Broken Power Button, Phone Died - Sharp Aquos Crystal

Power button on Aquos stopped working a while ago. I used to be able to squeeze the screen very hard in a certain place and press the power button to turn it on, but this no longer works. Any way to turn the phone on over USB or some other method??

lol ima genius
Well, thanks to my severe impatience, i decided to make a somewhat "oven" to heat the entire phone with a goal of re-soldering the contacts. I took one of those electric heated blankets, turned it up to max settings, tightly wrapped my Aquos in it, then wrapped the heated blanket with a comforter to insulate it. 1 hour later, i removed the phone, let it cool down for a minute, squeezed the screen just below the power button, held it down and PRESTO! it booted up. No idea if this was luck or what, but it sure did work. Any suggestions on apps to use the volume keys as power buttons or something?

Need help: broken on button

So the power button on my phone is busted.
Long story short, someone dropped it and the button broke.
Anyways, i was using the camera button to turn before, but then now it dont work.
It still turns on when i get a call or have my headset plugged in to it.
Do any of you guys know how to change a button to become a power button. maybe make the camera become a power button.
Thanks for your help.
use "do not lock buttons" in Keylock menu and than install KeyLock app to manage autolocking after suspend (to prevent auto poweron) and set it to "lock after wake up").
You can also use Battery Status to do that
I have seen an issue where the power button was knocked out of place, to resolve this, I took the back off the unit and pushed the button back into place, this resolved the problem, it is also possible the solder points have been broken... really easy to solder back on.
cheers
Steve
same problem here
i dropped my TyTN to the floor and the on/off button works after tricking it, but it turns itself on and off at times. and the button wont pop back after pressing...
so i think ill try to solder it back on.
BUT- i need tools to do this. anyone know what tools besides a soldering iron? i really want to do this right, i have busted a few cellphone screws in my life
EDIT:
okay so i found out on the wiki about the tools and procedure... ill post an update on how its going once i get it done

WELL then, it was just the main motherboard that had displaced itself, making the ON-button misaligned with the button on the board... so, i pressed the motherboard in place, and voila! the phone is good as new
i almost died of nerves, but it turned out all right after all... *phew*

[Q] Help!....Lock button stuck

So i've had my MyTouch 4G for over a year now and The hardware was fine (with the exception of a few scratches) until a few days ago. The lock button had gotten harder to press. I could still press it until last night, when the button was just locked into place and WOULD NOT press. I removed the rubbery outline the phone has to get under the button but even pressing that didnt work. I didn't spill anything on it or do anything that could physically harm the phone. Any ideas?
Sometimes the power switches fail. More ofter, their flex cables break. It's a common fault in Nexus One, for example, and far less common, but happens in other phones.
Also, it might be mechanical failure.

I have a mt4g with the exact problem you are describing. What I have to do, & what you can do to get your phone on, is carefully pull back the black rubber as you said you have done, you will see a silver dot with a silver ring around it (it is VERY small) and take a piece of foil and touch the silver dot and ring simultaniously for about 2 seconds, and it will power on. It's a real pain, but I have gotten so good at it, I can do it in about 5 seconds. If you can't get it fixed, that's how to get it on at least...

Power button fried on G2.. how to reach phone reboot/shutoff options?

So my phone overheated (my fault) and the power button is broken, as well as the hardware keyboard. (Functional but inaccurate most the time) I can reboot my phone by pulling the battery, but don't know how to reach the power options menu that used to be reached via the power button. Its been like this for some time now, but yesterday, I pulled my phone from my pocket and saw the power options menu on the screen. (Reboot, Shut Off, Recovery, Bootloader)
Thing is, I have NO idea how that happened. Since I cant turn the screen off manually, things get inadvertently "pushed" when I put it in my pocket before screen times itself out. So obviously there is a way to reach the power menu without the power button working. Anyone here have any idea how to do that? I would greatly appreciate any help!
well your power button must sometimes work, pulling the battery will of course turn it off but you would need to press the power button to turn it on
probably just sticky, open it up and use some electric parts cleaner or rubbing alcohol to clen up he button, fully dry it and then see if it works better

No, power button absolutely does not work. Its been fried for about 2 months now. I already tried all the tricks. Pulling the battery (for some reason) is how I reboot the phone. I can't really turn it "off" aside from leaving the battery out. As soon as I put it back in, the phone automatically turns on. This may be a fail safe measure in case the power button does break, as in my case. I'm just thinking there must be some way to reach that power menu other than power button.
well it isn't a fail safe, its just what happens when the power button is stuck on, the plastic button you touch is part of the case, this makes contact with the actual power button which is part of the motherboard.
from what you descriped you power button is stuck, but do as you please

I see what you are saying. If that is the case, not sure I have the tools or know-how to actually open my phone up. I just tried the tricks like burying it in dry rice to try and soak up moisture and whatnot. Due for a new phone in a few months anyway, just was curious if there is some shortcut via software that I'm not aware of.
if your phone is rooted there are apps that can creat shortcut icons on your screen to do most any key press. just search the market.
don't know of any rom with a built in feature like this so I'm sure the power button just became unstuck for a moment and then restuck

There's an app that is filled Buttonremapper, on xda here. Search it through Google. It lets you remap a key to any action you want

I recently got my G2 D802 wet in rain. It was in my Rain jacket's pocket, and got a little wet, i turned it off and cleaned it with tissue and put in a plastic bag. when i came back to home i sucked air from speakers grill and turned it on. it opened fined except touch was not working in certain areas, then I opened its back casing (its easy) and used hair drier to dry it for over 1 hour, i dint put drier too close in case phone gets too hot, but im sure i dried it well, then i turned the phone on and it worked fine, untill next day when its power button started acting weirdly. power button works fine, it turns phone off, unlocks it, only problem occurs when it doesn't turn off screen when phone is unlocked. like when screen is on. i have tried locking and unlocking in recovery TWRP and it works fine there. just having problem when phone is on. any suggestions? im on Cloudy Rom 2.1.
thanks.
PS: i just check again, when phone is locked and screen off, and i press and hold power button, it displays power off menu and also opens QUICK MEMO, so i guess when screen is unlocked , power button acts as vol up and power button?
Probably some water short circuit your buttons. A good manner of dry wet phone is:
Disconnect battery
Put the phone in rice for almost 24 hours
Reconnect battery ......Pray... And turn it on

Tore apart axon7, now the power button won't stay in

Hey all,
So my dad dropped his phone and the screen appeared damaged. Tore apart his phone and it turned out the plug for the screen was just loose. Fastened the LCD plug down and put a tiny dab of super glue to keep it in place. Works great now! Cool, I thought
I cannot for the life of me put the case back on and the power button stay in place. I have no idea why, but it seems like I push on the edge of the power button and it goes into the phone, the other edge comes out, and the power button falls out.
I've watched multiple videos and the power button looks exactly the same. Anyone have experience with this or advice?
I don't know what I did but it seems to have worked. I still don't understand what went wrong the first dozen times I closed the phone up because the power button would not stay in
