Questions on Unlocked htc 10 being used on verizon ( not full verizon conversion ) - Verizon HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know what this letter C like deal is between my wifi symbol and my call signal ? I was going to ask dottat big D but it seems we have lost him to the forum. He will be missed he was always a good contributing member and a good friend to many of us including myself. He will not easily be replaced and he will be missed. Best of luck to you D a lot of us appreciated everything you did for us.
Now on what I have going on, mine is an unlocked htc 10 s-off unlocked, verizon picks it up as a verizon htc 10 for reasons we are not supposed to discuss on here, so what was done is flashed the verizon htc 10 radio and such as Dottat has on his thread, but what I think is going on is mine is picking the verizon signal up as roaming which it is not, so my problem is in the phone itself and not in my verizon service. The reason why I have it set up to be picked up as a verizon 10 is because I run it on total wireless prepaid which is $35 a month unl talk & text with 5 gigs of verizon data throttled to 5 mbps down and two up. If it was on a post paid account then I could activate the sim in another phone and put in this unlocked 10 and it would work fine registered as an unlocked 10, but for total wireless if you activate the sim in another phone and put it in the unlocked 10 you will only get 3g data I think its this way for all verizon mvno the only exception would be verizon prepaid.
So here is what I have tried I"am running viper10 2.2.0 the first time in viper set up while flashing I selected the phone as unlocked 10 which is where I"am back to because I tried flashing again and selecting the phone as verizon 10 and it was working great problem fixed until I find out camera wont work it turns on then right back off so I tried uninstalling the htc 10 camera app then clear cashe and reboot and re install it from the play store and same deal open the camera app and it closes immediately, then flashed viper again going back to selecting phone as unlocked 10 during rom flash, and camera works great again. I really do not want to convert to a verizon 10 as I like my updates from htc directly and not from douche bag verizon lol. Anyone know this issue ? I do not need to convert to verizon 10 as prepaid does not use Volte so converting is worthless and of no benefit. I dont know if the issue is firmware related but wouldnt you think the unlocked 10 and verizon 10 would use the same software for the camera ? It makes no sense. I guess for the time being I wont have a camera and if I cant find a camera fix I will wait it out for the new nexus 5.5 inch screen phone expected to be due out in a month or two. Anyone have any clue on a camera fix ? Because as unlocked 10 flashed viper10 it works great except the camera wont work at all ?

Here is a screenshot showing the C

I forgot to mention not only is my htc 10 trying to roam, it does not want to send texts they fail sending and that is even trying using verizon messages. And I tried flashing the verizon radio again each time after flashing viper10 and switching from unlocked 10 to verizon 10, and then back to unlocked 10 again to confirm camera was working right again which it was now I will have to flash viper10 again and once again set it up in flash as a verizon 10, have no choice, either my total wireless verizon mvno service works and camera does not or camera working and no service yeah thats a no brainer lol. So there is where I"am and no Dotat to save me this time lol

you cant use the unlocked option on viper if your going to use it on Verizon. the Verizon option in aroma flashes the necessary files to make it work properly on their network, like system apps, libs, apn info, framework files, etc.....
the camera breaks due to mismatched firmware on your phone. you need Verizon radio and firmware for it to work properly. flash the latest Verizon RUU and radio if needed and then reflash viper with the Verizon options. if your using it for Verizon the unlocked firmware and options no longer apply to you and are now on verizons time when it comes to updates.

Yeah I will pass on that I guess I can do without camera as I do not want to convert to a verizon version. I like my updates quick and clean from Htc and not from slow verizon who takes months so they can try to figure out extra bloat to add or any other ways they can try to lock your phone down more.
With viper10 2.2.0 set up as a verizon 10 then flashing the verizon radio everything works perfect except no camera so no camera is better to me than putting any nasty verizon software on my phone I dont even want their firmware nothing verizon that I absolutely do not have to have like my unlocked motorola nexus 6 is I get nothing from verizon but the call signal and their LTE data just as it should be.

I just flashed the 1.19.605..9_s_on RUU that Dottat provided for Verizon onto my Sprint HTC 10. Everything works great, except for one thing: the camera launches a black, flashing screen in any camera app. I'm guessing this is due to some mismatch of firmware on the device?

Can anyone shed some light on this? I read on this thread here that people are experiencing this, but it isn't clear why, and what possible solutions might be...

[Guide] How to switch from AT&T to T-Mobile and keep your SM-N900A fully functional
** DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A DEVELOPER. I DO THIS AS A HOBBY AND SHARE MY FINDINGS IN CASE SOMEONE ELSE FINDS THEM USEFUL. **
** THIS WORKED ON MY DEVICE BUT IT MAY NOT WORK ON YOURS. APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK **
Background
I always hated AT&T. When I got my first US cell phone in 1998, AT&T was a dominant force and Cingular was the underdog that provided better service. So for years I went out of my way to keep it Cingular through all of my relocations and phone number changes. Then AT&T bought Cingular and I was forced to become an AT&T subscriber. Then the iphone came along on the AT&T network, with the unlimited internet plan, which sealed my fate with this carrier for years.
At some point AT&T stopped offering the unlimited plan and I was one of the lucky ones who had their iphone plans grandfathered in. That prevented me for a long time from switching, but it became increasingly clear that AT&T has no intention of letting me use my plan as intended. All the signs were there: from threatening text messages every time I tried to tether my phone, to insulting slow-downs of data transfer after 2-5G of usage. At some point one gets tired of feeling like a criminal who is constantly trying to trick the carrier to squeeze a little more service here and there.
The last straw was when they made it very clear that they will not allow me to use a tablet as a phone, even if it has phone capabilities, even if I let go of my unlimited data plan! Their solution? buy a new data-plan only for your tablet. I am done with this $#(^. T-mobile had me at hello. All it takes is to notice the choice of music they play for you when you are on hold with the customer service: ATT: elevator music, T-mobile: Miley Cyrus.
So, here is what I did to make the switch and keep my note 3 issued by AT&T to use on T-mobile network.
Why?
If your phone is unlocked you can certainly pop the new sim card in and it will latch on to the T-mobile network. However you will be missing all the goodies that come with a T-mobile issued phone. Hence my journey to T-mobilize my SM-900A. A T-mobile Note 3 has an unlocked bootloader. I cannot have that transferred to an AT&T phone. But there are other good things that can be ported over. For example T-mobile's WiFi calling is implemented at the OS level and you cannot just copy over an APK to make it work. So if you follow this guide you will be able to turn your phone on and boot it up to (almost) exactly what a SM-N900T looks and behaves like.
Requirements:
1- Your phone should be on Jelly bean 4.3. Mine was on N900AUCUBNB4 but lower versions will work too. I have no intention of upgrading my phone to Kitkat anytime soon because I simply do not see the advantage. However, an experienced developer should be able to modify this process for Kitkat.
2- Your phone should be rooted.
3- You will need about 5G of empty space to install the T-mobile ROM.
4- Read the instructions below once before you start anything. If any word or phrase does not make sense to you STOP, google, ask questions, make sure you understand it, then continue.
Instructions:
1- Always backup your important stuff before doing a thing like this to your phone.
2- Root your phone if it already isn't. Your options that won't trip knox are Kingo and Towelroot. I recommend the latter.
3- dwitherell has done a great job of preparing a Jelly Bean T-mobile Rom for porting to AT&T. Download TweakedN3v2.0.12614 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625946
4- This ROM is pre-rooted but contains a few things that should be removed or tweaked for our purpose. Unzip it somewhere.
5- Delete vrtheme directory and bootcolx.img and bootstock.img
6- Replace defaults\install.prop with the file attached below.
7- Replace META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script with the file attached below.
8- Re-zip the whole thing again and call it N3-Tmobile.zip (or whatever you want)
9- Copy that to your sdcard. It may also be a good idea to copy a file manager apk like "File Manager HD" on your sdcard as well so you can later install it when the T-mobile Rom is in place.
10- Install Note 3 AT&T Safestrap 3.71 for Jelly Bean on your phone. It can be found at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572978
11- Boot into Safestrap recovery and create a Rom slot. Call it T-mobile or whatever you like. Activate it.
12- From the Safestrap main menu, install the N3-Tmobile.zip that you created in step 8 into the T-mobile slot. Be careful not to mess up your Stock Rom slot. The installation may take 3 to 10 minutes. If it takes longer, reboot the phone, wipe this Rom slot and try again.
13- When it is done, go to Safestrap main menu -> wipe -> advanced wipe -> select ONLY Dalvic, data, and cache, and the hit the wipe button.
14- Turn off the phone. Take out your AT&T sim card out, DON'T put your T-Mobile sim card in yet. Turn the phone on and reboot to the T-mobile Rom. Don't enable Wifi in the initial setup.
15- Now your T-mobile Rom is up and running but you don't have internet or cellular connections.
16- In your /system/app directory rename the following to [file_name].apk.bac (this is where the second part of step 9 becomes useful):
FotaClient.apk
FWUpgrade.apk
LocalFOTA.apk
SPPPushClient_Dev.apk
SyncmlDM.apk
16- Turn your phone off, put the T-mobile sim in it, turn on and enjoy.
If you want to swap the sim card back to AT&T, all it takes is to reboot to your stock ROM. Everything will be still there as you left them.
does it work?
Screen shots
Here is how well it has worked for me so far. I'm in Sweden now and their free sms abroad and unlimited Internet has so far worked as promised (although at data rates close to 100kb/s only which is expected. In the first screenshot I'm turning wifi off and as you can see the phone registers on to the local carrier. In the next screenshot I turned wifi calling on which allowed me to call back to the US for free. There was a half second audio delay but the quality was very good. Finally I attached my home screen shot that shows the T mobile apps that you get after this installation.
So far everything has been working great in the US and in Europe for me but please post your experience here if this has worked for you too.
Just to make sure we are on the same page, you had an ATT N3 and did this guide to get the TMO network. Is your baseband and broadband tmobile? That is what I am looking at. The ATT N3 works but I want the TMO Broadband / modems. Can you take a pic on the broadband page please. Does this chicken stract make sence?

Yes, i have an att n3 and i want it to work on t mobile network. The only thing this method flashes onto your phone is a /system partition. In fact that is all that you can do with safestrap. In one of the steps I am instructing you to remove the baseband from the zip so when you are done your baseband is still ATT.
I'm not sure why you want to flash t mobile base band on your ATT phone. The ATT BB (at least the BNB4) is fully capable of handling t mobile 4G LTE and other data bands.
What do you mean by "a picture of the broadband page?"

Second screenshot didn't include a blackout on the I.P. Considering you did that in the first screenshot, just pointing out you might want to for the second one as well.
I don't have a Note 3, my dad does. I'm just browsing the forums for an unlock method for SIM for NC(2?) firmware. I like where this one is going. Dad doesn't want me testing sh^& on his phone though, so no luck there. Sorry, but if another tests and claims it works, I'll have all permission to experiment.

Thanks for pointing that out. The reason I did not mask the second ip address is that in the second picture the phone is on wifi and the ip address is an inside-the-house ip address. These addresses are typical in all internal networks and do not contain any identifying information.

Ah, my apologies. ^^
Switched from AT&T to T-Mobile
I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile and wanted to use my 2 Galaxy Note 3's SM-N9000A on T-mobile with all the benefits of T-Mobiles service (e.g. Wi-Fi calling, etc.). Firstly I had to get my phones sim unlocked, and then to find a rom that would port over T-Mobiles rom SM-N900T. After searching diligently to find answers I came across this thread. Najoor helped me get the rom installed (over PM's) and I unlocked the phones (cellunlocker.net under $30), and I am happily an ex-AT&T customer. I like having control over my cell phone plan, which I believe T-Mobile provides. Thanks again Najoor!
The big question still remains: Why? Just to add wifi calling and t mobile app? The 3g bands are still not enabled so it's either 2G, 4G LTE, or 4G. Does this add native wifi tethering? But you can do that with towel root and xposed framework.
I like to keep my AT&T option open, switching between T Mobile(cheaper $45 for 5GB, no tax) and Go Phone(1GB, $45, but better coverage, no tax also), but I recently rooted to take advantage of the tethering which does not work natively on T-mobile since it's an AT&T phone. I can't imagine being on T-Mobile if the signal is so bad that I would need WiFi calling and the t mobile app works just fine on the AT&T Note 3.
Wait so even if I flash another modem I can't enable the 3G bands? I'm pretty sure I just did
Was looking for something like this.
So, the latest TMOBILE based ROM is only jellybean 4.3 ? Is there a kit kat version.

Look at how to enable the AWS band on the note 3 thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516224
I don't think it has been done. Are you getting 3g in some area? I'm in a good coverage area and only see 4g or 4g LTE. Haven't taken it outside the good coverage area yet but I'm expecting edge only after I leave the 4g area.
I'm having an issuse.
I did exactly what you said, installed safestrap sucessfully, made a rom slot, extracted tweaked whatever, deleted bootstock and bootcolx and vrtheme replaced the two files, installed Tweaked-whatever on that rom slot, deleted Cache, Dalvid Cache, and data and rebooted. It doesn't work. It just gives me a black screen!
What do I do? This doesn't make any sense
EDIT: Didn't realize this thread was dead! Oops!

Hello buddy. I would like to try this method to use wifi calling. Where did you get the mod?
It doesn't work.
Just go to Cricket. $60 a month prepaid unlimited talk, unlimited text, and 10GB of data. All on the AT&T network.

The Ntelos S5

I have an ntelos S5 (G900R7). There is no development for this phone anywhere on the internet. Perhaps I can find support here?
---------
So far (you may skip this part):
I have managed to successfully install Spirit Rom with full functionality, by copying my old build.prop into the system directory, and restoring my previous apn settings using the apnsbu. I forget why I left this rom, but I did. Everything I try has some problem! I then proceeded to try just CM11, by itself, and had 3g difficulties. Then, using Kushman's sprint MIUI, (Ntelos shares sprint towers) things seemed to work right, but it remapped my recent app key to menu... (perhaps I can map it back?) and the volume was not controlled by my physical volume buttons.
-----------
Now my favorite rom so far: Mokee Rom It's fast and visually pleasing, but I have wi-fi and phone difficulties.
After imposing my APN settings, I can reproduce these effects:
(1) Before replacing build.prop, the wi-fi works and can be enabled or disabled as I need. Also, 3g works very well at nice speeds, but it says "Verizon Wireless" underneath the 3g indicator bars. However, I cannot make calls. If I attempt to do so, the 3g data stops working, turns orange, and no longer says "3g". If I do this, then no data can be transmitted or received.
(2) After Replacing build.prop with the "good original" copy (which sometimes fixes similar problems in other custom roms) the wi-fi becomes stuck in a constant state of "turning wi-fi on..." but never turns on. 3g still works, but, as in part (1), it will break if I try to make a call.'' Also, in this case it says "Sprint" instead of "Verizon Wireless"
Does any one have advice, or perhaps some build.prop settings to modify? Or maybe there's a different file that would help. Again, my phone is the SM G900R7. Has someone else with this phone had luck customizing it?
Thank you
nTelos S5
Likewise have a nTelos S5, have not found any custom roms that can successfully be installed without data or phone issues.
Also trying to install any ASOP roms resulted with all phone efs data getting cleared.
Upon searched relentlessly the only rom I found that functions is located at
http://teamcspire.com/index.php?/topic/112-gs5-g900r7-r2-teamcspire-nd8stock-deodexed-101814/
its very stock but functions flawlessly for me.
Advise if you have any luck, I will reciprocate.

My advice is to you, is that if you install Mokee rom, do not update it with OTA update. This is what I think broke the network for me. Even after restoring my phone to factory conditions and using Kies, I still had no network. I ended up going to the nTelos store, where they had to reset the network service for my phone on their end... strange.
Anyway, I have made a few roms work, and I suspect I could make more. If you maintain your apn settings, and build.prop, you should be able to make Spirit rom work. The same thing is true for Miui. However, if I remember from my experience correctly, if you do install Miui, then I THINK you should not restore your original build.prop; it may work without it... just restore the apn settings. When you do this, you may have to change the preferred network mode... I am a little freaked out, after my previous experience with Mokee rom, to mess with this any longer, though. I do have a problem with Spirit rom: if I use the Timely alarm clock, the time panel is miscolored, but I believe that could possibly? be fixed by flashing a different kernel. I plan on flashing Spirit tonight.... stock uses up my battery too fast, and Spirit just feels more responsive.
EDIT: I just re-flashed Spirit Rom, and they fixed the discoloration in the most recent version! Also, as before, my 3g and WiFi work fine.
Took me days...
The CSpire shares the model number and ROM. The US Cellular CM11 is the closest. Somewhere in that I lost my ability to send texts (not sure if it's the SMSC or...) and didn't get it back when I ODIN'd to stock. I would LOVE to have CM support for this model.
I also am in the same boat as you guys. I would love to get another reliable ROM on this phone. I just have bad memories of purchasing my last one (Sprint GS3) from ebay, and having one hell of a time making the MMS work after flashing it for nTelos. However, I never did have to mess with any of the APNs or build.prop settings on that one. I would think the Sprint ROMs should be the closest compatible ROM, being that nTelos and Sprint do share towers in WVa and Va (Sprint actually has zero towers in these states, and leases nTelos towers instead).
Is using EFS Backup by Wanam a good method to insure the EFS does not get screwed up?

You might try saving out your wpa_supplicant file from the stock ROM and replacing it on the flashed ROM. This has worked for me before on my GS3. That might take care of the wifi anyway.
I'm also on ntelos with the s5 now. But it is a us cellular unlocked by them phone. Stuck in a ntelos sim card that I bought from store and everything works. Except 4g. I can live w/o it but it's kinda like a puzzle now. How could I enable this to work on ntelos?
Depending on where you are, ntelos does not have 4G in many places yet. It's still very spotty in West Virginia.
Has anyone taken the OTA Lollipop update? If so, how is it working and does it lock or put in a new bootloader?
I have. It's a little laggy at times, gets really hot when using it while charging and battery drains a little faster. Not sure about the bootloader

I think I will hold off for a while. My stock NK1 is laggy enough as is. Damn, I wish there was a compatible ASOP ROM available for this phone.
Honestly, this Samsung G5 is the absolute worst phone I have ever owned! I would like to get a S6, but my experience has been so bad with this S5, I am almost afraid to stick with Samsung. However, my S3 was awesome!
Just found out that the heart rate sensor is active when the phone is on no matter if S Health is open or not.
I am in the Richmond area on Ntelos. They have stated they have sold their bandwidth to T-Mobile and we are to find another carrier. My phone is not even a year old and no other carrier will activate it. Being I own mine outright and paid close to $600, I am about to lose my mind knowing that I will have a shiny expensive very small tablet in a few months. Has anyone a clue how to change this phone over to GSM or something useful. Verizon refused to even try, though I know when I tried Straight Talk's Verizon Sim it did dial to Verizon's customer service. But Straight Talk nor Verizon would activate it.
Ideas and suggestions welcome.

page plus,i am an ntelos dealer and pageplus dealer i flash phones to and from both companies everyday i am in ruckersville va 12 mile north of charlottesville lemme know if you need help you right its the enitre eastern side of the companyh is gone now to tmobile but you can still activate on frawg..ive done many for customers
Thanks for the info. I am on the frawg side of things now. Their plans were too much when mine ended and I didn't need a phone at the time. Then a few years later, yeah I made my S1 last almost 4 years, I bought the S5 late last year outright. Loved the S1. Made that do everything it just did everything slow at the end.
Anyway, am glad there are options of some sort. Have been reading the reviews of pageplus. What kind of speeds are you getting on it with 4G? Their map shows coverage everywhere which makes me a bit uneasy, as in too good to be true. Is it a simple flash or require editing?
If I can't do something else with the phone, I may try the band opening options. According to the phone specs, it should already have all the Verizon bands but they refuse to activate it due to the meid it seems. I have a feeling this topic may get more viewers as the Ntelos off switch day comes closer.
Google Fit was the culprit for the heart rate sensor staying on. Un-installed it and fixed it
After all this time, has anybody found a ROM that works well on this phone?

In case nobody has seen this, there is a now a CyanogenMod 5.1.1 ROM available now for nTelos. I have been running it for 3 days now and I really like it. Good battery life too. Very stable and very speedy. There are some occasional bluetooth audio stuttering issues, but nothing terrible.

No VOLTE and no WiFi calling T-Mobile, what gives?

I'm gonna make a post here since NOTHING seems to be working. I'm a T-Mobile customer. Yesterday, I purchased a great condition nexus 6P from someone because my LG G5 is cracked and I was getting tired of it anyway so I opted to just buy a nexus instead of using my insurance on that phone. Everything is all good except for one major issue. VOLTE and WiFi calling just refuse to work with my sim in the Nexus.
I've called T-Mobile twice. I've factory reset from back up and reset settings twice. I've hard reset from stock recovery once. I've wiped network settings and restored default apns. I've manually changed the apns from what I see on Google, reddit and here. I've copied my apns from my LG G5 where VOLTE and wifi calling work perfectly fine. I've cleared cache. I've cleared the cache of the project fi and hangouts apps just in case there's something left over from the previous owner. I've gone into the *#*#4636 menu and tried a bunch of different stuff several times but no matter what I absolutely can not get wifi calling or VOLTE to work with TMobile on my nexus 6P. LTE it's self works perfectly fine for data.
Yes, all settings for wifi calling and enhanced LTE calling and VOLTE are turned on lol. I've tried the trick where you toggle wifi preferred on and off and restart the phone. Nothing happens. I don't even get a wifi calling reg error. It never shows as active in the data toggle in the quick settings are nor the status bar or dialer. It just isn't active. Same for VOLTE. I AM getting band 12. I can see it in the LTE discovery app. VOLTE just isn't working though. Whenever I make a call I can see LTE switching off and it switches to HSPA therefore making calls really difficult in my shoddy signal area at my house which is why I really need it to work.
I'm fairly certain I can root and install a ROM which will fix these problems but I don't own a PC. . I thought MAYBE the previous owner had previously had the phone rooted and tinkered with something somewhere that may have messed something up but that doesn't appear to be the case. Bootloader is locked and recovery is stock.
Can anybody help and tell me what in the world is going on here? I don't want to have to sell this nexus and revert back to my cracked screen G5. I would just switch carriers but I still owe money on the G5 so I was just gonna ride it out til I payed it off.
O and one last thing, after scowling google and forums for hours on end yesterday and today I did see one post mentioning something about this stuff being related to IMS provisioning and settings which are tied to a phones IMEI on T-Mobile and not the sim card and how that person simply called T-Mobile and got a hold of wifi calling technical support who was clueless but created a ticket for him and within 72 hours the issue was resolved. OK well I did the same exact thing and they refuse to create a ticket for me because it's not a T-Mobile phone and because according to them they are not allowed to create a ticket because wifi calling works fine in my G5 and therefore it's the phone and not them or their network lol. What a crock. I'm willing to bet if I put the sim in another unlocked phone with 7.1.1 and wifi calling fully available that it isn't going to work either. There's some sort of communication error going on between the sim being in this phone and their network it appears.
Check these screenshots out. T-Mobile is clueless

I can only suggest;
1) Find a PC and re-flash the latest factory images from Google. Both "fastboot flashing unlock" and "fastboot flashing lock" will wipe all data, so backup first. Also confirm it fully boots correctly after flashing before you re-lock the bootloader.
2) Get a new 3-in-1 SIMM from T-Mobile. You can use their web site to switch cards and give it 24 hours to be fully provisioned.
3) Confirm your E911 address is correct on T-Mobile's site and wait 24 hours after any changes for Wi-Fi calling to actually start working.
I HAVE THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AS YOU POSTED!!! GONE THRU THE SAME PAIN. LOL I'll attempt the ticket thing to see if I get anywhere. Did you ever get it resolved?
EDIT:
My theory is that since the phone was used in Project FI, they specifically turn off this feature in the back end for the specific phones, by Imei or something since project FI uses T-Mobile as well.
EDIT 2:
they wont' create a ticket for me either. I guess I will just have to ride it out.
EDIT 3: I FIXED IT!! NEXUS 6P VOLTE AND WI-FI CALLING FIX T-MOBILE
I flashed back to android 6.0 Build#: MMB29N (I used the Nexus ToolKit 2.1.9: google it. BTW, your phone will be wiped, so backup first) VOLTE just started working with this version of android 6.0. Then I upgraded using the OTAs and now i'm on 7.1.1 build#: N4F260 with VOLTE and Wifi calling working as it should! I hope this helps someone out there!
For what it's worth, reverting to the build you mentioned fixed it for me on my two Nexus phones coming from Project Fi to T-Mobile as well! Thanks for the help!
You only need to install the radio from build MMB29N. I did this by downloading the build from the android website. Extract the radio from the zip and install it (I used nexus root toolkit but you can also just use flashboot if you wanted). This means you don't even need to revert your image and lose your data.

wish I had seen this sooner. cheers!
Had the exact same issue and this fix worked for me. Wasted a couple of hours with T-mobile (they were actually very helpful and debugged everything on their end to confirm the provisioning was good) and then 2+ hours with Google support. Actually had already filed for a device replacement which I canceled after finding this post.
I'm so glad I found this thread - my VoLTE and WiFi calling has not been working on T-Mobile and I'm anxious to give this a try. Numerous phone calls and support tickets with T-Mobile haven't resolved the issue. I don't know much other than how to follow detailed directions. My phone isn't rooted and bootloader is locked. I'm on Android version 7.1.2. Is there a way for me to install the MMB29N radio on my Nexus 6P without losing my app data given that my bootloader is locked?

Flashing the radio -sadly- requires an unlocked bootloader.
Did you resolve your problem?
In android 7.1.2 did you notice in Set preferred network type is set at " LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) "? 7.1.2 has been giving me issues with sms/mms. I noticed Android 6.0 has this set to correct T-mobile bands.
All works for me in 7.1.2. Make sure you don't download the Verizon version of the stock ROM. That was my issue why I couldn't have volte and Wi-Fi calling

Anyone have a working custom ROM on Verizon/Sprint or other CDMA network?

I have only been able to get a stock image running on my G5 Plus. I can then load Magisk and get by but would really like to run PureNexus or RR. Every single custom ROM I have tried complains that the SIM card is missing on initial install which you can simply ignore and get the phone to basically work but you can never update your PRL or account settings over the network as the app just crashes the instant it's selected. And please don't tell me I need to insert a SIM card, of course there is a SIM card inserted it just can't see it.
Is there any US based developer out there with a G5+ on CDMA.
Maybe I am just missing something obvious but I don't see what it could be. My SIM is activated and works perfectly with the stock deodexed ROM.
Yes works fine on Verizon . My problem is the about phone has my device a xt1687 but I think it needs to be Moto g 5 plus to allow me to watch my movies I buy through Google
I'm with Verizon and like you I had a huge hassle getting LTE to work on any custom ROM except Pure Nexus. I think I tried at least 10 different custom ROMs and they all had the same issue upon the initial boot complaining about the SIM card, I simply skipped it of course. All the ROMs wanted to then just give me a constant 3G signal and no LTE. I tried a few things but ultimately all the ROMs started getting LTE and then I figured out that maybe I found the fix by luck. I'd logged onto Verizon and looked at some settings and noticed my phone showed up as a default device name. I simply changed that to something else and perhaps that fixed the issue while I was flashing all these ROMs.
Now my problem is different....it's backwards. LTE works great until i get in a rural area and then the phone wont change down to 3G or 1x. No signal at all for phone or text until get back into an LTE area. I think these issues have to be related to the APN settings the custom ROMs (except Pure Nexus) are using. I would like to copy all the APN related files from the stock ROM which works perfectly over to a custom ROM but I'm unsure of which files to copy. Try changing your device name on Verizon to see what happens after a few minutes. Worth a shot...

Google Fi

Anyone currently using this on Google Fi? How do you like the service and how is the phone performing?
LG G6 (VS988 Verizon Variant BOOOO) but on Google Fi
The service is awesome. I switch back and forth between T-Mobile and Google Fi SIMs. My phone is a bad example because even though I paid for it outright and I left Verizon only after my contract ended, I cannot install an unlocked bootloader or root my device and as far as I know this is a Verizon thing only, (meaning Verizon special crafted the Android OS before putting it out so as to prevent people from actually having that 100 percent ownership feeling.) However the data and everything is good. Start out slow, order your SIM through Google Fi (if they ask say you have the LG G7, trust me, they'll refuse to activate the G6 so I had to call back and lie and sure enough it worked. After I got my SIM in the mail (all over the web via the Fi website,) I popped it in, my phone asked for a restart because it has a new SIM, restarted phone and installed the Google Fi app from Play Store, a few seconds later and one more restart and the APNs all changed themselves, phone was in Global mode and zooming away. And...tsk tsk...I haven't paid for service yet but maybe it's because my phone is all locked up to Verizon but they are not recording any data usage for me neither so I have free service through Fi. THAT BEING SAID, I am a huge fan and patron to Google and their services so I'm going to call and get this issue resolved. I'm sure it's just that they need my IMEI or something of that sort. If you have any other variant of the LG G6, first off, congrats for not going through Verizon like I did and never being able to root/ADB bloatware and etc., and two, give it a shot. You can get your SIM and start using the service (talk/text at least) before paying anything and of course it's month to month so no commitment.
Oh ya! I also noticed, rather this is intentional on Google's part or not, that my Mobile Hotspot feature works as well If you have anymore specific questions feel free to let me know!
Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing that you started before November as they have now opened the program up to other phones including the G6. (Mine is an unlocked T-Mobile one, which I am on now, so should work fine as I will still be using T-Mobil's towers.)
I realize this is an old post, but wondering if you are still using fi with the LG G6. I am wondering if root will give me the ability to auto-switch between the 3 networks. It's a deal breaker for me if I'm stuck with just TMobile's network. I have the US Cellular variant.
Thanks.
