Serial number for recovery - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I have a big issue where my phone will not boot and it will only go to recovery and download mode so I need to do a stock recovery using smart switch but I don't have a Serial Number any Ideas or does anyone have a serial number I could use to be able to recover the phone back to a complete stock or the files to use ODIN?

Why don't you connect with Odin and flash the stock firmware if you have download mode? Easy and all here to read

As I have found both s6 and s7 CDMA versions does not have SN. Maybe you can try to call to your provider or Samsung us, and check it with them? I was not success with them, maybe you more lucky.

i have the same issue, i cant find the SN tryed with samsung and sprint with no success

Same here, I called Samsung and the rep not able to find any info on this Samsung Serial Number. She told me that they don't even use that anymore. She said that they don't even ask for your SN if you need some warranty job done. All you need is the IMEI for all of the newer model phones such as the S7. With that said, I think there seems to be some disconnection between the Smart Switch software and Samsung's new phone identification.

Need advice..
Sorry for my bad english..
Based upon claims your IMEI is fake, either the original IMEI was cloned and subsequently discovered, or the phone is counterfeit. I'd see about getting your money back, because Samsung won't touch it, and discussing methods to change the IMEI is forbidden here.

Don't worry about the IMEI Cert. Mine says "N/A" yet the phone functions normally.
As to the IMEI itself, when you enter *#06# into the dialer, what is the result? Do you get a number, a number starting with 049, or a null response? If a number, does that match the number in the battery compartment?
Any other result than a number matching the number in the battery compartment requires the phone be serviced, which may not be cheap, assuming Samsung even touches the phone.
Bluetooth and WiFi may work again if you flash the firmware for your device through Odin. But this phone will never make calls until the IMEI issue is resolved, if it can be resolved.

I don't think to make IMEI match anymore,,i just wanna my BT and Wifi work again.
i was flash firmware hundred of time,,change modem too,,but nothing happen
disassembly and check hardware was too but nothing happen

Send the device to Samsung for service. Especially if repeatedly flashing the firmware didn't fix the WiFi and Bluetooth. Be prepared to pay for the privilege.

Note 3 No Network / Wrong Serial Number .

Problem:Rooted the phone and due to some issues but somehow it became unrooted so I tried to root again but this time it failed during odin downloading mode halfway. so I unplug and was not able to boot up the phone. So i download and install the stock firmware from sammobile and manage to get the phone to startup . But the next issue is that the imei is gone and serial number's wrong with no network .
Did a bit of researched and I managed to write my own imei in through a thread I've found here . But my serial number is still different from what I've checked from the back of my phone and the network is still not up . I've check my ESN n MEID number is some random numbers or just 000000000 , tried to search for how to recover but to no avail.
I've tried doing imei repairs using GSII_repair and tried to follow some threads on things like deleting efs folders etc BUT I am not able to find the nv_data file even after rooting so decided to drop the method .
Do let me know what you guys need in order to troubleshoot the problem .
Did the phone's imei and serial # match the label before you rooted the first time?

Erm , I'm not sure about that thou . :crying:
Did you buy the phone new or used?
The easiest way to fix that, is to flash stock rom, but not just any ... it has to be the exact same region as the phone originated. Otherwise you get screwed EMEI, etc. Some countries the phone is carrier locked, so you also need to take that in account when getting stock rom. If you can't find those out... then it can be a problem. Maybe bring it into a samsung repair center to be checked out.

I flashed the stock rom from sammobile using odin , managed to get the phone up but thats when the imei and sn gets screwed up I think . I'm from singapore and our phones here are all unlocked . Used to work for 1 of the telcos here so I'm 100% sure it's not sim locked . I checked with my friends at samsung and they told me their process is to switch the motherboard and it's not worth the price, so I would want to try all the methods first before converting it as a expensive media player lol.
So the phone is originally from Singapore? Or you just flashed stock rom from Singapore? If the phone is originally from Singapore and you flashed a stock rom from Singapore, it should work... unless you tried changing the EMEI yourself. I think it's all messed up now, so you probably only have to take it to a shop that can do that for you. Changing motherboard from Samsung (or any manufacturer) is always super expensive. Hopefully you can find someone else with a small shop that can do it -- otherwise, I guess better to get something else (because price won't be worth it, as you say).
Good luck. Hope you sort it out.
PS, I like visiting Singapore sometimes... miss Brazil Churrascaria ^^.

Take your phone in for service. Trying to transfer the IMEI of a defunct phone to your working phone is illegal, period. No discussion of how to do it is allowed.

Lost Serial Number, needed for Smart Switch on PC

Yeah yeah I know, why didn't I keep the sticker on the back of the phone?
Hindsight's a wonderful thing, looking back!
I appear to have bricked my device. I have the exclamation mark in a triangle, with the following message:
"An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software"
I have the box which the phone came in so have the IMEI number, but need the serial number to use on Smart Switch.
Phone is SM-G935F model, which was running TEKXnesis rom, rooted. I was attempting to reinstall stock firmware, as I was having issues with the phone (Rom is excellent I hasten to add), and that's when the problem arose.
I can't boot into download or recovery (TWRP 3.0.2.0 was installed).
I have Googled but have drawn a blank, so any ideas would be most helpful.
Thanks
aldbeagle
There's a small letter that show serial number (s/n) along with your imei in the lower part on the back of the phone under the glass.
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Cheers, never knew that, but under the light of my trusty S3 torch it's clearly visible.
Have managed to get my S7 Edge back by flashing TWRP via Odin directly to the phone without being able to get into download mode.
Thanks again

Does the SN the on the G930U start with A3? I am in the same situation you were in and neither that or the IMEI is working. Any thoughts?

I'm in the same situation but the problem is that i replaced the back on my phone a while back so any where else we can find the serial number

No joke, this happened to me on Thursday as well. I was in the same boat as I took off the sticker and it's nowhere to be found on the box. What I did was I went to Samsung customer service live chat and gave them my imei and they gave me my serial. Then I was able to use kies3 and flash stock back again. I seriously thought I had completely screwed my phone and have to shell out 80 bucks for a repair shop to do it. Hope this helps as it worked for me. Good luck!

Why not just goto Settings 》About device 》Status
Scroll down there and you will find your serial number.

So you were able to talk to Samsung through live chat and they gave it to you from IMEI?
Which site and chat did you use if you don't mind? I did a mobo swap and only have a software S/N in settings.
hey everyone a bit of a different problem my Samsung S6 Galaxy Edge Plus was stolen and I file the police report and I asked for the serial number however I don't have it and I recently changed over to Tmobile so I can't look into my Verizon account and see if they have the serial number I'm about to check TMobile account but I don't remember seeing it on there previously is there any way else to find out what the serial number of your phone is it is still under my possession because I had purchased it right before it was stolen
For all those whom have lost your imei or serial number on your S7 if you dont have the box or the backing has been replaced,
If you remove the backing to the phone there is actually a sticker on the battery with a gold tab at the bottom of the phone that contains your imei number and also serial number.
Samsungs print the imei number on the devices 4 times 1st in ☆#06# 2nd is lasered onto the backing at the bottom 3rd is the sticker atached to the backing when first purchased & 4th is the sticker under the backing of the phone located on the battery at the bottom,
If you have lost your imei & not serial number also and cannot retreive it with stock firmware installation then use Z3X 29.8 cracked with the loader open the Z3x tool go to repair enter the imei printed on the sticker and click the repair button your phone will restart and your imei will be back you must have your phone rooted for Z3x to work however i have tested this repair on android 6.0,7.0 & 8.0 with Z3x cracked it changes the imei every time,
Dont try to change the imei to another different not matched to your phone and patch certificate as it will not work patch certificate only works in 6.0 if you change it to another go to ☆#0011# you will see at the bottom the imei say NG when it should say ok so domt change the imei and try to patch cert you can also set the sim count to 2 with 2 imei numbers also on the G930F to make it a dual sim as i have inspected plenty of G930F board and they all have printed on them G930F/G930FD/G930W8 i have also inspected the sim slots and they do indeed have the pins required already built in to the reader the only thing that is needed to change to dual sim is the dual sim card sim slot and set 2 imei number in the box and set sim count to 2 and voila z3x does the rest. Pls note though you cannot change the serial number on them with z3x thus serial number is what linked to the modem HW ID to allow the phone onto the carrier networks the best ive been able to do with android 7.0 & 8.0 on the V2 firmware is change the imei and when putting a sim card in getting the option for VOLTE however wont register on network and imei is still NG instead of OK in ☆#0011#
Anyway enough ranting of mine hope this can help someone and apologies for reply to an old thread guys im really baked and really bored buisness is slow today haha sunday in australia...... trying to figure out FRP removal on G930F V2 bootloaders also turns out if you extract the firmware with winrar then extract the AP file with 7zip then go to meta data inside that is a file called FOTA.zip well samsung have added there very own password to protect such file on the archive took a while but fotatest1234 isnt a very secure password samsung once extracted enter and find the build.prop enter that and theres all the information to edit the settings to enable ADB by default ive done that packed it all back up but just cant get it to flash ive used .imgTO.tar to convert the file to an MD5 that odin will accept and i get the message leave CS... which means odin has loaded the file and has found no error in the binary but as soon as i hit start odin will crash mabe it has something to do with odin and the edited build.prop or the way im packing the firmware back up anyone know what im doing wrong ? Any help greatly appreciated while im here

Samsung S7 SM-G930F wrong IMEI and model number

Hello guys. I am not quite new here, but I never registered (or I did but I couldn't find with which email or username).
However, I am having some trouble with Samsung S7 phone.
First of all, the IMEI on the About page is not the same as the IMEI on the back of the phone.
When I enter the IMEI from the back of the phone in IMEI checker, I get the right phone (Samsung S7).
When I enter the IMEI from the About page in IMEI checker, I get some old BLU phone.
Second problem is that I think this phone is not duos, however, whichever firmware I try to flash, I see the SIM card manager in the Settings. Which is weird to me.
Third problem is that the phone won't connect to network. I've tried 3 SIM cards (all 3 of those works on other phones), but this one just won't connect.
It shows full strength of signal, it also shows the phone number of the SIM, however, when I try to make a call, it says "Not registered on network".
The phone should not be locked as my brother said that he used it for some time, then he updated it to the latest OS and then did a factory reset. After that, the phone just stopped working.
Does anyone know what could be the issue? Why the IMEIs are different?
I am quite sure that the phone model is SM-G930F, however, the model number in Settings shows SM-G930FD. Which is again weird to me.
I've looked on the Google to see a picture of the SIM card slot of Samsung S7 duos and mine SIM card slot does not like that. Also, on one slot, it says only "microSD" and on another "SIM". So, I guess it is not a duos phone.
Any advices?
Thank you in advance!
All the best,
Dale
It sounds like somebody has changed the IMEI of the phone and patched the certificate for the IMEI to work.
Once you reset the phone or update the firmware on it, it will remove the patched certificate allowing the changed IMEI.
You will need to look for someone that does IMEI repair / change to get it working for you again I know there is a guy on the forums here that does them for free. Look through the s7 edge sub forums for them.

Well, I already flashed the firmware multiple times with different basebands and versions of the firmware as I thought that the firmware is wrong. Also tried to flash the firmware with Phone EFS Clear option checked in Odin.
Everything else on the phone works.
Sorry that this isnt help but you not alone, I unbricked a Samsung S7 (SM-G930F) after it suddenly just bricked (hard brick/soft brick - same thing). Eventually when I installed nougat on it, and finally wanted to use the phone, i tried a simcard and noticed how it would load all saved contacts but whatever I dailed, it responded "Not registered to network". Checking the model number it is now SM-G930FD but i am unable to verify the imei becuase of missing box. I tried many firmwares (even those that specify its for SM-G930F) but the model number remains SM-G930FD.
could any help plz be posted...
