For those of you who do NOT want to update... - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

I booted into recovery to wipe cache and it gave me a message that it was installing the update. I'm on PC5 and I don't want to update. Not sure how I stopped it exactly but I just started pressing and holding down all the buttons and it eventually stopped the update (gave me the little dead android image) then booted into recovery. I wiped the cache and rebooted and all was well. Still on PC5.
So yea, if you are trying to avoid updates, don't boot into recovery unless you know what magic button combo it was to stop the update.

There's several ways to avoid updates. I've been in recovery several times. You can disable automatic updates in settings or disable it in package disabler. I had the installer thing go in recovery but it didn't install anything

I'm on pb5.... My performance is fine, battery life great. Hotspot hack works. Why would I want to update?
Sent from my SM-G935P using XDA-Developers mobile app

For one, the security risk. For two, the fixed/improved wifi calling comes to mind? I used to root all the time, these days, I just don't get why you would?

There's a few things, but I can understand you want hotspot. I heard it still works on update but not sure how true it is. I'm surrounded by wifi 24/7 so no need for hotspot.
Sent from my SM-G935P using XDA-Developers mobile app

There will always be security risk and I have no use for WiFi calling, so I guess personal preference

What is this hotspot thing? Mine works fine stock. Always has. Use it for work often.

On PB5 you can edit the APNs which allows unlimited Hotspot without a plan

Wireless Tether, No More!

I was browsing through market at my apps and seen this. Sprint has figured us out. I have RARELY used this app on account that I have constant internet connection and I no longer have a laptop now.

Dang! I knew it wouldn't be long before sprint followed Verizon and blocked tethering apps...
Lame.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
who downloads wireless tether from the market??
It was inevitable.
But a simple google search solves those problem really.
Titanium backup solves that problem quickly too

just typed in wifi tether in google, wow that was hard
Wtf Is the big deal? If you have this app, that means you are rooted. And that means you are MOST likely using a custom rom, which means that if you are using a fairly new aosp rom such as cm7, it had it built in and works very well. Most sense roms either come with wireless tether already installed or has the sprint hotspot unlocked. So what's the problem?

For you idiots and jackasses, YES YOU! Never said I was looking for another wireless tether app, just was informing others that it is no longer able to be used (if they were to download it from the market like I did). If you actually read what I posted, I stated that I RARELY used the app and havent done so in 3 months, errgo, it isnt a necessity! I was shocked to see the app being discontinued because, AGAIN, I rarely used it. Didnt know whether this was new or old news. So big thanks to Aaronagis for not demeaning me with his response! ****in dumbasses! *catches breath*.... Im no noob here, so the rest of you dumb-****s can suck a ****, no homo.
My EVOlution!
I see why I stopped coming to XDA and started going to TheMikMik. Some of you are too caught up in your own hype. Bunch of smart-dumb mufuccas!
My EVOlution!
You could download the market enabler app. Change your provider and download whatever you want.
They also took out PdaNet, but left Wifi Tethering and Klink
App not on market, go to google, "app name" apk, PROFIT!!

It's just changed to open garden tether, its the same app

Its my fault... Usage from Nov 3rd till now. Btw, I normally only avg 3-5 gigs a month. My desktop died and I had to redownload every thing to my new machine...

[Info]Changing the density cripples Android Pay

I had used the Nova action widget to use the built in scaling options. Afterward, I was unable to add a card, until I went back to factory. It's like the app thinks the phone is rooted and unsecured. Won't allow transactions, either, until it's at stock density. Found that out the embarrassing way, with a line of people behind me. Anybody have a workaround for this? I cannot stand the wasted space of stock. I even set my font to tiny lol

This is why. My bank actually works with Android Pay, where Samsung is very limited.
When I changed the density on my phone the recent tab would only show 4 app. After I reset the phone, it did clear it up. I had the Nexus 6p and had changed the dpi and had no problem with Android Pay.

They didnt remove it, its there. I am assuming samsung didnt give the 15gig for general purpose as far as I can tell. But if u go into settings under backup u can see its there.

I am having issues finding it too. When I go to back up area I only see my gmail account. Would someone mind posting a screen shot of were it is located?
Wait...is it this? Just doesn't say "Samsung Cloud" specifically?

Anyone figure out how to delete the files neopolitin75 pointed out? I turned gallery sync off but it still shows the storage usage for galley. I just like to control where my personal pictures are in the world...
No idea here. Search around for a while and came up empty.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N930A using XDA-Developers mobile app
The workaround I found was to back up the files to your computer or whatever then delete the albums that were syncing then go back in and choose what folder you want to back up. It cleaned it up for me I have 5gb free but there's one folder that won't delete for some reason. I really wish they would've given you the option to select initially before going all willy nilly. Lol

So I take it the August update is rubbish?

Unforunately I downloaded the file but haven't installed it (looks like I've lost ~300mb space permanently). All i've heard have been complaints; gallery app sucks now, phone getd hot, fast charging is slower, gallery freezes, app's freeze. I doubt I'll be installing the August update, can anyone give me a good reason to install?

I've had no issues with mine at all. You'll always see more people complain about something, than those who have had no issues, because they have no reason to post if it's all working normlaly.
Works totally fine for me. Loving the update. Actually reverted back to OTA firmware/rom to get it. I don't regret my decision at all.
Can someone post pics of the new gallery look, ithat's what's holding me back

@Hani88 The issue with the album tags no longer shown is caused by the Material Dark Theme from Samsung's Theme Store. If you use the regular Material Theme, album tags become readable again.

Does the gaming performance improved for you? That's one of the changes stated in the changelog, but I can't see any improvent. Maybe that's because I updated OTA.

Can't install or update apps from the play store

I have seen this before and clearing the data and cache from the google play store and services would normally fix it. Not this time. I can't install apps at all. They just sit there downloading.
Any ideas?
You need to cancel all them and try one or two at a time. I've had that happen before.

Well that's strange then, you've did everything right. Only thing i can think of is Uninstall updates to playstore and try again. If that doesn't work. Looks like a factory reset. Sorry,

I just connected to the wifi in my hotel and it works. So it's only when I am on mobile data. Strange. My mobile data speed is near or over 100 mbps.
Have you set it up in settings to download over metered data?

I just checked connections-data usage , and data saver is off, mobile data is on and there are no restrictions. Data roaming is allowed and Mobile networks. Is there another setting for "metered data"
Everything else is working fine. Netflix etc.

Have the same problem. App downloads 100% but does not actually installs. Although id you close all apps and open google play after that the app will be magically installed.
It looks like phone is blocking some process responsible for app install?
