SM-N910T partial downgrade from 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was able to downgrade from 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 on a SM-N910T. Kinda...
the phone had 5.1.1 N910TUVU2DOK2 and i downgraded to 4.4.4 N910T2TMB2AOG1.
N910T2TMB2AOG1 is 4.4.4 for a SM-N910T2 and I would like to get to 4.4.4 N910TUVU1ANIH for a SM-N910T.
Since I was able to downgrade to 4.4.4 I hope someone can figure out how to get over to 4.4.4 N910TUVU1ANIH.
Has anyone had any success in downgrading the SM-N910T to 4.4.4?

As far as EVERYONE with a N910T knows there is NO possible way at all to downgrade from DOK2. If you have achieved this bud you are the only single person that anyone knows who has...PLEASE sir provide screenshots and a full list of the steps you took... if you successfully managed to downgrade to T2 firmware we might can find a way to help you get over to a different firmware.
---------- Post added at 01:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:14 AM ----------
But what do you mean kinda???? If all your partitions are on 4.4.4 buddy you are fully downgraded....how did you come to flashing T2 firmware...what's the story?
---------- Post added at 01:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:16 AM ----------
I'm only so excited because I have been looking since I bought my phone for a method like your describing...you will be famous my friend if you have found this and can prove to others it's true....I don't mean that disrespectful....it's just thought to be impossible by even devs
---------- Post added at 01:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:18 AM ----------
BTW bro you should prolly post this on N910T forums also....probably get way more attention there

I successfully downgraded 3 SM-N910T phones today, but it will be Tuesday before I can post screenshots, get more details and do more experiments etc.
For now this is what I did.
1. I used Odin 3.11.1 to flash the OG1 rom
2. I used a N910T2TMB2AOG1 rom I captured from Kies a while back that has the BL,AP,CP and CSC files in it
3. I selected "nand erase all" and "phone bootloader update" in options
4. After a sucessful flash, I did a hard reset in recovery
5. I used the app "Phone INFO ★Samsung★" to verify the phone is on the 4.4.4 OG1 bootloader
Tuesday I will try downloading the OG1 rom from sammobile for the SM-N910T2 and flashing it without all the extra setting to see if I get the same results.
Then I will post on the 910T forums to see if I actually have a breakthrough and if someone can use this info to get to 4.4.4 ANIH.
I have been able to get from 5.0.1 to 4.4.4 ANIH with no problems but like everyone else 5.1.1 to 4.4.4 seems to be impossible.

So to start with you were on DOK2 right? And now your phone is on T2 4.4.4 firmware? I have a N910T on DOK2. Well 6.0.1 now but I can downgrade back and I can download the FW and try it...if you can send me a link to the FW that you downgraded to and a link to the firmware that you want to be on I will see if I can get some of my way more tech savvy friends to help me check out the files to see if we can figure out how to get you to where u wanna be...where you get your phone and how old is it...and when you can send screenshots take one of the back under the battery and of your stock recovery if your on stock...

Sorry it has taken so long to respond but here are the steps I took to get down to 4.4.4.
(Warning!!!! I am not responsible if you damage your phone following these instructions.)

The SM-N910T was on Android Version 5.1.1 build number N910TUVU2DOK2.
I used the 4.4.4 firmware N910T2UVU2AOG1 for the SM-N910T2 downloaded from SamMobile.com.
I flashed the N910T2UVU2AOG1 firmware through Odin 3.11.
The Note 4 will boot loop after the downgrade so you will have to boot into recovery after the downgrade, then wipe cache and wipe data/factory reset.
Remember that this will only get you to 4.4.4 for the SM-N910T2. I would like to get to 4.4.4 for the SM-N910T if someone smarter than me knows how to do it.

Have you tried flashing the ANK firmware?

Sammobile also shows 4.4.4 firmwares ANIH and ANJ7 for the N910T. Did those also fail downgrade attempts from 6.0.1?
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk

Yes they failed.
That's why I tried the 4.4.4 firmware for the SM-N910T2. It was the only firmware that would downgrade.

I have tried to downgrade to ANJ7, ANK4, and ANIH with no success. AOG1 is the only one I have been able to downgrade successfully.
A side note, I can upgrade back to DOK2 and then downgrade back to AOG1 with no problem.
So it seems that the Note 4 bootloader is not exactly locked because it can be downgraded to 4.4.4 on at least one version of the firmware. What this leads me to believe is that these must be a database or whitelist in the bootloader code that allows for downgrade to 4.4.4 if the version is on the approved list. Or maybe it's a blacklist with ANJ7, ANK4 and ANIH on it that causes Odin to fail. I have not tried to decompile the bootloader to verify, so I am just speculating at this point.

Not sure, I haven't really tested it since I am trying to get to ANIH. I know that it boots up fine and I can access the settings and install software. I haven't seen any force closes but I haven't tested it thoroughly.

Why do you want ANIH specificly....? There is a reason I'm asking...your answer will help me try to figure out a way for you to get there..

I want to use a rom that is based on the ANIH build.

Do you know how to edit firmware tars
---------- Post added at 09:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:08 PM ----------
That's why I asked why you wanted to be on ANIH...you can possibly extract the tar and remove the BL...then you are left with a ANIH phone that has a different BL of the same build...but have you tried the rom you want on the T2 FW...? It might run perfect....it's like installing a N910F rom on N910T...all you really need is the BL and Modem that is compatible with our phone... T and T2 are the same as far as hardware from what I can find....

After downgrading to the 910T2 4.4.4 stock, were you able to install recovery and any of the 910T 4.4.4 custom ROMs? ie FireKat? Were you still unable to Odin any of the T-Mobile 4.4.4 from your Rent-A-Center T2 4.4.4?

did you try ODIN re partition with PIT File for 910T , along with ANIH stock rom 4.4.4 ?

I've done the said method of downgrading to 444 N910T2 OG1 firmware from 601.
This is the closest you can get to NIH and all the other original 444 firmwares for N910T. You won't be able to flash stock n910t 444 rom from this one, though.
The positive side of it is that this OG1 firmware for N910T2 is fully functional with no TMO bloats. So it's almost like a dream 444 stock firmware.
Again: fully functional 444 daily driver with good battery life and no tmo bloats. You can flash Root, it works as well. If you love 444 just flash this over your 511 or 601, erase data and cache. Start fresh. Then, enjoy the benefits.
Loving my Note 4 even more now.

Flash Latest Modem Only on N9005

Did a search and couldn't retrieve anything useful.
Guys,
Is there way to flash the latest ND3 Modem only on my 4.4.2 SM-N9005?
I'm currently on 4.4.2 NC2.

If nc2 works fine for you just keep it. I came from...I think na1(never updated modem and haven't had any issues) to ne3 which didn't work for me and settled on nc2 myself. If you like to flash(it's your phone and therefore your risk) try omega pro or anywhere else you find the modem and flash in Odin. I assume you're rooted. Little hint: keep other modems(especially nc2) on your PC cause I didn't and it was a drag to get them with a none working phone.

You could just grab the MODEM.BIN and NON-HLOS.BIN from the firmware, and flash it at CP or PHONE with ODIN (modem.bin first, then follow by non-hlos.bin).
if 1st try fail, do 2nd time.
Make sure you power off first before you use the 3 combo to get into download mode.

Agree you can just keep your existing modem if it works fine for you.
modem, normally I update only from firmware of my own region.
BTW, to upgrade modem no need to have a rooted device. It only need modem.bin + non-hlos.bin + PC ODIN.
If you have root permission you can flash with the dd command
Thanks a lot for the support guys, I've done it through odin. Didn't solve my original problem, But WIFI connectivity was improved!
Gps issue, please help...
Hi all.
First of all, sorry for my English.
I need a big help. I have a sm-n9005 Galaxy Note 3. After flashing a rom I lost GPS signal. I do not have at all.
I tried different roms, but still nothing. Any idea? Did I killed my GPS receiver somehow during flashing rom???
Many thanks...

[Q] Accidentally flashed verizon galaxy s5 to SM-G900A when i went to the OA8 build.

I have been fan and user of this website and its forums for several years now and up to this time have always been very diligent about searching for the answers to my questions in the forums. I have always been impressed that i never had a question that had not been answered until today.. I found nothing on XDA nor the rest of the internet so here is my quere.. I Accidentally flashed my verizon galaxy s5 to SM-G900A when i went to the OA8 build. The funny thing is that it appears to have worked for the most part. It started up pre-loaded with all the at&t bloatware installed and everything! My phone now says SAMSUNG SM-G900A under model name and number..It gives G900VVRU1BOA8 as the baseband version and KTU84P.G900AUCU2AOA1 as the build number..It appears that I am on Lollipop, however, it says I have android version 4.4.4. All of that considered, my question is regarding taking the OC4 update through Flashfire. It clearly states that using it on any other variant could result in a hardbrick..Do you think it will hard brick my phone?
First of all what is flash fire? Second I would not take that chance.... But have you thought about restoring your phone through odin?
On a developers standpoint you'll have to do more than that hardbricking your phone. Or should I say the only ways to hardbrick your s5 is
1. Destroy some of its hardware
2. Rewrite/delete some of it's irreplaceable data.
And flashing different ROMs doesn't result to 1 of the 2 and you'll either just get a softbrick, buggy ROM or a working device.
There are only 3 versions of s5 in general
1. The snapdragon version
2. Exynos version
3. Sprint version
And subversions which are
1. 16GB model
2. 32GB model
cross flashing the exynos version to snapdragon and the other way around would surely lead to soft brick as the processor drivers, GPU drivers etc differ.
cross flashing between 16gb and 32gb variant would probably end up softbrick or buggy device since partition tables are different.
cross flashing sprint version and regular version would probably get your the same working device and probably get a FM radio enabled.
cross flashing different model numbers would end up having a working device since there's literally no difference in the hardware. As long as you crossflash the bootloader, modem etc then it should be fine. But if you're cross flashing the system partition only then that's something different.
---------- Post added at 12:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:59 AM ----------
Almost forgot! THere's also the dual sim variants
I don't know if @Riyal gave you the info you need... but if not you better get odin and flash back to a Verizon rom
I didn't answer his question though... Just explaining in detail what happened/will happen when he/she cross flashed firmwares. I don't know what flashfire is so I couldn't answer his question. But as you said... flashing OC4 update thru odin is the surefire way to go.
@austocracy you read that get a copy of odin 3.09 and a copy of your s5 verizon firmware sammobile and have at it. The cure is within reach.... make sure you find some instructions first
Flash fire is basically mobile Odin and something else I can't remember I'll find the link for you I heard there's basically no need for Odin anymore because of it

S5 G901F - flashed official FW, doesn't boot

Hi, I had this phone, G901F on which someone flashed a Vodafone Germany FW, but the phone is from Orange Romania so at first I simply wanted to flash its according FW, but turns out Orange Romania only has 4.4.4 so I found the Nordic FW with 5.0.2
I flashed it, phone booted normally afterwords and it was doing the Android is Upgrading process at which I turned it off to reset it from Recovery. So after that it wouldn't boot anymore, after the Samsung logo the notification LED stays on with a blue color and it doesn't do anything, I left it on like that for more than 10 minutes.
I did reflash the FW through Odin again and it still does that. At the moment I'm downloading Germany Vodafone 5.0.2 just to hopefully get it working again but I don't wish to have bloat on it. Would getting the 4.4.4 FW be alright? Would it work afterwords? I imagine that I'll get 5.0.2 through OTA.
Thanks for reading.
Orange ro does have a 5.0.2 Rom. Search on sammobile for it. There's a dedicated thread for s5 plus http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...s5-gs-g901f-user-thread-t2906438?goto=newpost

I want to make it stock, the device has warranty papers and everything, so I don't want to mess with it. I have had Samsung phones in the past and I was always able to flash them with stock firmware from sammobile without issues. This however, seems to have problems. The Nordic rom doesn't want to boot at all and I downloaded the RO Vodafone 5.0.2 ROM and it does boot, but doesn't get past the "Android is upgrading" message at startup, it shuts off in the process and then can't turn on without me removing the battery. I did reset it from recovery so I guess I'll just try 4.4.4 Orange and see where that takes me, I was asking if I can do that because I'm not really sure I can downgrade.
Thanks for your answers.
LE. I tried the Orange 4.4.4 FW and it still doesn't boot.
I looked the phone after IMEI and ended up with this result on the website imei.info:
G906S Galaxy S5 LTE-A (SM-G901F)
So I'm kinda confused, since none of the 3 roms that I downloaded for the G901F model didn't work, should I try and download the FW for G906S? It doesn't make sense, everywhere on the phone it says it's G901F: On the sticker beneath the battery, in download mode.. it used to say it in device information too.
There IS a Orange rom for s5 plus, as I previously told you!!

The phone is stuck at boot because you really placed the 4.4 bootloader with a 5 one. You will have to write a 502 Rom or ro download a 4.4.2 rom but with repartition and pit.

Well the thing is that I tried the 4.4 Rom only after the 5.0 ones failed. So not even that is working.
So flashing the 4.4.4 Rom and ticking repartition and pit is a good ideea? I always saw that you're advised to make sure their unchecked

You always stuck in bootloop if u install from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 if u flash from 5.0.2 to 4.4.4 your phone will stuck im bootloop after u flashed with pit 4.4.4 if phone stuck on boot just add pit file and click start in odin. Phone will boot
I was initially on a 5.0.2 ROM and I tried flashing a 5.0.2 ROM which put me in a boot loop. The 4.4.4 ROM was the last one I tried after 3 different 5.0.2 ROMs, so there was no rewriting of the bootloader to begin with. But where do I get the pit file? Do I extract it from the ROM file? Or it does it on it's own?

The phone is stuck at boot because you really placed the 4.4 bootloader with a 5 one. You will have to write a 502 Rom or ro download a 4.4.2 rom but with repartition and pit.

[TUTORIAL][GUIDE]T-Mobile Downgrade from PE3 Marshmallow to NK3 KitKat

You can't Odin to NK3 from MM PE3, so in order to do this you've gotta Odin downgrade to LP COK2 and THEN flash recovery flash the selected KK rom of choice and then whatever KK kernel ya can find that ya like, I've found that LLFK is still active and alive. You might also wanna Odin flash the KK modem too for better GPS location.
Samsung made it or tried to make it irreversible ever since COK2, it's impossible to Odin back down to NK3 KK, so you have to flash a rom, kernel and modem for matching baseband.
1st: Odin COK2 Firmware LP 5.1.1: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24545065934258546
2nd: Odin Your Desired Custom Recovery
3rd: Flash Desired KitKat Rom of Your Choosing
4th: Flash KitKat Low Lying Fruit Kernel N915T: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/kernel-allows-selinuxpermissive-n915t-t3017469
5th: Odin KitKat NK3 N915T Modem: http://www.mediafire.com/download/s3l46lx7dfs26on/modem.tar.md5
Trust me I played around for a day and a half until I discovered it was possible to boot a KK rom off of COK2 and messing with Odin too, just a warning if ya don't flash a kernel you won't have working WiFi at all. Can't even Odin to LP 5.0.1.
I tried 3 times, regular flashing once, no kernel or modem, WiFi toggles would stick and just freeze as if they hadn't been touched and switched on, another time with the kitkat modem Odin flashed after installing the KK rom, again no response to the WiFi toggles no sign of WiFi connectivity, GPS location was better than no old KK modem and faster at picking up a location and then I flashed a kernel and suddenly everything was working as it should.

So does it allow you to go back to 5.1.1 from 6.0.1 by just flashing 5.1.1 In Odin with everything working?
Yes you can, no I couldn't go any further back than COK2 5.1.1 Odin firmware everything working fresh like new out the box, any earlier Odin firmware attempts ended in the fail error everyone is posting about, tried with BOD7 5.0.1 Odin firmware and got the same error as KK firmware.
TL;DR Simplicity - COK2 LP 5.1.1 is the earliest you can back to in Odin, I think COK2 locked the previous version firmwares bootloader, trying to make downgrading to Original KK firmware irreversible.

Cool, I just want to go to 5.1.1 maybe to check out some of those roms. I'm using tekhd 6.0.1 deodex and saw some interesting 5.1.1 roms I might want to try as I just received a note edge after trading in my note 4 for a broken camera that didn't focus so I'm ready to start roming this bad boy. But a simple Odin back to 5.1.1 and I'm good to go sounds great. I was hesitant to update to 6.0.1 as I thought I wouldnt be able to go back but did the update anyway. Thanks for the response. I'll try in a few days after playing around with 6.0 for a few days.
In theory you could probably go down to LP 5.1.1 just by flashing a LP rom and a LP kernel, I don't see why the same method wouldn't work for that. So before ya Odin get a good LP kernel and LP rom and try that out, I seen someone say to do that to LP for KK and that's what made me try and find out.

True, but I'll want to have a clean install for any rom I use on 5.1.1 just in case. Thanks again, team work makes the dream work.....of being a flashaholic. Lol
Do you have to be rooted for this to work? Honestly I just want to root my phone, but it seems like you can't root MM if you're on T-mo. I figured downgrading was my only option.
This thread should be a sticky
I can't seem to find any Kitkat kernels and LLFK dropbox links won't load for me. Anyone know where to get kitkat kernels?
EDIT: Seems it was a problem with my computer. Got it to load on my phone. But the Mediafire link also seems broken with a captcha that won't load properly. I'll see how it goes without it.
@MikeChannon Should this be stickied? @Zuffle I'll see if I can find a mirror or if db works me then make one myself.

Well a couple of things. Tutorials normally go in the device General forum so they don't get lost in a sea of question threads, but the decision about whether it should be a sticky or not I normally leave to the Forum Moderators who are a bit more in touch with what's happening in the forum and know better what should be stickied.
So let's summon the Mods for this device: @Whiskey103 @Jonny @Razvan @Bajanman @sawdoctor @TEKHD @The Merovingian @mark manning

lazy see,lazy do... .....:silly:
Theoretically this could be done for any version of the note edge, just remember to rollback and odin flash the matching version of 5.1.1 for your edge and then get the modem for it if possible and the kitkat rom of your choice, as well as root and twrp. But I believe and don't see why this side-step method wouldn't work for other versions of the edge and I imagine they (Sammy) locked the bootloader on all versions of 5.1.1, which is what people are getting hung up on in odin trying to flash 5.0.1 and 4.4.4
It's just the US models that Samsung locked the bootloader. I don't know about the Korean models but the other international models you can downgrade to any firmware of your choice.

galaxy j500h 5.1.1 downgrade problem

okay so i have this lil problem on my galaxy j5
a few months ago ive found this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j5/how-to/tutorial-upgrade-j5-2015-to-6-0-t3443904 so i tried to upgrade my phone to android 6.0.1(firmware: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=D2F21816700B11E69B2DFA163EE8F90B) and it works perfectly fine tho
but im trying to downgrade to 5.1.1 coz i cant install any custom mods and kernels so i tried to flash a android 5.1.1 firmware(http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=F33B6BD4400411E6815B0CC47A44B7B2) which it gave me bootloops
i tried to re-flash it to android 6.0.1 firmware i recently downloaded. it works and it starts up ok but it says that the system is not running and it should be factory reset--something like that. so ive factory reset my phone and again..it gave me bootloops
fortunately ive recently did some twrp backup and good thing it worked fine. but the problem is that the recovery didnt backup my phone password(which im stucked rn bcoz i cant type my main phone password)
im preety stuck here and if i factory reset again it still gives me bootloops
pls bear with me if you dont really understand my problem(im not that fluent in english)

I dont own that device, but i thing this would work:
Flash latest 6.0 firmware with samsung smart swich (PC), enable oem unlock in settings, flash twrp for 6.0 with latest odin, do a factory reset and a full wipe (except external sd an android secure). Then download latest 5.1 firmware for your device an flash it with odin (it will take some time).

Hai bro,,,
u try this one after flashing offical firmware simply reboot your device into recovery mode by pressing Power + Home + Volume UP and do a wipe data/factory reset, and wipe cache partitions then reboot your device, it will start properly and all problems are now solved,,,,,

With the J500H, Samsung decided to lock the bootloader, meaning you can't downgrade. J500h seems to be the only locked device. Unless someone finds a way to unlock the bootloader then you are stuck on 6.0.1.

u can show me. how to flash with odin (
Firmware downgrade Samsung J500H from MarshMallow with the second loader to LP.
Those who are faced with the inability to roll back to version 5.1.1 are uncomfortable with using their phone.
We need to either use the Philippine firmware or install a custom firmware Belousova.
I found an acceptable way to flash my phone with a stock firmware.
For rollback, we need a four-file stock firmware J500HXXU1APA5 or J500HXXS1APE1.
File BL with the second loader BL_J500HXXU1APA5_CL958143_QB8363487_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar or BL_J500HXXS1APE1_CL1011281_QB9453563_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar .
Odin.exe.
Please note: these files for the regions: CAC, CAU, SEK, SER, SKZ.
In other regions, wi-fi or a radio module may not work.
For other regions, you need another file for a specific firmware.
If you need another region, write me the name of your firmware.
The process of the firmware I will not describe, it is well known.
You can see video here.

First update to MM have the some botloader like LP. But next update have other bootloader and you can't boot LP with odin to your telephon.
10:32 And some more - Philippines firmware LP 5.1.1 have second bootloader. You can downgrade from last update MM to LP 5.1.1 very easy.

I found how I can help for you.
You may download firmware from here :"goo.gl/Yk1Byz" and unzip and flash in odin this firmware.
Then if some hardware not working you may download firmware for your region from here:"goo.gl/SdcwhA"
and unzip repeat the flash with odin but with one file firmware.
And If you don't update your telephon to MM you can flash telephon using only this stock firmware. Save it. First file you can delete.
I am sorry - in first step you may set BL for APE1 file from my blog . It have second bootloader for firmware.
