Any Defects I Should Be Aware Of? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. I'm transferring from a note 5 which will go to my dad to a nexus 6p. Any defects I should watch out for? Also, do I get the warranty covered one or is the build of the 6p good enough for me not to worry. Thanks!

Don't bend or put it in your back pocket and sit on it.

It's a bit bendable, don't sit on it, don't keep it in your back pocket. Be aware of dust on stereo speakers (it isn't causing trouble but dust will pile on them) Oh, and use a case. If you don't like them, just put it on a friendly surface.(put it on paper, rubber etc.) The phone will throttle if you are gaming for ~45-50 min. Be aware of lot of direct sunlight. I think that's all. Hope i helped. (Sorry for my english)

Some of us are not getting any search results, at least with the app. I tried searching "clear case" while in the 6P forums and got 1000s of unrelated posts from all phones. I added "nexus 6p" and same. It's a bit dumb seeing people insult and close threads when search is broken.

(Q) Nexus 7 broken screen. Warranty!

Hi guys I want to make a question. Today I saw the screen of my tablet broken in the side as you cab see in the photos. This didn't happen from dropping or press on it. It doesn't have signs of drop either. The tablet is full functional only this corner don't work. I want to ask if I can claim free repair from Asus because it's not my fault. The tablet is 15 days old and this happen by itself.
Thanks in advance

First of all, don't bump your thread so soon. Only bump if you've had no reply in 24 hours.
Now to answer your question, the only way you'll truly know is by asking them. Different situations are different so no one could really tell you.
Oh sorry about that. I wanted some opinions before I call. Anyway now the Asus support line is closed until Monday I think. I mean is it possible to replace it free or they don't change broken screen's no matter what?
Thanks for the fast reply and sorry again
Sent from my Nexus 7
I think they may do depending on the situation.
You'll just have to explain everything to them and hope for the best really.

generally a broken screen would be considered physical damage, which the warranty wouldnt cover. it would be very hard to prove that the screen broke all by itself, the weight of the proof would be on you. the only thing that might save you is getting the right customer service representative that is sympathetic to your cause. be very nice to them when you call.
Asus says it's not covered by warranty and the price to fix it is 150 €. So I'm going to buy new lcd+digitizer from eShop. Anyone knows were I can find it cheap?

Quite honestly, most just end up replacing the entire tablet because of the disproportionately high price for the LCD/digitizer.

I was reading this thread hoping that they would replace it. If you did not cause the crack under no circumstances should you be stuck stuck the bill. Period. I'm glad things worked out!

What did you tell Asus? I have the same problem and they quoted me 150usd to fix. I can't recall how the screen cracked. It just seem to happen out of nowhere.

I told them that it's not my fault and I didn't drop it or something.like that. Maybe they saw that my tablet was like New no scratches or hits in the corner. I don't know for sure it must be in technicians hands of he will fix it for free

This happened to me. Hit power button and screen cracked from middle left to bottom right. Its on itsway to Asus right now.
It had some screen lift on the left, but never bothered me. I can't help but think that's what caused it.
Cross your fingers for me !

Just a quick update. My tab reached Asus on Friday. Checked status and it says repair in progress. Hopefully this is good news, as I haven't been notified regarding a charge for repair

Should I RMA this due to light bleed? [pics attached]

How bad is this? Am I likely to get a better one if I RMA? I'm actually not terribly anal about these things, but this I can actually notice in daily use if my brightness is higher than 25 or so. First pic is 100% brightness; second pic is 10%.
Definitely.. I have a little on my status bar but its barely visible. That's ridiculous

that's terrible, how long have you put up with that?, I'm getting sick of all these issue threads, wish lg would improve their quality control.
I've been putting up with it for about a month but finally got annoyed enough tonight to take it into a dark room and see how bad it really was. Needless to say I was disappointed. Oh well. Will call to Rma tomorrow and will do my nexus 7 at the same time. It just won't even charge for some reason.
Pitiful google. You are alienating your most loyal customers with this $h!t.

Considering LG makes it it's more so them. In either case it's unfortunate you didn't do it earlier, I think Google handles it first 2 weeks whereas now you'll need to go through LG. Hopefully this isn't the case though as I'm sure it takes a bit longer.

wow that is pretty bad. i just have a bit of light bleed in the top right corner which seems to be a common issue and a tiny bit in the lower left hand corner.
Yea that is really bad and won't settle over time.

Is the 8gb model faster?

So far I have used about 8 nexus 4's ( I keep ordering replacements to keep them ). And I don't know how to test this but all the 8gb just feel quite a bit faster.
Anyone else feel the same, also I tried stock and then rooted to cm10.1 mako all the same way.

Yes I'm the bad guy because I have to lie to Google to get more to help people in need. Who cares what happens with phone it makes somebody happy. Blame Google not me I am just a guy trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents.
Anyway does anyone feel the 8gb is faster. Also just got a mercury slim case on amazon I have to say in white or black this is the best case hands down. I pretty much ordered every single one. Guess that makes me a douche because I gave a company money in exchange for a product.

It sounds like you're suggesting the nand chip is faster in the 8gb. We would need people to do file storage benchmark to confirm your claim.

I had a play with both model, and to me they felt the same...
The only way I can describe it is on the 16 once in a while it will lag for a second or two but on the 8gb I never get it.

You found a way to screw a system that was meant to help people, for your own gain. That's what makes you the d-bag.
Anyways, not certain of any correlation. As another guy said, it may just be the placebo effect.
Somehow I get a feeling this is some kind of strange trolling.
Like those messages about 21xC devices without sparkling back.
Here is why: the OP goes through his 4-th device (implying he is getting replacements) and somehow manages to get his 16gb replaced with 8gb. Which is somewhat strange and I suppose such an event would trigger a very different post.

No actually it would not seeing how much I can sell one for. And if you guys don't think a lot of people are doing this now you lying to yourself. There are a ton of nexus 4's on eBay for sale buy one now and sell yours when you get it maybe you even make a profit.
My nexus 4 and my girlfriends nexus were free and that was my goal. There is no excuse for not having a nexus 4 if you really wanted one. I'm so sure I somehow jammed the system all across the world. Sorry that life has not been fair to your pursuit for a nexus 4. I'm sure someone starving in a poor country could feel your pain, I mean what a tragedy. Maybe I should just call the police and turn myself in.
Then when you break your nexus 4 that is super fragile you will wonder why you even bothered.

And somehow I worse than the guy that orders 1 nexus 4 and has it replaced 3 times because it has a "flaw". Knowing damn well this is a 300 dollar phone and expecting iPhone 5 quality. I mean does anyone remember all you guys who kept replacing your nexus 7.

Liquipel for Nexus 4?

When you go to the site : https://www.liquipel.com/shop/
on the slideshow it shows nexus 4 image with liquid as an image for pretreated devices.. so is this real?
Yes it's a special coating not looked at your link but seen it before

i know what liquipel is but is there available for our nexus 4? the picture on the site hints that there will be one i think cause right now you cant buy one for the nexus 4
Does this stuff make the phone waterproof or just splash proof? Looks cool nonetheless!
Makes it water resistant, a bit more than splash proof.
Should be resistant to accidentally falling in a pool etc too. Just don't expect to be swimming with your phone
"Disclaimer: Liquipel applies a preventative coating designed to aid in the event of accidental liquid exposure, and assumes no responsibility for water damaged devices. Liquipel does not recommend your device ever come in contact with liquid."
Waste of money. Unless they plug the headphone port and speakers and all other little gaps.
Save your money and buy a Sony if its important to you.

That disclaimer doesn't mean it's a waste of money. If they said "go drop your phone in water now that it's waterproof" is like a car company telling you to crash your car because it has airbags.
You obviously didnt read the info on the website, because it would explain why the headphone and speakers don't need to be blocked
bump waiting to find out if its true or not that they offer nexus 4 a liquipel treatment not if its waterproof or not
I emailed them to ask and they said that is not available for the n4. I'll put up a screen shot of the email in a bit

Just went to the official store kiosk at West Edmonton Mall, they said it is a JUST updated to be approved. Got it done for $60+ tax. Does work! Just washed my phone in the sink, still working!

Indirectly it is device specific. They have to get the manufacture to "approve" the method they use does not damage the device and it may still consider to be under warranty after treatment. That is why not every device are listed. I believe you can get any of them done but you would have to take the liabilities instead in the warranty i think.
