N910f instal custom rom - warranty - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem. My n910f on the factory warranty. I want to upload a custom rom. But what about the warranty? Did I lose it? After installing the root, you can return to sotck version? Please help.

did i lost warranty too if i get back to stock rom before using waranty procedure?

To install a custom rom means you'll trip knox. Tripping knox means you lose warranty. Once you trip knox, there's no going back. Installing stock rom will not untrip the knox e-fuse

Is my Note 3 eligible for replacement under warranty with the following status :

Hello again,
I'm not sure if I can replace my Note 3 under warranty FOC with the status screen at recovery showing the following messages :
Current Binary : Samsung Official
System Status : Custom
Knox Kernel Lock : 0x0
Knox Warranty Void : 0x0
I'm just worried about the System Status : Custom message. Is that a problem?
I unrooted using the method explained in this thread and this link directly takes to my post in that thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46511887#post46511887
Do I have to do anything else for replacement under warranty?
Thank you for any information.
Remove SD card and reboot. Then check status again.
Or you can just Flash stock room through Odin and it will all be official again.

Thank you. I flashed the official latest rom and everything is official again.
But why do I read so many times that flashing custom roms will void warranty, if this can be reverted by flashing official roms?
Is it that the knox will be tripped to 0x1? I flashed using the method I mentioned above but my knox stayed at 0x0...

Most custom roms require a custom recovery to be installed, this will trip Knox. Also most custom roms have altered kernels, this too will trip Knox.
You have simply gained root without replacing the recovery or the kernel.

There's a bit of murky waters regarding the warranty if knox is tripped. But recently Samsung have said knox tripping does not affect warranty. But to be on the safe side some people decide to not trip knox. There are ways to root and flash custom roms without trooping knox but not if you are on one of the latter bootloaders.
Once knox is tripped there is no going back as it stands. ..... But if you like to customize your phone and make it look and feel much nicer .... Who gives a foookk .....I for one don't?
Also knox can be tripped flashing stock firmware using odin.... If you are unlucky. ..

Thank you all for the Knox explanations. That cleared up some doubts of mine.

[Q] knox warranty 0x1

My phone is S4-i337M.with samsung MVLUEMK6 4.3.
After rooting or installing CWM in ODIN i noticed that knox warranty shows 0x1.
Phone boots normally - no issue. It safely can go to download mode.
Question: Is it OK to install custom roms without outright chance of bricking. (I understand the risk of bricking with any modification)
Thanks in advance.
Any suggestion, please?
Yes, you can install custom roms even though Knox has been tripped.

You might as well go all out and install custom everything, since Knox is already tripped anyway.

[Q] stock rom for N910F via odin no knox flag on

hay' i have note n910f with stock rom but no samsung rom and now i want to change it to stock from samsung.
if i will burn via odin stock rom did my knox flag will change to 0x1?
sorry for my bad english and thank's to the helpars.
Yes, flashing anything via Odin will trip your KNOX flag to 0x1. If that was the question..
@quadlt
Your answer is wrong
Stock Rom means original ROM.
Did you have a original Note 4 with original Rom?
Did you flash anything before?
If you're device is untouched, you can flash ANY original Samsung ROM via Odin without triggering Knox to 0x1

rom for SM-N910F
Hi
I just bought note 4 SM-N910F and i came unrooted with vision-x n4 ROM. The problem with rom is that the finger print does not work and there iss no data usage. When i boot(from the first time) on the upper of the screen there is written : Kernel is not seandroid enforcing
set warranty bit: kernel. Searching on the web this shows from the bloatware as there is a custom rom. I used sam moble to find the firmware but dont know which one i am going to download. Searching the APof the cureent firmware it corresponds to the t mobile variant (sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910T/TMB/) firmware. Can someone help me which i have to choose. Attached there is the the curent CSC.
Did anybody try to flash stock firmware? did it trip knox? I have seen different answers to this question so want to be sure. Another thing is the flash counter that will definitely change and that does void warranty if I'm not mistaken? thanks
Ok, I say this one and for all, I burned stock with Odin and it doesn't trip Knox flag on,it safe.

(Q) Rooting - Reverting to Stock

If I Root my sm-n910c And the Flash stock again. will I loose any thing else but Warranty void Knox 0x1?
Will everything else remain OK like Private mode and Knox?
Rooting issue is ONLY about VOIDING warranty, is that correct?
And, Can I flash a custom ROM without Rooting?
Like a stock deodexed ROM?

If you root you will lose KNOX and I am not sure about private mode.

Can I use knox again after rooting if I restored stock in Odin?

I'm now rooted + Xposed. I want to revert back to stock to get the N update later. I have downloaded my region firmware and will restore via Odin. Can I keep my data? I'm already using Stock rom.. Also will Knox capabilities work again after restore? My Knox counter is 0x01 but regardless, will My Knox app work again after stock restore? Thanks.

Yes. Restore stock to regain Knox functionality but Knox will be tripped forever.

Yes that's the answer I needed to know
I want the knox functionality back not the knox counter to 0. Actually the counter isn't important as Samsung idiots here in Egypt offer the worst warranty service ever so regardless about the knox counter I have to pay for any repair LOL Thanks!
