There is almost nothing the devs can do, because for the big majority, including the devs themeselves and me, there is no such problem.
You claimed that issue over 20 times ? now in a lot of threads and to be honest, its annoying. You know the work of our devs (hehehe)
already. They are really good. If there is a problem, they try to solve it, if possible!
I understand, that you have a problem and need help.
But ask yourself, if everthing on your side is ok. Its interesting, that the second S3 you worked on has the same prob. You already made
a clean install on both? You flashed several modems, instead of the warning from superdragonpt, that it can damage the hardware, on
both of the S3?

No my phones is OK .maybe you don't read carefull my post. If it was hardware damage I will have the problem with lp roms too but that not happen.
I try new aospa v2 fire855 manage to solve that problem to me. He fixed connection selection and both poor signal. I hope to fix aicp cm13 too.thanks @fire855

That is my experience however it is due to the bands supported rather than a software bug. Telco is Telstra.

No it is not band problem. I have very good signal with 4.4 all 5.1 roms and N rom too I have the problem only with MM roms

I had awful signal problems with 6.0
No signal problems whatsoever on 4.4, 5.1, 7.0
Hope it helps!

Have you at all read the forum before flashing?
Lot's of people experiencing the same problem. If you still went ahead and flashed, that's your problem.
Agreed. This is a common problem that there seems to be no fix for except getting your phone replaced. Even people restoring back to original factory conditions (ROM and Radio) still have the lower signal.
You have to be aware of the side effects with any ROM Dish
solving the problem for 100EU
You can solve the problem really easy... By moving somewhere else... Actually I moved from the 2nd floor to the 8th and it helped OK seriously now: I'm using RADIO version 1.64.08.21, Protocol version: 25.74.40.02H, WM 6.1 19209.1.0.2, HARD SPL v2 and 3G is OFF and everything works well and the signal strength is full of course.
try to disable the 3G functionnality (if you don't need it of course). My signal strength is always high for me since I disabled it.

Re-flash original ROM, re-flash original SPL, then, Hard reset.
the signal doesnt change only because of software, maybe the scale changed...
i tried flashing original rom and spl no good news! how can i disable 3G????
where can I get original rom and spl?
another thing might work as well.
switch your phone settings from AUTO to hard GSM instead of WCDMA this might help a bit as well.
I did the easy route: go back and claimed a new phone because the reception on this phone is bad.

Changing from Auto to GSM on the phone band settings I went from 2 to 4 bars on the signal. Makes me think that the issue is only visual and that there is no real change in signal strength.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2167523&postcount=122
Right now I see 2 people who are flashing the Russian ROM and report that after that the signal strength is normal again? One guy with 2 posts, another with 3 posts... this is currently not making me comfortable to try it myself unless someone with a longer presence on this forum is confirming that it works.
I saw another guy who said he has nothing to lose and wants to try it... I'll wait and see his results... maybe it really works?

The signal quality varies much from 3G to GSM. All depends on the network coverage. In the same spot you can have good GSM signal and bad 3G coverage. Roughly speaking, there are 2 antennas on the same network cell: 1 for GSM and another for 3G. Theoretically, the best coverage is achieved by GSM, since it was the first protocol used, and the network opperator added 3G later.
On the end look for call quality, not number of bars ...

Seems, you can save your 100 Euros and just flash this
Murata Radio Rom which was descovered as fixing the issue
over in the Reception issue poll thread.
Olioaglio
you could try this russian radio rom. it helped many users who had the same problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388823
Just download the rom, flash it (it is in russian), then flash any rom you want without a radio and it should work.

first, enjoy your strong reception polaris, mate
I think the best idea to show your contribution would be donating
some Euros to the xda-developers for making this all
possible by giving us this REALLY great forum!!
Donation Link:

Yes this really is a great forum, it has helped so many people with their problems with their expensive devices, like it did with yours today.
However I recommend you donate (out of the 100 euros) a bit of the money to the maker of the ROM that helped you, and the majority of the money to XDA Developers (say, 25 euros to the maker of the ROM and 75 euros to XDA Developers).
XDA Developers will only work if people like the maker of the ROM contribute to it, so it seems fair to share the wealth.
Its good to see that you are sticking to your promise, a while back someone asked for help and offered £40 as a reward and when the help was given (it was quite a difficult problem) they never paid up.

New Sprint Radio 2.42.00.03.10

I flashed this to my Eris and it seems to have faster data speeds and better reception.

i definitely wouldn't go flashing any 'ole radio just because its available for other phones. proceed at your own risk everyone...his boost could easily be coincidence. youre not gonna get that much change.

As long as its CDMA its good.

This radio works fine on the Eris. Still, use caution when flashing it and if your phone explodes don't spam the dev forum asking for help.
No more not being able to make/receive calls as of yet. Also it seems my wifi tether works now but may have been the new ivan rom that came out.
I recommend against flashing non-Eris specific radios.
Do it at your own risk.

Yeah, that's not true dude. Flashing an incorrect radio update CAN completely brick your phone. Flashing a radio update updates your SPL. If the SPL isn't compatible with your phone/kernel, it could very well completely ruin your phone beyond recoverable.
You're lucky, but for future reference, it's a really bad idea to go flashing any ol' radio update except one that's been tested and working with your phone and kernel.

so awesome
This is why I felt comfortable with flashing the radio...
The ONLY reason I flashed this radio is due to the fact that others did this with no bad side effects (so far). Also, toastcfh has tested other heroc radios on an Eris with no bad side effects (so far) as well as done some good research for us by flashing the radios and seems to be quite knowledgeable when it comes to them.
I'm not authorizing that you should go flashing "any 'ol radio" but heroc and desirec radios seem to be created with the intention of being used on Sprint and Verizon according to research by toastcfh.
toastcfh said:
now for the question about why some radios say heroc instead of eris...
the heroc radio are just that... heroc radios from sprint. its a cdma radio so it works the same as verizon radio. dont believe me?! do a strings | grep on all the radios and u will see they are all using both sprint and verizon logins and such. also as right now im running the latest radio which is the heroc one. everything works fine and its the one ive had best results with on both my Sprint Hero and my wifes Verizon Eris. although others may find better results with other versions.

Just make sure you know that just because it worked for someone else doesn't mean you won't find that underlying control signal some day.

I believe that was/is a bug with the nexus lock mod. I remember when lwp mod first came out I tried it and noticed the sim card message. I have not gone back to that since so I can't be 100% sure.
well whatever it was it went away after i did a restore so alls good
Is anyone experiencing any issues with this one, I have flashed this radio and my 3G signal is not as good as it used to be.
I have 2 Eris' one stock (baseband 2.32.40.11.09) and one rooted with 2.42.00.03.10. The stock gets 4 3G bars with -70dBm while the rooted Eris gets 2 or less bars with -52 dBm.
From what I'm seeing, 3G speed is also suffering on the Eris with the newer baseband. Can anyone make sense of this?

yeah that's what doesn't make sense to me. the rooted phone says it has a better signal strength, but I'm only getting 2 3G bars (at most!).
I would like to test it but I am unable to find the original 2.32.40.11.09 radio image.
@above
metering has changed in more recent radios. aka bars vs signal strength is different.
soooo is this a yes or no go for flashing?
I tried this out, no noticeable difference in signal strength or speed where I am. Flashed it back to the newest ERIS radio...

[Q] Radio for AT&T Atrix 4G with Cynogenmod 7.1 (2.3.7)

Dear all,
just updated my Atrix with Cynogenmod 7.1 build GWK74 (#20).
I noticed that 3G signal seems to be worst than the AT&T 4.5.91 stock one.
My current radio is N_01.77.30P
Should I update the radio with N_01.77.36P one or flash back the original AT&T coming with Gingerbread official OTA update?
I live in Italy and using a 3G only provider (H3G), I'm not sure if this make any difference.
Any "radio" expert advise?
Many thanks!
Max
I'm based in the UK and found that reception with N_01.77.36P was pretty terrible compared to that with N_01.77.30P. Perhaps that is just a problem with my network here, however?
I'm currently using the N_01.100.00R radio and this seems to perform on a par with the N_01.77.30P on my network with good reception.
If you have unlocked your phone's bootloader and have CWM installed, it is very easy to change from one radio to the next so it is worth trying them all out.
Maringer,
thanks for your reply.
I may try to flash a few radio (I'm going to use moto-fastboot tool or CWM Recovery).
I would be nice for Cynogenmod to introduce a sort of monitor of radio signal performances in order to test different radios e.g. for a whole day and check how it goes.
Wonder why N_01.77.36P is "terrible" compared to the old N_01.77.30P...
Anyone knows who develop those radios and their updates?
Any changelog for different builds?
Thanks,
Max
I have had an improvement with the 36P radio, so I would definitely try this first if I were you. Download for me is a wee bit faster on data, but the wake up and connect time for WiFi is much faster now. It's a definite improvement in performance overall, but the data transfer speeds have not changed much.
I'm getting much better reception with 36P, and wifi connect on wake up is pretty much instant now. I would definaitly recommend it over 30P.

+1 same for me
I am on AT&T in Western Massachusetts, and 36P has given me better reception and much faster WiFi on wake.

How does .77.36p compare to the .92 radios?

[Q] Seeking input about radios (modem) versions

Hello all.
Just seeking input from someone smarter than me, as this is waaaay above my paygrade.
I recently flashed a kk4.4.3 rom. As per everyone's advice, I also flashed the 1.02 radio, as the general concensus is that you might have wifi trouble otherwise.
What's troubling me is that I actually had trouble with signal bars (ie not wifi) with the 1.02 radio. So I went back to .33 and my reception has never been better AND I haven't had any problem with wifi at all.
So, my question is how come it seems to work backwards for me than the majority? And most importantly, will I experience trouble by using a 4.4.2 radio on my 4.4.3 system?

Don't trust the signal bars. Trust the dbm reading in about phone and status. Bars are very innacurate reading of actual signal strength.

Guys I was thinking to flash my phone using QFIL so that it'll restore all partitions to factory made.
My phone is completely working fine. But now I have the time to do it.
So do you people that it's worth? I mean will it restore all partitions to default? Maybe that might help in better cellular reception or maybe put an end to random reboots?

I don' think so. My Zuk Z1 had OK cellular reception strength and coverage by it's supported bands. ButI think the actual design of the metal body and maybe antenna's in the phone it's just what it is.
With mzTool you CAN unlock bands for MSM8974AC SoC but I am not sure if this will help with the actual connectivity performance. My global version did OK compared to other phones. I am now using my Xiaomi Hongmi 1S again, I have flashed CM 12.1 on it because 4.4.4 is really outdated. I applied the 7.0.5.0 baseband firmware and I have to say it works better with 3G and slower connections at places where my Lenovo ZUK Z1 would have had a terribly slow connection to none (unless for calling service, what even my Nokia could do so many years ago)!
