Strange glitch/bug? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

So suddenly, my phone will press random keys when I am not touching the screen. This only occurs when I am typing/swyping. After a few words, it starts to phantom press keys. I have washed the screen multiple times. My hands are also clean. Anybody know what the deal is?

No, maybe get a new one? Of course they're going to ask you to factory reset first. But sounds like an issue with the screen. I know you'll laugh at this, but have you tried restarting it and does it continue after a reboot?

Yes, multiple reboots. Oh well, I will see if it continues after a reset. My battery is draining fast, so a reset will help anyway.

Switched from ciscogee's rom to normal deodexed rom.. then put trailblazers mods cause I never really checked what all it had. and as soon as the phone booted up from flashing that's when the 3g started acting funny. but it's all good now. and no one to blame. just my mistakes.
Just wondered, cause I've had some random odd things going on...wifi not scanning/connecting, notifications not working, weather not updating, apps that did work fine fc'ing, earlier today my soft keys disappeared... they still worked just couldn't see them. Some times the phone runs like a Ferrari, sometimes like a pinto. Rebooting seems to fix it, or jump to another problem. Its almost like sometimes things don't get loaded correctly at boot. Not bad enough to make the phone unusable, but does have me scratching my head sometimes.

Hmm.. that's odd. the only problems I had was that my lockscreen wasn't showing even after I locked it and the whole 3g issue. The lockscreen problem didn't bother me much but the 3g one did. both fix themselves on their own. Rebooting does work. but also when it's booting up it's best to wait and let everything load instead of using it right away. But aside from this don't worry much. These bugs and error will go away soon as we get closer to our goal.

Oh, I'm not complaining! It's still MUCH better than Verizon had it!
Yeah, letting it boot and "settle in" is the way to go...still starts up a lot faster than stock. The only bug that really concerned me was the wifi. It only happened once, so probably just a fluke.

The lockscreen won't show until you toggle the "disable lockscreen" or whatever it's called on and off in TSM parts ---> lockscreen... it'd be a good idea to also choose a lockscreen too, and pick one you like
And I figured out awhile ago why we have some problems, including weather syncing, ticker sleep settings, unsaved options for social network options in ticker options, ticker time delay nut saving, etc etc... it's because there aren't proper permissions given to the dbdata/databases/com.android.settings/tt_prefs or something like that I managed to fix it, and I can release a quick patch that fixes it, I just didn't know anyone else was having the issues, haha

While we're on the subject of odd stuff...anyone had an issue with when you plug in USB with the phone on/screen off the phone locks up? Doesn't matter if its the wall charger or connected to a computer. Have to pull the battery and reboot. If the screen is on or if the phone is off then everything works as it should.

I noticed that my 3G will go out when I'm on wifi, however if wifi isn't connected to internet it will not automatically pick up the 3G. I would recommend if people continue to have problems look and see if toggling off wifi will help bring the network back online. Worked this problem and many others last night. Nearly "bricked" the unbrickable thankfully stayed calm and worked through each problem one at a time and soon will try and reflash CWM and then TB's mods for ec09.

[SOLVED] Strange Screen When Booting

I have a case on my Nexus 7 that uses the four sensors on the side to turn the screen on and off. I was using the tablet just fine, then I close the case like normal, and upon opening it, it would not turn on. The only way to get a response from the device is by plugging it in and the screen just lights up black. Any type of power reset using the button combinations result in the screen shown in the video at the end of the post.

Sorry I can't post the link. I don't have 10 posts yet.
Solution: I removed the back cover and disconnected and reconnected the battery.

Check the stickies in the dev section, they will show you how to root/unroot and flash back to stock. You can likely just use the updated nexus 7 toolkit.

Good deal!
There have been a couple threads where folks reported similarly-behaving screens. "sparkles", "static", "like an old tv screen", et cetera. I think at least several of them were similarly traced to battery charge issues or loose terminals on the battery connector.
Maybe add "[SOLVED]" to your thread title and it will help future visitors with the same issue.

Android System Draining Battery..PLEASE Answer.

Have been asking about this problem for days and no one has answered me yet. For the past few days Android System has been using the majority of my battery. Always around 30% or more. I attached screens so you can see the processes running underneath "Android System"
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
You probably didn't receive an answer because there are COUNTLESS threads on how to find out for yourself what is causing your drain and how to fix it. People need to stop expecting to be spoon fed solutions. You're on a developers forum where there are guaranteed to be bugs and issues, If you can't deal with that, don't hang out here.
Someone had to be the asshole haha
The only solution I can think of, is to periodically close the apps you're using the least, Again though if this doesn't work then of course do the good old factory reset and try again. Anything past that and it's hardware issues.
Download something like Better Battery Stats and see if one of your apps is causing wakelocks. If you don't see any wakelocks, I'd say the next step is to check your CPU settings. Different CPU governors keep the phone awake longer than others before dropping back to deep sleep which could cause higher system drain. Beyond that, if you're rooted reflash whatever you're running, if not try a factory reset.

Also, If I were to factory reset(Which I hope I dont have to), would it be safe to do so even though I am rooted with TWRP installed? Like will there be a risk bricking/bootlooping my phone if I factory reset while rooted with TWRP? Should i factory reset using TWRP or in the settings menu on my phone?
I had the same issue over the past few days, and as simple as it seems, rebooting fixed the problem for me.

Yes, you can even do the factory reset from within TWRP; just select the standard wipe option. I did it yesterday in prep for installing a new ROM. It does take awhile, but I had no problems and my internal "SD" memory wasn't touched.

Nope. It just takes you back to the starting blocks of whatever ROM you have loaded. For instance, if you're on stock it takes you back to Day 1 of owning the phone, but doesn't erase anything on the "Internal SD". If you've loaded another ROM, say Malladus or something, it will just take you back to the base of that ROM, with no mods or personal settings.
This is happening to a lot of different people on a lot of different devices. FYI.

You can try many things, also the remove battery if you want to do that, its a firmware fault, I even tryed running total stock for some days after full recovery, it comes back. Only fix i have so far is restart the phone a few times untill it works again, then it can work for few hours or sometimes a day. resetting cache moving battery etc. shouldn't help at all. atleast I dont see the logic in removing the battery if you wipe cache...? Someone please explain what els you achieve!
Yeah I'm having the same " android os" wakelock since the latest mj7 update and it's killing the battery! Reboots didn't help much, I'll try the advice above for clearing cache and if it works

What @onyxogen said makes sense now. I know that on one or 2 occasions, my battery lasted normally and i think i might have started using it right out of the socket. I mean start using it after battery full while still plugged in then disconnect later. But i did it without knowing then... I will try for real now and know for sure.

I did. Doesn't work
I posted this in many posts so far, because I am ****ing mad about no quick optimization for this "so called flagship"! The no deep sleep problem is ****ing huge, they must install something into the kernel that can regonize what apps have multiple uses of alarm_manager or something!
In the end, this problem is nothing we can do anything about. As it is samsung/android that have made the problem. I even tried this restart phone and unplug from charger while screen are on... My phone since 6hours ago have had 2m and 37s deep sleep..
I think it is so poor, that we pay so much for a phone and then the only thing samsung do is just put their trust in having android kitkat fixing it, instead of being proactive....

This would only work if it would be the only reason that stops your phone from entering deep sleep of course, so it's far from sure that it works.
For me it works since 2 weeks, but I have to repeat it every time I disconnect. Sometimes I have longer periods of no deep sleep but if I just plug it out while charging than the bug appears every time if I remember correctly.
It's an partly known android bug, since 4.1 I believe.
Note that you have to use the display for a while before unplugging!
