Wifi tether through Wifi Tether Router - Moto G4 Questions & Answers

Anyone know a working tether app? I used to use wifi tether router before moving to this phone but i tried it and it seems to enable ok but the SSID never shows up on the PC. Currently stuck using the built in android tethering and while it works i worry that i will be throttled because tmobile only gives 2gb of tethering before its throttled.

[Q] [Need Help]

Hi, I'm having a problem with my wifi tether recently after upgrading to TyphooN RC4 v2.9.4 where before this I'm using v2.1, my wifi tether works great using Wireless Tether apps. But now, I can seem to connect to my HD2 when using either wireless tether apps or portable wi-fi hotspot.
I did notice that on v2.1, when I'm turning on wireless tether apps, there's no blue color wifi hotspot appear on the notification bar except for green colored wireless tether apps but on 2.9.4, the wifi hotspot always appears on the notification bar everytime I'm turning on the apps and when I'm trying to connect, it just stop at obtaining IP address.
Different story when I'm upgrade to v3.0.1, my wifi hotspot is working but wireless tether still no avail and with errors.
I really hope that someone could assist on what to do as I want to run my wifi tethering using wireless tethering application as the application help me to customize the channel and even ip range for my wifi tether.
Thanks

Tethering Tablet to Phone

My phone is rooted, Atrix 4G, and I have tried using barnacle tether and wifi tether and I cannot connect to my TF.
How do I do this?
I understand it uses an AD-Hoc connection the tablet can use so maybe bluetooth or a hack?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093778
The TF will need to be rooted for this method.
I have no problem with wifi tether, its a true infrastructure network. Barnacle uses an ad-hoc network and the TF will not connect to that without the work above.
What kind of problem did you have with wifi tether?
I can easily connect to my rooted Nexus One running CM7. I just run the built in tethering and connect.
What ROM are you running? Try the built in tethering if you have it. I didn't have any luck running the market tethering apps.
I have a rooted Droid and am able to wireless tether via Bluetooth with no problem. I also understand that I can't wireless tether via wifi because the TF won't except ad hoc wifi, which is what Droid creates.
What I would like to know is if I can wire tether. I bought a 2.0 USB to micro USB with a 2.0 female to female adapter and using a wired tether app on my Droid. The TF doesn't see anything, doesn't even recognize it's connected to a USB.
Any thoughts?
I just set my HTC Desire to be a wireless hotspot and my TF connects to that just fine !?

I believe this is because your phone creates an infrastructure wifi whereas the Droid is only capable of creating an ad hoc Wifi. That's why I would like to know if wired tether is possible since it would be much faster than the Bluetooth tether.
Wifi Tether 3.0-pre 14 **Experimental**

This was my only solution. I'm using my rooted Cyanogen Nexus S 4g with my unrooted TF
Wondering if BT Tether will work?
I have an original Droid as well, rooted, using wifi tether. It creates an ad-hoc wifi connection. To enable the TF to connect to ad-hoc you have to follow the instructions in the thread I linked to above, this will allow the TF to connect to an ad-hoc wifi connection. The TF will need to be rooted to accomplish this.
If your TF is not rooted, you will have to install Wifi Tether 3.0 pre-14 (http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list) on your rooted phone and enable Bluetooth tether. Then go into your Bluetooth settings on the TF and Pair to your phone.

Wifi Tether

Is it possible, to be connected to a WiFi with your android device, and share it yourself while being connected to it? Because i can only share ADHOC over my laptop, which i can only connect to with my rooted android, and my new android phone cant connect to it... help please.

What exactly are you trying to do? Using something like "Wifi teather for root users" you should be able to set up your phone as a wifi router. Clients (your PC) would get internet access via wifi and your phones cell network connection.

Yep, so tethering will share your mobile internet connection (GPRS, 3G, ...) with other WiFi-capable devices like your notebook. And when tethering is on, you can't connect with your mobile phone to a WiFi network because the WiFi chip can only operate in "client" or tethering mode (as long as I know).
Anyone else think that wifi tether uses way for data than it should?

USB Tethering to router

Hi,
I got the Asus N56 router and would like to extend the wireless range of my Note 3 by having it connected via USB.
I am using the app WiFi Tether Router to generally tether, but it seems I need to enable USB Tethering in system options to have it work with the router. However, this is the official option from T-Mobile so if I enable it, it will use my tether/hotspot limit for the month.
Is there any way I can hide that for USB tethering? Or has the WiFi Tether router any option I miss for that?
Also, I do not need to set the router into AP mode for that, right?
Thanks
