backup not working - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my last backup and my original backup (like in the thread) niether are working , so now i dont have anything , i do have twrp , but how do i get a factory reset ? through fastboot ? how do i know what image to take? theres about ten images in the google site?i will follow the directions of either with or without storage doesnt matter right now, just need to know what image to take , you should i just get one of the 6.0's or one of the 6.1' s ? or does it matter

or is there a factory .zip that i can try n flash , im not sure if i can do that anyway

im trying to re install the factory image , ive gotten back to the lil android , but it wont get me back to "factory reset"

it helps if you slant correctly ? \ instead of / and not drink whiskey while your having fun!

for those of you who bought a NEXUS phone and you are just using it like a standard carrier thingy , put it back up for sale on ebay or craigslist and let some one who wants to learn have fun!! Trust me if your stock , havent done a thing , get with the program people , take a risk and have some fun, youll find out that the XDA devs are smart as hell , they know what they are doing and they will help you , but you have to want to try it , you have to give in , yes it a risk , but hell , think about how much you will learn , read ,READ, READ , ask questions ! Trust me , it is fun , and if it isnt , your not a geek anyway , get a crApple and be like everyone else!

My guide might be helpful for you:

Need opinions

like a week ago i came to the help thread because my nexus 4 got bricked while flashing THE CORRECT bootloader , and tomorrow im gonna send it in to get jtagged by the guy/guys at mobiletechvideos .
i heard they/he is really legit and that my phone should end up fixed , now im really worried that i should just leave my phone on stock and not tamper with it so i dont run into this problem again , but i REALLY REALLY REALLY like cyanogenmod 10.1
should i just give up on tampering with my phone for the sake of my money (low family income , i got the nexus 4 for income tax otherwise impossible) or is it really not a big deal and should i just flash cyanogenmod 10.1 ?
im not looking for a definite answer i just want some advice or opinions , thanks :good:
EDIT: btw i havnt purchased the repair yet either lol im waiting for my mom to get payed tomorrow then im gonna purchase the repair and ship in the phone to them/him on monday
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147194 you can download the particular bootloader and/or radio in CWM format for the latest 4.2.2 rom.If you still are on 4.2.1 i suggest to flash the whole 4.2.2 image in fastboot from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam first. Then root and after that flash CM10.1.

My phone isn't repaired yet, I was just wondering if cyanogenmod is worth tampering with my phone. Just wanted to hear some opinions, because I decided to stay stock so I don't brick my nexus again but I really like cyanogenmod 10.1
EDIT:thanks for the bootloader link though I'll add that to my reference bookmarks
I think what gee2012 is trying to tell you is that your phone is probably not "bricked". If you can get into fastboot you can fix it yourself. If you have the money (which from the OP looks like you don't) then go ahead and send it to someone else to fix. If you want to save some cash start reading and once you learn how, do it yourself. That (extensive reading) should have been your first step before you flashed the first time.
Why were you flashing just the bootloader? My personal take on updating core components of the phone is to wait for a factory image and flash that in its entirety using Google's scripts and then restore a backup/flash a new ROM based on the new build. This way you know everything on the phone matches and you'll get the best out of it
Just flashing cm won't brick your phone it doesn't overwrite anything that can brick it

Hi ,
welcome to the wonderful world of flashing...
Easy way out would be after you backup everything important in your phone ( pics , music , contacts , video....) to flash and stock rom again ( same you had) with Odin and start all over again....
Option 2 but i would trip knox bit would be flash a custom recovery and flash a custom rom....

thank you for the quick replay!
while you're here is it possible to send the apps from another phone to mine, my roommates' got an unrooted note 3 with kitkat 4.2.2 just like my s4, is there any way to simply send an apk of those apps to my phone or is flashing the only way...?
because my cable is really horrible and to flash i have to walk a couple of miles to my friends house to use his cable and its REALLY HOT outside

We all been there....
Easiest way out is reflashing and start all over ......you can try reinstalling from your friend also but you may get into a bootloop and you would have to reinstall firmware again.....
another option would be to download a custom rom for you phone and extract from the zip the missing apps and re install them in you rom again ( with the right permissions usually rw r r) that would possible save you re installing every thing .
Advice get an app like galaxysim unlock
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.galaxsimunlock&hl=en
Make an EFS backup and save it in a safe place....( all your imei info is there) sometimes flashing gets unfriendly

Super virus?

I'm having issues with a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime (G360T1UVU1AOFA). Long story short a customers device had some form of virus labeled with "the FBI" lol so I took the phone figuring I could fix it and return it to him. I flashed the stock rom to the phone via ODIN. it passed and was a success. The reason I didn't try a master reset first was the customer did not know his Gmail PW required to set up the phone after reset. After the flash the device booted like a brand new phone, apps got optimized all that good stuff. Made it through the initial setup WITHOUT requiring the Gmail. About 30 seconds after getting to home screen the virus pop up came back asking for exactly (no tax) 500$ to unlock. Ok awesome... So I then master reset the phone thinking the stock rom that was flashed would have reset the device. Nope. It required me to input the original Gmail used to setup the device. I'm willing to bet an unlocked Samsung bootloader that the virus is still there even after the master reset. What can I do to RESET this phone? I thought a flash was a complete reinstall.
ok well im not an expert by any means in fact still reletively new to all this so take this with a grain of salt or however that expression goes but my first reactionary answer would b: flash does not always = complete reinstall especially using odin unless u know wut ur doin (im not yet even close to thinkin i even know wut im doin with odin)
anywho id suggest just searchin the forums (probly actually find more for this model posted under the "samsung galaxy core" section since the prime wasnt given its own seperate one) for an odin-friendly version of twrp (or cwm tho ive never tried it on this particular phone) flash ur preferred custom recovery but keep in mind rule #1 above anything else with this phone for the love of roms DO NOT EVER BOOT INTO RECOVERY IN ANY OTHER WAY BESIDES THE 3 BUTTON COMBO (power+menu+volume up)
anywho then id return to the forums n search for a good stock sm-g360t1 flashable zip n use twrp (or cwm depending on personal preference) to wipe everything that can be wiped and then go ahead n flash the stock rom locally that way n see if that makes any sorta difference?
again im still pretty new to all this n even more so to samsungs soo ideally id suggest gettin a second opinion butt since nobody has yet answered u i figured id throw my opinion out there in case it happens to help u out
but, anybody who knows more than i pls pls pls by all means if u find any flaws with my suggestion feel free to correct me or add ur 2 cents im totally fine with constructive criticism, and i realize that theres countless things i know little to nothing about but im always willing to listen n learn from anyone more experienced than i

how to remove frp on samsung prime

I got a phone given to me because they havent used it in a long time, so i figured a free phone to mess up. Anyway they told me that they did a factory reset on it and now they dont remember the email and what not for the phone, I guess now i know why it was free. Anyway it is a Samsung prime model sm-g530r4 and it is for Us cellular. I have read and read a lot and have messed with this thing for the past 3 days and cant anywhere with it. I was thinking okay they say an otg cable to bypass this, I bought one and it didnt work for me. I read that reflashing stock firmware with Odin, nope that didnt work. I could go on and on. Im here all the time reading and what not but I just dont ask for help that often, most of the time I am work at it into I get it but this one is hitting a nerve with me, maybe it is old age not sure tho. Anyway i also have tried to use adb to see if i can get anywhere with that but again a dead end. The phone is not rooted, or anything. As I was going to give it to my 75 year old mother, first smartphone, lol.
Ive thought about downgrading it but I cant find anything below 5.1.1 and some say that wont work. Ive got different os on computers and most of the time use Linux but it seems like the tools are made for windows, so im using a windows 10 right now, but i have a windows 7 and a couple xp., also a few different linux systems. Just incase some work better than others. Right now i have been messing with aabox that a member posted here to see if i can get it to work and no go again. Please any help would be great, if not i might take it out side and practice with my new glock.
Anyway thanks for your time and have a good one. thanks
If you have a full stock firmware, did you try to go into recovery and wipe data ?
If you can flash a twrp recovery, boot into it and wipe data + cache + dalvik cache, and wipe PERSISTENT partition.
