[update] G930TUVU3APG1 firmware available - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S7 Guides, News, & Discuss

It seems a new update is about to roll out. The build is BG1.
Maybe just a security patch containing update, but the thing is, the odin TAR is available already.

Have fun!

Was available for the s7, but not the edge for me.

When I click download I just get a blank folder with them name of the firmware. How can I get the actual firmware or am I doing something wrong?

I believe that sammobile uses .zip compression. I compressed the 5 files using .rar

Thanks! Do you feel like there's any performance/stability advantages to the PG1 update?

I rooted using a custom script someone made in the att thread. It fixed the cpu frequencie issues and adjusted each governor of the small and big clusters. So far so good with only minot hiccups once in a while. I haven't noticed much of a difference with the pg1 firmware if any. If you need help rooting check out the att forum or i can help when i get back home.

if we are already rooted on PD8, can we just flash this ontop of PD8 and retain root? What about user data?

I got this update on 2 S7's and on both of them, I now have cellular data issues. Wifi calling will keep giving me a notice that my phone is going to use wifi for calls when the feature is set to prefer Cellular for calls. Rebooting doesn't help, it will eventually say it again. I have to keep turning off wifi to force the message away. And during browsing on cellular, it drops a lot even though I know I have great coverage where I use it. With 2 phones, and only have this update, I think something is wrong with this firmware.
S7 (non-edge) not rooted.

I haven't had any issues, everything works fine. Here go down till you find generic galaxy s7 after root process and flash the zip he made via Flashfire. See if that helps. Did you factory reset after rooting btw?

I am not rooted. I just saw this Firmware thread and figured this was a good place to talk about my issue related to this firmware. I will update my previous post to show no rooting. All stock.

Oh, sorry, then I'm not sure what could be the issue, you could try clearing cache in recovery.

Does anyone know where to get the PG1.tar files and how to flash them VIA ODIN? I'm on a soft brick right now

Bit of an emergency and I'm on an old phone I can't find charger for but I need the .tar file for the firmware before this last update. I kept refusing the update and today I went to root finally and I'm stuck in boot loop with the engboot

A factory reset should fix it, this happened to me as well.

SM-T320 March 2015 Firmware Upgrade

I've just installed the latest firmware for the TabPro 8.4; KOT49H.T320XXUBOC1. Disappointingly, it's still 4.4.2 which makes me wonder if we'll ever see a L-pop upgrade. I've only been running it for a half-hour or so but can't notice any difference. I'll report back if there any major problems.

That firmware is just for the UK, which I believe went to NI1 last fall about a month before the U.S. went to NK1.
I don't know that I'd read a lot into it. If anything, they could be getting UK firmware better aligned with other locations for a smoother universal upgrade to 5.
Edit: Okay, looks like it's indeed out now for the U.S., too. Still hoping it's progress towards a Lollipop upgrade.
So does anyone actually know what changes this update brought? I was having some issues with my tab pro 8.4 missing touches, i 1st noticed it during gaming but was able to replicate it with display tester multitouch test.
It seems to be fine now, i thought for sure it was a hardware defect but now I'm not so sure. Anyone else in a similar position as me?
Hey there
I m downloading it, but not sure i will apply it .. does it makes root going byebye ? Wanna stay with my device rooted !

Rooted device? Able to root after update?
Thx
Just finished updating and was very disappointed that it's still 4.4.2, I didnt check this forum beforehand so was hoping for a nice surprise.
I hope we see official 5.0 for our devices...
Still. Nothing here! Will we ever get lollipop?

I'm in the process of trying to line up everything to do this. My update that pushed through took me to T320UEU1AOC1. I haven't located the extracted US kernel file for that and unfortunately don't know how to pull it from my current build. Sammobile has an AOC1 file noted as Cellular South and the build time is same date as mine but different timestamp. Anyone know if that would work to get me back to my current build and keep my US region?

Could you put the steps I need in order to what you did here?
I have the Romanian version of the updated ROM on a T325.
The biggest issue I have noticed is with the light sensor, with the previous ROM the auto setting worked smoothly, now with the new ROM the screen doesn't fade continuously. Whenever I turn on the screen the brightness just switches from a higher to a lower setting or inversely (without smooth fading and with lag), also the screen flickers horribly when it detects a change so I can't use the auto anymore.
The second issue is with the Samsung keyboard with learning disabled, in a Facebook floating chat window I tried to respond to someone and the keyboard would auto complete with empty words and after every word I had to delete the word before to be able to write the next word. I had to re-enable the learning to get rid of this very annoying problem.
I will try to downgrade to the previous ROM and root it with towelroot and say goodbye to any future official Samsung updates. Samsung has the ****tiest update developers, actually I had the same problem with the auto light setting (but not so serious) with the ROM which was before the good one.
By the way, if Lollipop comes DON'T UPGRADE. Lollipop on S5 sucks bigtime, the phone has major issues, android eats more battery than the screen.
Stick with the previous ROM, for me it was the most flawless one. I might try a cache wipe on the current ROM but I doubt it has anything to do with the screen flickering.

After losing root when I took the T320UEU1AOC1 update, I was able to flash the T320 kernel in this thread then use Towelroot again. I did have to reboot, even though it told me I wouldn't need to. I uninstalled and reinstalled SuperSU (hit cancel when I got the SuperSU notice about Knox) and verified root with Root Checker Basic. Then installed the AOC1 kernel. I still have root and Knox is not tripped. (KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0; KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x0)

Anyone know where I can get the latest G930P firmware G930PVPS4APJ2 ?

As of 10/26, Sprint rolled out the latest firmware for G930P (Galaxy S7), G930PVPS4APJ2. I have been searching everywhere since then and it has been 3 days without any luck. Since by mistake I loaded the G930U's API3 with the latest bootloader 4 and I am not able to downgrade to any of the older G930P firmwares. The worst part is that it also destroyed my factory SIM unlock. I want to go back to the G930P firmware and request to have it unlocked again. Someone please help. If this firmware is not yet available for downloading yet, any idea normally how long it takes from the day a firmware is rolled out until it is available on the web for downloading?
Thanks in advance for any help or info.
I'm glad someone posted this. I tried downgrading so I could root my S7 but it failed and now I'm assuming the only way to fix it is to flash stock firmware.

I can't even update to PH7. It downloads fine, but during the install part (blue screen/android dude) it constantly fails at 32%... I hate to have to flash with Odin, and re-setup my phone (apps, homescreen layout, etc.).
Does anyone know of a link to PH7 that has decent download speeds, like a torrent? Sammobile speeds are so slow.

Search for SamFirm. It's an executable you launch on Windows and search for the firmware for your model and region you need and download it. It's the quickest I have seen so far.
This... I also need. Stuck until I get it. Bahhhhhh I don't like the s7 after 4 days. Didn't realize these updates pushed new bootloader version. Trying to build a ROM here... Dafuq?!?!?! -.-"

Do i have to flash these files in a certain order? or all at once? And, do I use the HOME_CSC or the CSC file?
Edit: **** yeah! I flashed the BT, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC all at once in Odin v3.11.1 and it didn't wipe data, just updated my phone to PH7. I am now updating via OTA to PJ2.

You're supposed to flash all at once... Careful going to PJ2 though. bootloader version changes... And they haven't released flashable firmware for PJ2. I found a workaround flashing some U firmware (PI3) with new bootloader 4. Here's the link i went to. And i might add this is a worst case scenario. There's no going back due to the 7's locked bootloader. Of course this is only if you brick your current PJ2 somehow. Which i managed. Developers at work! Anyhow, wish you luck on PJ2, and i'll start development on it (depending on the nougat drop date) once i get a firmware release. Cheers!

The OTA update to PJ2 went fine, no problems. Currently running smooth. My initial issue was I was previously rooted, and decided to go back to stock. When I went back to stock I flashed the PG1 firmware but it wasn't from Sammobile. I downloaded all the firmware files separately from an XDA post that the root post linked too (big mistake). I then didn't flash them all at the same time, and I don't think I flashed the HOME_CSC file, just the CSC one. It went fine and everything but when PH7 dropped everytime I tried to OTA update to PH7 it would fail at 32% every time during the bluescreen/android guy screen. I'm not sure what's being checked at 32% to why it failed there, but my guess was that the files I flashed did something that was invalid and the updating process wouldn't continue becuase of a validation issue, probably from flashing just CSC file and not HOME_CSC file, just a guess.
After I flashed PH7, I was so happy my data wasn't wiped, and was also happy when PJ2 updated just fine. Though I was bummed, I thought PJ2 was the Nougat update...
You're a life-saver dude! And, thanks for the website you gave me to download the firmware, took like 15min to download a 2.5GB file, compared to 5 hours when downloading from Sammobile and other sites. Thanks a bunch!
I had an S2 and S5 for 2 years each before the S7 and damn were those easy to root and flash ROMs/Mods on. Damn locked bootloader! The one thing I think Samsung fcked up on with this phone. I should have waited for the Google Pixel... I'm with Sprint (obv) and re-newing my contract I get a discount off the phone, and having an unlimited data family plan, plus a discount on my bill for where I work made me stay and renew my contract with Sprint.
What exactly are you working on? A way to unlock the bootloader, an easy way to root (the current way is tedious and laggy), or a ROM? I'm interested.

Glad you got squared away... I'm not really working on much. Just going to Mod a Stock ROM again, to start. I'm probably not the guy who will figure out custom recovery on the phone. lol But I'm going to dive into some documentation on the topic, and get acquainted. That's a far reach, though. I just don't see a lot of support or development for this phone series. So I want to put some stuff out there. Maybe even slim down and automate the rooting process. (Think SkipSoft Android Toolkit)
I don't know. Any ideas or requests are always welcomed.

If you're on the latest (PJ2) stay right where your are. There's no going backwards from there with the release on bootloader 4. You need to wait out the PJ2 firmware release.

Root alternatives - backups, ad block, bloatware, etc.

Just got a new S7E and wanted root as I had on my Note 4 so I could run Titanium backup, adAway, etc. So, I rooted and have had nothing but problems. Laggy, play store would fail to run, hang on tmobile screen when rebooting, and VR complains about overheating after only 10 minutes or so. Had to flash back to stock and re-root twice already (in just a few weeks). Pain the in butt to keep setting it up after each failure.
I see on the forums that many said rooting it just wasn't worth it. I am tending to agree, so now looking for advice on how best to mimic root capabilities that I am loosing.
What can do my backups since I can't use Titanium Backup?
What is best ad blocker?
How do I disable all the TMobile crap/bloa?
What apps should I disable (and which shouldn't I touch)?
I use Nova launcher and that still works fine so I am good there, and guess I can I now try/use Samsung and Android Pay so am willing to give it a shot if I can find working alternatives.
Looking forward to your suggestions.
TIA,
Peedoe

How do I disable all the TMobile crap/bloa?
What apps should I disable (and which shouldn't I touch)?
I use Nova launcher and that still works fine so I am good there, and guess I can I now try/use Samsung and Android Pay so am willing to give it a shot if I can find working alternatives.
Looking forward to your suggestions.
TIA,
Peedoe

Well I don't know about you but I flashed the u firmware then rooted that and did the fixes (lspeed, sefix, set cpu governor to interactive) and the lag has went from a pain in the ass to minimal if any from my experience. And that's also with xposed installed.
With the PI3 U firmware I haven't had any lag at all, except for when it is plugged in charging. I also use the t-mobile PK1 modem. That's without any of the fixes listed in the above post.

By U firmware, do you mean the firmware for the 935U instead of for the 935T? Will that having any issues on TMobile? Also, you mention PK1 modem and other response mentioned several other fixes. How are all of those installed and where would I get them? Via ODIN as that is all I am familiar with? When you used the U firmware, did you flash all the modules or just the AP?
I just now noticed that my wi-fi calling option is missing now that I flashed just the AP from stock firmware so it would boot again (PK1 version for 935T). If I flash all modules from the stock, I have to completely re-setup my phone.
If I can reliably have root, I would still prefer root, but not with all the problems and if I have to stay stock, still looking for full backup as I have a multitude of app settings I don't want to have to redo if I can't restore from TB.

CP.
Ad blocking by disconnect (Google it for download) not perfect but not bad either. Also ad hell works too. Ad guard or ad clear work but seem to affect battery considerably more than the others.
Good Lock from galaxy app store gives some customization options. Still learning this app.
Nova launcher... My favorite.
Super swiftkey for keyboard (again my favorite)

I flashed all of U except CP where I used the T version APK1 file. However, I still seem to be missing the Wi-Fi calling settings/icon and my Wi-Fi and data icons are stacked whereas they were separate before. How do I get the Wi-Fi calling back? I used T Mobile versions for both sets of files.

if you are on the unreleased build, it's the same build AT&T released via OTA, you are on the official build.
Ok I heard that qa6 is the latest and I'm on qa4 will i still get future updates

Is this true? AT&T's OTA for the S7 (Flat) is the same version that I got from the unreleased 7.0 thread?
I bricked my phone trying to go back to PK1, AT&T is sending a warranty replacement but my Wife's phone has this update too. Had I known I wouldn't have even touched it!
So in other words I should be able to receive any future OTA updates right? I should just leave my wife's phone alone?
I appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Hi,
If you sideloaded QA4 (or any build) you must Odin back to APk1 and then you can take the att over the air update. Otherwise, it will always say that you are up to date when you check on your phone.
Read the posts in this discussion (although it is for S7 Edge)

OFFICIAL Nougat files for S7 Edge with February security build BQA6
If you have never updated other than using the att software update function on your phone then the Nougat 7.0 update should be available right now.

[OREO] Oreo Beta on ANY USA/Snapdragon S8/+! [04/10/18]

Hello all - the Oreo beta is now officially over for all devices and unofficial beta devices may need to be manually migrated to the release branch:
Note: Your device will receive OTAs after this update.
Note: Please use Updato or SamMobile to acquire the latest firmware for your device if you use AT&T or Verizon, or use XAA for a clean, unlocked experience.
1. Use SamFirm to acquire the latest Oreo build for your device (if not AT&T or Verizon).
Enter SM-G950U/SM-G955U/SM-G955U1 depending on your model.
Enter your desired carrier code, or XAA for unlocked (common are TMO, SPR)
Select Auto, Check CRC32, and Decrypt Automatically.
Click Download
2. Once the download is done, extract the archive.
3. Use the patched Odin 3.13.1 from @realbbb. This is necessary for carrier-switching, including to unlocked/debranded/XAA.
4. It is safe to use HOME_CSC to preserve your data, but if you're switching to an unlocked build or switching carriers, you MUST use CSC (data will wipe).
5. You can also use CSC to wipe your data and get a fresh factory start.
Previous post:
Howdy - here's how to get Oreo!
OLD PROCESS FOR BETA 1-2 IS BELOW - Move on to Beta 4 below!
Credit to @norbarb for the leaked update!
Try at your own risk - this is for the brave
First, read this:
Code:
Since we don't have a flashable CSC for the unlocked firmware, your phone will be branded with whichever SIM you have inserted.
This means your unlocked S8+ will become a TMO S8+, for example. It all depends on the inserted SIM.
This is compatible with G955U/U1 and G950U/U1.
Warning: Back up your data! Your phone will be reset.
Step 1: Be on the AQGL baseband. Skip the below steps if you're already there.
You can do this by downloading your AQGL package and ODIN below. Extract the ZIP, open ODIN, and connect your phone in download mode.
Then, select (from the ZIP you just extracted) BL, AP, CP, and CSC (NOT home csc) in their respective slots. Don't change any other options. Select Start.
After this is done, your device will boot into recovery.
Tip: If you're getting verification errors in ADB, you likely don't have the latest version installed.
NEXT!
Step 2: Flash the Oreo update package:
Download the Oreo update package below.
Connect your phone to your computer while it is in recovery.
You must have ADB installed. Open command prompt or terminal.
Sideload the package by typing "adb sideload XXXXXX".
You may see multiple errors/warnings. Ignore them.
DO NOT touch or unplug the device until it reboots on its OWN!
Last step
Open your device, and perform a factory data reset. This is mandatory.
New! - Update your Google Play Services to v940. Thanks @Dudash
Code:
As always, anything you from XDA is done at your own risk! There's a chance that someone got something wrong, and you could mess up your device! Please - if you want to be safer, wait until a bunch of people have tried a given ROM/procedure/tool before you try yourself!
There's a bit too much instability for the moment in the update schedule. Once the correct build is confirmed as Beta 4, I'll update the OP to the new method.
Thanks for sticking around, guys!

Hi all, here's the new process for beta build installation:
1. Install BQK5 (Nougat)
2. Install Oreo
That's all, and here's how:
[1.] Odin to BQK5. This will wipe your data. You must do this no matter what software you're currently on.
Select CSC_OYN, not HOME_CSC.
Important: This update contains bootloader 2, which means that you can no longer install any updates based on bootloader 1 (i.e., AQJC).
All new updates are based on B2, so you'll need to eventually do this anyway.

Update. Sideload didn't work. I got to go via apply from SD card. It is doing its thing now. Will let you know how it went.
Works like a charm. Excellent. Only thing I did different was apply via SD card. For some reason it wouldn't read it on my computer to push it adb. Said failed to read. So I installed it on a SD card and installed that way. It all checks out. All signed and certified.
Thank you for posting this but I have some noob's questions:
1) Will I still receive OTA updates?
2) What does changing the baseband does for me? Anything significant will change?
3) Can I go back to nougat if I want?
4) Upgrading to oreo like this shouldn't trip knox right? Because it official...

Question one, I checked for updates and it still says it can check for them. So I believe that is a yes.
2. Depends on your baseband you have and carrier. Aqgl is the lastest baseband for Sprint phones I know for sure. So the new one is the Oreo one being a completely different version.
3. Only way to revert is data reset. Wipe the whole phone and take it back to the way you got it.
4. Knox and all the stuff still works. Samsung pay and all that. So Knox doesn't get tripped.
I have found so far everything I use works fine or better than before. Substratum is working flawlessly along side samsung themes. I can't stand their keyboard so I ditched that. Camera is way better. Setting are more open with way more options. I don't see a downside. I turned off my other s8 that is rooted to use this as my daily driver.

1) While it appears to "check for updates", you will not get updates. We all will have to wait for a developer to load the next version files for us, again.
3) A factory reset WILL NOT REVERT YOU TO NOUGAT. You will need to download and flash via Odin the appropriate .zip file.

@dmezh,
Thanks for bringing this over from the AT&T thread. I've been on this for a couple of days now, an it has been flawless for me. Zero issues. It's my daily driver now.
And I want to emphasize to all users, the importance of your instructions regarding factory reset: on a major system update like this you have a big risk of system conflicts resulting in issues if you choose not to. It's a lot less work in the long run to just bite the bullet and do it now.
