I had my wife's X Play sent for microphone repair last month (on warranty). It got back with a new screen and motherboard (new IMEI and all). It will now only find and connect to my 5ghz network, won't even find my home 2.4ghz WIFI networks (I have 2) or my neighbour's. But it would list other weak 2.4ghz networks that are much further away from our house.
I tried factory reset, nothing. Went into my router and changed channel number (was 13, set it to 9) and then a few other settings (maximum clients). It suddenly found the 2.4ghz network and connected. Very strange.

In some countries channel 13 is enabled, in others the allowed frequencies end at channel 12. It may be some different firmware or regional setting which leads to the problem with channel 13.
For compatibility reasons one usually tries not to set the router to channel 13. There is a high risk that you will get a device which is incompatible with channel 13 in the future. But you may want to configure your mobile that it recognizes channel 13 before setting the router back to another channel.

Wifi Slowes down D-link router

Hello every body.
I just buy a brand new D-link Wi-Fi Router and installed it in my home.
But when I try to connet to wireless thats happen:
First click to some link: Super connection no problem
Second click: Little slow connection but no problem
3th click: Very very slow connection
4th click: no connection (but Wi-Fi is still connected with full connection status), or keep slow working.
When I dissconect and connect again everything goes to start again - fast connection, slower, slower, no connection.
What happen?
I am sure I installed the Wi-Fi correctly, and this model is very very popular.
I have no chance to check with other wi-fi devices.
I read that I need to set registry to working with G router, but where in the registry exactly?
If there any third party programs to connect with wi-fi for smartphones I will try it. If there are any connection setting for router or for phone i will try it.
Thank you.
idk man
i have D-Link Router here

Wireless-N, how can you tell?

My EVO is fully nand unlocked, running the Baked Snack 9.6 ROM and I would like to know if my EVO is using Wireless-N.
My router is a Linksys WRT320 in mixed mode (g/n). It is connected to the router, but I want to know if it's connected as a G or N device. Thanks.
en verdad preguntas eso??? LOL Hey set the router to broadcast just in wireless n....
There's an app called system panel and in it there's a place that gives you network info and it tells you your link speed.
go into the wireless settings...
click on WiFi, click on the network (SSID) you are connected to. An info box will pop up. If you are connected at 65mb or above, you are on WiFi. Be sure and be close to the router when you do this.

- Mode - There are Various Mode to Choose from Example - 11b Only , 11g only , 11n only , 11bg Mixed , 11bgn Mixed
But you Choose 11n Only as i found it it works the best with XSP somehow i dont know why !!

802.11n can use the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
The frequency of 5 GHz band is less crowded than the 2.4 GHz band, since less amount of equipment working on the 5 GHz band.
In addition, you can count on the best performance within the network.
But 5 GHz band has one drawback, it does not support the signal over long distances.
Hmm my rounter doesnt have the Mhz setting
Never use any channel beside 1, 6, 11. You can do it only if you are know what you are doing.
Tech info: channel 1 doesnt intefere with channel 6, channel 6 doesnt interfere with channel 11. Any other channel overlap part of 1, 6 or 11 channels and your Wi-Fi going to be bad.
Obviosly 802.11n selection will make best speed/connection because SP has 802.11n chip. But other devices in house probably dont have that.
Tech info: I have at home:
3 mobile phones, 1 of them 802.11g, others 802.11n
1 PC, 802.11n
4 laptops, 3 of them 802.11g, others 802.11n
1 tablet, 802.11n
So probably you should use 802.11g only mode.
5GHz is the same as with 802.11n. Most of devices cant use it.
Then you use 40MHz channel - you are bastard. You overlap channels around in 2.4GHz. Do it freely in 5GHz, dont do it in 2.4GHz

Also I have no issues with SP, but Z one sometimes disconnecting all over.
I think it caused by - sleep policy (I enforce that to never disconnect just because wifi wakelocks) and "Avoid poor connections" (I never enable that, you can switch by yourself).

Thanks a lot man.. last 2 months i was really worried about my Sp WiFi.. now its first time i'm seeing its WiFi range full even in my bathroom too :laugh::good:
add info - channel
Hi guys,
why channel 2?? I recomend using any software, wich can scan all wireless network around you and after finished, choose the least used channel.
Due to use neighbors routers, who use the same or similar channels leads the interference..
This results in a bad signal, and a lower connection speed. Try software beloow to scan yout networks.

[Q] 802.11AC and 5GHz Issue

I've researched for any past issues on this topic but couldn't find anything similar.
I live in London and use Asus AC68U, I have connected my Note 4 (N910C) and Tab S fine on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, but never checked whether this is connected on N or AC. The Channel setting on the router is left on Auto, and I've labaled the 5GHz SSID to have a "5G" at the end (eg. 2.4GHz SSID: "My WiFi" ; 5GHz SSID: "My WiFi 5G")
Then flew to Indonesia bringing along the AC68U, reset and reconfigured the Router to be used there, I have also configured an N66U as an Access Point (not repeater). Now my Note 4 cant' even see 5GHz anymore, even though wireless configuration is exactly the same as in London (except the WiFi SSID and password). I then found out a way to know which 802.11 speed my phone is connected to (by doing the #*0011# thing), and turned out it's on 802.11N 2.4Ghz.
I then went to the N66U (out of Radio range of the AC68U) and I still cannot see the 5GHz SSID. So I took out my Tab S 8.4, switched WiFi on, lo behold, 5Ghz is visible and able to connect to both router seamlessly. Checking the connection type, the Tab S is on 802.11AC Ch. 36 Frequency 5180Mhz, WiFi Power Save Mode On, link speed 866Mbps, to the AC68U.
My Dad has a Galaxy S5, it also cannot see the 5GHz SSID, but is at least connected to the 2.4GHz 802.11AC.
I have changed channels manually on the router but still can't see 5GHz from the Note 4, also switched OFF the WiFi Power Save Mode.
So the question is.... does my Note 4 N910C even have AC? And what is going on with my 5GHz band? Has anyone seen this problem before or point me to a thread you've been to?
I've got the n910c and connects in ac on 5ghz fine. I have a netgear r7000 running ddwrt. Has it ever worked for you ?

I also have the 910F and a Netgear R6300 with DD-WRT.
It took some configuring. But i expect this has something to do with the preset ups for using your router in Indonesia.
itll probably;y work when you get back to wherever you live.
Thanks for the replies.

5Ghz has worked for me in London using the same Asus router that I used in London, but I'm not sure if my Note 4 ever connected as AC.

Well, I brought the AC68U I used in London to Indonesia, the phone was connected on 5GHz on this router when it was in London, but somehow it can't even see the 5GHz SSID now in Indonesia.
I think I need to reset the modem and WiFi module somehow, been searching the web on how to do that but haven't found it yet.
Other devices that are currently able to connect to 5GHz and/or AC:
Galaxy Tab S: Can connect to 2.4GHz + 5GHz on AC
Galaxy S5: Can connect to 2.4GHz AC (Cannot see 5GHz AC)
Laptops: Can connect to 2.4GHz + 5GHZ N
Added Info: Tried WiFi Analyzer, Note 4 still cannot see 5GHz signal while the Tab S can.
Did you put in a local SIM? The phones may be respecting local regulations regarding frequency usage that the other devices don't, as they don't have a SIM giving them locale. I'd be curious what would happen if you put in your London SIM.

Yeah I'm using local SIM, but when I arrived still with my Voda UK SIM in the phone, the existing N66U Router (before I turned it into Access Point) was transmitting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, my Note 4 couldn't see it. I thought I had switched off 5G SSID but when I checked, it was ON. Very sure something is up with this Note 4.
I removed the SIM card and inserted it to my LTE Tab S, switched it on, switched WiFi on, connected to 5G just fine.
I'm gonna try re-flashing the same stock ROM. This phone and the Tab are all Non-Rooted btw.
Solution: Don't set the frequency to "Auto". Manually choose the frequency for 5 Ghz, preferably to something low such as channel 36. This worked for me. I haven't tried with any other frequency though. Someone mentioned online that it might be due to Android phones not supporting DFS frequencies.
Good luck.

I just installed dd-wrt on my netgear r7000 and my n910h stopped seeing the 5Ghz band after that.
With r7000 stock firmware everything is fine.
Could you please tell me what's your dd-wrt settings for the 5Ghz band?

[Solved] Wifi: Connected, no internet

Hello,
Since two days my XT1562 (single SIM, EU retail, Marshmallow, unlocked bootloader, rooted) has a problem with the internet connection via wifi.
It is connecting to the router. I can see it listed in the router's web interface, with MAC-address and IP-address. But on the phone itself the wifi status is "Connected, no internet". In the settings the IP-address shows "Not available".
This happens only with the wifi network at home. I tried some other networks (work, neighbours), and they connect normally.
I did not change settings on the phone or on the router. We have two other devices at home (one Android, one iOS), and both have no problems.
So the phone's wifi seems to function normally, the router's wifi seems to function normally. But for some reason the combination stopped working. I tried forgetting the network, and on connecting re-entering the password. But still "Connected, no internet".
What options do I have for diagnosing or solving the problem?
Edit: setting the IP-address on the phone to static instead of DHCP does not solve the problem. Forgetting the network and reset router to factory defaults does not solve the problem.

Solved!
Sorry for eng.
In the modem/router (UBEE EVW3210) the country is set to EU. I can not change that.
Today I visited my parents. They have a UBEE EVW3200 modem, from the same provider. Wifi functioned without any problem.
Returned back home: Connected, no internet.
Ubee issue?
Same issue here with Ubee EWV3210 from Ziggo. All Android 5.x devices stopped connecting to internet. Provider says it's not their fault since iphone and android 4.x have no issues. Replaced modem with Cisco modem and now everything is working again. Problem in in android 5.x in combination with Ubee modem and probably it's Ziggo firmware.

They dont want to help. I still had an old cisco modem and swapped it today. It fixed the issue. Ziggo doesnt swap modem unless they send a service guy.
Try playing around with the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, both on phone and router.

Problem was caused by provider (firmware update?), and was solved half an hour ago.
