Replacement part is about $30. Not too hard to replace with some finesse, I swapped one out on a s6 edge, last summer.

I dunno dude, would totally depend on the adhesive used. You could always just sell it as is for repair/ blacklisted and get a replacement.

The thing that worried me, is that the replacement will not be waterproof as well because would if the replacement had the same problem and when it was fixed no proper adhesive used

Give Samsung a call and see if you have them replace it, what it would do to your IP68 rating. If they say that there will be no changes then I would ask how much they would charge.

Get one with proper adhesives all around and make sure the adhesives are waterproof. I do this for a living, its like a 30 second repair, as long as its a good adhesive or you dont mind putting a thin layer of glue on the edges before you clamp it down to keep it waterproof.

That's pretty good - it's $270 if you crack the front . I know three other people who own the S7e, and we have all cracked our phones either on the front or the back. It's not very durable, unfortunately. Having a case is a definite yes for this phone.

cracked evo screen! ha

dropped my phone from like 3 feet and this is what happened. luckily there is a place here in sac that can replace the glass for $100. i called in and they have the part. hopefully its legit.
saw the same thing happen last night. Kid told me today that sprint insurance doesn't cover screens anymore. Said they won't even look at an EVO if the screen is cracked. Is that true?
The Sprint store here doesn't cover glass screens. Best Buy has their insurance policy and they will cover cracked screens though. My friend just dropped his Evo and it cracked the screen, when he had someone repair it they accidentally punctured the LCD with a piece of the broken glass. He now has a fairly dead Evo, but the guy is willing to replace the parts next week when he gets them in.
It honestly is very easy to repair the digitizer and the LCD screen (Depending on which one you need).
I knew fairly nothing about the phone, I did a little research and bought the "Type 1" LCD screen for the HTC Evo. The connector was too small so I did more searching, I eventually found the right screen at GlobalPartsDirect. (Search google).
It has the Wide Connector that you'll need if you have one of the HDW004/3. I personally would open up the back of the phone and check the connector myself, If i were you.
It's an easy fix, only question, do you have the money to buy two from globalpartsdirect (They only ship in multiples). Then you're golden, plus, you'll have an extra LCD screen to repair your phone if it happens again.

Wait what?? TEP doesn't cover screen glass??
Damn I dropped mine off my lap on concrete from sitting in a car, glass down and not one crack or mark. Got super lucky.
Which place in sac?

TEP no longer covers cracks over an inch in length. A small crack can get replaced because it is covered under normal wear.

No, they won't even look at it. I was told exactly that by the rep of the repair center I went to. "We are not allowed to even touch the phone if the glass is cracked." They will not fix it. I even offered to buy the parts myself and pay for the labor, and that is when I was told they can't even look/touch it.

Well, it's total equipment protection in the same sense that a bumper-to-bumper warranty covers your car. If your car's engine takes a crap on you and your car is under warranty, they will fix it. However, if there is a rock on the road and you go over it with your car and crack the oil pan, all the oil leaks out and then your engine gets seized, you wouldn't really take it to the dealer for a warranty repair, would you?
In that case, you would call your car insurance company which is where Asurion comes in.
Gravity is not Sprint's fault. However, I think they should fix the phone if you are willing to pay for it instead of having to find some 3rd party electronics repair shop to do it. If they did, then maybe people wouldn't be committing insurance fraud like DirtyShroomz mentioned.
See, if I drop my phone now again and I call Asurion, they will replace it and then refuse to give me coverage until a year passes by, since you're only allowed two claims per year. If Sprint would have fixed my phone for $100, I would have given them the $100 instead of Asurion and saved the claim for the day I lose it or damage it beyond repair. I think Sprint is actually losing revenue by turning away repair jobs from phones that fall under the "physical damage" category.
Correct, Sprint's coverage has never been accidental. They used to occasionally cover drops, but spills and water damage have always been out of the question. It's the reason I buy my phones at Best Buy. I don't have to wait for a rebate, and I can get 100% accidental (full submersion included) protection on my phone, with a loaner phone if it needs to be sent out. It's 10 bucks a month, but compared to a new phone it's not bad.
That being said, I don't have it on my Evo as I know how to change out LCD panels now.
Assurion covers it.
I called in Friday about a broken screen(the entire piece of glass was shattered) and I got my brand spankin new Evo on Monday
That screen replacement deal was good while it lasted. Had my TP2 screen replaced under TEP before selling ur on here. Well, actually they ordered me a whole other phone, as they had no screens in stock. Too bad they are so whack about it now.
I've seen official policy posted before. It's anything over an inch is not supposed to be repaired. But what the hell is the difference? 1" vs shattered screen, you still replace the same pieces right?

I always use a rubber. Its kept my phone in great shape.
Cracked mine a couple weeks ago, called insurance and next day had a brand new 004 not a refurb. I was very happy with that. Also they shiped me a battery ,charger and 8gb memory card but just wanted my phone back in return. Not a bad deal .
You don't have to buy in bulk...I have lcd and digitizers for sale together already. I sold one to.crucial on the forum and a back housing to another member

Cracked Screen

Just a word of caution when changing covers. Do not press to hard on the screen when pushing the cover on. I know have a cracked screen and absolutely heart broken. So to that end, anyone suggest any good insurance companies in the UK?

ah that's sad news sorry to hear that
I don't know if you are in the UK but if you are then many bank accounts give free insurance for phones, etc.that option might be there in other countries too.but you need the right type of bank account for that.my bank account gives me free travel insurance, break down cover for my car and phone insurance among other things.a lot cheaper than getting these separately.

I dropped min today from 20cm height and first 5 minutes later it cracked in 2 pieces so I feel your pain. I checked what the spare part costs, and it was 285 euro's for the AMOLED+Glass apparently it is glued together so everything has to be replaced, and then you need to add the work costs. So it probably will be cheaper to buy a used one and sell yours for parts
Just broke my screen the other day. Getting out of my car, note was between me and car door. Didnt end well. 250 for lcd combo on ebay.
It reminds me of my first scratch on my vehicle, dont want to touch it.

No, this is wrong. Manufacturers lie about only way to replace glass+display. I broke the Galaxy S screen, and at samsung service they told me to replace everything, and that I have no chance to replace only screen. But I decided to try replace it by my self. I buy glass for Galaxy S on ebay for 9$. Then, using guitar pick I removed shards of glass. Then pasted on the sides of the glass with glue. And that's it! Fits perfectly. Works even better than before.
Yeah I need to upgrade current account to get it...don't have a problem doing it but was just unsure how long it will be before I can claim. But I also thought it might take longer to get it repaired than going for a mobile phone specialist insurer...also with the bank insurance..I know a while back my brother claimed and they didn't even ask for his old phone that was easily repaired!
Also just like to add...I really didn't apply that much pressure to the screen been, nursing this baby. So be careful. Wouldn't wish it on anyone to go through the pain I am.

Getting and claiming phone insurance after your phone is broken is fraud!
Either insure your phone beforehand, or deal with the consequences of not doing so, but don't break the law, and put the premiums up for people who had more foresight than you!

I think also like you !!!
;-)
I would strongly suggest you did not claim for it after the event as this is a criminal offence.
You may however, wish to check if your household (contents) insurance covers such damage and/or if your credit card covers accidental damage if you used it.

You can go to most shops and get your Galaxy S fixed for 90-100 euro where they only switch the glass but with the Note you can't find anyone, only to replace the whole thing. I have an insurance but was not sure if I was going to use it because it is my 2 device in 1 year that went busted. But it is painful to be remembered every time I turn it on so I will find out what the costs is going to be and use my insurance. I guess not using the insurance when you have it is to commit fraud

The final bill was 2.5k. Bangalore is he it hub that must be why it is cheaper there. Was thinking of getting a white cover.
First my G3 showed weird colours onscreen and would not boot and I tried atleast six times.
The next day I showed to my friends how poor service samsung gives but my phone miraculously came back to life only to make fun of me. Only this time I had booted it without a sim. Now its working as well as ever.

[Q] Just dropped my phone off my nightstand, there's a crack. Can I get it replaced?

Heh, critics weren't lying when they said the Galaxy S4 is way more fragile than the S3. I knocked off my nightstand in the middle of the night, landed on my wooden floor and have this dumb hairline crack.
The phone is only 5 days old and this may seem like a dumb question but is it possible for AT&T to switch it out?
Unless you have cell phone insurance, probably not.... I would try to say it was in your pocket and then when you took it out it cracked....
Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry to see that. I read that there was a possible recall because of easy screen fracture, perhaps you can search the forums and find link. I hope you're able to get it resolved to your satisfaction. Be sure and let us know how it goes if you try to swap it out with AT&T.
Seeing the picture that you posted just makes me want to put this phone inside of case, even though I know it will make it look hideous!

OP I think you can sign up online for insurance within 14 days of getting the phone. Check your plan/phone options on AT&T website. You do not have to prove to them that the phone is in impeccable condition.
You might want to look into 3rd party insurance that covers that type of thing, such as Square Trade for future phone purchases. Accidents will happen, but most warranties don't cover things like this.
And in terms of the crack itself, I think this proves what I always suspected about Gorilla Glass 3 - it is stronger by design, so they make the layer thinner so the phone is thinner. The layer of smaller thickness is just as strong (hopefully not less strong) than the thicker layer of GG2 on SGS3.
With the screen larger than the one on SGS3, there is less bezel on sides of the screen, less support for the glass layer, and that makes the whole screen less rigid.

Yeah unfortunately I did the same thing, and mine got a crack in it, what is really unfortunate is the fact that the lcd touchscreen and glass may be glued or so close together, you might have to get the whole thing fixed and samsung charges 169.95 to do it and I've been told if you wait a few months it will get cheaper, but I don't know by how much.
Otterbox defeats these incidents ...dropped mine out of an airplane 15 ft and not a single scratch...

It is not fraud. You are NOT obliged to have a functioning device while signing up for this insurance online. They just make the sign up window short, to protect themselves.
But speaking of this insurance, yes, i just checked, AT&T will charge you $199 deductible for SGS4!!!!!!!!!! That is on top of $7/month ($84/year) they want you to pay for insurance.

Better to invest in the ugly (to some) otterbox or kraken.
unless you have insurance, or you must pay some money for this damage:laugh:
Sorry for not posting, I've been busy with work.
An update: I talked to AT&T and told them I received the phone like that and must have happened when it was shipped. There's no physical damage as I can tell. The crack is on the inside of the screen. I sent the phone out to them and they said they'll inspect it and ship me a new one.
I would def recommend getting a case, something that can survive a fall because I had a case on this but it's pretty lightweight compared to others.

Damn that sucks. Sometimes it's just the angle of the hit that gets you. I'm wondering if it caught a corner or edge of something on the screen. It really sucks if the glass cracked from the tension produced by the corner of the shell hitting the ground.

If I find a defect or blemish on a new phone, that was a manufacturing issue, I may return it for replacement. If I caused the issue and it was minor, I'd ignore it because a case will hide it anyways.
If it was a serious damage... cracked screen, etc.. and it was my fault, I'd just pay the insurance to get it replaced.
Note: I'd also be more descriptive in my subject/title if you want to get more response.. Instead of "would you?" I would have put "Would you return your Note 3 if it has a blemish?"

Correct me if I'm wrong but you've just admitted it's not a defect but it fell off your night stand onto the tile with no case. This would indicate physical damage so unless you have a flawless return policy, you may be out of luck. I know in Canada, if this were the case, we would be told to suck it up and be stuck with a device we would need to sell privately or wait before we're entitled to a hardware upgrade.

The point is.. he didn't 'start' with a damaged phone. He dropped it and didn't have a case on it. I have a cheap $3 case on mine, until the case I want comes out. If you don't protect your phone and you drop it, it's your fault, not the manufacturers. That's my opinion anyways.

It's all good. I only responded to you post, because it appeared you were replying to my comment. It appears now that you just hit the wrong reply button. No harm man.

I have a chip the size of a point of a pen on the side chrome bezel. I have no case because Im waiting for my UAG and Spigen case to arrive. Im still within my 14 day return period. I thought about actually taking it back to get a replacement due to the small blemish, although, I admit it's kind of silly to exchange the phone for something so small. It just sucks that my baby is not perfect any more. Knowing I have an opportunity to exchange it, I just might. How many of you would exchange it for a new one for something so small?

GL with this. Let us know if your successful or not.
I dropped mine on concrete from about 1.5 feet up. Very little damage on the side, which I could EASILY live with.
Sadly, the entire display died slowly over a 24hr period. I kid you not, I could almost see the screen slowly die. Inside, I was crying.
But it was my fault, and almost got laughed out of the store when I tried to get insurance on it /facepalm.
Now I'm in the market for a full screen/digitizer/front assembly housing. And the phone isn't even 1 month old! /cry
For the price you've paid, you deserve a flawless product, return it and enjoy a full product. In other words go get a replacement!

I'm sorry but isn't that what insurance is for? Doesn't matter if you drop the phone in the toilet, you can still get a replacement, otherwise why have insurance in the 1st place, if the damage is from before you got it or Samsung's fault isn't that what the warranty is for....
Yes and get a different color.
Man I'm on the Otterbox Defender's notification list for when it becomes available. But I still dumped $20 on a screen guard and a crappy gel case at purchase. Solid investment for the short-term, and I even have replacement insurance. Sorry but I can't even fathom the amount of rage I'd have at myself for being in that predicament. I like to keep my stuff in mint condition for resale when it's time to upgrade.

Ok Y'all. At&t replaced it today, no hassle. They even installed a brand new glass screen protector, no charge. I wish my cases would arrive already! For now Im putting in a invisishield sock.
Not worth the hassle as you might end up with a new unit with other characteristics, like wonky home button or gaps around the glass.
