P9-lite bricked. Please help!! - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

SOLVED!
Hi all i just bricked my phone : P9-lite VNS-L31
I managed to unlock bootloader, install twrp and get root permission. Phone worked great. Then i tried to flash xposed and the operation fails due to not enough memory space (!! i have 6gb) and get stuck in bootloop. I made all the possible things i knowed. Tried to use xposed-unistaller.zip (getting other errors like: "no such file o direcory") , wipe cache, dalvik and data and i try also to reflash stock recovery, and to relock bootloader (i can't do that.. why? i get FAILED <remote: command not allowed>) because erecovery and HiSuite can't restore my phone. What can i do?? It's a simple bootloop but i cant restore it. Please help me i have just bought the phone and now i'm very desperate.
I really hope some can help,
Thank you

Can you flash the stock rom through SD card?
Copy the stock rom file to this path: sd card\dload\UPDATE.APP,
Then, presss Volume + , Volume -, and the power keys to force upgrade your phone.

Hi, i solved my problem flashing system.img extracted by an official firmware. Everything ok. If someone need it i can write a little guide now to restore bricked p9-lite with custom recovery and unlocked bootloader (the normal procedure does not work)

So, i think i can help you to fix your phone.
First of all you need fastboot. So check fastboot drivers on your pc and make sure they work
Now download the stock firmware for VNS-L31 here : http://www.androidvillaz.com/2016/0...vns-l31-to-marshmallow-6.0-b100-firmware.html - It's the only version ready to download and an asian version but flashing only system you'll not notice it. All languages available, no differences at all.
Download and install this tool : http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3262545
So using something like 7zip extract the UPDATE.APP file in your desktop for example.
Launch HuaweiUpdateExtractor and select the update.app.
You need to extract SYSTEM.IMG so right click on it and select extract selected.
Now, turn your p9lite in fastboot mode (power off, press vol - and power) and connect it to your pc.
Now launch this : "fastboot flash system "PATH/system.img" " . Remember to replace "PATH/system.img" with the path of your extracted system.img file including the name of the file.
Wait about 3 minutes.
When flash finalize, boot in recovery. Wipe cache and dalvik and reboot your smartphone. It should boot now.
If not, perform a full wipe. (cache, dalvik and data).
Hope this can help.

with pressing volume - and power i enter into erecovery from there i should use fastboot to flash system.img ? sorry for being dum
edit: when in erecovery (volume- and power) typing fastboot flash system with full path , does nothing .. only saying waiting for device
edit2: no matter what i do , i cant fastboot flash system .. waiting for device .. only thing i can do is enter TWRP (also got root) , enter Erecovery and thats it .. phone only boots to huawei animation along wiht sound and thats it .. i tried adb sideload from TWRP but no help also .. guess there is nothing i can do right ?
Edit3: so i booted via TWRP to bootloader , used that fastboot command , flashed system , wiped cache , and now it is looking that phone is booting up !
thanks bro , any way i can pay you back ? cus you da MVP here !
EDIT4: well phone booted , rebooted , and now i cant enter recovery it boots into erecovery and i cant do nothing else
EDIT5: got into fastboot menu in phone , it says update system again , Error Func NO : 10 (boot image) Error NO : 2 (load failed)
EDIT6: somehow made it into fastboot , somehow flashed recovery , managed to restore my phone from back up , but sadly enough i cant restore it via google , since when i try to log in it says waiting .. dam this phone . i had galaxy S .. got this huawei just for pokemon go (which is pretty ****ty without gyro) FML right
EDIT7: lost most of my hairs .. some of them were ripped out in some anger explosions .. chewed of some of my nails .. but somehow i made it ! now if i only could unroot and relock bootloader xD think im gonna take a break for now and when my nerves will calm down i may try it again . Rly wanna thank you from all of my heart for help , thanks !! your the best man , thanks again

Sorry, can you normally boot and use your phone now?
Edit: It seems you can boot. Now you have restored your twrp recovery. I don't know why you have problems with google log in, but hey now it boots!

Hi, if you don't know what is fastboot maybe you can approach it the easy way.
Download and install this for the correct drivers : http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/HiSuite_en/index.html
Download and extract to a folder this : https://mega.nz/#!B4tATA5D!-TseQ9A-TPEQhzNQRXsT_cV2i4T7qYYLadceW0fM8k0
Put your phone in fastboot mode : Turn it off. Connect it to your pc . Long press vol - and power until it boots in fastboot mode (white screen with a green android and other stuff). If you want you can boot in fastboot from TWRP recovery : restart -> bootloader.
Copy your extracted SYSTEM.IMG in the root path of the tool (we can assume its name is system.img).
Now launch the tool and press 000 and enter.
If you have done all right now you can give this : fastboot flash system system.img
Wait about 3 minutes. Perform a cache and dalvik cache wipe. Boot your phone.

Hi,
I am using the standard P9, and getting the Boot Loop also.
I attempted your instructions, and appeared to work - I got the first EMUI initialization screen - and now its gone back to how it was.
Any suggestions?

I think it should work on every phone assuming you are using the right firmware. Do you use the right firmware for the huawei P9 ?? (needless to say it's not the version i posted)).
So if you flashed the right firmware (and i'm pretty sure of this) my advice is to perform a full wipe : Cache, dalvik and data.
If you are still facing the same error consider flashing other frimware parts like boot.img ecc.

I believe so - I am pretty clueless with this stuff.
By firmware, do you mean the stock version? Because I used P9-EVAL09-EVA-B136. Don't suppose you would know the right firmware I require?

I think it's the right version. I am a p9lite user so i don't know specifically the right version of the firmware but i think it's ok. Do you tried a full wipe?

How can I perform a full wipe? Thanks for replying by the way

So, do you have unlocked bootloader and custom recovery (TWRP) ?

I do yes

So, go in twrp recovery (turn off phone, long press vol up and power for at least 3 seconds). When you are in you will see 'WIPE' press it then do the swipe to Factory Reset. You will lost your installed apps and the relative settings but you will not lost your personal stuff such photo, music documents ecc. Let me know if you perform it and if it works =)

It appears that TWRP no longer appears. I get thr EMUI options to wipe data/factory reset. But once I do this I just get a red exclamation mark.
Does the phone need to be plugged in via USB?

The method only applies to P8 and the author says it might not be applicable to Max as the recovery is P8.
However, just for the record
1. Unlock the bootloader
http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail
2. Fastbboot custom recovery *Need to create a TWRP recovery for the P8 Max
3. Root

Managed to root my phone.. even when I have updated the EMUI to B018, but there was an issue.. I tell you below
Step I follow from Chinese Forum below...
Preparation step :
1. download the tools from
https://www.mediafire.com/?9drsdo2f6hn4j34
2. Extract the content to your local. Note there are two folders :
- Folder 1 is for the tool that contains the TWRP recovery.img and the adb/fastboot tool,
- Folder 2 is for the original recovery
3. Copy the SuperSU zip to your phone (either in internal or external memory of your phone)
Installation step :
Step 0, unlock your bootloader (search around on how to do it)
1. Since I am using mac, somehow I don't need to install any driver, but if you using windows, install all the driver yourself
2. Enable the developer mode in your phone, and after that enable the usb debugging
3. Turn off your phone, and boot to fastboot (in off mode, connect the phone with your PC then press Volume Up and Power Button together)
4. Since now your phone has been connected to the PC, go to that Tool folder in respective of your OS, then overwrite the recovery with TWRP with fastboot command (install custom recovery) *note : for mac just add "./" in every command
- check the whether its connected : fastboot devices
- install TWRP : fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
5. Restart your phone and boot to recovery
- restart : fastboot reboot
- after reboot, turn off your phone
- reboot to recovery : turn on your phone by holding Volume Down with Power button
- Now you are at TWRP
6. Install SuperSU (root)
- Install SuperSU zip that has already been copied to your phone using TWRP (use the Install mode)
7. Reboot the phone
- Use reboot function in twrp
8. Profit
Theoritically the above things works but I have some issues following the above :
- After step 4, after recovery being flashed with TWRP seems like my phone Boot Partition is being overwritten too
- So when I rebooted the phone, it boot to TWRP instead
- So I tried to re-flashed the recovery with the original EMUI rom recovery (go to the folder "2.P8Max_Official_Recovery(For_restoration)" to find the original recovery.img). Also note that in the this folder, the adb and fastboot is only for mac. The one for windows use it in the tools
- This is done by going to fastboot again, then do command : fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
- This time using the original recovery
- Now when I rebooted the phone, it goes to EMUI recovery, then I just clicked restart to system or something
- After this, everything fixed, and I have SuperSU install and phone rooted
You can follow the above, but do it at your own risk, I am not responsible if your phone brick hehehe..

Instead of flashing the recovery to the phone you can just boot it one time. Just use fastboot boot recovery.img instead. This will load twrp and not flash it.

Speaker is damn good... but when playing games or watching movie, it is covered by the hand... so it would be better if the speaker is front facing..
otherwise it's good... but I do hate EMUI though... its making the experience sluggish...

The stock recovery when it's launched, it's in English, dun worry I have re-flashed it as I mentioned in the prev post..
Anyway the stock recovery is extracted from the current available ROM for P8 Max, which is in chinese. There is no international ROM available yet for this phone.

Root Huawei P8 Max 5.1.1
hi,
So, what is the real WORKING procedure to root our Huawei P8 Max with android version 5.1.1 ?
Thank you in advance for answering.

Flashed TWRP as boot.img / Now it only goes to recovery HELP ME!!!

Hi people...
Everything was going so smoothly... bootloader unlock... root... some nice root apps... free paid games... and my p8 lite was just feeling so good... until... I flashed twrp with flashify under the name of boot.img... Am I stupid or what?! Now I can only get 2 scenarios... when i turn on the phone it goes directly to twrp. In twrp i get the option to go the bootloader screen... If I choose system it goes back to twrp... I can't get it to start. I downloaded the official tar.gz from emui site but I dont know how can I install it. PLEASE HELP... What should I do in this case?! I miss my baby...
Thanks in advance

How do I do that?! If I wanted to wipe my phone completely and re-install the OS would be better to do it using twrp or stock recovery?
Thank you very much
Sorry, i misunderstood. If you flashed twrp as boot.img, reflash stock boot in fastboot mode.
flash stock boot.img in fastboot mode
and then flash twrp as recovery
will be like this
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
fastboot reboot
use the boot.img from stock rom and twrp image you downloaded
Oh no!
Now I made some serious **** to my baby... guess now i'll have to send it to huawei to fix it. I made a full wipe like if it was format c: in computers... everything is gone (i didnt had any personal data) it doesnt have OS even. But when I still had twrp i tried to flash boot.img and recovery.img and now when i start it goes directly to bootloader screen but saying "please update system again" and where it used to say phone unlocked it now says (in red letters):
Error!
Func NO: 10 (boot image)
Error NO: 2 (load failed!)
I was able to get to eRecovery with usb connected but when i choose to download e install the new version it gives me the message "wifi starting failed".
It also does not get any instuction with fastboot. but hi suite starts when I connect it. Strange?!
What do you think? Should I send it to huawei? Or is it possible for me to make it work again?
Also tried UPDATE.APP function and all give me fail message.
I'm going crazy!!!! But I love to mess around with android... To me this is the android essence. Fortunately I have a lumia for when my baby doesnt work.loooool
Thank you all
I don't understand why you don't use fastboot. Everybody told you to use it. In our phone situation, without custom kernel or rom, twrp is for experimentation and you cannot mix things.

Well, you warned me... but sometimes i do these kind of *****... So, in this situation you think it's better to send it or is there way to fix this.
By the way, when I enter huawei eRecovery and I get the option to download the firmware through wifi and it says wifi starting failed, is there any way to make this work? And to fastboot do we need to open cmd as administrator to make it work? Because if Hi suite detects the phone I should also be able to fastboot it right?
Thanks for your patience

Hi everyone!!
First of all, thanks to everybody who helped me with this situation.
I now am using my baby again as if it was new. I wiped him completely as i stated before and it was as easy as finding the right firmware (136a) and using the vol down + vol up + power button technique. I put the UPDATE.APP file inside a folder named dload in sdcard using other phone (with my p8 was impossible). After that rebooted the device, pressed those 3 buttons and the instalation started successfully.
I just cant explain how happy i was. I stayed 3 days without it.
After that I have been messing with fastboot so thanks to everyone who made me realize that i didnt need to do all of this, but well, A full wipe is always welcome.
Is there any custom kernel on the way for overclock my baby?
Please explain to me how do I put SOLVED in this thread as my problem is already solved...
Thanks

Yeah finally my phone is working now thanks to you I searched many treads and forums but i cant find a solution. But finally i got an easy solution Thank you again bro.. Good Luck !!!:good::good::good::good::good::good::good:
Just download your firmware version, use huawei extractor to extract boot.img,cust.img,recovery.img and system.img
After that, download mininal adb fastboot copy you files into fastboot folder , enter fastboot mode on your phone and from fastboot folder, open cmd and type these commands:
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
After this your phone will boot normally. Once you've done this, copy update.app to your sdcard or internal and install it by local update. Once you've done all this, your phone is fine.
May I know how do you wipe your internal storage? and what if after wiping, im unable to get into recovery mode? does it mean phone is not usable anymore?
SOLUTION
Hello. I'm the bigest mess on androids but i know that flashing stock recovery can remove any TWRP/CWR. If its too powerfull flash stock boot and run fastboot -w.(fastboot -w erases all PERSONAL data)
Guys Help me in this

After days of searching the internet i couldnt find any working solution. then i tried the local update without flashing al those .img's. ( didnt work )
Now after flashing al those .img's my phone works again but its a whole different phone. Only problem is when i try to update him with the update.app file it won't go any further then 5%.
If you know why this happens let me know

I flashed the c432 oem file, and I have tried to update to b151, b150 and b161 all through the update.app method. to no avail.
I have tried flashing everything manually through adb pushing AND fastboot after using the extractor and everything works EXCEPT the system.img. I am faced with an error telling me it has failed, 'unable to mount /system' - - - This message comes through regardless of what I do and im panicking

Yes, I noticed that from time to time, in bootloader mode, it is written unlocked, but as the device bootloop (bug) I believe it too. so
I retype systematically the bootloader code to open.

If you have your bootloader unlocked (if you don,t have it, unlock it) and flash TWRP. After that, flash B130 for your VNS-L31. Done.
Unlock yor Bootloader again. And try flashing again.
Have hade the same problem. My bootloader showed unlocked, but he was not.

Shut down your device. Press the switch off for 10 secounds.
When the phone is off, swith on and same time with vol + without usb-kabel, and otherwise try it with usb-kabel.
When you stock recovery starts. You can try a factoryreset.
When you Revolution recovery starts flash oem.info again and perform the dload methode with your right MM UPDATE.APP.

Really Stuck and Need Help ASAP!!! MLA-L03 Soft Brick

I'm stuck in an infinite eRecovery loop. No matter what I try or what I do I can't get the phone to boot back into the OS. Anyone have any tips or tricks? Huawei is going to do an rma for me but I'm flying out on business for 2 weeks and really need this phone with me. It's an MLA-L03 that is oem unlocked (which is what I'm thinking is causing me the most issues as I can't do the normal button presses to get to certain things but I can't relock it as it says it can't be trusted or whatever)
I did manage to get to a point where I have full access to /data/ but no matter what rom I try to flash it fails with failing to mount /cust/
If I put an update.app it will get to 5% and hang until it fails when I do the button press to force an update. I cannot get to the emui factory reset screen.
PS, yes I know I'm a dumbass, so be gentle lol. I'm really desperate and have nothing to lose at this point so will to try anything.
I did try everything here with no luck (other than getting full access to /data/ lol):

my bad hehehe...i wanted to say the twrp :silly:
Ok so you'll have to flash firmware with fastboot.
You need to download and install fastboot, firmware finder and huawei extract tool.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979 (fastboot), https://forum.xda-developers.com/tools/general/huawei-firmware-finder-team-mt-t3469146 (firmware finder), https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2433454 (huawei extract tool).
So install adb and fastboot, extract firmware finder and huawei extract tool. Open firmware finder hit common base, on model for find enter mla-l03 and download a full ota, form firmware you just downloaded extract update.app. Now open huawei extract tool and load your update.app you've just extracted and extract from there boot.img, recovery.img and system.img by using the right click (extract them on the same folder where is located fastboot, for example I got fastboot installed on local C/adb).
If you have twrp installed boot in fastboot mode by using twrp, if not you can boot in fastboot mode with the phone turned off by pressing volume - while plugging the usb cable.
Open cmd and write cd /adb (between cd and / is space) and hit enter than write fastboot flash boot BOOT.IMG and hit enter, fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.IMG and hit enter, fastboot flash system SYSTEM.IMG and hit enter, after finally writing the system write fastboot reboot and hit enter and wait till phone reboots.
Thanks, I've done all that already and it did not fix it but will try again once I get home.

Really?
I got my phone in the same state and was the only method witch helped me.
Did you successfully flashed boot, recovery and system and still not working? phone get stuck on the huawei logo? After you flash them, boot into recovery and do a factory reset and wipe cache.
yup, everything flashed successfully. I can't get into the recovery to do a factory reset. I have 4 options at my disposal:
1. fastboot
2. Huawei eRecovery
3. TWRP
4. force update where it always fails at 5%
I think the biggest thing that is screwing me is the fact that it's unlocked and I can't relock it. I'm almost 100% positive if I could relock it, I would have no issues with it.
And woh do you boot into twrp? Since you can boot into twrp you must be able to boot in stock recovery. Use huawei multi tool by black team too go into recovery.

Thanks I'll try that.
It's weird. I flash TWRP, do what I need to do, then reflash the recovery.img. However it just does a continuous loop to eRecovery when I do that unless I try to force it to update.
I'll try using the fastboot that you linked to and see if that makes a difference. Right now I'm using the minimal adb and fastboot install.
EDIT: Same result when trying to relock the bootloader--device cannot be trusted.
EDIT2: Do you have the cust.img file? None of the firmwares I've downloaded has it in it.

When your device reboots and you get to the warning screen about your device being unlocked, what buttons do you press to get into the normal (ie not eRecovery) recovery where you can do a factory reset? When I have TWRP installed, I have to hold volume + and volume - at the same time to go into TWRP. If I do the same thing after I reflash recovery.img, then it goes straight into the forced update which stalls and fails at 5%. Volume - reboots and goes back to fastboot. Volume + takes me to eRecovery. Doing nothing, the phone reboots and goes to eRocovery on the reboot. Holding down all 3 buttons also goes to the forced update screen.
I'm assuming that I'm missing something super simple and stupid so I'm going to go over everything again, step by step very carefully.

That just reboots me and then puts me in fastboot unfortunately. I'm going to try loading twrp and removing anything in /dload/ and see if it will boot to normal recovery. Last time I checked there was an update.app file there so maybe it's just bypassing recovery and trying to install that.

In fact it was only necessary tap on WIPE
and then SWIPE for factory reset as you can see in the attachments....
Wich firmware you putted in dload folder ??
What happen if you turn off and try to reboot holding vol+ and power button ??
If I reboot holding volume+ and power I get
EMUI
Reboot system now
Wipedata/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
And in dload folder I put full service update file.
I really did something wrong cause no matter how many times I try I still have incomplete firmware, not even keyboard

Dude why you done wipes instead of factory reset, these are two different things, very different...
You understand you erased all partitions and tried to recover by dload method
furthermore with a completely wrong firmware.
You were on VNS-L31C02B346 vodafone branded firmware
and tried to flash VNS-L31C185B384 unbranded nord african / middle east region firmware.
I can guarantee you that it would never work this way.
Now you f**k*d up your device.
Unbrick is not too difficult but you have to work hard,
and literally follow the guides i tell or suggest.
First thing be sure it's detected connecting to your PC and grant needed permissions.
Second, reboot to bootloader and see how Bootloader and FRP states are.
Report these basic info to proceed.
Will advice you my methods are based on personal experiences
and i cannot guarantee nothing, you assume all responsibility
of what are happening on your device, after all it is in your hands not in mine.
Good luck dude.

Ok, let's do the work...
With a PC create a folder on your desktop and rename as you want, may choose VNS-L31C02B346.
Download from official thread Huawei Recovery Updater v.04 and put into that folder.
Just add EliteTWRP 3.1.1-1 or whatever recovery you want ( must be for nougat/android 7 )
in order to keep custom recovery otherwise stock one will be flashed.
Now download these three .zip files
update (.zip)
update_data_full_public (.zip)
update_full_VNS-L11_vodafone_default (.zip)
on your PC and rename update_data_full_public to update_data_public
and update_full_VNS-L11_vodafone_default to update_all_hw.
Copy these renamed files into your folder together with Huawei Recovery Updater and EliteTWRP recovery.
Check that everything matches.

Hi
OK, you're ready to flash.
Copy your folder into SD card and reboot to recovery.
Tap install then find your folder, open it, tap on
HuRUpdater_0.4 then swipe for flashing.
Follow procedure into the flasher.
At the end it will reboot to system.
Probably at boot you will see some red lines, don't worry...
Press power button to skip and boot into system.
It should take many minutes, keep calm....
Do basic settings ( without any accounts ), enable developer options, then allow oem unlock and usb debugging.
Make sure your PC recognizes the phone ( let's HiSuite be installed ).
Turn off the device, connect it to your PC, and unlock again the bootloader...
Hope all will take right way and at the end
will have your latest working system ( VNS-L31C02B346 )
and EliteTWRP recovery ( if you added it in your folder )
