So after I rooted my phone, everything is ok with the expect bugs that have already been reported by others. One new bug is that my phone is not being recognized by my computer, and is not showing the the drop down notification bar on my phone to tap for more options. Anybody else having this problem or know a fix? Thanks

You need to enable developer options by tapping the build number under about device in settings about 10 times. Then under developer options scroll down to USB configuration and pick whatever you want the phone to do when plugged in.

Problems after root SM-G935P
I was not sure where to post this.
I rooted my S7 edge. Everything went fine and I was able to use the phone for about a week. Then I got an error about Google play. I reset the phone and it got locked on the loading screen. I tried to connect to my computer but it would not recognize the phone. I tried another computer and a few different cables and I still could not get the phone to show up. I figured the only option was the factory reset which I did and the phone booted up fine. I am still not able to connect with the S7 edge. I have a couple other Samsung phones and I can connect with those. I'll list everything I've tried below.
different computer
at least 10 different cables ( I even purchased new ones)
re downloaded the drivers x2
usb debugging is unlocked
it is set to mtp. I also tried the other options with no luck.
As a side note, I thought you do not lose root on a factory reset but I tried a root checker and it said I was not rooted. just trying to add all I know to help figure it out.
I'd really like to just get root back. Thanks for any help or advice.

I've tried two different cords and two different computers. One of them being a mac and the other being a PC

I seen somewhere that you need samsung drivers but I don't have a link for you. Personally I did the tedious task of sticking my sd in an usb adapter but I switched to wireless transfer after a week of that. Android phone drivers in general didn't load for me on Win7 64bit.

You got the Drivers installed right? soft reset your phone ? If that does not work, back up hard reset and check again. If still not working I say return it..

I'm running windows 7 Ultimate and it works just fine, but whenever I use a different computer or a Mac I get the same problem. I tried almost everthing.
Are you running JI5/JI6 ? I have the same problem with these builds. I remember someone else had the same problem as well, could be a bug. What happens when you go into USB settings of phone and select/deselect mass storage option?
This is going to sound really really really weird but I fixed it somehow
I put the disable lagfix into the voodoo folder and rebooted my phone and plugged it into my brothers ps3 and then suddendly I could mount my phone to my computer again.
Even stranger I deleted the disable lagfix file and rebooted my phone and let it do its thing and now my USB is completely working again.
Anyone have any ideas about this? I've done the disable thing before when I was trying to fix it but never plugged it into the ps3

OK I had something weird happen to my gf's phone yesterday. I don't know if this is Gingerblur related, but that's what's on it so I'm putting it here.
AT&T Atrix w/ Gingerblur 4.0 (Just haven't got around to going to 4.5)
So I put Gingerblur on it 2-3 months ago and it's been working great for her. So yesterday I was with her and we were going to install this market app (I can't remember what it was), but she hit Install on the market app, it changed to the OK button, but when she clicked OK, the button just flashed and just sat there and did nothing. i found that odd. So I had her see if she could sideload an app (not the same one) -so I downloaded it to the phone and clicked it to install it. I accepted it and it just said "Installing...." forever. So I told her OK the phone got out of whack or something let's just reboot it.
So we reboot it, and she complains that a lot of her apps show the default android icon for them (instead of their respective icon pics) and she can't run them. From what we noticed, these were all the apps that were moved with app2sd. Also, nothing will install from the market - you can get there, but you get the same symptoms as above. You can click "Install" on the app but when you click "OK" it doesn't do anything.
Under Settings/Manage Applications it shows all her apps installed so the phone still thinks all the apps are there. So I tell her to pick an app that she doesn't really care about and Uninstall it. She said that works, but trying to install it through the Market fails.
So she's freaking out. I tell her to let me at least back up what I can off the phone. So I try plugging the phone into my computer with the USB. I can't get the phone to be seen at all by the computer. I put the USB into Mass Storage mode/Nothing/etc, and even turn off/on USB Debugging - I just can't get this thing to be seen. So now I'm starting to worry.
We have an external SD card in the phone so I was able to start copying what I could under Setting/Files over to the SDcard.
Now all I'm thinking about is getting this phone working again so I'm starting to read how to recover the phone back to stock using this thread:

So I'm able to get it into the recovery state. So as I'm downloading the SBF, I notice it says to remove the SIM card too. So I shut it down, and remove the SIM. I boot up the phone regularly and I notice everything is working now as it should (minus the phone since the SIM is out), but all apps are there and working correctly and the market works as it should.
So immediately I nab Titanium Backup from the market and start backing things up. I tell her to go through the list and start backing up what she thought was important. So I'm thinking this thing fixed itself, but when I put the SIM card back in, we're back to the broken state again.
So.. does anyone know what's going on here? It seems like the phone doesn't like her SIM card anymore, but she can still make calls with it aside from the rest of the phone issues with it in.
If we need to take this back to stock, I will - especially now that I was able to back things up with TB.
Apologies if this is the wrong forum, just updated my Moto X play to marshmellow 6.0.1. When I plug the phone into my pc, I can see my phone as XT1562 but when I click on it, its empty. I have looked around on the internet and I have tried the solution whereby you go into apps, , click on the 3 dots (overflow apps) and locate external storage and clear data and cashe, then media storage and do the same again. Reboot your phone, then the files then that is supposed to fix the issue, it doesnt work for me, my phone is blank. Ive got an 32gb micro sd card in it too. Nothing shows up on my pc. How can I fix it? I had no problems on 5.1..1, its just since this update. Noticed one or two other issues like no email app, this I can live with. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys

I'm assuming your phone's Android version is the same (meaning, almost stock) as the X2. If so, try the following: after plugging your phone to your PC, unlock your phone and tap on the notification that says "Charging". It should give you the option to change to MTP or PTP.
So, i just bought from a friend a Moto G4 Plus almost brand new, everything working great.
But this morning i realized my notifications dont show, i cant pull down quick settings, home button and recent screens button are non responsive and i cant see the lock screen anymore; I try to unlock my phone with the fingerprint sensor but it unlocks with any fingerprint or even just by pressing the on button.
With all these problems, I went online to search for possible explanations for all of this. I tried to factory reset it but the button is a little faint and it wont let me. I tried to hard reset it but it also wont let me do that. I uninstalled all the apps i had to see if any app had done this but everything still wouldnt work. Also tried deleting all other information but still, home button and all other things dont work and still cant factory reset.
Also tried factory resetting it with two different programs conectting it to my computer but neither program recognized my phone even though its battery was over 80%.
I am getting really frustrated. I mean, everything else works fine, but all these things should work and everything and its really frustrating trying to use the phone having to go back on everything to go to the home page.
Anybody have any suggestions or have had the same problem? Tomorrow im gonna take it to a guy i know who fixes phones but would really love to know if i can solve it myself.

Just did, and int fixed everything, home buttons working, quick settings are coming down and all the other things.
But, now my network connections are unavailable. My mac address is 02:00:00:00:00:00, my ip address shows as unavailable and my phone also wont read my sim.
I already flashed it again and also tried restoring it to factory setting because now it lets me do it but nothing changes. I cant connect to anything on Wi-Fi, it just stays on the screen of Wi-Fi turning on

I have lost all hope that Google will do anything or I will find a fix by myself with no experience in coding or how android devices work. I've tried my absolute hardest to save my phones photos with no progress. With quarantine happening I've spent a good amount of time looking in to this, here is everything I know.
A simple reboot very rarely fixes it for some people
Rebooting multiple times very rarely fixes it, worked for some people. I've rebooted 100+ times and it didn't
Rebooting to safe mode does nothing, worked in this persons case
You can bypass the lockscreen to another looping screen, shown here, by either brute forcing it, shown in video here. Or by hitting enter and the power button simultaneously when putting in the correct pin, something I found out myself by messing around. From here you can enable USB-Debugging and other settings. Unfortunately, any setting that requires a pin crashes the settings app so you cannot remove the pin from there. In the Google support thread he mentions you can create a new user and control your phone from there but I haven't been able to do it myself
The phone is shown as encrypted in the settings
Other people who were experiencing this issue found a way to replicate it but still no progress from Google has been made

Phones storage cannot be accessed in Ubuntu, although it's detected and shown
The confirm prompt that is supposed to show when doing the ADB backup command doesn't show up
ADB pull cannot access the phones files
When on the Pixel is starting screen it's detected as unlocked when using this ADB command
3rd party data recovery softwares successfully install the APK but fail to launch, you can grant app permissions via settings on the phone
Trying to start ANY application with adb commands shows this error message
Uninstalling every app that can be uninstalled from settings does nothing
Disabling/enabling EVERY setting in the settings app did nothing
This bug dates back to FIVE YEARS AGO (Edit: make that seven!)
Deleting locksettings.db or gesture.key on a rooted device with custom recovery or on ADB works, source. REQUIRES AN ALREADY ROOTED DEVICE. Also shown to work here (scroll all the way to the bottom)

EDIT: I am now severely ****ed. Sideloaded android 11, didn't fix it. Went to see developper options and fat fingered disable developper options and to re-enable you need your pin which crashes the settings app. Since it wasn't fixed in android 11, september 5 security update AND september 1st google play update I am 100% certain that there will be no fix put out. Resetting later today and never buying a Google phone.
Without flashing a fresh OS I'm not sure if anything can be done. But a clean flash will wipe everything. Google won't help because they don't care.

change your usb default options to "transfer files" in developer options
if you're wanting to connect to adb the way I have been doing it is by setting up adb to connect through wifi. this is the procedure I used to delete digital wellbeing.(improves system performance and battery) Windows 10.

I was able to connect to adb via USB but tried connecting through wifi which worked but I dont see why it was needed, deleting digital wellbeing unfortunately didnt do anything. Thanks for replying though

what is your issue you're having? you said you weren't able to download your files etc?
what was the problem in the 1st place?
