GPA and Compass - Moto G4 Questions & Answers

Hi,
just a quick question regarding the GPS and in particular the compass functions; specifically, does it has a hardware compass?
Thanks
Neiko

A magnetic sensor is also missing, so a Moto G4 can't be used as a compass.

Compass Problem

Just recently acquired a MyTouch4g for my wife. Tried using Google Sky Map but it was locked onto one screen view. Even using our finger to navigate, the screen didn't move. Also tried using GPS Status to calibrate the compass and it is frozen at due North. Looked at the user manual but I don't see any way to unlock the compass so that it will work other than turning Compass Mode on in Street View of Google Maps. And that didn't work either. What am I missing to make the compass work. Thanks in advance.
Well, it looks like I was able to determine the problem. The accelerometer in the phone is not working. Even with the auto-rotate checked, the screen does not flip for navigation or viewing pictures in the gallery. Looks like I will have to exchange the phone for another that works.
Edit: Upon further investigation, I found that when my wife's new flip case arrived, the temporary case which we knew blocked the proximity sensor, was actually the cause for the Compass, Google Sky Map, Navigation problem. Once the proximity sensor was clear, the compass, Google Sky Map, etc. now works properly. Didn't realize that blocking the proximity sensor causes compass, etc. issues. Just an FYI for others experiencing compass issues.

Use of sensors in jogging

Hi everybody,
Can anyone tell me how to use the sensors(proximity, magnetic etc.) on Nexus 4??
I mean as we have accelerometer sensor installed on my N4, can I use this sensor to show the actual speed of my jogging?

[Q] LG Optimus E610 not for sale/ Problem of rotation after installation

Hello
I have an LG E610 which is marked as not for sale, I had the famous "user debug mode" show in the UI, but almost everithing was working well.
I tried to flash it using official kdz ROM, and this passed well, but after booting, I don't have the screen rotation, neither the GPS, I don't need GPS. But the screen rotation is important for me.
Using the Android System Information I got this list of sensors:
BMA250 3-axis Accelerometer
BMM050 3-axis Magnetic field sensor
BMM050 Orientation sensor
GP2A Proximity
Rotation Vector
Please help me find the drivers for this sensors (if this is the problem).
Thanks in advance
so did any one solve this problem have same s*&^%$

Gyroscope?

Hi everyone,
I would to know if this tablet has a gyroscope sensor. According to gsmarena, there is one, however according to an app called Gyroscope Test there is not. Also apps that required a gyroscope doesn't seem to work. I don't know if the kernel I installed simply doesn't support the gyroscope.
Thank you
Hey, I just downloaded aida64 and gyroscope test to test it.
Aida64 shows me:
LIS3DH Acceleration sensor: x / y / z
MS-3R(YAS532) Magnetic sensor: x / y / z
MS-x Orientation sensor: Azimuth / Pitch / Roll
AL3201 Light sensor
Screen orientation sensor
If I open the gyroscope test app it shows me:
Device Model ID: Samsung GT-N5110
Detected hardware
Gyroscope: No
Magnetometer: Yes
Accelerometer: Yes
Google Cardboard compatible: No
If I run the simulation in the app, I was able to looking around by moving my tab. It was smooth and correct.

Head unit with compass / mag sensor / gyro?

I realized that my Atoto S8 has absolutely no compass or other navigation sensor apart from gps. Is this typical in other units? When driving I notice Maps/Waze can get very confused at times what direction I'm actually pointing. On GPs test I get like 3m accuracy too. Pity, seems like such a missing feature.
I don't know ANY head unit manufacturer who uses magnets for compass direction. Too undependable and too many complications with internal shielding. If you want a magnetic compass you are best served by getting one of those dash mount bubble compasses.
