Double tap to wake feature !! - Mate 8 General

Disappointed !
huawei should pay attention to this feature.
i don't have to rise up the mobile each minute if its on table to use back fingerprint sensor access .
also I i don't have to root the phone to enable this feature .

isnt it enabled on the newer B3xx firmwares?

Nooooo

Forget about DT2W for Mate 8 at the current state of Firmware. I have root and enabled that feature. It's really disappointing, cause it's not working nice. And (what is more annoying) sometimes, you cannot wake up the phone. You have to press the power button a lot, to wake it up. This only happens when DT2W is active!

That's why we need huawei to listen to us it's really needed as I'm X mate s user! It's very useful

Should Huawei Skip Lollipop alltogether and focus instead on Marshmallow ?

So what do you think ?
I think they should not waste any more time in Lollipop.
Its september 1 , they did not release as they told us.We are becoming mate 2 users they are waiting 2 yrs for update.I think mate 7 will stay on kitkat, if we get 5.1.1 that will be last update for sure just my opinion

Right now im on closed beta 5.1.1 B320 ( its for chinese Mate 7 only), its good and stable enough for daily use, i think Huawei will release the final build soon, be patient

Soon??? What about soon?? 1 year...2 year...3 year???? Hihihihihi
B-143 is working v.stable for me.
KitKat to lollipop is a big jump, but tbh I don't really see big hype or changes at the back end to really have much end user impact and tbh sometimes I wonder with all the OEM mutations, how much of optimisations really carry over.
1.IMO the big MM feature is more optimised deep sleep, frankly alot of that is already built into the current build or you could always use greenify.
2. Current build already reports mAH consumption, another feature being cooked in MM.
3. Material skin: download lollipop theme, use nova launcher, use ex dialer, Google keyboard, messenger and you're not that far away.
Hopefully Huawei nexus has the same amazing battery life and hopefully we could steal the fingerprint scanner drivers and hope they work on the one we got. It works amazing right now.

Bingo. I was thinking exactly the same thing this morning on the way to work. We'll have to see how close the Nexus comes to our beloved decives, but I'd love to see a port of the Nexus firmware for the Mate 7.

ever since I did install I have shut up about lollipop I simply do not care any more, Apex gives the speed I did want from day 1.
No more frustrating slow animations that looks like crap..apps open faster with apex for sure...
It felt like an cpu/gpu upgrade for sure..
what a silly question, if they're not bothering with pushing out lollipop, what makes you think they'll even consider pushing out M to the mate7?
Because they did that with mate 2. They skiped kitkat for lolipop
Why would they skip something they are currently (and have already currently) spent money and work hours on aka. Lollipop for another Android version that isn't even officially released? On top of that, the Ascend mate 7 will soon be replaced for a newer Huawei phone.

Selling My Mate 8

Hey all, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm selling my Mate 8. I recently purchased a Nexus 6P which I love so the Mate 8 must go. I will still try and make the Twisted Mate 8 and Stock roms for the Mate 8 but I'll just need a tester or two. I listed my phone on Swappa just now and hopefully it will find a good home.

I bought a Nexus 6P. We will never see any custom roms other than what's based on stock on the Mate 8. Plus the Nexus 6P has a better camera, stereo speakers and stock android which there are a ton of roms for. I love the Mate 8 but I'm selling it and looking to buy something like the P9 Max if it ever is released or something over 6 inches.

I can totally understand you.
Love the Mate 8 too, but hate the lack of custom ROMS.
Need the dual SIM for work, otherwise I would have decided on a Nexus 6p.
Don't forget the notification issues on mate 8. I have tried every ROM for AL10 and the all have this bug. I use the phone for work and need the app: root call sms manager to work with timer scheduler. It opens for call on my work sim card when at work, and disables then when work ends. But it is not working and always delayed because of this bug. My xperia Z5 dual works perfect with this app, but only have the half battery life of mate 8. And no!!
Is does not help to disable doze, use greenify or make the app a system app. It's really sad...

Yes seriously looking into switching to either 6p or S7 edge.
On the other hand still hoping that all these issues with the Mate 8 will be solved at some point.

I don't have the notification issues after enabling wifi and mobile data during sleep but yeah the notification issues shouldn't have even been there to begin with. I have mine on Swappa but the low ball deals people are offering me are ridiculous.
I have notification problems and nothing has worked, i wasted hours trying to get them to work.. I am going to wait till the galaxy note 6 to come out and give this phone to my parents because everyone one is low balling me on craigslist...
Notification are important to me because this is my work phone, I have to carry my note 4 when I'm on call, pretty annoying to always have two phones..
Well guys, the phone has been sold. I'll still be around helping out and doing the smaller stuff.

Enable wi-fi and data did decrease the delay, but it did not fix it. On my Z5 dual notification comes instantly as they should. I use my mate 8 only for gaming now until Huawei wake up.

I am using kingvip slim Rom and doesn't have notification issue with gmail. For whatsapp i put the apk in the system folder and it starts working. The mate 8 is the best phone i had (i owned a lot of them). Excellent battery life ( who need a phone with a dead battery at 4-5 PM), microsd card support are a must for me. I had before an LG g4 and was plagued with bad battery life and relative overheating so can't imagine an sd810 based device even if it is a nexus phone.

The 6P uses a revision 2 Snapdragon 810 chip and doesn't overheat. Mine stays as cool as my Mate 8 did. The Mate 8 is probably the best piece of hardware I've ever owned but one of the worst in software other than the early days of Samsung's TouchWiz. If the 6P had a 6 inch screen and slightly larger battery (it has a 3450mah battery) it would be the perfect phone. I still have my Mediapad X2 with a 5,000 mah battery. Talk about long lasting!
So, what noti issue are you guys talking? ? Did i miss something on my mate?

Oh yeah for sure ! Go to settings of the Walkman music app and there are a lot of equalizer settings. How I have it set is ALOT more bass and super clear
I had viper4android + dolbyatmos ..viper is mehhh it's like throwing a filter over a picture but instead on a song....it does work but it doesn't always sound good. Atmos sounds good but this Walkman port sounds the best IMO ! The bass sounds nice and true ..but on viper when the bass hits the treble I guess you would call it would drown down.
kool, thx a lot for the feedback, much appreciated

Switching to a P9 lite

Hi guys,
I'm hoping to switch to a p9 lite. So need ideas from all of you; the best people i can count on who has the experience with P9 lite.
Are there any issues with the phone or is my decision good? Please help.
Thanks in advance
hardware is good...i like it, no problems here... software sucks... with emui 5.0 it will be better i hope
Your decision good! If you dont like EMUI4 replace standard launcher with nova.
But mind that P9l not has gyroscope as required.

saying that your should use Nova if you don't like emui is like saying to wear makeup to hide that you are stupid...i don't like emui because of a lot of reasons...i came from a Nexus so for me emui is killing the Android... it's not just about the looks... it has a task killer for God's sake... Android with task killer in a 2gb device... plain stupid
Your right. Nova is spoilage. But even so smart spoilage.
yeah.
. nevertheless Nova is great

For me,it works fine.
Sure, due to the fact that it has 2GB of ram, some apps which would possibly stay in the background on the 3GB of ram will be killed on 2GB. Other than that,it is working fine,I don't even multitask that much, and the phone is snappy even while the 2 cores of the first cluster are disabled(DIY 6-core setup,it saves up the battery life a bit)

P9 Lite, the J7 is trash at screen resolution and CPU performance. And it probably won't have custom ROMs in the future, while the P9 Lite already has "usable"-ish CM13.
And even the stock ROM is snappy.

My first observations after upgrade:
- system is smooth and fast, but the fact is that it was such before upgrade as well;
- smart battery saving leave you less options as before; you can't use it with screen off time adjustment any more; my impression is that with no battery saving you achieve less uptime than before and with smart battery the same as before but with more restrictions;
- overall color specter moved toward blue and a lot of white; light color letters on white background are sometimes difficult to read;
- safetynet (indicator of secure applications like Android Pay and Pokemon) fails wit the last upgrade; it passed with MM and first N upgrade 336;
- still no trace of wifi calling.
Camera is subject to more deep and demanding analyze which may follow latter.
Overall I'll be glad to get safetynet back and wifi calling sometimes soon.

It says something like:
This update optimizes the system and stability and makes the phone run more smooth. It repairs Taobao app text dialog box on order to prevent blocking input method. It also repairs the problem that call recording can’t add the specific contact. Further, the problems that outgoing call can’t be placed and phone can’t be connected to WIFI are fixed as well. Removed error that Talkback can’t be used. Fixed HuaweiShare autolaunch after WIFI download rate is reduced. Fixed issues with 123006?? and banking (shopping??) apps like Taobao. Power consumption is optimized in order to extend battery life. Screen brightness parameters optimization.
The translate is result of mutual efforts of me and GoogleTranslate and it is far from perfect.
My first impressions after update:
The system is stable and ready for the transition from beta to the production version. It is responsive, smooth and fast. No substantial deficiencies could be detected. There are still some glitches that should be improved though:
1. In order to make the outlook white as a snow (combined with sea blue) the producer made some application text hard to read (white on the bright)
2. Using the power saving mode gives you insane 6 hours of SOT. But the mode fixes screen on when passive to 30 secs time and it can't be adjusted. What could be really annoying in some situations. I would have easily sacrificed 1 hour of SOT if I had option to turn off the screen manually.
3. SafetyNet (connected with payment and other safety apps) fails after every upgrade. Thankfully so far I had it back in a few days and I hope that it will happen this time too. I think that the failure is connected to beta status of the upgrade: Google might consider upgrade as a test version of the system (safe applications don't work on the rooted phone, custom recovery, unlocked bootloader or test versions of the system). I don't understand the mechanism on which the functionality suddenly returns: is it by Huawei's intervention, Google app upgrade or simply recognizing the upgrade as real, not test version.
Finally, there is an improved custom ROM for AL10 and AL00 (HRT-Kangvip) if someone with rooted phone wanna try: http://club.huawei.com/thread-11821416-1-1.html (use GoogleTranslate).

I am in China, I already got 3 updates since I bought it (3 weeks ago).
That's why I can't really compare with marshmallow as I didn't use it much.
I just found out they still didn't fix the bug when we use the fingerprint to slide photos in the gallery. It works but it's not as smooth as before.
