Mobile Data Quick-settings toggle? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Is there any known way, short of root, to add a data toggle to my Quick Settings bar? I'm obsessively minimalist, and there isn't anything on my screen except the bottom bar and the notification bar, so adding a toggle there is not what I want. I know the root method is rocky at best, so I'm hoping there's some other way outside of that. If not, I'll just have to cope with opening settings every time I want to turn it on/off. Thanks in advance for any help.
Just realized, this should have been in the Questions subforum, not the Guides/Discussion one...

You've probably already done this, but adding Data Usage to the Quick Setting would be the quickest.

Status menu

Is there anyway to get a useful status menu like samsung uses? Looking for a way to get the status toggles when you drop down the status menu like I've had previously on a samsung vibrant, and I know still use on the samsung infuse. On those when you drop down the status menu, you have a wifi, gps, bluetooth, screen rotation and silent toggle.
My phone is rooted if there is any app or something that will add this and requires root.
Here is a good application for what your looking for, hope that helps https://market.android.com/details?id=de.j4velin.notificationToggle

Thanks for the app. I checked it out and it does have all the stuff I was looking for, however when you just have the horizontal menu it doesnt work for the xperia play, when you select a toggle it has a pop up and you have to hit it again. But it does allow you to just put whatever you want in the notification area one per line and those seem to work.
Thanks again
No worries mate and yeah it's the best you can get without downloading a custom rom, I think.

Thank you for that app. A tad annoying to have to confirm in a popup but still it is the fastest and cleanest way. I so much wanted to be able to change brightness when sliding down the notification bar and now I can!
If you have root and like the way samsung UI look you could try @thomassafca's samsung galaxy s II theme. He's just finished the toggles in the drop down. It will change alot of the icons, colors etc in the UI. Personally i think he's done a great job on the theme and it's still based on SE's UI and homescreen.
Regards Dousan...
Yeah he's done a good job with that theme. Though I much prefer the looks of our phones in its original state.

[Q] Beans ROM

Anyone know whether Beans' ROM (or stock, for that matter) is capable of disabling/hiding the notification toggles entirely? I'd inquire within his thread, but not permitted to because it's for devs only...
No, I don't see anything like that.

Not sure I totally understand the question, but you can hide the status/notification bar easy enough if you use Nova Launcher??

If you use Exposed, there is a module called NotifyClean that will hide what ever you want.

Thank you, but to clarify, what I was talking about was within the notification pull-down, at the top there is normally a row of toggles with items such as wifi on/off, bluetooth on/off, etc. While I realize that you can customize the order of the items that appear within this bar, as well as which items display, I am interested in knowing whether the entire bar can be removed/hidden.
thanks

Much gratitude; I wasn't aware that existed, and that sounds like it would do the trick.

That only hides the notifications, not the toggles (I use it myself & it works perfect for what it's intended to do but hiding the toggles ain't it)

Thanks for dashing the false hope! Back to original question: anyone? Might some other xposed module do this?
*bump* in hopes of someone knowing whether achieving this is possible (removing/hiding the toggles bar in the notification pulldown)
Message beans and ask him if it's possible. Beans is a very nice person and one hell of a dev. Just be polite and not demanding and he will probably at least respond

How do I make turning on wifi tether quicker?

Instead of having to go through all the settings, is there perhaps a widget or something I can add to my main screen that will turn my phone into a hotspot?
Thanks!
There's a quick settings tile. That's what I use to toggle it on and off.
yup, just use the quick setting tile.
you can change it to the first 5 by pulling down the QS panel and clicking the edit toggle on the bottom right. then drag away.
Thanks guys, worked perfect and is exactly what i was looking for..!

My Tmo V20 doesn't have that option. Are you using Verizon or ATT?

I have that option on my VZW V20..
T-Mobile does NOT have this toggle. there is however an alternative. look in the play store for apps like "tiles."

Location Found Notification

Whenever I turn on my screen, there's a Location Found notification appearing on my lockscreen. Any clue how I can disable that?

Is the location switch in the drop done menu on /
if yes, then turn it off and the issue should stop.
If no, then you need to find which app is asking for a location fix. It could be weather app.

Definitely want to keep location settings on. Curious how I could tell what app is prompting the notification though.

what apps do you have that rely on location ?
try disabling one by one till the notification does not appear.
Do you have a partner as I use this to see where my wife is using the android built in app, and when I do this comes up on her phone, so maybe someone is checking up on you?

Quick settings - hot spot toggle won't hide?

I've been setting up my essential phone and noticed a weird issue with quick settings toggles...I've reordered and removed some, yet hot spot won't go away.
I remove it, it shows removed, then if i close the area then reopen it, hot spot it back. Only happens with that one. Others have removed and stay removed, like location and cell data.
Am i only in this weird bug?
I'm also seeing this same issue on mine
I'm seeing the same thing. I'm also unable to create any app shortcuts – the long-press on the launcher just doesn't work. Works fine in every other app.
On the sprint version, it doesn't even have a toggle for that.

Yes it does. If you don't have it as an option, it hasn't been provisioned for your phone. Screenshot attached and yes I'm on Sprint

Ok, I don't subscribe to it so it doesn't show for me, sprint has hidden it in the settings, it's still there and it works without subscription.

Create a shortcut to it using your launcher, I'd suggest using Nova.

If it's not too much of a bother, could you just give a step by step of how to do this? Thx.

i'm doing this with nova launcher, however this should work with other launchers.
long press your home screen
go to widgets
nova widgets
drag activities to your homescreen
scroll down to settings
scroll down to tethering and portable hotspot, click it...
you now have access to the hidden tethering menu

It works with the default launcher as well. I haven't used it much, though, as I noticed it heats up the phone quite a bit.
Any way to being it back the icon to quick menu? It is very inconvenient to use an external app to bring up the shortcut.
