Lock the bootloader? I used the app asus to unlock the bootloader and does not want to block again, no solution?

Does this firmware vers. cause issues with recovery?

So I got this OTA update before I finally decided to root/unlock/etc my device. After success with rooting and unlocking the bootloader, I simply can not get any custom recovery to work. Sadly I have seen the problem mentioned several times here on this forum with no answers.
Basically, after a successful installation of a recovery (via android terminal method or pc/fastboot method), I'll boot the phone into fastboot, then select 'recovery.' Screen goes to black, vibrates twice, and reboots to fastboot instead. Only after I boot normally, then reboot into fastboot and try to select recovery again does it boot into a error message (instead of bootlooping), and after 30 secs it loads what I assume is some version of stock recovery.
Can OP ( or anyone else) lend their thoughts?

Hi
Last days i rooted my Asus Zenfone 5 T00J with Lollipop. I installed Xposed Framework too, and now i want to experience with modules, but i'm scared about bootloop caused by Xposed, so now i want to install this custom recovery for a nandroid backup.
I read all the posts and i'm a little confused and scared
What's the complete procedure for bootloader unlocking? Is secure? I will lose my files? And especially, it's necessary??
And i read about problems with this recovery, about a kind of 'splash' something, or a kitkat 'white/black screen'? I don't know, i'm on Lollipop and i want to stay there :fingers-crossed:
I want also know, what's right way for install recovery? Auto installer? How it works?
Please be specific :silly:

From Custom Rom to Flyme Official?

Hey guys,
so just in case I would sell my phone in future .. I would know how to get back to full official Flyme Rom with locked bootloader and meizu stock recovery. In the cm12.1 thread is one tutorial in the headpost but I've read the comments in the thread and now I do not know what is right and what is wrong to get back official Flyme Rom. Please, can someone tell me how I get this done, PLEASE
You have to flash patched recovery flyme, and then flash original flyme rom by normal way( recovery mode or choosing the rom with a file explorer)
Enviado desde mi MX4 mediante Tapatalk
And that is the safest way?
As i know, is the only way, if we are talking about andriod mx4. I did it and no problems.
The safest way to flash patched rechovery is via fastboot.
Enviado desde mi MX4 mediante Tapatalk
move offical rom to root direc. and flash patced recovery. turn off phone. press volume up + power button. select update and clean data.
OK thanks guys

Wait you can brick your phone. Some people have tested it:
- Back to Flyme 4.2.8.2 patched
- Reflash Flyme 4.2.8.2 official
- Full Re-Lock
IF YOU FLASH ANOTHER FLYME (NOT 4.2.8.2) OFFICIAL IS FULL BRICK.

TWRP 3.0.0, anyone tried? Test and feedback.

Hi guys,
TWRP 3.0.0 has just been released. Did any of you flash it?
I did not yet as I am trying a rom and don't need to flash anything until next week.
How about the following points?
- backup/restore ==> Does not map correctly efs, thus does not back it up.
- encryption ==> Confirmed OK on COS 12.1 by @geowolf1000, but failed on several CM13 (Sultan's version + official nightlies) data partition with no logic found yet. It seems to depend if encryption has been made on a CM12 then upgrade to CM13 or directly under CM13.
- f2fs support ==> Confirmed OK by @Haiqal Johari
- modems/firmwares flash ability ==> Confirmed OK by @Haiqal Johari
Unless there is one thread already, that might be good to centralize the feedbacks.
Download link ==> https://dl.twrp.me/bacon/
Official thread in OPO Original Android Development section ==> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766186
Flashed the new version through TWRP 2.8.7.0.5 materialized. Good interface and quite smoother than the 2.8.7.0.5.
After that i flashed the BlissPop 6.0 Chimera (Hybrid-CAF) and it has booted succesfully.
The rest i did't tied it but i prefer much more the 3.0.0 version than others.
Also decrypt successfully for me
I did not test firmwares because latest cos 12. 1..1 works great to my needs

How to root Zenfone 2 with official Android M installed

Hey guys, I'm wondering how to install root access to my Zenfone 2 ZE551ML (Z00A) with the latest firmware update.
I saw that there was a way to do it by recovery but it was for the beta and I'd rather do it in some other way.
Does anyone know a working way to root it?

I wouldn`t be so sure. I followed the steps and it didn't work. My bootloader is locked, as it was on LP. Some people say we need to downgrade, unlock bootloader, flash MM again and root, but I'm not in the mood to do it now. Some users on that thread say tethered TWRP should work on locked bootloaders, but it's not working on my phone, and I'm not the only one who reported the same.

The title of this thread is very misleading. It's declarative rather than interrogative; I thought it was a guide or something.

Thamks for the info. I didn't want to unlock the bootloader, but maybe it's the only way. I'll test it when I get home from work.
Regarding your issue with xposed, if you flashed twrp or can at least enter fastboot mode and issue a "fastboot boot twrp.img" command to boot into twrp, there's a xposed uninstaller zip you can flash to recover from the bootloop. I've had to use it before on other phones and it always worked like a charm.
MM Root + xposed ok on Z008
Hi Guys,
I have a Z008 and did the official upgrade to MM yesterday.
But before doing the upgrade, I unlocked my booloader while in LP (using the official Asus apk)
After the upgrade I got rooted + xposed using the same procedure than for beta MM (shakalaca method):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/android-6-0-beta-root-xposed-downgrade-t3404321
For those who want to downgrade safely to LP, Asus provides a downgrade image on its support page, and Z00A as well (didn't try):
https://www.asus.com/fr/Phone/ZenFone_2_ZE550ML/HelpDesk_Download/
Hope it will help

I didn't understand the video, but the links provided in the comments worked. annoyingly i can't post the link on here but the video was called "How to root Zenfone 2 Android 6.0 Marshmallow" by Quang Boom on youtube
unfortunately i then tried to get xposed working and softbricked my phone in the process so its back to square 1 for me!

Finally got it all up and running with xposed, thanks for the link gilleshander.
So guys, tried to root MM official via booting TWRP 3.0.2-0 and flashing supersu 2.73: bootloop. Need I to flash supersu 2.74 beta? I came from LP with unlocked bootloader and root, so i'm ready for testing

It really wouldn't hurt your phone more than it is now, would it? Maybe that's why the guide containing the procedure to root the MM beta rom specifically talked about the supersu zip beta version.

Following this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/discussion-oreo-final-t3746561/page1.
It works only for Exynos version.

Yes you can. If you're running stock then flash SuperSU if you would like TWRP to be able to mount \data. Otherwise Magisk works fine too.

Yes, I know. I come from Renovate Ice Custom rom so my knox is already tripped. I'd like to know what version of TWRP I should flash or if I need to wait a newer version to be released.. I've looked for around but I can't find anything.

Ok, TWRP 3.2.1.0 should be fine?

Oreo bootloader (v3) block motherboard. You never can root your phone, never. If you try to put twpr you make a hard brick. Forget to root your phone for the rest.

After I upgraded to CRAP via Odin twrp 3.2.1-0 is unable to mount data. Any idea why?

I don't think it's too old not sure to be honest. the last part as i said is to format data if you follow the guide in the link i gave, you should be fine after that.

i did the bit with the format, was able to mount data, write my backup, reboot into recovery again, mount data
but when i rebooted the phone to the OS and then to recovery again, data was not able to mount, again.

No its fine. You said you did a backup yes? if so that means everything is working, don't worry about the mount options after that, they auto mount when you need them
