Is it possible to get the MLS code without root? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Phone is awesome but there are problems in the use of other operators abroad USA. Is it possible to get the MLS code without root?

call Sprint customer service and ask for it, if they didn't give it to you call again and you will get it

I'm not in the US

*MSL ?
Anyway Sprint chat can also give it to you.

To get my MSL I had to email an executive since I didn't have an account to prove the phone was fully paid off, can't think of why this would matter.
This was at release though so it could be different

To get your MSL, feel free to contact me via PM. I can not either confirm nor deny that i may or may not be an employee of sprint (simply cell phone sales).

I know this is an old thread, but since I am still getting the requests, I'd like to say,
If you want your MSL, thats all fine and jazz. But if I get a message about it, I need your esn and the device needs to be currently on a sprint network. No ESN does nothing for me, and the system I use to get the MSL's cannot find the MSL for a device that is not currently on the network. So when you message me, throw your ESN in there. Wanna be awesome? Add your phone number and make my life 10 times easier.
Thanks!

im would like to get my msl code idk where to find the esn but my imei number is 355501074539048 and i dont know what the previous phone number was. thank you

Want to sell Hero, is phone locked to my number?

I would like to know if it is possible to sell this phone, in a working condition to someone else. Or is this phone forever tied to me? I currently have this phone and one on another carrier which is much cheaper and cannot afford the hero ATM

Did you sign a contract? If so, you should talk to Sprint about that. We aren't contract lawyers.
Well i didnt actually SIGN anything.. haha but yes I am under contract, I have left carriers before while under contract, with no problems though.
But my question remains the same, if the phone IS tied to me, because of contract or other reasons, is there a way to revert it to a new-like state in which someone could purchase and use the phone? This IS a hacking website after all.

Have you rooted it? If so, you should probably RUU unless they actually WANT the rooted phone. Other than that, you should simply need to format the SD card and do a factory wipe of the phone data. That would return the phone to a factory state.

Well, if you have this phone flashed to another carrier, you'll need to get it all setup back to Sprint before someone else can take it over. But chances are as long as you didn't clone the ESN or something illegal. You can sell it off just fine.
Best bet is to call Sprint and have them check the ESN before you sell it. They can look it up and make sure it can be activated. If there is an unpaid bill on the ESN or if it was ever reported stolen, they will not activate it.
The phone is NOT tied to you once you've been released from your account obligation. People sell their CDMA phones all the time. This isn't a problem
okay, But if i sold it and DIDNT tell sprint, and just stopped paying the bill could it still be activated? BTW it is not flashed to use another carrier. But It would nice if i could unlock it to open up the possibilty of an international sale.

It can't be sold internationally because USA is the only country with CDMA.
Nope a phone has to have a clean ESN to be put on another account. A bad ESN means phone came from an account which still has a balance or was stolen.
You don't even really have to tell sprint, if you activate another phone on the account and remove the Hero... But something has to be active on the account in its place - They pretty much hold the phone hostage until you have paid them.

You can stop paying and sell the phone. Its not a problem. Unless someone reports the phone stolen then it will get a bad ESN number. If you just simply sell it or give it to someone else, it will work perfectly fine.

Ummm no. Have you ever registered a phone that came from an account that still had a balance on it? It won't work
Arrgggh so im getting conflicting answers here. Thats okay though. It makes alot of sense that you wouldnt be able to sell your phone until your balance is paid/ different phone switched to same account.
So ill ask this; is there a way to clean/reset your ESN? That would be ideal.
I've also heard the idea of selling the phone for "parts", but that sounds less appealing because im sure nobody is in the market for a "parts" Hero. Unless someone has knowledge of the contrary.
try selling the phone and transferring the account to someone else at the same time, just go with them to a sprint store. I THINK that can be done.
As for changing the ESN you won't find help for that here as it's illegal.

[Q] unlocking question

if i have an un-paid bill with t-mobile, will i be able to unlock my hd2?
just because im not gonna try and call them i know they wont give me the code, but i also dont want to spend my money on sites if they arent gonna be able to get the code anyways.
thanks.

Oh yeah man if you buy a code and it is a valid code it will unlock your HD2. T-Mobile can not stop you from unlocking your HD2. Something like you are thinking would be a breach of rights of consumers and personal ownership laws. The code is something just for the device it has no connection (beyond allowing your HD2 be able to use other carriers signal) to the T-Mobile networkl
Awesome. Thanks.

Does that mean I could contact HTC for an unlock code?

So I decided on just buying an unlock code off ebay. I called at&t and tried to act like i didnt know what i was talking about but the lady just blew me off. haha. will keep updated.
""Hi.
This HTC HD2 imei# you gave us was not found on HTC database.
So we will be giving you refund shortly.
Thank you for shopping with us.""
Well that didnt work..
I have a feeling this is gonna happen more than once..
the unlocking site probable didnt have the code.. Try another one if you want... but tmobile cant lock your phone... All tmobile has control over is your simcard nothing else.. even though the phone might have their name on it.. that doesn't mean nothing.. As for HTC having the code... They do but their not suppose to give it to use since its partially owned by tmobile... So you can try gettin a prepaid tmobile sim an have it activated and just call them up and they should provide the code.. NOW as to how long you have to be with them as a prepaid customer i dont know...
Me i go prepaid... Im not signing my soul away to some company just for a discount on a phone.. The other day i called them up and asked for the code.. they sent me an email the next day with it.. I been with them for a year or so with this number
do you think i could just say i bought the phone off someone? and just say i want to activate it with a different sim card?

Wouldn't Hurt to try.. It all a matter of who you talk to.. There are some friendly people and then there are ass holes who even if you have a good standing account they wont do nothing
in my experiance with customer service reps some times you need to call 4 or 5 times before you get someone who knows what there talking about, or are willing to help you. with spring you had to call at least that many times to get a PRL update to get access to new towers.

He has to deactivate the ESN of the phone from his account then you can put your number onto the phone.

Yes it can all be done at the store! You're making a good choice on the device
don't pay the seller until the device is confirmed working on your account.
That way he can't snatch-n-run :O
I would also like to add it's best to go with the seller of the phone to the Sprint store and have him deactivate the ESN on his account and then you reactivate it on your account at the same time. That way you know it's legit and you're not going to get ripped off by buying a phone that has been flagged. Once it's confirmed it's on your account, then you pay the seller at the store.
Plus at least the Sprint store is also a public place as well so chance of you getting robbed or cheated by someone unscrupulous from Craigslist is a lot lower.

Get Your MSL Before Turning On Your Phone!

I know this has probably been mentioned elsewhere, so if you already know just ignore this... lol
I always like having my MSL for my phones. Most of the traditional ways don't work anymore, and usually you can just call Sprint and ask.
But this works too:
Before I ever turned on my new Note 7 I went to Sprint's website and in my account selected activate new device.
It then came up with my old Note 5 and new Note 7. Told me to turn off both phones and was I sure.... blah blah blah
Clicked continue, it sat and thought about it for a minute then came back and said it was done.
Now, towards the top left of your screen is the "Activation Code" that is your MSL. Turned on phone, did all the setup, then went to dialer and typed ##3282#, chose edit, put in the MSL and it worked!
I don't know if this will work if you turn on the new phone first and let it go through the hands free activation.
Yeah that's a good way if you activate yourself
Is your Note 7 allowing you to edit APN settings with your MSL?

If I buy the phone from Samsung direct will it be unlocked already?
FYI,
I activated my new Note 7 phone via sprint's site, after it was activated, they send me my activation confirmation with my "Activation code," which is my MSL Code.

I paid outright from Best buy and the Sprint representative on the chat said they no longer give out MSL numbers via chat and I had to call in. I called in and the lady first said she unlocked my phone for me and my phone doesn't have a MSL number. I said uhh yeah it does and after more research she found it.

Was on chat for all of 5 minutes and got the MSL for both of my lines. They wanted to know why and I told them that I've had them for all my devices and used it to reset settings when I ran into issues. They said OK and gave them to me. No trouble at all!
All I had to do was activate them online thru the Sprint website and it both gives you, and emails you, your MSL codes.
No fuss no muss.....

Sprint Unlocking?

So I purchased my phone from Sprint and would like to do the domestic unlock. I have read around that if you insert another carriers sim card before turning the phone on initially it will be unlocked. I unfortunately did not do this.
My question is, if I were to re-flash the stock firmware (whenever that releases) would I be able to insert another carrier's sim card and reproduce the initial out of the box unlock process?
Just take it to Sprint and have them unlock it for all carpets. As I understand it, they are required by law to do so if asked.

That shouldn't matter as long as you don't cancel your Sprint service, otherwise then of course they would bill you for the remainder of the phone. If you look on your about phone settings, there is an option for UICC unlock where you would update the PRL etc. They put in a code which then allows other SIMs and activations, but you could switch back and forth after that even. Leased or not they should unlock this for you no questions asked if requested.

Where is the UICC option? I remember seeing it when I was playing around with the phone but now I don't see it anymore?
I bought one off of craigslist, sprint "locked" I took a gamble thinking it would be able to be used on a different network. Unfortunately, I am unable to make it work with AT&T.
Anyone with ideas on how to unlock a sprint phone (clean IMEI) for AT&T?

About phone / OMADM updates / UICC unlock
Sprint will either need to put in the code for you, or they will give you the code. Haven't looked into it much since I'm staying with Sprint. Even if they aren't your carrier, probably would still do it when asked. Just go to local store front and try.

Hopefully someone else will know and comment. If it were me, I'd use the excuse of you travel and Sprint coverage isn't supported everywhere therefore you need to be able to swap SIMs. If it were me, I'd research the law requiring them to unlock it and see the best way getting this done, maybe a second tier rep over the phone would be another option to try, sometimes people in the store just say things thinking they know best. You could try a factory reset and put in the other SIM before 1st boot but not seeing that actually work in my opinion.
The only way I see working is flashing stock firmware and inserting another sim card at that point. A regular wipe wont work.
Also the international unlock doesn't allow it to work domestically, like with T-Mobile or Verizon.

Sprint locks the batch of phones they lease out. Just like anything you lease, it's not yours until you pay for it.

Only way Sprint will unlock the devices is after 50 days and it's paid off.

There has to be a way to unlock the phone through software. If they come unlocked out of the box before being activated, then it must be some sort of software switch.
This means that there must be a way to get the phone back to its out of the box state and have it unlock.
If there is anybody who can chime in on this and let me know otherwise it would be very much appreciated.

Actually, it's 50 days. The device needs to be active on the Sprint network for 50 days and also fully paid off. You can then request the unlock.
So if you got in on the Sprint flex lease deal and ended up with a Sprint locked phone, your options are:
1) Sell it as a Sprint locked device
2) Use it on Sprint for 50 days, then request the unlock
3) Keep haggling Sprint CS to try and get it unlocked before 50 days (some users have had success with this)
Sprint customer support says hell no. I spent all day trying. All DAY. I talked to over 12 reps with no solution
I originally have att... Went and signed up with Sprint to take advantage of their price... Paid my phone off... And got them to unlock it a day later... You do NOT need to have the phone on 50 day service to get it unlocked...
What I think may be happening with the different outcomes is how people talk to the support... I don't think it helps if you're aggressive or not friendly.... Or course, this is just my weak guess.... The support gave me no issues getting it unlocked but did ask if I was keeping the service still... Which I said yes, but to be honest, Sprint LTE is slow.... So now I dunno if I want to keep the service...

I didn't have issues either. I had it unlocked within 12 hours of receiving the phone. I'm assertive and speak like I know the rules, because I do. But I ALWAYS say yes sir or no sir, please, thank you, and talk to them like they're actual human beings. I almost never have issues with customer service.
