[Q] Create ODIN flashable zip from TWRP backup - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

dear members,
I need help in creating a odin flashable file from TWRP back for SM-900F
I have seen some guides on net for creating the zip file, but i have two system.ext4.win files named as system.ext.win000 and win001
I have attached screenshot of twrp backup folder showing all files available.
After flashing custom ROM, camera has always failed on TW ROMs for me.
But i have TWRP backup of my original ROM in which camera was working.
can somebody please guide how to create a odin flashable zip.
Problem is that if i restore via TWRP , then it enters into a bootloop.
not sure why. any ideas how to resolve bootloop would be useful. Do i need to be on the same bootloader and modem as the backup being restored ?
thanks in advance ....

could be the bootloader, but most common thing thats caused bootloops on my G900p is the presence of those pesky android file folders on internal and the sd card. Delete them in twrp, wipe and then try a restore

[HELP][Q] I9500 Stuck at samsung logo + an empty EFS folder

Hy everyone,
I'm a little desperate now. my i9500 is stuck at Samsung logo even the animation sound that not complete, i had mokee rom 4.4.2, made a restore from a previous nandroid backup, barebone prism rom V3.0 worked perfectly, installed nandroid manager and restored some access point passwords, worked perfectly so far, my phone reached 1% in battery then turned off after a while. when i wanted to reboot it, the phone freezes in Samsung logo.
Recovery: Philz touch recovery
I tried everything that i know about,
1° reboot in revocery and restore from a previous nandroid backup (NOT GOOD)
2° reboot in recovery, perform a full wipe, restore from a working previous backup (NOT GOOD)
3° reboot in recovery perform a wipe reset (NOT GOOD)
4° restore via odin in download mode last stock firmware for my phone I9500XXUEMJ8 (NOT GOOD)
5° i tried mounting all partitions for check and .... Eroor mounting /efs!
i checked efs folder with aroma file manager ... 0 files inside :crying:
i had a previous backup for EFS found in kies in .tar.gz format
i tried to restore it with several methods
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392632
guess what ?? NOT GOOOD
i tried manually to copy files in EFS folder and changed the permission for EACH file with the same permission from the backup in my laptop then i reboot in recovery, the files still inside but when i reboot the system, the files are gone
i've read somewhere that there is two type of efs , and the efs made by some old stock rom won't work for a new one (Personally i don't know but like i said i'm desperate) so i downloaded from sammobile the FIRST rom that was in my phone and put it via odin (Re partition was never checked) then i tried the methods above ... :crying::crying::crying:
because i only have .tar.gz i tried restore it and witout rebooting the phone ===> (EFS Folder not empty YET) made a backup in .img format so that i can restore in /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 still not good
so i REALLY need your help and plz do not ask me to go to service center, warranty binary status is 1
Thanks everyone and have a good day

you need to flash a efs partition via odin. in tar format.
the your phone will boot normally. unistall knox and only then you could put your efs backup to the phone.

Save internal storage from i9505 software brick/stuck on bootlogo

Hello,
since one week my device, a samsung galaxy s4 i9505, is software bricked and stuck on bootlogo and I've been tryin to save my internal storage, but I'm close to giving up. I hope someone here can help me.
My situation:
1. Updated my TWRP to version 3.0.1-0-jfltexx with odin 3.10.0
2. Flashed new ROM "OMEGA ROM", that worked good.
3. Backup with TWRP, successfull, reboot, galaxy logo appears, flash, again -> bootloop
4. Flashed firmware "i9505XXUHOB8" BL and modem, with odin 3.10.0 in BL and CP
5. No bootloop anymore, but stuck on ROM Logo with normal start and with recovery start blue text "recovery booting..." on galaxy screen but nothing happens.
6. Saw that TWRP 2.8.7.0-i9500 is the recommended TWRP for the i9505, flashed the .img.tar with odin 3.09 in AP (is the .img a problem?) but still same problem, with TWRP 2.8.6.0-i9500.tar too.
6. Tried different firmwares: i9505XXUHOB7, i9505XXUHOF2, i9505XXUHOJ4 -> I thought the problem is the bootloader -> odin error: complete (write) operation failed or NAND write error (->problem was usb port)
7. Tried different odin versions: 1.85, 3.10.6, 3.09
8. Tried different usb cables
9. Flashed cf-auto-root to mount the data partition, but theres no option. Recovery mode is now working, but the samsung recovery, not TWRP.
10. Tried to copy internal storage with ADB, can navigate the directory but can't pull or cd /storage/sdcard0 -> no such file or directory, same with /mnt/sdcard (ADB only works during the ROM logo)
11. Flashed stock samsung firmware "i9505XXUHOJ2_i9505AUTHXXUHOJ1_i9505XXUHOJ2" with odin 3.09 -> now stuck on samsung boot logo. My ROM is now deleted, right?
12. Wipe cache don't help
13. Could wipe data/factory reset or repartition with odin but then I will lost my internal storage.....
I have a backup from the successfull backup with TWRP, but can't open the data.ext4.win001 after rename it (the .win000 is ok)....
Can anyone help me or have an idea how can I save my data and repair the system?
-Mr.Tea
use TWRP to copy files from internal storage over to external SDcard for stuff you wanna keep.
if you manage to backup the data partition you're supposed to be able to extract apps and data from a nandroid with titanium backup pro (never tried it though).
this data you wanna save, if it wasn't created while running omega rom then it wasn't likely to work with it anyway. that could be the source of your bootloops. if that data came from a previous custom rom then try to go back to it, and if successful backup apps with titanium and files to SDcard. you can't keep your data partition and go into a new rom with it.
if the data came from a stock rom you'll loose it trying to go back so extracting from a nandroid is probably your best bet there or restoring once back to stock.

TWRP is not working anymore -> blue text "Recovery booting..." on galaxy logo
In many forums they mean TWRP backup not includes the internal storage (/sdcard partition)?!
Can extract my "data.ext4.win000" and "data.ext4.win001" but not find the /sdcard location or my userdata.

try TWRP 3.0.0 by JDCteam, hundreds of happy users there. if it works first time make sure to try backing up your data partition and then wiping it. you can copy your media storage with the built-in file browser as mentioned.
you've got bigger problems if it's not data causing your problems...

help! accidentally deleted OS in twrp

i dont know how it happened but when i load up twrp it says " no OS available".. any help ?
go to https://webchat.freenode.net/ and join channel #twrp and ask one of them fine folks if they have a nandroid backup of /system for you
it say i cant join the channel
Here is a TWRP backup of stock unmodified /system for the T-Mobile LG V20.
Unzip it, and place on SD card. For safety, ensure that you have MD5 verification enabled.

Thank you!
Thanks Vuciz, this saved my a$$. But I can't boot into TWRP recovery anymore and I can't flash it again. Any idea?
how do i install it after i unzip the file , sorry im sorta new to this
You have to use TWRP recovery to restore this backup. And btw I reflashed the recovery , thanks again Vuciz
I uninstalled the file from the zip but I cannot restore it in TWRP it is not showing up in the packages to restore. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. I unzipped the file and then put it on my SD card. I am thinking that I need to copy all the files in the Stock system folder and then use that to restore the system.

How were you able to restore this? When I go into restore the files do not show up.
If you're looking for a stock system.img to flash instead of using a nandroid backup here you go. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69545764&postcount=832
Yeah I couldn't backup just placing the unzipped folder at first either. The path for me to restore it was your_ext_sd/TWRP/BACKUPS/LGh918e9e94bc/Stock_System
Not sure if the "LGh918e9294bc" matters, but I did have another backup there created by TWRP so I just put this stock folder right next to it. You could probably try to create a dummy backup just to see where it stores it.
Another note is this backup will set your phone model to Pixel XL
I was successfully able to restore the image but my phone is stuck at the LG screen and is not booting past that. Any suggestions on what I should do?

First, you should never try to flash OTA zip file (file under 1Gb) in TWRP.
If you say you can't read/write your internal memory when your phone is booted, it seems to be a permissions problem: follow this tutorial in TWRP to get good permissions back.
I have Flashed ota full.(1,5gb)

So.... I'm in a similar situation here, I've downloaded the full OOS 4.5.10 and have copied the zip file to the root directory of the phone, but when I tried to flash the zip file via twrp, I cannot locate the file with twrp's file manager. I believe that the culprit is the above mentioned permissions setting problem, while the codes from the tutorial should rectify the permission issue, I just want to make sure that the codes won't wipe all the data off from my phone. Can someone please confirm this? Thanks in advance.
Same issue
I was having the same issue while updating 1.5gb zip file.so i flashed file through OTG pen drive. I have searched for the solution but not convincing.
