[Guide] How to install kitkat on 5.1.1 bootloader - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 General

1. Download nj5 modem and flash with odin select ap slot
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95857557620392024
2. Download these two files
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/development/definitive-root-deodex-knox-free-t2975372
And
http://www.mediafire.com/?d2v2p5l68t4laz8
3. Flash the Definitive rom
4. Install nadia kernel
5. Reboot and enjoy

I can't find which file I need it's the Omega download. It says it's on page 39 but I don't see it....I'm on 5.1.1 and I wanna flash 4.4.4
Sent from my SM-N920F using Tapatalk

Can someone please I need the omega rom the download speeds are crazy slow is there any other links besides omega?? What's so special about omega rom why do we need to download both roms? I have the NJ5 full firmware ready and waiting to be flashed via odin. Again I'm on retail verizon note 4 5.1.1 will I be able to flash NJ5 full firmware and after that will I be able to root /unlock BL??

Only if your retail has been converted to dev. Sammie has initiated security patch on all phones as of 4.3 that prevents downgrade. Locked models will shyt the bed at sboot during odin flash and bootloop.

Thanks for replying but that post is over a month old. I sold my note 4 anyway..to much hassle flashing roms. Nexus 6 is much better.

Sorry I haven't been on. I updated the post a few days ago. Use the nadia kernel. It works too. But that's the only kernels I found that work is the nadia and the one from the Omega rom. I removed the Omega link because the rom doesn't work with cell network and the nadia rom is better.

How to unbrick the phone for N9005(HK 16GB)

Hi all,
Please read the whole thread before working on it.
I know everyone is frustrating in upgrading to 4.4.2 but brick during odin process (ext4 fail) and stuck in 4.4.2 bootloader.
Here is the method to solve this problem:
Before working on it, we have to prepare the following things:
1. Odin 3.07 (Yes, 3.09 does not work)
2. HK firmware odin pack (Pit, BL (DO NOT WORK WITH IT, AP, CP, CSC): http://pan.baidu.com/s/1Bvm6g (Sorry for giving the chinese link, I hope someone to make a new link for me)
3. 4.4.2 leaked firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608178
4. 4.4.2 rom, I used sweet rom v.7 to fix it
5. 4.4.2 recovery cwm
5. Samsung driver (bullshxt)
Now lets get started:
1. Flash the 4.4.2 firmware BL by odin.
2. Flash the HK Firmware AP, CP &CSC (Do not use the HK firmware BL)
3. once it done, turn to Download mode again and flash 4.4.2 recovery cwm by odin
4. Run Recovery
5. Wipe everything
6. Flash 4.4.2 rom ( I flashed sweet rom v7 currently)
7. Boot to system and do all the setting ( The sound and the signal are not working)
8. Boot back to download mode
9. Boot the 4.4.2 leaked firmware's CP ( DO NOT WIPE AFTERWARD)
10. Prepare coffee and cookies
11. Enjoy your device!

I'm just checking why I couldn't get the Sweet Rom lockscreen, dialer, sound and camera to work. So here are my questions.
1.
In step 1, the firmware BL you used is from Leaked Poland kit kat ?
2. Did you use PIT in any steps?
3. In step 5, wipe everything means data/factory reset, cache and Dalvik?

You mean you have successfully flashed custom ROM but your ROM has problems? If so, you need to consult the ROM author because many of the Custom ROMs are still in the developing stages and still have many bugs

You can use Wanam Xposed module to fake your device status. There are other Xposed modules that also does this. At first I thought this was only a cosmetic information, but it actually tricks the system and the OTA really work. It worked for me.

If there is a new firmware, you can simply download it on pc from a repository, flash via odin and reroot.

Me too. Wanam only make you able to download the update, but cannot install.
I have to install via Odin.
Actually I use this trick only to be alerted when something new is available. I flash it using ODIN.

Hmm. Now the only firmware updates I see for my N910U is a 4.4.4 and I'm already running 4.4.4 so why does my phone say there is an update?

N910uxxu1anj5?
I am under custom recovery and i believe that the reason OTA update fail even fake the status.
Anyway to revert to stock recovery?
I don't like Kies, but sometimes I have to use it to check if there's an update, and if it finds one, it will install it for you but you have to reroot afterwards. I think this is the only method if you're rooted.
@Andrewtst, I had a Note 3 with custom recovery (CWM), and when I was one firmware behind, Kies prompted me for an update and after I updated it I got the stock recovery back. Don't know if this is the case with the Note 4, will try when there's an update for my Note 4.

@Andrewtst, I had a Note 3 with custom recovery (CWM), and when I was one firmware behind, Kies prompted me for an update and after I updated it I got the stock recovery back. Don't know if this is the case with the Note 4, will try when there's an update for my Note 4.

I believe kies is full rom. I don't want full rom. If full rom, can download from sammobile and flash via odin.

Check with 'Phone INFO ☆Samsung☆' app, under 'OS INFO' section.
I found it. And apparently I already have the latest version even though it says there's an update available.

[TEST] MM for T715Y

I've extracted the bootloader and modem form the T715 firmware and made them Odin flashable.
Still haven't tested it but It should work on the T715Y
I've also made this Rom with android Kitchen so you'll need a custom recovery to flash it.
So the steps are simple
1. Flash sboot.tar.md5 through Odin on the BL tab
I believe you don't really need the modem
2. Flash the tab2.zip through a custom recovery.
Again I haven't tested this so I don't know if it works

is it an "RQT_CLOSE" error?
that seems to be a security error, it prevents odin from flashing firmware that is not 'original' to the device.
Damn you Samsung!
I guess we'll have to wait for a bootloader meant for the T715Y

Hi, first let me thank you for giving this a go in coming up with work around to get MM with variant T15Y which seems to be totally forgotten by Samsung as its still rocking LL v5. 02
As much as I want to give this a try my concern is tripping the Knox, flashing through twrp, which from my experience with my Note 5 has lasting effect with high battery drain after upgrading to MM. As far as I know there is no way of reverting knox to 0.
On the Note 5 forum, the N920I variant is the last to be upgraded to MM. Someone has come up with work around using the variant N920G (I believe its the India version) by unpacking the rom into 4 files corresponding the BL, AP, CSC, (i can't remember the 4th one) then repacking if into tar files to flash using ODIN. I have initially upgraded my N5 using this method and worked perfectly without tripping Knox. This method only works between the variants N920I and N920G, my understanding is that because they are almost identical versions. I wondered if this this is also the same scenario with the tab s2 T715 and T15Y, if so I was wondering if you or anyone on this forum knows or better yet can give this method a try. I don't have any experience with rom development but happy to give this a go if pointed to right direction. Ihope we can keep this T15Y thread going. Cheers

The 4 files are simply the factory images downloaded via ota. Same as is in the all in one tar package downloaded from somewhere like sammobile. The problem with the Y version is that for some reason it is picky about its bootloader and will only accept a particular one.
Its probably a waste of time trying to flash any other bootloader until the official one is released.

Sad to know.., although I don't really have any issue with my tab as I mainly use it for browsing and as e reader, but as everyone here would agree its reassuring to know that your your device is currently supported by its manufacturer and the option to upgrade is available. Cheers
So, it doesn't work?

Finally here. Currently only OTA update available, but should work on TMO variant.

Weird, i was thinking that this is one of the Canadian versions avaliable for download http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/72507/N910W8VLU1DPE2_N910W8OYA1DPE2_BMC/
Also i forgot N910T it's not from north america.
This is ridiculous! T-mobile updated all of their scheduled MM updates, except Note 4s and Tab S2! Whats wrong with them!!! I'm soo mad...

This might have just came out after i posted this... but if it will work with your phone as long as the model match then no reason why you can't upgrade....
if you want to download it, just get samfirm and download it using that with model number as sm-n910w8 and either use TLS (Telus) or RWC for Region.
Set the option to decrypt automatically. You can use odin to flash.

Fwiw, it decrypts/ extracts as a .zip file, so won't flash in Odin. I assume it's a zip due to it being a downloadable update directly to the phone. Flash in TWRP or CWM?

Well...it is indeed from North America, as the USA is in North America. However, it is not the "North American" version.
Will it work in a N910T? Beats me.
Anyone else having problems with ALL other ROMs not booting up after upgrading to N910W8VLU1DPE2?

if you upgraded from 5.1.1 to 6.0 you have lost root more then likely.. you may need to wait for a new way to root 6.0..

No need to wait, the latest cf-auto-root from chainfire works fine on 6.0.

Actually the DPE2 firmware is posted as a zip, but once you unzip your download (which is over 2 GB in size, btw!) you will have a .tar.md5 file that you flash with Odin in the usual way.
As for the question of whether you actually _can_ flash the DPE2 firmware for the N910W8 on the N910T, at least one developer, Ovrdrive, who tried it on his N910T said it wouldn't boot, and I haven't seen any posts here from anyone saying they got it to work on a N910T. So - any brave soul who tried DPE2 on his N910T and made it work should post about his success here.

NO it will not work on the 910T. not through Odin anyways as the model number won't match. Sefrcoko is working on a flashable zip and deodexing but at the moment is having issues with deodexing so it may work through flashing in recovery with a MM kernel. We will have to wait and see

Not for me. I downloaded it using SamFirm (as mentioned earlier), and set to "Decrypt Automatically. It completed as a Zip file that would not unzip. Perhaps it was corrupt. ?

I've never used Samfirm. I was talking specifically about the zip files posted at sammobile (link for the N910W8 version in my previous post), which are intended to be unzipped to a .tar.md5 and flashed with Odin.

I assume that since you upgraded to MM, and T-Mobile has yet to ship MM, you have a N910W8 and you installed DPE2. It's the bootloader that came with DPE2 that is the problem. All the custom ROMs, even the MM port ones, are intended for the most recent T-Mobile bootloader, which is DOK2 Lollipop 5.1.1, or the most recent Canadian equivalent, COK3 Lollipop 5.1.1. When and if T-Mobile finally, FINALLY ships their version of MM, the custom ROMs here will probably be based on that bootloader instead. T-Mo and Samsung should be ashamed about how long MM is taking. Verizon has it. EVERY Canadian carrier has it. Looks like T-Mo is shooting for the distinction of being the very last carrier anywhere to ship MM.
Anyway, until then you need to use Odin to downgrade to COK3 (or, at least the COK3 bootloader) before any currently available custom ROMs will boot.
