keyboard lag and small milisecond stuff is driving me crazy, am i doing it wrong ? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

first of all this a DESPERATE post i know there are other post KINDA like this but i dont think they're experiencing the same stuff that im suffering !! first of all the keyboard small lag + poping up animation is JUST INSANE!! if you're a phone lover and used the smartphones from the beginning you'll know the EXTRA change in every single phone !! but since i decided to sell my ONE M8 (A 2 freaking year old phone) for this im experiencing a DOWNGRADE feeling ! the most annoying thing appears in a snnapy app named TELEGRAM which i use like 60% of the time on the phone ! ive used every keyboard from swiftkey to google and the snappiest is still THE SAMSUNG KEYBOARD ... yeah bummer. and it doesnt end there... when i click the built in emoji button on telegram it has this very very tiny delay that ull only experience it if you had a snappier phone before like a nexus or even iphone (yeah i tested the same conditions on iphone its wayyyy faster on popping up and typing) or heck the htc phones too!! yeah i should stop whining BUT THIS IS A 600$ phone a goddamn flagship with 4gbs of ram and blahblah!! ive had a samsung S4 with the exynos processor before too but i dont remember being THIS MUCH annoyed with it!! im talking about keyboard and lags much cause well I USE KEYBOARD 90% of time and its a much important factor than anyother thing in the world ! after that there is this weird screen gap issue that i addressed in other topic (its not even visible in daylight and you wouldn't see it in night if you're focusing on it but yeah ... i have this obsession to have the problem-free phone) and no they didn't replace it cause i was late for the 7days return policy !! those two plus a scrappy headphone and music jack makes it hella worse!!!
so whats is wrong with me or my phone? am i the only one who is experiencing these things? i always root and flash the best close-to-stock rom out of the box but i decided to run this SO CALLED MONSTER on basic modes and didn't even reseted out of the box and just updated it thru OTA! everything else is snappier in this phone including app switch games and camera !! but the most important one is missing ...
and since i haven't found any solutions yet im planning to sell it for ~100$ less than what i paid for it initially !! and thinking about using the headphone money that i was planning to spend to buy a new phone !! HTC 10 seems like the most sensible choice ... with a nice headphone inside ... but it got a 5.2"screen which is a bummer since i was really liking the huge screen on this ... then there is iphone 6s plus which i would only buy for its resell value to buy a htc nexus later cause i cant get away from android !! and the only reason im choosing it is because it got a 5.5" screen and just a good all around BLAZING FAST phone!
help me fix it or help me decide a new phone!

you're not the only one mate. keyboards on s7 lag when used on anything but native sms. chrome, chrome beta and stock browser is laggy and any app like Facebook or Twitter is laggy too. it's the only annoying thing for me as it just shouldn't happen on this monster.
the only custom rom I find lag really short is renovate edge rom. even while writing this it's lagging slightly but far less noticeable than stock.

I had an honor 5x for a few days fixing it for a friend and it's noticeable from that short period of use. even with modded swifkey it's laggy too. Nexus 6p is faster on keyboard startup and use. it's getting better on stock as I jump from stock to custom frequently just to check for improvements.
which firmware are you running at the moment?

I thought I was the only one experiencing this

I have had it like mad for ages so I finally cracked. I rooted, got myself on debloated DD.1 ROM and a custom oveclocked kernel. Most of the lag issues have been solved Never buying a Samsung again though

Yes, there is two of you now in the world.
You can almost call yourselves a group

I never noticed the lag. Looking for it, though, it's barely noticeable. The time it takes to open the keyboard and the nanosecond lag of the key pop ups. But let me tell you this. You'll have this type of lag on almost every smartphone except a Nexus or any other device running 95% vanilla Android. My recent device history is like this; Moto Nexus 6 -> LG G4 -> S7 Edge. Going from a N6 to the G4, I was amazed how a non-Nexus device running a bloated custom OEM ROM could be so much faster and snappier than a full vanilla 100% Google stock Android. It was so much faster than the N6 but the keyboard...ahh, the f*cking keyboard. It would have opening and pop up lags of not nanoseconds, not milliseconds, no, litteral seconds! So from my point of view, the S7 Edge has almost no lag opening and operating a keyboard.

My S7 Edge does not have any keyboard lag, but I have disabled auto-correcttion and other keyboard features.

No keyboard lag personally using Google Keyboard

What I noticed is different languages on keyboard. I am using English(UK) but I live in Lithuania. Ant once I hit typing bar on chrome it lags terrible and then keyboard pops up. Which is Lithuanian. What I did is I downloaded Lithuanian keyboard and downloaded English(UK) keyboard. And lag is a lot less now.

If you were disappointed once, do you come back again?

Ok my fellow nexus one lovers... I had a Nexus one for about a month, and upon first opening the phone, there was dust, so I immediately got a replacement. I thought it was cool that next day when I show up at work, they had sent me my replacement so I was quite suprised on the service. Anyways, the phone was great, loved every aspect EXCEPT when texting, it wouldn't register my delete, and instead, a stupid smiley... in a way, I was getting pissed cause google was "smiling" at me when I was trying to do something else.
So my question is, I really want to go back, or wait for the HD2, but I feel the nexus is a better fit, especially when I use almost all the google features... but the texting/screen issue is a factor... I know people all over have this issue, and there isn't a resolution yet (that I've found) so what do I do? Wait? Suck it up and get it again? What are your suggestions???

It took me 3 phones to get all my issues fixed. If you're worried about fast customer service, get a phone that is supported directly by a carrier (Mytouch3g, droid, etc).
I have a good friend who just got a droid after being a huge crackberry fan. He loves it.
The nexus one is a pilot program so there will be growing pains to endure.
In terms of the touch issues watch your other fingers around the edge of the touch screen. I notice whenever my screen goes wonky a finger that shouldn't be touching the screen is.
Keep in mind you can get other keyboards than the stock that are agruably better anyway.
Good luck and thanks for supporting Android.
Didnt realize you were talking about screen issues, since using Cyanogen I havent expierenced them, but I dont know if they've been fixed for regular users.
hmm I didn't pay any attention to it after I rooted/flashed cyanogen... guess I'm going to have to think about this one a little bit. but overall I loved it. Do you guys think it will be fixed.... someday?
Well its an issue that theyve been made well aware of on their support forums so I would assume theyre working on a solution, I dont know why they wouldnt be.
just curious, but are you using the stock keyboard?
No, im using better keyboard right now and use smart keyboard and swype from time to time, just like to mix things up every once in a while, I type so fast on this thing now that smart keyboard and better keyboard have pretty much made swype useless to me. Smart Keyboard is free in the market and Better Keyboard is like 2 bucks and is pretty similar but is theme-able which I like. I also dont use auto correct or suggestions or any of that stuff so I dont know how they work for those.

Smart Keyboard and Better Keyboard are really just the stock keyboard with minor differences and more customization (but nothing innovational), if you really want to enjoy your typing experience - I suggest installing the HTC_IME, the typing creation cooked up by HTC for their Sense UI phones.
Nothing really beats it, I don't see how anything could. Swype though, is lovely.
I still feel like I type faster on smart or better keyboard, it could be I just havent gotten used to HTC IME yet, i used it all the time on my mytouch but ive just gotten so use to these keyboards that I dont even have to look to type, like typing this whole thing for example. I guess in the end its all just personal preference.
whats the "htc ime" ? link? seems interesting

HELP! Those of you who came to the Note from an N900...

... How long did it take you to feel like you'd made the right choice?
Right now the only thing I'm liking is the screen...
Scrolling in the browser seems choppier than my stock n900, and I'm missing the keyboard massively...
Really want to end up loving it, but all I can see right now are things that make me feel like it;s a massive step backwards...

Well...to be honest i don't know what to say - if you don't like it, you don't like it - you get used to it. Few year ago i was all about physical keyboards, but with introduction of the iPhone i realized it's time to let go. It took me some time but i finally got used to on-screen keyboards - and believe you me, there isn't a single on-screen keyboard that's better than the one on the Note ( the stock ICS / CM9 one, not the TouchWiz crap ).
About the scrolling...what ROM/Browser do you use ? I recommend CM9 with stock browser - super smooth "iphone-like" experience.
been there, done that. i got used to it really fast. the only thing that i'm really missing is the keyboard. i send a ton of text. but u get used to the virtual keyboard by time.
also, my note runs really smooth. i flashed a stock ICS and i'm running latest speedmod kernel.
I came from the n900 and it took a few weeks but you will get there. I missed the keyboard at first but when o use the n900 now I carnt use the hardware keybord , all I can say is stick with it you will grow to love the note and won't want to go to any other phone .
Bit i will say I'm cursed I had the dreaded USB port failure on my n900 several times and now had it on my note so be careful
But the n900 is the only phone I know to survive a 90mph tumble down the road and survive the note isn't as durable get a cover on that screen

Reluctant to upgrade to ICS because I don't want to lose flash in the browser.. I've got used to the web in my pocket being the same as the web on my desktop..

Yep, this was my second N900, the first one suffered the dodgy port, was fixed, then broke again, and so I got a brand new one last March. Was fine literally up until about a month ago at the end (luckily) of my holiday, when it wouldn;t switch on. Now if the battery runs out I have to reflash, and the power button does nothing, either when the phone is on off.. Ah well..
It's not so much the general typing, so much as ctrl-x,c,v, and cursor keys to edit text and scroll up/down dialog windows in browsers etc, but after a quick google it seems there's other keyboards with cursor function.
Ctrl+N for a new browser window, or contact was always well handy, and being able to start typing someone's name to bring up their details rather than having to press contacts first...
Also I can't figure out how to use keys to interact with flash in the browser...

At the mo I'm on gingerbread and using the stock browser, literally just got the note today, but keen to delve right in once I'm sure I'll be keeping it. Was well at home in the terminal on the N900, power kernel, overclocking etc, but it all seemed a lot safer - I've seen a lot of threads about people accidentally bricking their Notes...
Just had a little play with some N64 roms, the increased screen size and speed are at least a couple of nice plusses so far...
Trying to find a PSX emulator, ideally free... Again, I think having the N900 spoiled me..

Ah, sweet, maybe I will do the upgrade then, although still a bit nervous as I've heard that even the official Samsung ICS release is not 100% safe?
Or have I just misinterpreted that?
Seems that although flash is working, it is maybe not working as well as under gingerbread...

I came from n900, the second best phone I got after my lovely Note of course!
Yes I did miss the hw keyboard but when I found swype option it was an OMG it is really rally fast for typing, in both case you need two hands, so it is not a problem in this case.
About the browser, on n900 was a real desktop browser with flash included, really great, never missed my laptop under this point of view. But, Note with ICS seems to be good too, didn't test enough but saw an option to turns it as a desktop browser, and we have here last flash version!
If we talk about battery life, n900 loses badly, Note is incredible with batt, longer last, whole working day with some fun included. I just charge my note once a day.
Well I don't remember what other things did like to me on n900, that means I don't miss it yeah!
Ohh the contact manager was better on n900, never had duplicates contacts, the synchronization with social networks was amazing. On Note, after many months with can't handle SNS sync properly, in fact my contact list is a mess
Hope it helps, regards mate!

i came from an n900 as well.
its not too bad once you figure how to get things done.
i still prefer the hardware keyboard on the n900 though since i could feel the keys, so i could type without looking. but after a bit of practice with the note, i got a lot faster (to the point where my note lags, stutters and doubles up on letters). the only thing i'd prefer would be a slightly smaller screen for typing, so i'll probably get a smaller phone next time.
the only thing i really miss from the n900 is the integrated stand. that was useful for when you want to watch movies.

Sure, flash isn't the smoothest and best thing on Android, but it runs and does the job. Stay away from the leaked kernels. ROM's that uses Xplodwild's kernel like CM9 and ParanoidAndroid are safe and won't have the brick bug.
Just read the OP and do some research before you flash anything.
Tedri Mark, if you owed a N900 before that means you like physical keyboard and your best choice after the Note would certainly be the Samsung Captivate Glide which has a 4inch screen and keyboard - some say it's a Galaxy S2 with a keyboard. It's better if you look for some reviews on youtube to get a better idea.
until 2011 n900 was the best phone ver made for me but new phones are really way better then that now. about the physical keyboard, i have phones without physical keyboard for 2 years and still missing it . screen keyboards are ok but not good as physical ones for me.

Definitely, there is nothing better than a physical keyboard for typing! I missed that too.....if samsung could build a 4.5 or 4.8 inch screen phone with same same specs as the S2 + a physical keyboard, personally I'll sell my Note immediately! I emailed a lot daily and typing using a virtual keyboard is a pain when you are in a hurry with a lot of things to write!
Experimenting with browsers at the Mo, struggling to find one that renders the non mobile version of Facebook properly.. Both dolphin hd and ics browser + seem to struggle with the pop up gallery format... Quite annoying, and I'm not keen at all on the cut down versions and apps.
somewhat long read...
well, what you aren't missing is the battery life. It was just ****ty on the N900, and the screensize, and the resolution.
that was a coincidence that you posted it. I have the exact same problem with my conversion from my n900 to a Galaxy Note.
I really really wanted to like the Galaxy Note (i am a linuxfanboy after all for over 12 years)but in all honesty, i don't. I was sad to see such a (in my eyes beautiful) device like the n900 be abandoned by nokia (but that's for another section i guess to QQ) It's not the size that turned me off or the device itself (i love the screensize!), but the way Android works for me. It's just feels cumbersome, sure it can do a LOT of things but most of these things it does "feel" slow at doing, and buggy...
Touchscreen typing in comparison to the N900 feels ... well nothing ofcourse, you don't feel anything at all... a physical keyboard still feels good and better than nothing. Though the onscreen keyboards of android are still way worse than the iPhone keyboard. But I can't get used to this typing. To be fair I think I type faster now on my SGN but that has probably got to do with the fact that I care less about my spelling and 'auto-correct' mistakes. I don't text/mail as much as i used to do only when it's necessary. I don't feel like picking up my SGN if i want to browse anything on the web, games (multitouch anyone?) scrolling is still slow and laggy. Moving around in android is something i do out of neccesity not because i wanted to explore things on my phone like the N900.
Multitasking is badly designed in my eyes on the Android if you set it next to Maemo (CTRL-BACKSPACE for instant satisfaction!). I don't like to push a button for 2 seconds; scroll for the right app and click on the touchscreen and then go to that application; that must be instantaneous to make it really multitasking ready. Clicking the homescreen button; selecting the app on my homescreen feels faster even...).
I try to run the most bleeding edge ICS builds and tirelessly try to convince people (iPhone and Windows)it is better in giving a versatile phone experience(i used the nightlies from CM9) but when they show up with their ****ty iPhones and casually just look up some site and i try to look up the same site. The iPhone is always faster in getting to that specific site; more fluid in scrolling, doesn't fail at sites where it really shouldn't fail (gecko)("never happened before...wait don't go, it's still loading... almost there.. i think"). At the end my friends and i can only look at long youtube movies on my SGN("woah dude your big screen is soo nice! "oops huh did i just turn your SGN off when i hold it in landscape???") but anything other than that, iPhones and even windows phones now gets it done faster and more simple, responsive, less buggy. A year ago when i had the N900, i could look at everything without any of these problems... no mistyping... no workarounds with different browsers...
Cut copy paste... what a joke in comparison to the N900. i'm not even gonna start on that one. Try setting up some commands from the cli on your SGN... pfff (nevermind that %#FG)
Sometimes i'm thinking people are less critical about their phone experience because you only have 3 real choices atm for the newest hardware. android;iOS;winmango. Nokia DNR'd the N900 and their Maemo continuation which was a bad thing but it was a good product and i can't find any of the big companies making something that would remotely resemble the N900. Critical people here, please tell me i'm wrong, i would love to be wrong on this issue.
I'm sad, really sad, that my experience in getting a new (geeky) phone would be great but it's just not. The next level-up for me(android) rolled out a +4 on charisma but i needed the +dexterity and/or +intelligence
Mate, I don´t know if you just ordered a corrupted device...and of course I accept your experiences! But in most parts, I can´t share your points...

Have you ever updated your device? Are you on ICS? And, as we are on XDA here, did you try out some custom Roms? e.g. RocketRom & speedmodkernel?`I had the N900 as well...and dude, if the Note is slow & buggy...the N900 is mordors very darkest ork-hole^^

Again, made some updates etc? At least MY Note is responsive as hell, VERY fast, scrolling is smooth like butter...and especially browsing is the very best experience I ever had on a smartphone (and man, I had them all )
Came from N900.
But I beta-tested the SGS and DeZire... so got accustomed to Android eventually.
There's somethings you can't do easily or at all. It takes alot of fiddling to get it "right".
But eventually you make it yours. And thanks to a really large ecosystem and other great features... it becomes hard to use the N900 again.
I wouldn't pick the DesireZ over the N900... but with the beast (aka n7k) I feel like its a worthy successor. Just need to pray that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will use the Mainline kernel (3.5) and that it can be further "unlocked" by having deeper API's etc. One project to keep an eye on is the Necesitas, where they're trying to port the Qt (4/5) framework into Android... it would definitely "linux-ify" Android further. Or even the AML project, merging the mainline and Android kernels together.
I've had my Note for a month, and have reached the point where I would never want to go back to the N900 hardware keyboard. I suggest to learn swype, or try a few of the alternative keyboards. But even the stock Samsung onscreen keyboard is quite good - it saves a lot of time having the numeric keys always available.
The one thing I still miss is the N900's "mappero" mapping app (previously called Maemo Mapper). I've tried all of the available open source Android mapping apps, and they either have a deficient feature set, or they are buggy.
With a new platform, you always notice first the things that are missing compared to your old platform. Only later do you notice the things that are better. And so it is with the mapping app. Having discovered Osmand with its very efficient offline vector maps, I would miss those if I went back to mappero with its raster-only offline maps.
The hardware itself is everything that the N9x0 should have become.

Nowadays, physical keyboards are not a necessity for most of us since typing on a large screen like the Note is even easier. Thing is writting long emails or typing documents on a phone will always required a physical keyboard because this makes things easier to type at a constant speed with less or no mistakes than pressing virtual buttons on the screen.
If HTC or SAMSUNG could make a tilted screen phone with a physical keyboard similar to the 'HTC TOUCH PRO 2' or 'HTC Tilt 2' with a 4.7-5.0 screen, I'm pretty certain that many of us will shift to this phone.
Typing on galaxy note is awesome with Swype, the only thing is you should get used to it, the other big thing is spellings, since Swype will respond faster if you type correct spellings, for me it works like a breeze, for now with just Weeks into my note I'm deeply in love with this device as i surf the Web using wifi,i don't even open my laptop, the screen is just awesome not to mention the spen, I'm typing this using Swype,

Is your OPT feeling pretty slow?

Hey all,
I bought a One Plus 2 yesterday (coming from the Galaxy S6) and immediately noticed how unbearably laggy the Oxygen OS was - am I the only one experiencing this? I get a few moments of fluid animations but then things just get choppy, especially compared to the Galaxy S6. I've since put the Chinese Hydrogen version on and it seems a lot more fluid but I just feel like it should be a lot faster? I've been considering just selling it on but this phone is perfect in nearly every other regard.
I was thinking that maybe this is just how things will be until some decent updates come along? Unless I'm the only person experiencing the choppiness.. Then I suppose I should be pretty worried indeed. As a point of reference, I've also used the Moto X 2014 and Z3 Compact which both seemed considerably smoother in operation. Some input from you guys would be great, along with any tips you might have to get the most out of this amazing phone.
Thanks.
Lol coming from an s6 you think its laggy? I switched from an s6 and compared to that this is the fastest phone I've ever had
Sent from my ONE A2001 using Tapatalk
Yes it is laggy as oxygen is still on beta, but you should wait and give time as it is a beast, give some time to one plus and they will fix the issues
You did update it right? The build it comes with is as dog**** as the home button is
Just update to 2.0.2 and u'll be fine.

Yup.. It usually lags when you switch to airplane mode.

Phone is brand new. OxygenOS is in beta.. Let some development happen man, these specs dont lie
I updated and just got mine! Excited but it is slow. Some things up
Seems fast to me. I showed the OPT to my coworker who has an S6 Edge and he was impressed. He said it was faster than his S6. I didn't even ask him that.
Lol you obviously didn't use the fingerprint sensor to turn it on then or try to go to the home screen pressing the sensor home button. Jk
I've had several phones with fingerprint scanners and this one is by far the fastest so far and the phone is quick. Home button works great also. Maybe I just got lucky.
Yeah mine's pretty slow. I went into a phone store today and tried out the Huawei Mate 7, which on paper looks way behind the Oneplus 2, and it KILLED my OPT when opening apps.
I often get lag here and there, but this is less of a problem for me. My mane gripe is how long it takes to open an app. Like, I hit the Phone icon and it literally takes up to a second to launch. That Mate 7 was practically instant.
What gives, Oneplus?
A lot of the issues I initially had with oxygen were fixed after disabling hardware buttons, including excessive battery drain, heating up, and lag similar to what you're seeing. Maybe it has something to do with grounding? Or maybe I just got used to it :S
This phone is just not meant to be a daily driver with the frustration it brings. If you want to be less mad install cm 12.1. Makes things much better than oxygen
Try flashing OxygenOS 2.0.2 again and then factory reset. You may see a bump in speed. I personally have no quirks with the fluidity of the phone. While it does have some bugs all over the place, never once did the phone feel sluggish. But with that said, the OS does need a lot more polish to really make it feel truly complete. Right now despite all the OTAs OxygenOS still feels incomplete, or maybe its because I'm too used to the versatility of a CM based ROM.
It's slow for about a minute after boot but then things are really fast

Hey all,
I bought a One Plus 2 yesterday (coming from the Galaxy S6) and immediately noticed how unbearably laggy the Oxygen OS was - am I the only one experiencing this?
Thanks.

Actually, the problem is because 2 google apps are using your CPU way too much. Disable the sheets and the slides apps in settings and you should be fine. CPU usage dropped by 40% in cpu-z after disabling these apps.
Update:- actually the CPU now has really less usage after disabling (5% after disabling.).

That's something new.. I anyway just remove these apps from my /system..
Im on OOS 2.1.2 rooted.. Having xposed and AK kernel.. No lags.. Super fluid..
For those complaining about the slow app launching, download a 3rd party launcher and you'll see instantly the difference in app launching. I prefer google now launcher to maintain that stock feel.

You see, I saw some lag and I went to developer options>show CPU usage and the most of the CPU usage came from the sheets and slides apps.

Pretty unimpressed with my S6 (lag, lag, stutter ... )

I don't have a good first impression of my S6.
The stock rom eats 8G of the internal storage.
It has a terrible lag, and jitters all over the place. Even just scrolling up and down in the settings screen is laggy. The lag in Chrome gets very frustrating very quickly
Too much bloatware. A whole microsoft suite (among other things) that I will never use and cannot uninstall
Touchwiz launcher, its not really great
On the plus side
the finger scanner is good.
The screen is really nice, but I suppose rendering all those pixels is whats causing it to lag like crazy.
Pleased that samsung made a theme chooser. At last we can remove the awful default turquoise colours.
But I immediately know I'm going to have to root and put a custom rom on here to get it working to my satisfaction .... is there any ROM recommendations to remove all lags, stutters and bloatware?
Is it just me? I am surprised I don't see a ton of people complaining about this
Im on xtrestolite deo mod and have no of the problem i had with stock u could always get titanium backup and freeze all that bloat might help. I know that when i ran stock it would often run out of ram. Now i have betwewn 1 and 1.4gb free.
Wait for the Marshmallow update and judge it again then. Samsung redesigned the whole TouchWiz thing launcher, icons, performance everything. From what I read from the beta is really promising and fast.
Never saw any lag, stock or otherwise. I did occasionally have some low ram redraws on stock, but on roms those are long gone. Maybe take a look in your application manager at what's running and see if there's any unnecessary junk running that's eating your ram. Did it start or persist from any old software, or show up from new software ie updates?

Me too, no lag at all, with stock BUT... if you run MM BETA and then go back to 5.1.1 you will see a very "slow device"
This phone does lag like hell, I had one about 7 months a go and that wasn't too bad.
Picked one up last week and the difference is shocking now, have tried different launchers and no difference.
Makes me laugh how Samsung can't seem to make a phone that is smooth. I have even swapped this out for another one.
All this guff about no more lag in the press conference.
Never had any issues even before I rooted and put a stock modified rom, only thing I would have liked better is battery life, but I get a days use out of it atleast
No offense, but anyone saying the S6 doesn't lag or stutter must either not know what we're talking about or have low fps eyes ?. This phone is an absolute lagfest on stock firmware.
Try scrolling in Google+ or even Tapatalk and you'll see dropped frames all over the place.
Just about the only thing that helps is flashing a custom kernel and enabling enforced mode (try Unikernel for size). That makes a world of difference.
yes I have the s6 since 4 months now. before I had a oneplus one. this was fast. but the s6 is very Laggy. however it has the best benchmarks but the Ui it's definitely Laggy on every edge. so I had a lot of other devices before. for me the most qualcom devices are running smoother. but there are some other positive aspects on the s6

Lag?? U sure, mate? I'm using the S6 for more than a few months now and there is no lag in the UI. Maybe some minor frame drops occasionally (I'm sensitive to those , most people don't notice them), but no lag. It's not normal.
Mine is stock with some native apps disabled. Also I jave turned off the smart manager protection. And I can compare it with Nexus 5. I'v had many Android devices and I know what I'm talking about.

I've also owned countless Android devices (including Nexus). Most recently I came from an OPO and a Z3C before the S6. GUI lag/stutter is a pet peeve of mine with Android, and while the OPO was almost perfect after some optimization and the Z3C turned out OK, the S6 is frankly a joke in comparison. Especially considering its theoretically superior performance.

I think I'll try the Samsung marshmallow firmware, cheers for the tip @Riardon ... if its just the same I'll try some custom roms.
I'm kinda glad others confirm the lag/stuttering and its not just me.
For comparison, the phone I am replacing is a S5 running Exodus rom, there is absolutely zero lag or frames dropped in any scrolling or animations. It really makes the S6 look bad. Not what I expected as the S5 is like 18 months old now.
Here is a quick video I made for the non-believers out there. S6 is on the left. It doesn't matter that the video is not in focus (because of my finger getting in the way), the point I am trying to make is scrolling should be smooth on a new, expensive Android phone, I am astonished at how bad it is on the S6. Other places in the phone are also bad, Chrome is the worst though.

Keep in mind, however, if you do root you will most likely trip the knox counter on your device. This could cause some problems with warranty, and you would not be able to use Samsung pay on the device. If these things don't matter to you. Rooting is okay.

Rooting/flashing ROMs/kernels can be done without tripping knox by using the engineering bootloader. You'll find great tutorials here on xda.
My S6 has never lagged, not even on stock. I found it to be smooth in generally and I am someone who looks at framedrops and any other possible slowdowns.
Also guys don't forget to check your apps. It may sound weird but some well known apps causing some extra lag on top of what TouchWiz has. For example I found out that SwiftKey on my devices creates some extra lag and it's slower than other keyboards. Some apps are just not optimized well and this the reason some guys see worse lags and stutters than others. This one is tricky to determine those apps but you have to experiment. TouchWiz as it is now yes it's laggy but not worse than older TouchWin on S5 for example. Still needs work but Marshmallow is promising. Wait until then guys you may surprised pleasantly. Unfortunately some apps on Android running like sh***t and we blame the phone sometimes. And remember to always keep your phone at minimal. Disable all extra stuff you don't use and use only the apps you actually use often or truly need. This is for all phones not only for this one.

If I understand correctly using the engineering bootloader results in the loss of use of the fingerprint scanner.

Correct. So worth it imho though.

How do you guys can live with the lag on the exynos version ( not trolling ) ?

A week ago I got myself a s8 ,I have an iPhone 7 Plus and I’m so sick of having to deal with this size , it feels like a brick, plus I don’t like the “psysical button “ , I wanted to get rid of it so I gave the s8 a try , and so I did and I loved the design , the screen , the camera ( night shots are better than the iPhone 7 in my opinion ) but the performance is just awful , innaceptable for a flagship , choppy scrolling , the framerate skips like crazy sometimes , it just ... lags :/
I couldn’t believe it after reading the rave reviews , so it turns out that the European version has the Exynos cpu instead of the snapdragon 835 and the benchmarks don’t tell the whole story , I tried uninstalling unnecessary apps , deactivating bloat apps , deactivating the side panel , using nova launcher ( without using root or freezing apps or something like that , but it didn’t help , did you guys just get used to the lag ? :/ have you read that the performance on the note 8 is better (the example version of course ) and if it is , so you think it’s because of the extra ram ?
I’m hopeful that Samsung will make the performance better with the Oreo update but that update will probably come in December / January , what are we supposed to do until then ?
Coming from a Huawei Mate 9 and resently activating my note 8(snapdragon) it ain't much better. Nothing about this phone is butter smooth.
Will be getting mate 10 next month. First Samsung since note 3/4.
Not horrible but expected more with specs/company
I honestly don´t know what you are talking about. Maybe I just don´t notice it.
I know up to the Galaxy S6 the Samsung Flagships were always lagging like crazy with StockROMs, but at least since the S7 it´s smooth like other Flagships. (Always talking about Exynos)
Where do you experience the lag? I just checked Twitter, Menus and browser an couldn´t notice any
I use Nova Launcher, which definitely improves the experience a lot. Combined with changing animations to 0.5x it almost never feels laggy. I rarely switch back to TouchWiz to see if it has improved, but always end up going back to Nova. I also use Gboard instead of Samsung keyboard, which also feels snappier and has better prediction.

Same here ! No more lag with this setup
I have the dual SIM international version (Exynos) since around launch date. I don't recall any instances of lag. On rare occasions there is the odd app crash.
I have not used an iPhone for any length of time to be able to compare, but we have a couple of iPads, one of them is relatively new and when using it for general browsing, reading, etc, I don't feel that I get a markedly better or smoother experience. Both S8 and iPad just work very well.

I have an iphone 7 256gb Red Edition and my S8 is no more laggy than my iphone, yes iphone can lag too. BTW, iphone is for sale. You need to be more specific where you see lags if you want people to help. I get lag when scrolling on Piano Tiles 2 but that's because he's a ****ty developer but the game is awesome. Need way more details.
I have exynos version with custom rom and i have no lags. If you what have fone with no lags at all buy iPhone. Every android have Little lags and glitches.
DEVELOPER OPTIONS (see screenshot) transition animation speed 0.5x
I read a post in the Essential Phone forum:

To make it more snappy, go into developer options and set the transition speed to .5 instead of 1. That should make things seem to zip."
I've attached a screenshot, but my transition animation speed is still at default 1x (i.e., not the 0.5x recommendation).

All of this + youtube hdr playback above 720p. Seriously it should be fixed or bye bye samsung this time.
P.S The ``tremble`` is called stuttering and if you search from google you will found tons of users having exactly the same issue. In my oppinion the exynos processor throttles a lot due to overheating. Cant proove it though cause am no specialist on this matter

No lag for me, if there was then I wouldn't have the phone, I am EXTREMELY demanding. But then I dont have **** apps like twitter and facebook that are VERY badly written and drain the battery like theres no tomorrow. I also use nova so cant comment on whether any lag might be touchwiz related, not used touchwiz since my S3.

Weird thing-- I'm using one of the YouTube background play-enabled apps.. God I wish I could remember which one, but I got it here. Has some theme options, using one with a back background. I experience absolutely no lag with 1440phdr with this app.. No such luck with the base Youtube app
After cleaning up as many services as possible with Package Disabler, the rest of my interface lag has vanished (even in TouchWiz)
Last couple days have seemed like I have finally found the device the S8 is supposed to be, buried under the inefficient bloat and bogus it ships with.. Of course, I'm on the 835, so this may not have meant anything to begin with haha

Snapdragon isint much better either. My roommate got a pixel 2 XL and his phone is smoother (with all apps running) than my freshly factory reseted S8.
i just changed my iphone 7 with s8 exynos , i see no different in performance , in fact i loved s8 more , i can't deny that s8 have a little of lags but from my experience ios has lags too , i have 6:30H screen on time in my s8 , i never dreamed about that in my iphone 7 , in iphone I only got 5H screen on time
This is assuming the iPhone 7 suffered no lag or stutters under iOS 11. I came from the iPhone 7 and use to notice stutters while scrolling through contact lists and even the home button had delays. I've got Nova Launcher set up on my current S8 and stock rom with tons of apps and never formatted since I've been using it for the past 3months. I won't lie I did come across occasional stutters but I find it way more fluid than the experience I had on iOS. The list scrolling, app animations, etc is really smooth.

I agree to a certain extent. I used the Xperia XZ1 Compact for a month on Android 8.0. The interface felt faster than the S8 given the same developer options. You can speed up the S8 if you want by lowering the screen resolution (settings>display). But then you wouldn't have the higest (other than S7) screen DPI ever seen on a phone.
