Purchased the Xperia X F5121, the battery life is horrible! - Sony Xperia X Guides, News, & Discussion

This thing gets to 95% with no use in under an hour! Are you guys noticing this also? What have you done to mediate or is that how it is?

Try draining the phone and let it power off automatically, and then fully recharge it with a normal charger, do not use a quick charger.

it's kinda weird but try to reinstall google play store (disabling google play store can make bigger wow-effect in my old E1 and ARC S with disabled store I had 13 DAYS !!! of only phone and text usage)

Is this some random test you did or is this recommended elsewhere on the forum or some other site you have found and hopefully can post a link to?

I did my own ...I'll try to find some photos for U

I would suggest you take out the battery but meh.. Turn it off and set plug it in the AC adapter. Then open it. Theoretically when on the adapter it should (maby?) bypass the battery.

That won't help, the 10.1 doesn't have a user removable battery (not many have that option, maybe some Chinese knockoff ones do, I don't know =\ ).
OP are you on stock? Or custom ROM. If you're rooted charge the device to full capacity (when it says 100% and then an hour more) and calibrate the battery, it helps sometimes
Broken beyond repair
Post or look at this. It'll tell you what's eating your battery.
Go onto task manager and see what is running. Kill all then close it down and let it sit for a good half hour or so and then open it again to see if any apps are running again via task manager. Once you identify the app kill it by going into app setting and stopping it, then clear cach (and data IF you need to) and see if it behaves itself. IF it doesn't uninstall.
The majority of battery issues are caused by rogue/vampire apps running away in the background. A product of bad coding by the dev.
I had a massive and weird problem, battery dropping fast and tablet heating up badly.
Turned out it was the built in download app!
Weird because I already had this app disabled in app manager, but there it was running wild anyway.
Ti backup force uninstall sorted
Hope this helps someone...

wierd nexus 4 battery

the battery in my nexus 4 started today to drop from 20% to 13% and 7% and then to nothing in no time, like couple of minutes of use,
the wierd part is that its alsot chragin from 0 to 17% in less then 10 minutes!, whats wrong ? im using battery guru and the main drain is "voice calls" with 51 minutes (i really dont think i talk that much !) and then screen with less then 2 hours!
what can i do to check that?
Try charging your phone fully to 100% and see if it still happens.
Sent from my Nexus 4
Battery still wierd ! :
some pics:
after 24 hours of device without charge (only 35 min of screen time, very little use !!! ) only 7 % !!

Download and install the app BetterBatteryStats, its on XDA.

The one is the XDA version, which is free, and the other one is the playstore version, which you have to pay for.
There is no real difference between the two, that i know of. Though, i've only been using the XDA version.

Battery level indicator bug
I faced another weird issue while charging.
Within a minute of plugging my phone to the charger, the battery level indicator changed from 20% to 100%.
I had to restart my phone to reset it back to the actual status.
Anyone else came across this while charging??
Not to be rude, but if you guys would search about this, you will find that there are tons of posts like this all over the Q&A section..

If your screen isn't turning off then you have a wakelock, and as for your battery, you play games, browse the web, talk on the phone, and have location services running, along with what looks like some background processes. With all that you still get 2 hours SOT, which is actually good.
Cut back on useless apps, and gimmicks, turn off location services, and maybe play less games, then you can push that SOT up to 3 hours.. maybe.
So nothing wrong with my battery ?
what should i turn off?
i prefer not to turn of location services in case of losing the phone or such

send it back to google and get a replacement. same thing happened to my first nexus 4.. i had it replaced under warranty.
Also seems that you dont have good network coverage, since you're getting the msm hsic wakelock.
Try switching to 2G when you dont use your phone to connect to the internet, or when you got a wifi signal.

Google Services/Google Play Service/Google Framework Services draining battery

Bear with me. If you are an expert on android maybe you can help me out here. First off, I have researched the crap out of this problem and still been unable to fix it, so YES, I did search before making this thread.
I am on a stock, rooted Verizon Galaxy S4. I have been watching my battery consumption carefully via the integrated battery settings menu, battery stats plus and wakelock detector apps. Mainly, there is a program or set of programs that typically is called "Google Services" that according to the integrated battery menu is consuming anywhere between 20-45% of my battery, sometimes more than the screen on time! My battery life is around 48hrs with 10hrs screen time but that is on the massive zerolemon 7500mah battery which I just bought, so I am not sure if that is above, below or just average (i.e. I have no real standard by which to judge).
Like I said I have read probably every thread about this problem with remedies such as; disable location, turn off google now, turn off google maps reporting, uninstall updates for google play/google play services/google framework settings, turn off google sync etc. I have tried them ALL, none seem to work. I have a feeling the issue is perhaps more in depth and above my head.
It gets more complicated. Although the stock android integrated battery menu reports it as using a massive amount of battery, the other two apps I mentioned above do not even report it, or at least not under a name that I regonize (perhaps that categorize it under a different process?). Under them screen time is by far the highest consumer.
So what to make of this? Is it a false report that the stock integrated android battery menu is reporting, and thus something to disregard? I doubt that because there are many other threads out there of people with the same problem and questions I have. But It's also not like my battery drains within hours. For instance, today I have been off the charge for 12.5hrs, with 3hrs and 40min of screen time and have 63% remaining on the 7500mah zerolemon extended battery.
If you can help, please do. If this is indeed a major drain I would really like to fix it.

Yes that seems to work, but it's not really a "fix" as now I cannot use the location feature of many of my apps. Basically traded one problem for another, albeit lesser one.
I'm still trying to figure it out as since last update (MEA firmware) , my phone is heating a lot.
I had this problem with data connection on, I had this problem in airplane mode, but not strangely with having connection to wifi.
I also observed that google services and android system is consuming most of the battery. earlier when I used to get 8-10% consumption in full use in an hour, now, 8-10 % is consumed within 30 mins.
No tweaks are working. Frozen a bunch of apps but the problem is still there.
Just now I've uninstalled fileexpert HD , as "greenify" told me that since last 20 minutes my phone is on, it has taken 250+ wake locks.
I'm charging my battery to full to check if that solves my problem.
will try to disable location services and report back on the results.
Bump
Have the exact same problem, before the latest firmware my phone had awesome battery life, and now the battery goes from 40% to zero in just a few hours without any app running when I'm sleeping... it's horrible. Same problem with my wife's S4 since the latest update... It absolutely sucks.

Massive wake lock and battery drain

Hi guys,
I have been having an issue with my Motorola X Play (UK Single Sim) I have only owned it for a few months from new.... The battery is draining fast and I can see in the battery stats that it's not sleeping, otherwise the battery usage page shows nothing of interest, apart from perhaps Mobile Standby which is quite high, above the screen but the signal bar is all green...
I rooted my phone to better find out what was causing these issues, otherwise stock Marshmallow. Unfortunately Motorola now are not interested as they say my phone is rooted and now has no warranty - useless idiots!
Using GS Sam battery monitor (rooted) I can see that the following is keeping the phone awake, no other app is.
48.3% of battery consumed by Kernel (Android OS)
Keep awake over 2 hours
CPU usage 59m 53s
Number of Wake Locks: 1
Byes sent: 246.21KB
Bytes Received: 5.70MB
App UID: 0
Wakelock Detail:
Google_C2DM 0.0s (1)
I have tried safe mode but it appears to be the same, I have hardly any apps installed apart from Facebook and Facebook messenger and I have even tried it without them...
I have tried turning off/on WiFi / Location / GPS is now disabled. WiFi Scanning is off. Restarts make no difference... I have even done a factory reset about a month ago.
Any ideas, this phone is having the same battery life or less than my Nexus 5 which had a much smaller battery...
Many thanks
here's a way to avoid it http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/google-c2dm-checkin-services-t1321520
i'll update if i find anything else.
don't tell them your device is rooted. if you go to service center just re-lock the bootloader and its back to normal.[it won't get your warranty back but they don't check that much]
can you post a screenshot of gs sam.
1 - Install BetterBatteryStats (BBS) - this will give you detailed information on what is draining your battery. Get it from XDA v2.2.0.0B6 - this gives you the detailed breakdown in the UI that you are after, the google play version doesn't do it in the UI (older version).
Get baseline results (charge it full, don't touch it for 5-6 hours) I like to do this while sleeping.
2 - Install Greenify (you don't need the Xposed module if you don't want to fiddle with that yet, alto I highly recommend it) set the working mode to root. If applications are still not sleeping, add the widget and force sleep everything before you turn off your screen
Get BBS results (do the 5-6 hours while sleeping) - improved?
3 - Install Naptime from the google play store (by Fransico Franco)
Get BBS results - improved?
Getting anal about battery usage?
4- Read up on Amplify - this yielded even more results for me. But this can take a bit of work to get right. There's a lot of great threads on XDA for setting this up.
5 -Smart network - allows you to control data, networks, wifi, bluetooh, nfc, gps on/off with a ton of great features for auto. management.
I have all the above and yield a 0.4%/hr drain on stand by (see signature for phone build).
Amplify is a god sent app. It has been 4 hours now, and I have been using whatsapp on and off (about 20 seconds each time) and I still have 97% left in the tank.

Facebook app has been known to cause serious battery drain in the past. Uninstall it and test again.
In 99% of the cases it is caused by an app. Try to find out which one is causing the drain.
Hi all,
Sorry for the delay and thanks for the replies. I performed a factory reset again, after clearing the cache etc, the same as I did last time. The only difference is I then installed Android 6.0.1
The battery drain has now gone. I didn't perform a restore of apps etc, and the only apps I have installed so far in addition have been Facebook and Facebook messenger but I have found these have had no effect at all on the battery drain. I haven't even updated the stock apps (apart from the security ones).
I now get two days of use easy. It also seems to be running slightly faster. I will update apps one by one, over the course of a few days to make sure nothing causes it again...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884
I use this guide, works really great to limit wake locks.
And I don't use Fb app but use the browser instead, battery lasts easily two days of "heavy" usage !
I found the problem, or at least a major bug. Whenever you cast to Google Chromecast Audio and then stop casting completely there is a massive wakelock until you next restart the phone. My phone was awake all night and down to 20% battery life. Android OS takes a massive portion of the battery life and under keep awake stats it's 9 hours +. It seems that when it says disconnected it is not. A major bug! I'll try and report it using Google's bug reporter...

Nope, Doze had no affect at all but it should be as it was sitting stationary overnight - normally the drain overnight is a few percent at the most, last night it was around 65% and I was left with 20% in the morning and this was I think the first time I had used Google Chromecast Audio since the factory reset with great battery life up to last night... I could try Servicely but I am not sure on the service to kill and I'd like to keep it 100% stock for now so I can help out Google to fix the bug (or Motorola if they bother)... What a pain as I just bought 4x Google Chromecast Audios!!
I have reported it here in the Android bug tracker, feel free to comment / star the issue to bring it to Google's attention.
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=208324
However I am not sure if this is a Motorola Issue or a Google Marshmallow / Chromecast issue?? Motorola support have been very unhelpful so no luck if that is the case...
If anyone else with Chromecast Audio could confirm the bug that would be great.
Thanks
Laurence

Q & A Reference + Battery Drain fix

UPDATE : There is NO FIX , Nothing CAN FIX IT ! Its Sony's Problem and they never acknowledge it , Not Sure why some users can get good battery life, custom kernel perhaps.
Q & A Section (I have problems where other users don't)
1. My Wifi is slow and frequently disconnects
- The issue ONLY persist on the first oreo update , it is somehow fixed in the second update
- It could be your router settings (Beacon / DTIM Interval)
2. This phone cant connect to my car's bluetooth / any bluetooth device
- Try to delete your car's bluetooth device from your phone and do the same for the car too
- Restart your phone
- Turn bluetooth on if it is off , try pairing them again
- If all else fails its either your cars audio system is buggy or your phone's carrier software is buggy
3. The phone overheats
- Electronics will get hot according to physics , many factors such as surrounding temperature affects the temp of the phone
- Pushing your phone to play games while in a bathroom will of course make it hot too
- Use HWMonitor to check the temp, if its over 65 degrees celsius = shut it down and let it cool
4. The phone lags and when battery below 30% but is so l33t when plugged in
- Check if stamina is on (stamina mode has three different levels , be sure to analyse them prior)
- If stamina is off then there is nothing wrong with your phone, its because when the battery level is low the phone tries to stay as long as it can
To make this work, your phone will throttle down the cpu power (clocks) to a lower level = saving power
- In conjunction , the low battery level can also lead to the battery unable to supply enough voltage for all the SoC in the phone

I have actually locked bootloader xz. When google app or playservices goes crazy or a little crazy, battery is awful. When are OK ,battery seems good. Better than nougat. Try to enter on playservices beta test. This problem is discussed on web. It happens on all android phones. Is google service side problem. It is a case it is happened on xz with oreo. Because it is the same period when google come crazy on playservices. Try to put beta play services and then reboot phone after you notice the upgrade .It is a first test. Depends by google side. Because it happens on Samsung,Asus ,one plus ecc. . Different devices, and different android version(i notice this on nougat and marshmallow too). So blame Google. And when playservices drains ,my phone becames hot a little without do anything. Playservices drains expecially when you use GPS on high accuracy .
After the Play Services update 11.9.51 about a week ago the random battery drops are gone, battery life has been the same as nougat for me (5-6 hours of sot). That's a comfortable 2 days with 0-1% drop overnight.

On battery graph appears playservices? Or Google app? If is yes and have some strange drains... Playservices are perstist in drains(but you can notice it after more hours) . There are various method, not only install playservices beta. For example, try to delete cache on playstore, then on playservices and then unistall updates of playservices. Then reupdate playservices to last beta version and wait other charge cycle. Drain for me is, actually fine(because sometimes playservices returns to became crazy... It's all Google side) . The right drain for xz. Other oem with same soc and more battery have worse battery than xz. Thank Sony optimizzation here.
