SM-A500FU can't be detected by a PC, booting into recovery boots the system. - Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, A9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hello,
I have installed a custom rom (Marshmallow) for my SM-A500FU through the adb. Now when I want to install a different rom I have to either boot into TWRP and I can't do that because booting into recovery simply restarts a phone, or I have to boot into Download mode and install it with the adb. The problem is that when the system is running, the phone simply charges, no Windows notifications or devices appear and when the phone is in Download mode Windows detects that a device is plugged in but can't recognize it. I have all the adb drivers, KIES and all that so it's not a problem. Can I somehow boot into TWRP or make Windows recognize my phone so I can use adb?
Thanks.

before installing a rom, have you wiped system, cache, dalvik and data? If yes try with a hard reset and if it doesn't work, too flash stock firmware

Hey,
yes, I wiped everything, I have flashed many roms earlier and I believe I have flashed it properly. I have managed to get into TWRP so I can actually flash FWs. I have only updated my rom to the newest CW13 build there is for my A5. Is there any way to flash a stock FW (for example a XEO KitKat) without ODIN? I can only use ADB through TCPIP and TWRP, so there is no way for me to flash it through ODIN.
Thanks.

so, if you press power+home+vol- it doesn't reboot in download mode, right?

It does boot into the Download mode. The problem is that when I plug the phone into my PC in Download mode it says that the USB Device is not recognized in Windows with 'A request for the USB device descriptor failed' error. When I plug it in when the phone is booted normally into android, it just charges, Windows doesn't see it at all.

Well, you can't flash samsung firmwares with twrp. Try flashing another rom through twrp

Alright, I have tried to flash multiple ROMs. Currently sitting on a Lollipop. Nothing changed, though. On every single ROM the problem still persists. It's not a problem with the PC as I've tried to connect my A5 to a laptop with freshly installed Windows and KIES and it behaved the same way as on my PC. The cable is fine as well, I have tested it with my old SGS3, it worked just fine on both my PC and laptop. Frankly, I have no idea what to do next, I'm starting to think that the port is physically broken. It's weird though, as I can still charge my phone and there is a response when the phone is in Download mode, just that Windows can't recognize it.

Try with adb command "adb reboot recovery" if it doesn't work you can downlaod odin mobile from play store and flash stock firmware!
Do you have odin for windows ?

Yes, ihlf his device can boot he can use mobile odin. Have you tried with other PCs, just to see it isn't a problem of your pc?

In my experience usb device descriptor errors are related to the specific PC the error occurs on due to device driver conflicts, but if you get the same error on another pc then it could be the hardware.
I'd certainly be trying another cable first on a fresh PC.
Anyway regardless of all that you can flash the stock firmware with FLASHFIRE available on play as long as you have root.

Do you have kies installed?
Firstly give some information about what Rom you are on
If you are on GB rom search for SGS USB driver. If you are on ICS rom search for Nexus USB driver. If you don't know which ROM was last install both drivers. You can find them on Samsung website. Or check my thread how I almost made a brick.
i have kies installed
and the rom is CM9
and what i need to install to try to get into recovery from the computer?
i have a windows 7 64 bit
you will need the nexus s usb drivers http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-install-nexus-s-windows-usb-drivers/
If you have lost recovery try flashing the semaphore .tar version in Odin, that usually fixes it
the drivers not helped....
i didnt get the usb not recognized message..
i am connecting the usb and nothing happend.
Make sure you r in usb storage mode,
I'll try to recollect the remedy:
-Uninstall or disable Kies.
-put phone in download mode.
-connect usb from phone direct to pc, Do NOT use unpowered usb hub.
-open windows device manager and update phone drivers browsing to folder of extracted Nexus S usb drivers.
-disconnect usb.
-restart pc.
-while pc boot up, ask yourself:
Why didn't I do research?
-start Odin
-load latest Semaphore_ICS_1.2.6.tar kernel in PHONE field. Uncheck repartition.
-put sgs in download mode.
-connect usb and flash.
Check cable. Go to other comp and look if there is response about installing driver.

[Q] Who can help provide a motorola official update.zip file?

My milestone 2 is completed bricked and can't be recognized by PC. But I can log in the official recovery screen. I have downloaded a update.zip file from a link (not sure if it is an official link, as I can't find it through Motorola website). It prompted "signature error" when installed. Not sure anyone can provide an update.zip file, so that I can try if I can save my Milestone2. Thanks in advance!
as long as you can enter the stock recovery. your device isn't bricked. did you try to do a full wipe in stock recovery? did you try to use another usb port in bootloader mode? sometimes you get a black screen in bootloader mode, but you pc recognizese your device very well. did you install all drivers on your pc?

1. I have tried full wipe, but didn't work. The machine reboot again and again;
2. I have tried another usb port, another PC and even another operating system (win7 and winXP), also didn't work.
3. I am sure I have installed the drivers, as PC can recognize my phone when it is OK before;
As I can only entered the official recovery screen, I think I can try if it worked when I update with an official update file. Anyway, thanks for your suggestions and reply!
hi,guy.i think you should do the curect usb driver for your pc recongnizing first. than choose a ringt bootlaoder offical ROM. curse your phone can login the rockrecovery screen means its ok! isn't?
I think the only way for you to get an update.zip is with another milestone 2 running froyo, that way you can update it via OTA, and before the phone reboots, take the update.zip from the /cache partition.

Team win recovery project mounting issues

As teh title says i am using v2.5.0.0 of this recovery rom for my samsung s4 device.
The issue is that i cannot mount my SD card whilst in recovery mode.
It never appears on my windows 8 machine when i connect my device in recovery mode.
I have all the usb drivers for my device installed and that is how i originally put a rom on it when i was running a stock rom.
Now that i did a wipe i obviously cannot mount my device on a normal running stock rom because its removed and i am trying to install a new one.
How can i access and transfer files whilst in recovery mode?
Do i need any additional drivers?
Still cant mount. i notice ond evide manager it says the drivers are missing for SAMSUNG_Android yet i have installed samsung kais!

Uninstall KIES and any other samsung usb installed utilities first.
Then download the official Samsung USB drivers for windows here: http://developer.samsung.com/board/download.do?bdId=0000000700&attachId=0000000001
After all the uninstalls are done reboot computer and install the official samsung usb drivers.
Once that's done reboot computer one more time and then your phone should and will
recognize your phone unless you have a bad cable or a non-functioning usb port in computer.
Good luck!

Can i install rom/stock firmware/custom recovery via my stock recovery(i9505)

Can i install any rom, recovery, with the help of stock recovery?
My device is not booting at all, it stock at galaxy s4 logo.
I can go to stock recovery & download mode
My pc & odin is not detecting my phone in download mode& recovery mode(I had changed about 10 data cables & 2 laptops windows 7,10 & all version of odin, I had tried installing every samsung drivers, kies, just every thing)
So plz help me out.
No, you can't.
And since your phone is not being detected, the only solution is to take it to a shop.
But if you can boot into odin or download mode then you have still a chance. Be sure you have a samsung driver to be able your computer and odin detect your phone
Is it possible the phone's USB port is damaged?

Uninstalled root, now stuck in a boot loop, and windows not recognizing s8.

Hello,
I rooted my s8 a few months back, and recently had no use for it, so decided to uninstall it.
I uninstalled root from Magisk Manager (I tapped the Uninstall button after opening the app), and it restarted my phone. That's when the boot loop started.
My phone kept on showing the Samsung logo, but I could open the TWRP recovery screen.
I tried to follow some steps and flash the stock firmware onto my Samsung, but windows refused to recognize my s8, telling me that the "USB device is not recognized". and that the "Last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned". So I'm basically screwed. I should also mention that I also have access to the Download screen.
Is there any way to send the firmware over to my phone without connecting it to my laptop?
Thanks!

A few things you could try :
In recovery :
wipe cache,/dalvik.
Reinstall magisk and see if it boots. If it does then flash the uninstaller through TWRP.
Factory reset
Flash full firmware with Odin.
With the error on windows I have had this issue because of the USB lead try a different one and make sure your Samsung drivers are up to date.

Hey!
I wiped the cache/dalvik and factory reset, but it still put my phone in boot loop.
As for reinstalling Magisk, I have no idea how to do that since I have no access to the Magisk zip and whenever I search in the Install section of the TWRP menu I cant find it either.
Also, my Samsung drivers are up to date, and I even bought myself a new data cable but windows still shows the error message, so I cant flash stock firmware using Odin.
What should I do?

To re-install magisk you will need a SD card. Put card into PC copy files ( magisk zip, magisk app and uninstaller ) from this link below then put the card back into the phone. Flash magisk zip in twrp or try the uninstaller zip.
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
As for the PC issue without seeing the pc it's a bit hard to diagnose.
Others things you could try;
Re-install latest Samsung drivers ( and reboot PC )
Make sure you are plugged directly into a USB 2 port on PC ( no USB hubs )
Try another USB lead ( I know you bought a new one )
Try another PC ( will need Samsung drivers )
Also since you have done a factory reset does TRWP still read you data partition ( a factory reset will re-encrypt your phone )
