Android N for moto x pure? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wondering if we will be getting official or rom with Android N. Really hoping for true pure on Android n

Due to delay of 6.0.1, it looks android N is really under works for Moto X Style.

We surely will get Official Android N update once new nexus is launched just like we got marshmallow. However it is possible that we may get N earlier if some developer creates custom ROM.

This is up to Lenovo/Motorola. While it would be nice, I haven't seen anything promising we will get it.

This is what I am hoping is going on. Much rather have N than 6.0.1. Also, as new as the Moto X Pure is, I am not too worried about us getting it or not, mostly just a matter of when...
Lenovo/Moto has been slow with patches, but they were quick with MM.

Android L ?

Well yes antoher android l topic , so i just chatted with motorola :
But why all these same topic on Android L man?
Then, if moto e, its presentation, it was confirmed that it will have "at least 1 update after 443/444" how will can moto g not have the L version? It's a bit nonsense i think.
Stop those moronic threads,of course Moto G will get L.

Moto X Pro = Moto apps on Nexus 6?

http://www.droid-life.com/2015/01/0...he-moto-x-pro-like-the-nexus-6-but-for-china/
So now this is coming, how long till we get a ROM ripped and edited to work on the Nexus 6?
I didn't even think about that. Oh man this could be awesome. The moto tweaks are minor but so useful. I already miss some of them from my moto x 2013. I'm already drooling thinking about customized launch phrase. *crosses fingers*
I'm on the side of the Note 4 right now because of a lot of a reasons, but this could pull me back
Well.... there might be some stuff keeping that from happening.... First, devs would have to be able to get their hands on the Moto Assist sources. I'm not sure if Motorola has that available. Sure, the BASE stuff will have to be released...like the core and kernel sources. But the proprietary stuff might be locked down. So having a native Nexus 6 ROM that has the Moto stuff ported might be either impossible or a legal minefield.
Now, it could be feasible for someone to port the ROM over... but again... we might be swimming in some questionable legal waters there as well.
Or just sell they nexus 6 and try to snag a moto x pro.
In theory if the phone has 100% identical couldn't we just flash a ROM? Like the GSM M8 you could flash GPE Roms and sense Roms. If you were originally a GPE you would have to SOFF to do a full conversion due to differences in partition. Same if you had a sense m8 and wanted to get full conversion with OTA updates.
But let's say you have a carrier bought m8 and just wanted to flash a GPE all you would have to do is HTC Dev_unlock flash recovery and flash GPE ROM
What I'm most excited about with this release, is that we might be able to get back covers from moto maker just like the moto x, only without the nexus logo but wtf.. Bring on those covers and I'm set.!!
There's gonna be nothing more that I'd want from this phone if that happens.

My guess is that it'll be identical to the international version of the nexus 6 and not the US version that has CDMA radios and different LTE bands. Of course I'm not experienced enough to know if that will make a difference when building roms. I imagine it would. Time will tell when it finally releases.

Never had a moto x, what tweaks are missing?
Never had one either but I think they're referring to the motor voice (advanced more comprehensive version of "Ok google", moto display, and a few other features

One I miss right off the bat is Bluetooth profiles. It would remember the volume of each Bluetooth device I had paired. With the nexus 6, I have to adjust between each device when switching.
Wrist twist for fast access to camera
Automatic switch up speakerphone when making a call via voice command that way up don't have to click speakerphone button.
on the new moto x you can customize the launch phrase so you don't have to say okay Google.
You could voice command "where is my phone" and it would start ringing so you can locate it.
Little things but they were nice.
Damn some of those actually sound useful.

I posted about this yesterday in the Q&A section. We should have the two OPs merged to avoid clutter.

I also liked Moto Assist which would independently detect activities like driving or meetings and would assume profiles with different abilities. Like for driving it would read text messages alloud and would automatically offer the opportunity to voice reply.

Why the development of ROM,KERNEL and other third party support is so slow

I am a moto g(2013) user and I found out that the development of moto g4/g4 plus, compare to the previous models,is extremely slow or even no significant progree at all.I wonder if it is the unpopularity of this device,or the difficulty in developing this devices from scratch. This bother me so much that I consider buying the moto g 2015 rather than this
Me too.. All moto g series phone are booting 7.0 but we are still way behind..
in my experience all of the moto series of devices have slower development. the G4 isn't a very popular phone for most devs, its a budget device. personally stock, rooted, elementalx and substratum are perfect for me right now. we should have android 7.0 by the holidays.
Why don't you develop some stuff instead? That way, we will have more things to flash.

are substratum themes fully compatible? can i fully theme notifcation bar etc using substratum?
You want faster development? Buy an extra G4Plus and send it as a gift to a developer. I know a couple that took the task of developing CM13 for various phones because they got the devices free.

Moto G4 Android 7.0 and OpenGApps

Hey guys,
Does anyone know what OpenGApps variant gets closest to the ones that the stock Moto G4 comes with?
I updated my G4 from android 6 to 7 and even though it rocks solid, I'm going to change to LinageOS due to low RAM (every app seems to start over each time I open it). I'm trying to get as closest I can get to the stock experience.
Even though Moto makes some of the best android modifications, they are rather slow in updating and fixing stuff
Thank you in advance!

Any Issues with Motorola X Play?

Hello, going to be exchanging my Note 4 (910s) for a Moto X play- due to the lack of AOSP roms for 910s. I primarily love stock android and just want to be able to install future releases of android and such.. Are there any issues with the Moto XPlay? So far I've read that it has a heating issue..
LineageOS 14.1 is working well (no heating issue). But Oreo is not ready, and it's not sure it will be actively developed for the Moto X Play.
Except if you have a really good price, I don't see why you would replace your Note 4 (2015) for X Play (2015).
If you really wanna have latest AOSP, you must find a more recent phone. I guess OnePlus or LG are quite popular for that.
