SM-T331 double lock screen on calls, how to remove? - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my wife's SM-T331 shes gets a lock screen that appears when making a call. A double tap and swipe clears it for several seconds but then it returns. I've googled extensively and cannot find a fix for this.
Talkback is OFF.
There is talk of the proximity sensor possibly causing this but directed at the screen turning off rather than the lock screen. I have also failed to find any acces to the proximity sensor settinsgs.
Android 4.4.2
Any clues or extra info needed?

Has no one else come across this and found it annoying?

I still have my wife moaning about this rather odd feature.
Does anyone know of a fix?

screen not working during calls?

Hi, I have a T-mobile USA HD2 and when i make a call the screen no longer works. I cant press the anything on screen which means i can't delete voice mails. I have tried keeping the phone down so I don't activate the proximity sensor but the screen still does not work. Anyone having this problem as well?
Proximity Sensor... Display is blank, when something is in front of the sensor. This sensor located next to the light sensor
no, even when I don't activate the senor the screen does not work. I can see all the buttons and the picture of who I am calling. I try pressing them but nothing works.
You should have paied more attention to the several threads on this matter that have been published in these forums (that is, searching) but anyway, what usually causes this is enabling "Increase tap time" in BsBTweaks. If you have that one, unckeck that option.
thx worked. I did search but was unable to find anything about it

Disable proximity sensor while on a bluetooth call

I am unable to pull down the notification bar while on a call using my Bluetooth headset. When my finger gets near the top of the screen, it trips the proximity sensor and blanks the screen. I'm not sure if this is a design flaw or something that I can fix. There are MANY times that I want to use my phone while I am talking to someone and it seems stupid to me that I cannot interact with notifications while I'm on the phone. Anyone else experience this issue and/or have any suggestions? Thanks!
Swipe down starting at the htc logo or just to the right of the center. The proximity and light sensors are just left of center.
This works, just tried it.

No fix yet I'm afraid I'm sure the developers here will figure something out though...
Thanks so much for the information guys. Glad to see this has already been brought to Sprint's attention. Hopefully they will get a fix pushed out soon.

Disable proximity sensor? Driving me nuts...

I don't put my phone in my pocket and I hate the feature that the phone turns off when sensor is barely covered. I've done this many times with my hands or fingers and it's very annoying. Turns on, turns off 1 second later..
My phone is rooted and I'll edit anything to fix this problem. Anyone know how?
Many thanks
I am also looking for a solution to disable the proximity sensor.
This ROM solve the issue:

Keep screen locked when proximity

Hi all,
When my phone is in my pocket and I get a notification or sms, the screen powers up and since I have the simple swipe lock screen, it unlocks and f**s everything up.
I think it should be obvious not to power on the screen when the proximity sensor is blocked.
There are some apps in the Play Store or xposed modules (Gravitybox) that claim to have this or a similar option, but none seem to actually work.
Did anyone else experience this? Does someone have a solution?
only sms and battery notifications should wake your phone.
for sms, switch to Google's sms app.
battery notifications aren't very common in your pocket.
you could also look for an original samsung "flip wallet" cover.
the screen turns on automatically when you open it, and can't turn on when it's closed.
this also completely removes the need for a lockscreen.
I also have a tasker profile I could send you, but for your issue it would only work if you have a horizontal pouch/case.
edit: the reason those apps/modules don't work is because the sensor seems to constantly recalibrate/reset itself.
so if it's triggered a 2nd time in your pocket it will have recalibrated and think it's no longer in your pocket.

Thanks.
I've put on the new Messenger app from Google (apparently they have 2 sms apps now), and disabled the Samsung builtin one. I'll have to see if I get any accidental unlocks in the future.

Proximity sensor is always on

Today I noticed that the proximity sensor of my G6 (H870DS) was on while reading in google books. I found that odd so I tried other apps, the home screen and screen off (tried disabling the knock-on feature and have always on display disabled)... still emitting.
Also found this reddit thread with people experiencing the same issue. OP suggests that it came after the July OTA.
I didn't notice any issues, or battery drain, except that it is always on. Did anybody else notice this? Is there a way to turn it off?
I'm not comfortable with it emitting all the time, might damage over time. Thx!

it can happen when an app using the sensor and doesn't release it so it always scan and funtion. it can be phone app or a bug in firmware.
restart your phone and directly go to google book and check if this issue occurs or not.
:good:
Hey there, nope that's regrettably not the case. The proximity sensor starts emitting in the last stages of the boot process (LG logo animation is still on screen), so it's very likely not app related.
I am also experiencing the same issue. It also occurs when in Safe Mode. If you search reddit LG G6, you can see that several people have reported this issue. I've contacted LG and they know nothing about this issue. There must be a way to get a senior engineer at LG to look into this.
My proximity sensor always seems to be on. If I place a phone call and hold the phone next to my face and then remove the phone from my face, the screen does not turn back on. I have to use a BT headset to conduct phone calls.
