ATT running special... - AT&T Note 7 Questions & Answers

I have been thinking I'm not interested in the Note 7...but ATT has a special: buy a Note 7 (preorder), get a Gear S2 and a Galaxy Tab E free (don'tknow what size of tab). Do a second one, and get 695 credit.
Makes it tempting.

getting the s gear 2 classic upgrade for 50 bucks and don't forget the 250 gig memory card you get also !

Its somewhat of a deal but they are going to charge you $10 a month for connecting the device, same with the tablet they are offering. So in the long run you are going to pay for whatever you decide to get.

Yup, Each device requires a service contract. Stupid deal IMO, even if you want the tablet/watch. You can buy for cheaper out-right from amazon or somewhere else. 10/m over 2 years is over $250 w/ all fees. You can still get the -real- free gift from Samsung.

remember that the $10 a month covers cell access not payment of the device. Yes you can get cheaper from Amazon but you still have to pay $10 for cell access, if you want a Gear S2 that can make cell calls.

If you go with att. Can you still get the Samsung promo?

Yes you can still get the samsung promo!

Once you get your phone you go to the samsung web site and fill in the offer for the gearfit or card. I got the tablet and watch from at&t and I'm waiting on the phone. The watch and tablet use number sync so they look like you're calling on your phone.

I would have been tempted, but the gear s2, tab e, and 2nd galaxy phone all require new line activations, and 2/3 require a 2 year contract.

Yes. I did them all.
I upgraded my Note 5 to 7 (used an existing upgrade from my family plan)
- AT&T - got the Gear S2 watch free (it is a 4g phone as well, which is why it required the $10.00 per month charge)
- AT&T - got the free 8" Tab E tablet
- AT&T - got the $695 discount deal (for getting a new line) on a second Note 7 on flexpay (works out being about $7.00 per month)
- Samsung - Got the 256gb SDCard... in 12 weeks or however ridiculously long of a wait.
- Samsung - got the Gear Fit deal for the second phone...

Check your order status with Samsung. They are being VERY fast with shipping these things out. Quite a few people are already getting tracking numbers, and I have been approved and pending shipment. So you should crush the 12 weeks... (BTW it was 4-6 weeks for verification, then 12 additional weeks to deliver if you read the fine print. Had they done that, you are looking at 2017!)

You can just pay the ETF of $150 after getting the GS2 and the Tab E (which is cheaper than buying either right out).
That is what I will probably do with my Gear S2 after a month or two to see if I really do need cellular or not.
That tablet was crap imo.

Anyone find a place where to get this price for upgrades? Amazon's giving $.01 for new activations, but price goes up to $289 or something for upgrades.

I'm thinking of switching to AT&T since I'm not currently in a contract and I think I'd much rather keep with a gsm carrier since I have a habit of changing phones frequently. Is the Skyrocket pretty much the best device available right now?
The Galaxy S II is currently the top dog in AT&T's line up. The Skyrocket has a bigger screen, but as for hardware spec., the Galaxy S II reigns supreme.

You signed another contract just to get a deal on a phone? Wow, man... I hope you thought that through. Where I live, even if they gave you $100 with your free phone, you'd still be losing a ton of money in the long run.
Just make sure not to cancel your contract before the 2 years is up as Amazon charges and extra fee of you do.

It doesn't use the Samsung exonys processor, other than that better in every way.

It's more than just a different CPU. But can you elaborate on your statement? "It's better in every other way" What makes the Skyrocket better than the SGS2?
It has LTE, 4.5' inch screen, Qualcomm instead of exynos in sgs2. Other than this everything else is same I guess. But I would take the speed of exynos processor any day than the crappy qualcoms.

*(NO CONTRACT!!)* T-Mo Galaxy SII $299.99 @ Walmart

http://slickdeals.net/f/5048656-T-Mobile-Galaxy-S-II-No-Contract-for-299-Walmart
taken from slickdeals.net
"T-Mobile Galaxy S II No Contract for $299 @ Walmart
Available at Walmart Wireless locations now:
T-Mobile No-Contract Galaxy S II for $299 with activation of one of the following:
T-Mobile Prepaid Monthly 4G - $30 and up monthly
Walmart Family Mobile Activation ($25 activation kit which includes SIM card)
Details:
Existing Walmart Family Mobile customers can apparently still get the $299 deal. Existing Monthly 4G Customers cannot get the deal, however they can activate the new phone and should be able to call in to transfer their previous account info into the new account.
I'll be answering questions here (also on the page linked below). Walmart does have these, look at the photos on the page. Ask someone competent in the Walmart Connection Center and ask if they have them in stock. They got the update on their computers last week on the deal and how it works. Stores received them between August 8th through the 13th - some earlier.
Source:
http://www.thatsitguys.com/news/t-mobile-galaxy-s-ii-goes-prepaid-at-walmart-349
Adding this to clear up questions
There seems to be a lot of incorrect assumptions on here as well as a lot of misinformation being given. Let me clarify everything. Also, it would be worth reading the info listed in the source.
This deal works ONLY at Walmart stores back in the Connection Center. Stores should have received them and should have the info tags posted next to their Walmart Family Mobile display. There are no additional discounts or rebates available on this. The Galaxy S II is $570 outright, so you are effectively getting this phone for $270 off already.
There are two separate ways to attain the Galaxy S II for $299:
¤ Activate a Walmart Family Mobile account. This will require a $25 activation kit, which includes your WFM SIM card. For more info on that, view the source. Existing customers of WFM should be able to get this deal after confirming their account.
¤ Buy the Prepaid variant - aka, the T-Mobile Monthly 4G Pink Box. This includes the Prepaid SIM card in the box, which they will activate for you. You must get a monthly plan valued at $30 and up.
Not all stores have these phones yet, but that has to do with their ordering system and their competence."

Agree with you there.. Galaxy Nexus is a way better phone (IMO) for only $50 more.. and its unlocked so you are not limited to WFM or T-mobile. You could use StraightTalk if you wanted.. which is what I use..
This offer on the S2 is still a good opportunity, special since its the only Decent phone available for Prepaid customers (WFM is prepaid too)
(hunting a deal on the Galaxy Nexus, need one for the girlfriend )
Also of note is in Canada the same version of the SII (just minus t-mobile branding) is available for $300 with a $100 gift card from Koodo or $150 on their tab
i wish I could find the Dam phone,I've been to 2 Wally World stores..no luck

I went ahead and grabbed one of these for a couple of reasons. I really wanted a risk free way of trying out Tmo $30.00 plan and the Galaxy Nexus is $80.00 more for me in Cali after shipping and tax.
Since these are going for more on the local CL I can try out the service and then break even when I sell it.
It's going to be interesting carrying my Gnex and the S2 around at the same time. Both are pretty good sized phones!

How are so many S3 owners already eligible for an upgrade?

I have seen so many S3 owners saying they used their upgrade to get this phone, but this phone wasn't even released until 7/10/12, which was only 21 months ago, so how are so many getting to upgrade early?
I don't know about anyone else, but I have unlimited data and pay full retail. Anyone in that situation can buy a phone whenever they want.
Have you tried calling and asking for an early updgrade, I am guessing if you call once or twice, you will have success if you lock in. Obviously, people have additional lines, etc., and use work arounds to get upgrades.

I looked at that, but it seems awfully expensive in the end. What is the monthly cost on the S5 with Edge? Do they keep the phone even if you do pay enough to cover the full price after 2 years?

If you wait every 2 years it probably wouldn't be worth it, but if you upgrade every year it's not really that bad. It's about 25 bucks a month extra, so over the course of the year, it would cost $300. Considering you probably pay around $250 for a new phone when it is time to upgrade, your really only paying $50 more a month to be able to upgrade every year. You cannot keep your phone for early edge. But after that, I'm not sure.
I did the edge program. I got 10gb of data shared with my wife. They give you am extra $25 off the cost of edge. So I am only paying 22¢ a month for each phone.
I didn't want to do the edge previously, they changed the pricing and now it cost us almost the same amount we were paying with our separate accounts.

Lol. 2 ways. You pay a prorated amount so if you have 3 months left on your contact you will only pay like 11 dollars per outstanding month. $33 dollars isn't a deterrent for most.
Also, a large portion of phone buyers (myself included) pay non contract prices for their phones.
Follow Me @Bash_array
Sell s3 then go for an s5.LOL
I came from the s3, but I came to the s3 from the galaxy nexus. Got my nexus on upgrade, s3 i got from a friend for 100 bucks after they cracked their screen and use their dad's upgrade to replace it. I spent 18 bucks and put new glass on.

I upgraded from my S3. I paid full price
Came from the S3, didn't pay early upgrade fees or pay full price and kept my unlimited data plan! I call that a Win Win situation!
On top of that I bought my wife a S3 right after the S4 came out and we both upgraded to the S5!
We have 5 lines on our family plan and we use the other 3 (which aren't data lines and have non-contracted phones). We upgrade the other lines when we want to get a new phone. Since we plan on having a cell phone no matter what and Verizon has the best coverage in our area we don't mind the 2 year contracts.
So we are working on getting all of our personal items off the S3's right now so that we can sell them and cover that cost of the S5's. (BTW, I forgot to mention, we bought 1 S5 and got 1 for free through Verizons special they were running, so other than being locked into a 2 year contract we will basically get them for free!).
Win Win here as well. I used the upgrade from another line on my family plan and I did it through costco so it was only $100 bucks. I was able to keep unlimited too

AT&T is doing $200 off with a smartphone trade in and as long as it meets $10 on their trade in calculator they will give you the money, regardless of if it has a cracked screen. My LG G2 with just a cracked screen is worth $19 according to the calculator, however the headphone jack is busted and cracked so according to the calculator it's worth $0, but if it was JUST a broken screen it would have qualified for the $200.

Yes but at&t told me I have to spend all $200 on accessories (they did not have one for note 5 also) on that day only.
The wireless charger that is being given out is the current non-fast charging pad. If you read the fine print, it specifically has a SKU stated which is the same one being sold in stores currently.
As for the trade-in offer, the phone must be a postpaid type smartphone, and cannot be one that is prepaid or commonly sold on prepaid.

What phones were they? I feel like there isn't a clear description of what these phones need to be. One best buy told me it has to me the current phone on my contract, another told me it couldn't be older than a galaxy S3.
I have a Moto X 2013 I've had to use as a backup phone a few times. Looks like I would only get about $75-$100 on eBay. I might just trade that in. If I ever need a backup phone again, I'll just buy something for $50.

It only has to be worth something, go to bestbuys trade in page and look up any phone you have or wish to buy as trade in. As long as it's worth some sort of trade in value you'll get the full $200. It doesn't not need to be any phone currently on your plan, it does not need to be a phone on your carrier. Just has to be a working smartphone that you'd buy from a carrier "postpaid" basically any phone you'd buy with a 2 year contract. I did this last year for the note 4. I trade in my parents old Verizon Samsung fascinate it was worth 15 then and I got 200. And I have AT&T
do you have to purchase a smart phone plan with this or can you just purchase the phone straight out with a trade in?

Planning on jumping to the note 8?

With the note 8 announcement a few days away who is planning on getting this phone?
I am perfectly happy with my s8+ and can't imagine the note 8 will be that much better than the s8. I could give in to impulse and jump to the note 8 though

My Note 5 completely hardware crashed so I'm using a S7 Edge ATM until the note 8 released but I will wait to see what actual specs are. If they are not that much difference from S8+ then I will Seattle on S8+ so I don't spend the extra $$$.
ill be jumping to the note 8 for sure i want dual cameras and the pen
More than likely i wont. But my wife probably will cause her s8+ is cracked at the screen and now has a yellow tint that cannot be removed. At $175 for a claim, with TMO JUMP we actually owe less than that to JUMP and switch to another phone so its a no brainer to switch.
Im am definitly getting the note 8 from tmobile soon as pre order hits anyone know how much down or the full price
I will just because I always jump when new phones come out for the freebies

Down payment would depend on your credit standing and full price upwards of $800 probably.

I've been on Jump 2.0 for the longest time, can you or anyone else please elaborate the difference between JUMP and JOD with the exception of JOD allowing you to upgrade more often with $0 down and a couple extra a month compared to JUMP. What other advantages/disadvantage between the two?
Nope. Don't need the pen. Not much differentiation to the S8+. Don't like the edgier design either.

Could be wrong but with JUMP you must pay 50% off of the current device while JOD there is no required amount to pay off. Not sure of the price difference per month. JUMP is $12 a month if i'm not mistaken.

Yep, that I know too.
I guess what I'm looking for are positives of staying with JUMP instead of changing to JOD.
$425 discounts for Note 8, for former Galaxy Note7 owners.

You know, it's funny, with EITHER of those "freebies" I don't see myself being compelled to move to the Note 8 even though I have jump on demand. The device is just not that great. In terms of Tmobile, it's not even compatible with their 600MhZ band.

According to the Samsung website, it does not list S8 / S8+ models as an available trade in. Also, how about those that are still on the Note7?
I originally had 3 Note 7's, mine, wife, mom. I gave mine up for the S8+, mom did too, wife kept Note 7. So would we technically all 3 would be able to update to Note 8 at a $425 discount on each of the 3 phones? Also, how would it work since all 3 phones are currently on T-Mo?

I got this from the tmobile website:
https://www.t-mobile.com/devices/samsung-galaxy-note8
Look at the section at the bottom titled "Questions about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 at TMobile":
I bought the Galaxy S8 with JUMP! On Demand. How much will it cost to JUMP! to the Samsung Galaxy Note8?
Customers are responsible for the down payment as well as applicable devices taxes.
For the Galaxy Note8, the down payment for well qualified JUMP! On Demand customers, would be $0 and then $39 each month.
So... Not quite sure where you're seeing that the S8 isn't eligible for trade-in. I'm not going to do it, but I'd rather have valid information disseminated than not.

With TMo it is. I am referring to the Samsung website that I quoted before. If you are eligible for the $425 discount, click on Get Started and you'll see the selection only goes up to the S7/edge models with no mention of the S8/S8+

Yes, but that would be going through samsung, how would it work with T-Mo since I got the 2 S8+'s from them instead of Samsung...
