Question about a particular scenario - talk, data, and MMS at same time? - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

The group that I work with spends a lot of time on conference calls together, and lots of time sending group text messages to each other. We often need to be researching something on our phone at the same time.
We have one guy on Verizon and he won't get any texts until he hangs up his iPhone.
We have another guy on Sprint that will get individual texts during a phone call, but not group texts or picture texts on his iPhone.
I'm on AT&T with an HTC M8 and I'm able to do all three at the same time. So is another AT&T iPhone and a Galaxy S6 in the group.
I think this is a network issue, but I'm not sure.
Can anyone on AT&T confirm that this phone is able to send/receive group text messages while simultaneously using voice and data?
Thanks!

Use WebEx.

I have no idea what WebEx is, nor do I want some cobbled solution. I want a phone that does what I need it to do.

I don't have the phone, but I think I saw somewhere that you can try the phone for free for 30 days and if you don't like it you can return it to ZTE.

Does anyone having problem with sending MMS? I can use data for everything else but can't send/receive MMS. Texts and calls function as normal though. I'm on GSM Ecomobile which is basically T-Mobile. Thanks.

The APN you're using most likely does not have Ecomobile's MMS server address. Get Ecomobile's APN info and create a new APN with that info.

Voice and data at the same time is very different from voice and MMS at the same time. Verizon can do voice/data, but not voice/MMS. Thanks for confirming.

I figured it out. One of my APN protocol was IPv4 instead of IPv6

Text Messaging Over Internet

I have unlimited internet for my HTC Vogue, but no free text messaging. Does anyone know of a program that lets you send text messages over the internet instead of as a text message? I know there are websites that do this, but they're kinda annoying to use. I'm on Bell too if thats important.
Buy a $5 text messaging package But seriously it’s probably going to be a bigger pain to jump through those kinds of hoops then it’s worth. What if someone text messages you? It will come in as a regular text message, it will not get routed through the Internet even if you send your original txt through some website or via some special software.
I use OctroTalk as my XMPP client (jabber/Google Talk) to get connected to Google Talk.
You can use AIM. I'm not sure if it sends SMS to out of the US though, but if they are in the US just do +1(number)
It may be possible, but I haven't seen this. SMS is huge these days, so I'm sure carriers try to prevent this from happening since they probably make a good deal of money with these text packages.
I do know however, that when I used to use the VZAccess Manager to tether my phone, I could sends SMS. I didn't have a text plan, since it was just a USB modem, turns out the text would take away from my allowed data usage of 5GB. I kept asking the rep how it was possible, but of course she had no idea.
Either way, just spend the small amount of money for the text, I'm sure you get a bunch for about $5.

SMS is really very useful. It’s like IM everywhere all the time. The new ROM from Bell Mobility for the Vogue has threaded SMS which makes it just like having an IM app.
I also have various RAID arrays and environmental monitors (temp, humidity, etc) in server rooms across the GTA that will SMS me when something goes wrong. It’s such a great way for me to add value to the services I offer my customers. I can walk in their front door because something is wrong before they even know there is a problem.
The Fish
Text messaging over the Internet is trivial. All you have to do is send an email to the carrier's EMAIL/SMS gateway. The tricky thing of course is that you need to know the carrier of the recipient and the carrier's gateway. There are lists of these things on the Internet. For example, here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway
Just a few are:
Verizon: [email protected]
Sprint: [email protected]
Tmobile: [email protected]
AT&T/Cingular: [email protected]
Using any decent email client to send the email. Limit the entire text to 160 characters. The other issue is what you put down as a reply address, your email address or your phone's address (which is just like that listed above). That would depend on whether you *really* don't want to RECEIVE replies by SMS either.
If you don't know the recipient's carrier, you can try the service TELEFLIP.COM. Send the textmsg email to:
[email protected]
and it will figure out the carrier for you. It mostly works, but isn't 100%.
Oh, and there are also analogous carrier email gateways for MMS (picture msgs). They are also listed in the link above. For example, for Sprint, send the email with the pic attached to:
[email protected]
awesome, thanks.
that's exactly what I was hoping for.
I know it's only $5, but I'm pretty cheap

Picture Messaging On The Touch

im sure that there might be a thread for this already ..... but ive been lazy and i havent asked sprint about it ... but is the touch capable of mobile to mobile picture messaging .. everytime i wanna send a pic the selctions i get are only able to send to email... i cant select to send to a contact... is it jus cuz i cant figure it out or is the touch incapable of mobile to mobile pix messaging
mms is not yet available on sprint. in the future, you can use the search button located on the top right of this page.
there is, but since you're lazy about it maybe you should try kngtut79's advice and try searching.
you can use dashwire. I am on Bell CDMA in Canada and it allows you to send a sms to your contacts as a link to the picture which is the closest I have come to so far. Hope that helps www.dashwire.com

Verizon MMS requires data usage to send or recieve pictures and video. I am specifically looking for a program to send and recieve MMS messages without using data. The program linked above, called sMMS, does it without using data.

This will not work for you then, it still uses data, and you need the Sprint Picture Messaging, which is of course not available for VZW users.
Verizon charges you for a MMS like it's a SMS. If not it's $0.20/msg, the package for, I believe, 250 SMS is $5/mo.

I`ve been trying for a couple weeks now to get MMS working on my Touch. I got a thread going but no luck in fixing it. I came across this today though http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35616. I called Alltel after I changed the setting, but the MMS network happened to be down at the time, so I don`t know if the setting work since nobody could send any at the time. The representative talked to the advance service tech and googled it as well, but neither could figure it out. I`m gonna call back tonight ( they said the network should be up by then) on a different phone to see if they can diagnose it. It kinda sounds like a problem with flashing roms. I know it worked for me before I started flashing, but it also happens even when you flash to an official alltel rom with a locked phone as in the case with my brother`s touch. When I upgraded his radio his stopped working. Perhaps its a network problem, hell I read that Sprint took it away from there users.

Straight talk group sms

About a week ago my group messages not working. I called straight talk and the person said they don't support it. I had it for a yr and now it stopped wtf???
Anyone else?
I tried hangouts and the stock SMS app still nothing the message won't download.

I use group text with straight talk all the time. However, its MMS, there is no such thing as group SMS. I would check your MMS settings, they changed the APN recently.

I have the latest settings and the mms wont dl... mind if you share your settings?
Im straight talk ATT, are you ATT or TMobile?
I have the same issue on my LG G2. I have Straight Talk AT&T. I am able to send group text messages and pictures, I can text myself pics, I can send pics and receive in individual messages, but I can't receive group text messages. Funny thing is, I am able to receive group MMS pictures. (WTF?) I have tried this on stock messaging along with Textra and it's still not a go. I also spoke to Straight Talk, but their customer service is like to cadavers about the space-continuum.
I am on one of the latest Cyanogenmod 12.1 nightlies for my device. I tried resetting APN settings, wiping davlik cache, using the latest APN settings from Straight Talk, same issue. The funny thing is I have noticed is that after resetting my APN settings and adding a new APN, after a restart, it defaults back to the TFDATA APN for Straight Talk.
I am going to try my SIM in another phone to see if it works, but I may just have to do a fresh wipe. I will need to post this in the LG G2 support forums as well.

MMS Send Receive Issues

I've noticed some issues since the update where MMS on both Send/ Receive are "Stuck"
Either the message never sends and times out, or the message shows receiving but it doesn't arrive.
Rebooting the phone seems to trigger the send/ receive
AT&T Network
I am on Verizon and haven't had any issues.
Sent from my Pixel using XDA-Developers mobile app
Verizon also and no issues. If reboot fixes it, have u tried a forced stop?

Make sure your APN is right. Usually the default APN the phone generates is good but might not be the same as what ATT recommends

Thanks. Im reading aATT Nextgenphone which is what ive always used.
I saw something about the UK needing an MMS update for similar issues.
Is the person that's sending a MMS sending from a Samsung phone? I heard it's because of the advance messaging setting in the SMS app that Samsung uses. They'll have to turn it off apparently. I haven't tested it but I started researching this issue today because I'm not getting all of my texts in a group chat. I've noticed 2 numbers has a Samsung device

Interesting. I think they were Samsung's. Although I sent one yesterday and it went through as expected.
It seems inconsistent
Exact same issue started happening to me after the December update. I"m on AT&T as well. APN is correct, tried deleting unused APN's still no good. I can't even send a photo/mms to myself unless I toggle Airplane mode or reboot the phone.
I can confirm turning off advanced messaging in a Samsung messaging app works. My girlfriend has a Samsung s7 active, I turned that **** off because we're in a group text and I never got her message. It always shows a download failed. Today, I did a group text again and now I receive her messages. Damn you Samsung ... Or is it Google , either way that's the only solution I can think of.

Concatenated SMS

Hello,
I really like my G4 Play (Amazon edition) phone with one exception. I only receive a portion of Concatenated (greater than 160 characters) SMS messages that are sent from T-mobile Iphones to my phone (also on T-mobile). I will get some, but not all. I have used my SIM in other android phones and have another T-mobile SIM in my phone and I get the same issue. From iphones from other carriers I have no problems. From Androids on T-mobile, I also have no problems. I have no problem receiving single SMS messages nor MMS messages. I have contacted T-mobile and they have been no help. I have changed some APN settings, but with no success.
I have also restored my phone to factory settings and have tried Textra also. No changes.
My question: Has anyone had any issues with concatenated SMS messages?
I am thinking about getting a replacement phone, but don't want to if this happens on a replacement phone or if there is a known fix.
Thanks.

I appreciate the response, but I'm not sure I understand your question.
I receive properly all SMS that are < 160 characters.
For SMS messages that are > 160 characters:
1) I will sometimes receive these and sometimes not receive these when they are from an iphone on the T-mobile network (I am also on the T-mobile network)
2) I will receive all of the the >160 SMS if:
a) they are on any other network regardless of the type of phone
b) they are on an android and on the T-mobile network
Did that answer your question?
160+ character text messages are sent as mms. try sending/receiving a picture and see what happens.

I have worked with T-mobile and Moto with no luck. Moto sent me a new phone (Amazon version of XT1607). I still have the same issue with not receiving long SMS messages (>160 characters) from iphones on T-mobile. These long SMS messages are concatenated SMS messages and are not MMS messages.
I'm sure that there is another Amazon G4 play person who is on Tmobile and has a Tmobile friend who can send them 5 long SMS messages to see how many get through to him/her. Can someone please try this? I have tried other SIM cards in it from my family and the same thing happens. It would be nice to see if someone else has the same issue!
I don't know what I can do but wait for the Nougat release in June. If I had know this would be an issue I wouldn't have bought the Amazon version and I could have installed another ROM.
