SM-G920F in Canada (Koodo) - Galaxy S6 General

Hi, I'm having bad signal reception with this phone with Koodo, is it compatible with the bands in Canada?
Thank you!

I don't believe the F variant has the AWS band, which is used in Canada. You can try switching to 3G only, see if that helps.

Today I got 4G most of the day, the cellular reception is bad thought compared to my Nexus 5. Most of the time, even at the center of the city, I usually get only 1 bar of signal.
I bought it from the Amazon Prime sale, I can return it if anything's wrong.

Try disabling LTE then.

Wow full signal now! What's up with my phone?

Full signal after disabling LTE, or just on its own?

Full signal after disabling LTE.

The phone doesn't have the AWS band for LTE.

Aw snap, so, what do I have to look right off the bath with another new phone? Which band is AWS?

If it's any Samsung, the W8 models are what you want.

Best 4G network in London?

I'm stuck between choosing EE or Vodafone for 4G for use with my Samsung Galaxy Note III. All I'm really concerned with is 4G availability (I have checked my post code and both are available there) and 4G speed in London.
With those who understand mobile spectrum and are aware of which 4G spectrum each network bought, which 4G network would you advise for an urban city like London?
Thanks.
P.S - O2 didn't buy any of the 2.6 GHz band, which is the reason why I'm not considering them for use in London.
Using O2 in Leeds and it is quite simply superb. Even in our village 7 miles out of town.

That's pretty good!
Is 4G draining your battery more rapidly than say using 3G?

But hold on doesn't Vodafone use the old 2g bandwidth and therefore have better building penetration than EE?

That is correct. They bought a large chunk of the 800 Mhz spectrum which has the best building penetration out of all three of spectrums on sale (800 Mhz, 1800 Mhz and 2.6 Ghz spectrum).

LTE prefered

Anyway to make the phone use LTE as a preffer network? Mine keep switching to HSPA+
And while someone is at it, please tell how to do hspa+ONLY

Dial *#*#info#*#* go to phone scroll down and u see wcdma only...click that
I think the phone is designed to prefer LTE. It drops to HSPA+ in the absence of LTE.

Pretty sure thats not true, atleast for tmobile version. Mine drop to hspa+ even though LTE have 2 bar. Quiet annoying.
T-Mobile LTE isn't widespread. I can be in one spot with lte then cross the street and be on hspa. I think this phone is set to go with what's stronger.

L720 on Verizon??? I have it working but the signal bar says roaming when it is not.

Hello.
I have a L720 with a active vzw sim card and the phone is running cm11 but it says roaming in the status bar but the phones 3g and phone and texting works. Is there a way to get it to say 3g of lte up there? A better rom maybe? I have searched and there is no one that has this phone on vzw. Any help would be so nice! Thanks
Have a great night.
I'm pretty sure Verizon and sprint use different spectrums for LTE you'll get 3g but no lte
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
OK but the phone should have the right stuff but what about the prl and roaming thing?

Yeah sprint galaxy s4 has the bands for T-Mobile and Att 3g and hspa+ networks Verizon I have no clue which bands they use you'd be better off just trading in and getting a Verizon phone to get their speeds
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
I agree, if you are paying the premium for Verizon service I would just get the Verizon version of the phone.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Thanks this is not my phone just was testing it that's all lol thanks again! The friend that owns this is going to try it on t mobile next but the first time they tried it did not work only data worked for some crazy reason voice and texting came on and went off so we will try that latter.

[Q] Is it normal for LTE to intermittently switch between LTE and 4G?

I've frequently been noticing my GS5 to have a really strong LTE connection (~90Mbps) and minutes later without moving at all I'm suddenly on 4G (HSPA+?). Is anyone else experiencing this or should I get my unit exchanged?

Have you tried re-flashing the modem in ODIN? It's probably not going to work, but before returning it, it's worth a try.

The thing is that I'm not rooted and running pure stock 4.4.2 since day one so I don't see why my modem would not be fine.

One theory I have about it is that my SIM card has been put in and out of many phones and perhaps the contacts are a little weak at this point. Do you know if that would affect my signal?

No, it has nothing to do with signal. The phone can get signal even without a sim card. All the sim card does is register you on the network. If the sim card was bad, it would most likely kick you off the network completely.
One last thing: Have you edited the APN settings at all? Are you sure they are the default supplied by your carrier?

There are different version of 4g HSPA+ is known as 4G but it is different from 4G LTE. Have u tried editing the band priorities maybe their competing against each other.

Which carrier is doing that? how confusing.
Wiki:
HSPA+, or Evolved High-Speed Packet Access, is a technical standard for wireless, broadband telecommunication. HSPA+ enhances the widely used WCDMA (UMTS) based 3G networks with higher speeds for the end user that are comparable to the newer LTE networks. HSPA+ was first defined in the technical standard 3GPP release 7 and expanded further in later releases.
In the United States, it is commonly available under AT&T Mobility and T-Mobile US.

Lol pretty much every carrier that has HSPA+ markets it as 4g because of speed

And just to clear things up for me, you will see 4g and lte icons in the taskbar and switch between the two respectively? Oh and I see no mention of 4G relating to HSPA+ but lte yes, so I still am unclear what the OP has asked.
Edit: nevermind it doesnt matter, very confusion lol. Sorry toews didnt mean to hijack your thread dude.
You can google your apn settings from google.
Example.
Att apn settings.
And you can go into settings more networks and create a new apn. Just make sure you enter it exaxctly as it reads.
Xda folks have alot if threads on different apns for achieving higher speeds. You create the new apn hit menu and then save toggle the new apn and reboot.. alot of times if your seeing fluctuation it can be due to a node on one if the local towers in your area.
But as stated it wouldnt hurt to upgrade your modem. Of course this does involve root and custom recovery such a twrp.. hope this helps.?

Three-channel carrier aggregation. T-Mobile rolled it out last year I believe but I have yet to see that in my location. Probably get some good speeds.

I think the same goes for Chicagoland area. We only just got band 12 fairly recent. Can't complain though as my data speeds average 60-70 down with bursts as high as 90-100 on single band.
