[GUIDE] Install TWRP and Custom Roms on G800F - Galaxy S5 Mini General

Hello
I had some problems with installing TWRP because there is no mirror for a flashable .zip file to our custom recovery. Also the flashing in ODIN caused a little headscrath but luckily some people of the forum helped me and i would like to help others - so here is a little guide.
Thanks to Bogeyof and another343.
Prerequisites
Stock device with stock recovery
Samsung drivers installed for your device
Download Odin above 3.09 (this guide is with 3.12) (others might work but i have best results in this version and above in general)
Download Odin TWRP Recovery (thanks to DJ_Steve) (It's linked in the attachements because of dead links in the other thread)
Download a custom rom of your choice (note the modelnumber of your device, ie. G800F)
1. Press and hold volume down, startbutton and power on button until the Samsung bootloader logo appears.
1. a. Now you are almost in download mode - press volume up once to be in download mode.
2. Plug the phone in with USB cabel.
3. Open Odin
4. Go to options (depending on the version) and remove the Auto Reset option but leave on the F. Reset time.
5. Press the AP button (depending on the version)
6. Find the recovery.tar.md5 file.
7. Make sure the phone is found in Odin (it will display in ID:COM and the Log)
8. Press Start (depending on the version) and it will start flashing - it will only take a couple of seconds.
9. Power down the phone and boot into recovery. (Volume up, startbutton and power on until logo appears)
Now you are in TWRP recovery.
I will update this guide at a later time. Any suggestions are valued. :fingers-crossed:

Can not get the TWRP 3.0.0
Where did you get TWRP 3.0.0, all the links I could find are dead.

One of the links worked shortly but i uploaded the file so you can get it.

Thanks, it worked perfectly!

No problem - i plan to upload Odin, etc. so everybody can have a working link.

Didn't work for me. Flashed. Odin showed that everything went fine but the phone still showing the green android picture and "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!"
If I power down and boot into recovery, I get the standard android recovery not TWRP..
: (
EDIT: My bad. Wrong buttons pressed. Everything is fine (I was doing Vol Down - Home - Power. Vol Up - Home - Power works)

Worst case
I could NOT believe that this guide promote the worst case!!!
Running Stock Rom (5.11 from sammobile G800FXXU1BPE3) plus CF-Auto-Root-kminilte-kminiltexx-smg800f.tar.md5 and recovery.tar.md5.
Backup by TWRP 3.0 runs perfect, but the restore of that backup caused a hang on the start screen forever!!!!!!!
I had to flash everything again, lost all data, apps and settings (ended up like a factory reset), cause even a data restore ended up with the same hang at the start screen. Pretty ****ty that recommendation!!!!!!!!

Can you explain some more (maybe google translate?) its hard to understand what you mean? It has worked fine for others.

Shure, tell me what you need to know (not just explain some more), cause all facts are mentioned!
What I mean is said as well - softbrick after restore!
If it worked for others fine, I gess they have not tried a restore, cause simply a backup by TWRP 3.0 is fine and does not show the disaster!!!!!
Here again:
S5 Mini - Lollipop 5.11 DBT Version (Germany) G800FXXU1BPE3 from Sammobile 2016-06-08
Rooted with unlocked Bootloader by Chainfire Version CF-Auto-Root-kminilte-kminiltexx-smg800f.tar.md5
all flashed by Odin
and than your Guide
TWRP Version recovery.tar.md5 downloaded from your guide side and flashed by Odin
So far no problem.
Backup by TWRP no problem.
Restore of that backup - softbrick!!! - phone hang on the start screen forever!!!!!!!
I can not make it more clear!

Hi RicSou,
Do you known any link for TWRP 2.8 (to flash with Odin) ???
Cause at the official TWRP side is no S5 Mini (G800F). Just S5 Neo, Plus, Qualcomm.
That's why I used the link from this guide side and I though that recommendation is fine (but it ended in a disaster).

TWRP 3.0 and 2.8 fails to restore nandroid backup... and I can not find the reason for the failure, restore someone without problems?

restore nandroid backup
Hi,
is there a version of TWRP that can restore a nandroid backup ? I just see a lot of problems with the TWRP recovery and nobody seems to be able to do a working restore on a G800F .
somebody ? with which version ??

I also tried TWRP 3.0 if I remember correctly posted by Steve and this recovery seriously destroyed my phone. I couldn't install any OS because most of time CRASH. I couldn't even turned on the phone again after installation of this file. - [ I ADVICE EVERY ONE TO NOT INSTALL THIS VERSION OF TWRP ] -
Greetings and Thank you G

Don't know if you have tried these https://aykevl.nl/android I have not tried them myself and not sure if they are the same as what has been posted before or even suitable ?

Too many 'greenshorns' publish untested guides, that's the problem!
The only backup app, which does the job absolutely perfect on a G800F is FlashFire!
At least with my configuration (mention before in that threat).
Chainfire is serious and FlashFire an awesome app.
The best investment I ever made (Pro Version).
Even with a bootloop (and without TWRP) the job is done within 30 minutes.
Just flash the firmware (from sammobile with Odin) root it (by Chainfire with Odin), install FlashFire and run the FlashFire backup.
That works perfect !!!
FlashFire can also restore its own backup by TWRP, but there is no official TWRP Version for G800F !!!
I have not tested that option yet.

Tanks a lot for your answer. I fully trust a Chainfire solution ( highest respected android guy ), and you have used it without problems .
So this will be my solution for backup/restore , I am going to buy flash fire right away.
Best regards

Dear hedgegee,
you have published that guide!
So let us know under which phone 'configuration' your superguide was working for you?
Have you made a restore by a TWRP backup ???
It is time for the truth now!
Like to hear from you.

Hi Dudes,
My S5 Mini won' accept the TWRP Flash with Odin. Whatever .tar i use, ODIN says "Pass" and after reboot i still get the original samsung recovery.
Samsung KIES is installed and disabled during installation. (for the drivers)
I used ODIN 3.10.6 and 3.12.3 and the linked twrp.
Any ideas?
Thx so far.
Adittional: My Samsung ROM is Nr. LMY47X.G800FXXU1BPE3 if i have to downgrade or smth...
EDIT: Problem solved. You need to flash CF-Autoroot first.

Further help in post 2
This debloated (with SuperSU) backup is the latest I have uploaded and it's only around 622mb
A debloated without root version is also abailable.
**by debloated I have removed a bunch of stock Samsung/Google and other applications.
This old 2gb backup has SuperSU and AppOps pre-installed(forgot to remove, has all stock apps)
These other stock partitions include the stock recovery.
I am currently unable (no PC) to produce a flashable zip, if you know what you are doing you can make use of these other files.
This phone needs:
- A permissive kernel
- a deodexed version of this ROM (for xposed)
- cm12/13
- etc etc
If you found this post helpful please hit thank you and leave feedback

TWRP NOT RECOGNIZING THE BACKUP???
Stay calm, here's what you do:
zenful said:
∆∆∆make sure to put the files for the these backups in a folder on root of your SD card called TWRP/BACKUPS/<device ID>/BACKUPS/ in order for TWRP to recognize the backups on your device. If you don't know your device ID, just use TWRP and make a backup of whats currently on your device to get the folder with that device ID than place the backup in that location.

How to Flash TWRP recovery using Odin said:
Download Odin 3.12.3
Unzip the Odin 3.12.3 .zip file and run/open Odin3 v3.12.3.exe file from the extracted files on your PC.
Make sure you’ve downloaded a Odin flashable TWRP recovery .tar file compatible for your device.
(If applicable) Enable OEM unlock:
Go to Settings » About phone » and tap Build number seven times to enable Developer options.
Go back to main Settings page, scroll to bottom and select Developer options from there.
Under Developer options, look for Enable OEM unlock checkbox/toggle and enable it.
Boot your device into Download mode:
Switch off your device.
Press and hold “Home + Power + Volume down” buttons for a few seconds until you see a warning screen.
Press Volume Up on the warning screen to accept it and boot into Download mode.
Once your device is in download mode, connect it to the PC with a USB cable. The Odin window on PC should detect the device and show an “Added!!” message.
Now click on the AP tab on Odin window and select the TWRP recovery .tar file that you downloaded for your device.
└ Note: DON’T play with any other options on the screen. You’re only required to connect your device and select the TWRP recovery .tar file in the AP tab.
Click the Start button on Odin and wait for it to finish the process. Once it has finished successfully, you’ll see a pass message on the Odin screen.
Your device will automatically reboot when Odin is done flashing. You can then disconnect your device.
How to boot into TWRP recovery on a Samsung Galaxy device
Switch off your device.
Press and hold “Home + Power + Volume Up” buttons for a few seconds and as soon as you see your device’ logo on-screen, release three buttons altogether. Your device will boot into TWRP recovery.

Anybody find out about custom recoveries on the SM-978L?
Well I don't know if this helps, but my brother soft bricked his phone while trying to put a custom boot-animation on his phone. I figured out how to fix it by flashing https://download.chainfire.eu/719/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-e5lte-e5lteub-sme500m.zip using odin 3.09. After i flashed it and reset his device it booted back up like normal, and he had root. Just for ****s and giggles i decided to try to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ment/recovery-twrp-samsung-galaxy-e5-t3283089. When i tried to reboot into recovery it told me that the seandroid was enforcing. My question is if we flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nel-permissive-lollipop-stock-kernel-t3387015 will we be able to use this custom recovery. I know it is not built for this specific device, but i was wondering if they were close enough for it to work. Just to afraid to flash it and brick his device with no backup images available.

Did you ever gather up enough courage to try? It would seem like it should work. I might try it myself, but I cant afford to buy another one if it fails.

I'm the brother bndnrd was referring to.... at this time we haven't tried it but we are almost sure that this straight talk (tracphone) version is the same as the one mentioned. Just like everyone else though I just don't have $200 to test it if it were to fail.
My stupidity in not setting perms right on the boot animation is what caused the soft brick in the first place and apparently.. what ever he did.... was able to boot the phone back up bypassing perms.
If I can pay off a few bills early enough I will set aside some cash and try the build we think will work but that will be at least a month away.
If TWRP actually works after that permissive kernel is installed, we can finally get a stock nandroid backup. That would take the fear away from testing that custom cyanogen build.

I ended up making a nandroid backup of this phone and the only thing I couldn't make a backup of was the boot and recovery for it.
You can find out all the partitions you need to use dd with to start a backup by doing

If I had the resources for a computer I would have uploaded a copy of my stock image, I'll see what I can do about getting one up. Also saw this tool that I thought may be useful for getting a flashable image.
tool-mmcblk0-extractor
Anyways, until next time x.x
Just wanted to post this and see if anyone has theirs different.
Also if someone could decompile the boot.img (I have a link to mine I can send) I'll work on a passive kernel for us.

Hey no worries and yes it's just a full backup from TWRP just stupid in the sdcard and navigate to TWRP's restore section and it should auto find it. Any other files needed I'll also have, but this a bit a flashable zip or flashable via Odin, and
I imagine Odin says that after you flashed TWRP right? If so that's because that's what the TWRP was made for so it seems like Odin checked the recovery.
If it said that BEFORE you flashed it, that's very intriguing and helpful to me
thank you very much i really like this phone maybe ill be able to use it again havent went back to odin since i put twrp on the phone but when i plug into my computer it says e500h in window on my computer when in twrp on the phone used to say sm-s978l so im not sure just the way it is introduced by windows

Rooting A5 2016 marshmallow

Hello guys,
I really want to root my a5 2016 running on marshmallow but every thing fails.....Kingroot fails, kingoroot the same and when i try to do that with cf-auto root it says that flashing passes but "recovery is not seandroid enforcing".... I have ticked the oem unlock and the usb debbuging but still nothing....The only way to get my phone back working is to reflash the firmware that i had (the official marshmallow) but then it is not rooted!!! If anyone can help i would really appreciate it...
Thanks
i ran into these problems also, autoroot not working etc. and managed to fix it like this :
- Reminder but very important : as you mentioned first of all make sure oem settings is still enabled in settings/developper settings
- Flash TWRP for marshmallow with the NEWEST Odin, i used Odin3 v3.12.3 (my older version did not make TWRP stay after reboot, i tried like 10 times)
When you have twrp installed download UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.76-20160630161323.zip (or use the one from my attachment) and flash it, if root is not available from first try, flash again, i had to do it 2 times also.
I hope this works for you too

Otherwise check your bootloader - must be LA3.0_M_3 (Service Menu - Service Info - Software Info - S1 Boot Version)
UPDATE 15.03.2017
New 3.1.0-0 from @russel5 - Big thx again to him! Say thanks to him - not me!
can someone please explain/summarize for me the differences of twrp recoveries that we have on the z3c. if i got it right, there is (1) old bl recovery = kernel 'attached', (2) new bl recovery = seperated img from kernel and (3) fota recovery wich uses an unused partition of unlocked bl.
is that correct?
whats the advantage of fota? can every custom rom use all the different recoveries? can (2) + (3) be flashed both on the same device?
i am really confused wich version i wanna install and keep on my phone...
thanks

Yes - this all can be confusing!
I'm trying to be complete as I can be - I will mention only the last dev of the tools - Actually many more are involved and often it's an growing work of many - Especially No 1.
1) For LB - We have recovery (and root) for LB - Here the last (and best) rooting and TWRP method is the one from russel5:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/recovery-root-mm-575-lb-t3418714
This installs recovery files to SYSTEM partition folder /system/etc/mm_twrp_recovery
This is file: recovery.twrp.cpio.lzma
2) Only UB - Recovery integrated in Kernel a) and b)
a) Rootkernel (tobias.waldvogel) https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...oot-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605
afaik this was one of the first tools which can integrated automaticly very resource-conserving recovery to kernel - Disadvantage: Hard to change TWRP if new version is out.
b) PoC TA Tool (munjeni) https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/poc-real-trim-instead-drm-fix-t3552893
Great quite new tool which can also integrate TWRP (but here the complete fota recovery.img) to kernel: Advantage easy to change TWRP to new version, because full fota revovery.img is used
3) Only UB - Recovery to FOTA partition (now known as recovery partition) - newer bootloader needed
This is the recovery.img you can download from official TWRP page or from russel5 (img to be flashed via fastboot) or from this thread (flashable.zip).
Those recovery.img's are complete bootable images with zImage and ramdisk (TWRP is in ramdisk).
That all means that it's indeed possible to have THREE recvoerys running on one phone! But this is senseless of course !!!
Option 1 is only recomended if you are on LB! But works also for UB. But its away if you flash complete new ROM (as TWRP is on SYSTEM)
Option 2 is.... for what? Let me say: Only if you really need the function to reboot to recovery directly from system.
Option 3 is my favorite (but only for UB) - this is bootable no matter what you did to system or even with kernel!
It's on his own seperate partionen and save for unwanted modifications, wrong boot or system flashes, etc
Only (and actually not really an) disadvantage is that you have to start this from shutted down phone... Reboot to recovery is not working!

Wow, thanks a lot @fluffi444!! It's even more complicated than I thaught. WHAT A MESS! :silly:
Well I'am still on Concept Rom --> Bootloader LA3.0_L_Hero_16. I guess that one is close to LA3.0_M_3? Don't remember where I got my TWRP 3.0.0.0 version from, but i flashed it as recovery.img, so it should be fota-type, right? Actually I can reboot from system to recovery ...
I think I'll keep this one as is and see if I need a newer version one day, when i change system to any Nougat rom.

Yes - flashing by fastboot goes to FOTA/Recovery partition... Yes - keep it - I don't even know how Concept N or M will react...
Did anyone tried to do backup/restore with this recovery?
I am using it since flashing to LineageOS 14.1 and did multiple backups. Tonight I broken my google account in the ROM, so I wanted to restore to last backup. I already tried four of my backups and all of them are bootlooping, so I am starting to suspect the recovery, as all of those backups were done from perfectly working system.

Yes - fully working here. Even Restore. But I still use 6.0.1.
But sometimes (not recovery version related) its not enough to restore only DATA or only SYSTEM.
It happens to me that only an complete restore of all saved partition did the trick...
But as I said that happens also with older recoverys or/and not modded.

Then it must be something either with my setup, or with 7.1.1 itself.
I tried everything: partial restore, full restore, new flash with recovering of data partition only... Everything was bootlooping.
I am not sure what finally worked, as I was trying it desperately for hours, but most probably the last mentioned thing without flashing Magisk.

Hi there,
booting this current version of TWRP from `recovery/fota` is not working for me. The device just reboots but should load TWRP. I flashed it via `fastboot flash recovery [twrp.img]` without any errors.
TWRP is booting if I flash it to `boot` instead of `recovery`. I flashed CarbonROM this way but lost TWRP after that of course. I also tried [russel5's TWRP 3.1.1-0] which is not booting from `recovery/fota` either. However, an older TWRP version by Tomascus I found -> here <- is booting fine from `recovery/fota`.
Maybe this is bootloader related but I am not entirely sure. If so, how can I update the bootloader?
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact D5803
- Bootloader: 1286-7314_S1_Boot_MSM8974AC_LA3.0_52-2
- ROM: CARBON-CR-5.1-MOO-RELEASE-z3c-20170918-1012
TWRP's tried:
- Russel5's TWRP 3.1.1-0 FOTA Recovery MOD by fluffi444
- [D5803,z3c,aries]Twrp_3.1.1-0_img_for_unlocked_bootloader by russel5

My MOD is technically the same as original one from Russel. So please ask in his thread (you did this already... btw: please do not post the same question in several threads)
I never tried 7.x.x-based ROMs. So I cannot say anything reladed to the compatibility I'm afraid. MM with stock-like ROM is working with 3.1.1.0 (from Russel).
I will make an note in OP...

I am trying to install a newer TWRP for Carbon Mod custom rom. I tried:
- install .img with TWRP in TWRP
- flashify
- official app TWRP from google play
- fastboot commands with "platform-tools"
Everywhere I get a message that everything went fine but in TWRP I still have the old version - 3.0.0.2 :/
I am asking for help because I have been fighting this from two days :/
I have Xperia Z3C with unlocked bootloader, stock prerooted firmware .291 + EliteKernel v3.

To which partition have you installed the TWRP image file? Starting with your phone turned off, f it's been sent to the FOTAKernel partition, hold both the power and the volume down buttons until your phone vibrates (as if it was booting up normally), when you should release the power button. When the screen lights up, release the volume down button.
Otherwise, if you installed TWRP in the recovery partition, boot your phone up as usual. When you see the led lit up, press the volume button.

Thank you very much for the answer. Starting the phone with Power + VolUp does not do anything. The phone shows the Sony logo and the system starts.
I installed the IMG file in recovery / fota and the ZIP version doesn't ask for locations.

Rooted, Custom Rom a huge fail

Hello dear Community!
It is depressing that my first appearance here is to ask for help, but I am going crazy.
So, I tried to Root my phone via Odin + CF Autoroot klte and it seemed to have been a success.
The root checker also said, that my device was rooted so I went on and installed TWRP to be able to install Lineage OS.
After getting Lineage to work I got a few error messages suddenly popping up, telling me that either "Music had stopped" or other android operation were closed because they didn't work properly.
I tried to install Gapps, it seemed to have worked but I was only able to open and enter the store once, afterwards the store never managed to load and then the app closed itself after starting it.
So I checked again with Root Checker, but this time it gave me an error message, too. It said, that my device was not rooted properly.
I guess this is were I made it worse by deciding to just root the phone again. Obviously, it didn't work either.
Afterwards I thought that maybe installing The Original Android OS and then unrooting the phone would be the best solution to be able to start anew.
First I tried to flah Lineage again and that made it impossible for me to boot the phone. The farthest I got was the setup page, were it tells you Hello and were you can choose a Language, but clicking the arrow key didn't do anything at all.
The recovery mode was also not the TWRP one anymore, but the original Android one and that was a huge problem for me.
Then I tried to flash the 6.1 OS for the S5 (I made sure it was the correct version), but now it is stuck at the "Samsung" screen while it boots.
It never boots though.
I don't know what to do anymore.
Please, I beg you, could anyone help me out?
Don't flash the latest Lineage OS ROM
Hello AsylumAlice u shouldn't have flashed the latest Lineage OS ROM because now u will need a new motherboard for your S5 since the ROM corrupts the MMC chip now u will need to get a new MMC chip or a new Motherboard sorry that your s5 is now hard bricked but when u get it fixed flash the DreamUX S8 Rom it works flawless on my S5 SM-G900i

What are the grounds for your claims?
You needn't root via CF-autoroot if your end goal was to flash lineage. CF autoroot was intended to root stock roms with ease and less effort.
Flash The LATEST, official TWRP via odin then do a FULL WIPE. Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik cache.
From here on, you have two options:
1.) Sideload the LineageOS rom via ADB
2.) Transfer it to the phone's storage via MTP and flash it from TWRP.
As for how to accomplish this, the forum search bar and Google has your back. You need only choose one procedure.
If you need the Play Store, flash gapps AFTER flashing LINEAGE AND BEFORE REBOOTING.
Since you were under the idea that utilizing CF-autoroot was a necessity, I suggest that you re-read this post thoroughly before actually putting it into practice.

Thank you so much for your fast reply!
-> I flashed the newest Version for klte via Odin, but I can't get into the boot mode.
I only am able to enter the download mode. What can I do now?
Flash TWRP via odin again, untick the Auto-Reset option of Odin first. Then try booting to recovery via long holding the power, home and volume up button simultaneously without releasing any of the buttons until you successfully see the TWRP splash screen.
If that still doesn't work, reboot to recovery via adb from download mode. You need the adb and the usb drivers for your device.
If that still doesn't work, you might have flashed an incompatible version of TWRP.

Thank you so much, it worked perfectly!
I can now start my phone and use it normally.
But the Root Checker still says:
"Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device.
Device: SM-G900M
Android version: 7.1.2"
What should I do from now on?
Thank you so much for your help (agaiN).
And as for why I used the auto-root, well I just followed a guide that I found, it only had positive reviews so I assumed it was a correct tutorial.

I thought about doing that, but wasn't sure how exactly to proceed and what Version to install.
I downloaded SuperSU v.2.82 and put it on my internal storage.
Just install over TWRP the same way that I Installed Lineage and Gapps I suppose?
I guess if it doesn't work out, I just follow the steps from above again and retry?
Thank you so much. I feel like in idiot in this situation.

Root Failure on my C9 Pro in Android 8.0.0 Oreo

Hi guys. This is my first post on XDA.
Now I've got C9 Pro, and hours ago I just got it flashed with the latest Android 8.0.0 ROM, version: C9000ZHU1CRG9.
Also I managed to flash TWRP. Then I started doing the Root things with TWRP, as I had done on Android 7.1.1.
However, I did get issue while doing the Root on Android 8.0 --
Actually the SuperSU was flashed successfully, but after this, the phone kept restarting, failing to enter the OS.
I am definitely sure I did the Root with the right steps.
Also I tried different versions of SuperSU, still the issue existed.
Then I flashed Magisk instead, no use.
I even used other versions of TWRP, still no use!
......
Finally, I quitted, flashing the former Android 7.1.1 ROM.
I can't use a phone without Root, but I really want to experience Android 8.0.0.
Can someone offer me any solution?
Thanks a lot in advance!

You know what, I already tried TWRP 3.2.3, but failed!:crying:
I have tried almost every combination ended up getting bootloop always except when I tried these;
1. Install stock firmware and csc (not home csc this will fully wipe the phone)
2. After finishing it enters to recovery and updates the system. Keep hold of pressing the volume down+home key to enter to download mode as soon as it finishes installing system update.
3. install twrp from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262903985796 (original thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/c9-pro/development/twrp-c9ltechn-t3646970 sometimes links can be dead. In that case you can find new link from that thread).
4. Keep holding of pressing Volume Up+Home key while installing twrp to boot into recovery as soon as the phone reboots.

Your phone should boot normally to setup screen.
After You finish setup you should see supersu icon and your phone should be rooted.
I haven't tested but if your phone is in working condition right now you can try from step 3 to not lose your data.
Good Luck -
Thanks for your method. I think I made it finally!

There is, however, one problem with the given TWRP:
Before flashing SuperSU, I did format, or exactly, mount /data.
But when the phone was rebooted again, /data resumed unmounted, resulting in failure in flashing other ZIPs (It said "unable to mount /system").
Then I got the phone rebooted, the terrible bootloop occurred again!
That is to say, we have to flash all ZIPs in one time after mounting /data without rebooting the phone, but sometimes this is not possible.
Now my phone has gone back again to Android 7.1.1, and I think I have to wait for an official TWRP that supports Android 8.0 thoroughly on C9 Pro!

5. While in recovery flash this SuperSU https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4164510&d=1496008012 (Located in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4164510&d=1496008012 as "*** Xperia users, and others experiencing bootloops ***
Please use this version instead: "
Your phone should boot normally to setup screen.
After You finish setup you should see supersu icon and your phone should be rooted.
I haven't tested but if your phone is in working condition right now you can try from step 3 to not lose your data.
Good Luck -

I tried your guide & used Magisk v17.2 instead of SuperSU at step 5 & successfully resolved the bootloop problem, but I did encounter the problem of data not mounting even after flashing ashyx_dm-verity zip:

2 days ago I flashed again the Android 8.0 ROM into my C9 Pro with Root successfully, through which I found the actual problem:
The given TWRP only supports the specific SuperSU zip, and while I flash other zip files, the bootloop occurs again. That's why I surrender flashing Xposed zip.

Well done
I can confirm that I have enabled mounting data partition in TWRP after using your mentioned Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_09.02.2018 zip file, Although I haven't followed your steps exactly
I have mentioned my steps in earlier reply.
Thanks

Thanks first.
Well, I do have a question: can I flash other zip files, like Xposed, with your given TWRP without phone bootloop?
Thanks!
New thread with root guide on oreo (8.0) step by step with required files would be appreciable.

Last night I tried this again following the steps, and finally the flash of Xposed and other 3rd-party zip were successfully!
Only one problem: an app named "Toggle Data" could not be run properly.
Again, thanks a lot!
How to do, C9 Pro with Root successfully?
