you can download with SamFirm or Sammobile, when it's the same android version (only security updates or new apps...), not lost the root, but when is a new android version, propably can delete root

Install firmware finder and adjust setting to view last firmware
If it can't find nougat update , you can unlock bootloader and update via twrp method

I found the b563 fw but when i tried to update it it stopped at 1 % and the phone rebooted. What can cause the problem ?
Keep checking! Older firmwares have some small optimization to be done. So these guys r releasing slowly

On the firmware finder app, disable OTA, and you'll see that the ones that say FULL/OTA will disappear,
and the only FULL that shows up are the older (EMUI 4x) ones. At least that's what happens on
mine. L29C185B321
I just manage to update to b563 by first flash b211 using the dload method, and then i could update to b563 with firmware finder . Thanks for the help everybody !

Question: upgrading to Nougat while keeping root/twrp

My updater app keeps bothering me all the time that it has downloaded the new nougat upgrade (L31C432B371 and 1.25 GB in size in my case). Now I really want to do the update but my phone is rooted and TWRP is installed. My questions:
1) Should I install the update via TWRP or does the stock upater app (OTA) also work on a rooted phone?
2) Will I be able to keep root/TWRP and if not can I reinstall that in nougat?
Thank you guys and girls for any help.
Just don't update. The 1.25 is only the rom without the data. If you want to upgrade do it via Firmware finder . ( you will loose root and twrp if you update via ota or via firwmare finder. )

Thanks for the help. In firmware finder I can choose between FullOTA-MF (1.64 GB) and FullOTA-MF-PV (1.99 GB). I would go the latter one, right (1.99 GB)?
There is also a even newer version (B381) but looking here at xda that version seems to have some problems.

Thanks! So the the update mostly worked. All apps are there & bluetooth works.
However, my build is now NRD90M test-keys. Is that a problem and if it is, how could I fix it?
EDIT: nervermin, fixed it by flashing the upate_data_full_zip from this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...b360-links-t3565117/post71688774#post71688774

Need help downgrading my S8+ from Android 8.0 to Android 7.0 SG955W (Rogers)

Hi,
So the new firmware update is really bad on the battery and I wanted to rollback for my SG955W. I downloaded the latest 7.0 firmware from sammobile and tried flashing with ODIN but it fails for some reason.
Can someone help me why?

I do not think that is possible. Bootloader on your model was updated to V3 from V2 on Nougat.
Samsung is responsible for doing this. They should be sued!

Download Nougat or Marsh from sammobile and flash t with Odin, more instructions on sammobile.
downgrade only possible with V2 firmware files, don't flash any firmware build before the january 2018 or you will brick your device .

I am new here i dont know what is V2 firmwarefile. Can you explain what is V2 firmware?? Thanks you for advise:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
I mean the bootloader version that is written in the firmware name i.e in G935FXXU2DRAG, 2 is the bootloader version of the firmware after U letter and if you are already on version 2 bootloader, you cannot flash a firmware which has 1 in place of 2..

Ok Thanks you bro!!!!:fingers-crossed::good:
This is useful! I tried to downgrade from 8.0 to 7.0 and bricked my device, luckily I could restore the same version I had before... even SmartSwitch don't give a damn about my device anymore.
If you have bootloader version which says XXS2 then you can't downgrade to Marshmallow and initial Nougat firmwares released till December 2017.
However, if you never upgraded your bootloader to v2 (like me), then you can downgrade to even Marshmallow without any issues. Check my phone screenshot. I am running latest Oreo firmware on v1 bootloader without any issues.
