Axon 7: Differences between versions - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Morning all,
Can you tell me what the differences between the Chinese, USA and European versions are likely to be?
I need a new phone so that I can stop using my wife's old iPhone and had planned on getting the Axon 7.
But if the UK release isn't going to be until Q4 then I'd be looking into importing from China but I'd want to know what I'm likely to get.
Cheers, Patrick.

The only different will be LTE bands and Single or Dual SIM shouldn't be much differences between versions.

I would suggest to wait for us release and buy then. English and cheaper price are guaranteed

Will the US version be dual sim?
Sent from my HUAWEI MT7-TL10 using Tapatalk

There is nothing anywhere that lists specifications indicating that there is any single sim version. If there was one it would surely have been mentioned somewhere but I haven't seen anything.

This is a contract model and it works with the China Mobile's Sim card ONLY (or, stays at GSM only using other Sim). There is no way to unlocked the code, and of course, it does not work in NA. Unfortunate to hear.

I thought in one of your other threads you (getmobilephone) mentioned there might eventually be a rom unlocking the LTE for NA is that not the case??? I assume this is only a baseband software lock. Or is there actually a different modem chip?

Dear LuckyPunk
For obvious reasons, It is difficult to answer this question. However, let's give you one example here:
LG G3 offers several different models in China market, four models now and three more soon (using Qualcomm 805 instead of 801).
Among them, there are two models featuring Dual-Sim, one is China Mobile version aka D858 (TDD only), one is International version aka D857 (FDD & TDD). D858 is supposed that can only be compatible with China Mobile's TDD-LTE bands; however, by flashing D857'S ROM, D858 can use both FDD and TDD networks.
Two facts from here:
1. Flashing ROM unlocks the additional LTE bands.
2. D858 can support China Mobile and China Unicom's Sim by flashing ROM; however, it does not work with foreign SIM.
Contract-Free version makes things easier. We predict the Chinese and International versions of MT7-TL10 share the identical hardware. Flashing the international ROM very likely will enable the necessary LTE bands to work in NA.
Just an additional note here, the system RAM actually available for use is around 1.6 GB after the system starts, for 3/32 GB version. Think about this fact before you pull the trigger for 2/16 GB version.
Let us know if you have additional questions.

Well I was interested but thanks to getmobilephone for letting me know this phone will not work in the UK as it's not unlocked and locked in a Chinese contract. Unless that's not the case and it's unlocked and I can use it in the UK on any sim then I would be interested.

Mate 7 for European countries

Hello everyone
I have a question about lte band of Chinese version
On Huawei website, we can see that the mate 7 support FDD LTE band 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20/28. Todays, we can find the Chinese version for sell "limited" to bands 1,3,7.
But what I don't understand if the Chinese version got all band if you use it in another country or does it need a firmware mod to activate the other bands?
I need band 3,7 and 20... Can I buy a Chinese one or not? (2gig/16 would be good)
Thanks
This has been answer in our Q&A thread. Please take a look at recent discussion on this topic.

Forum member from Switzerland has reported that the Chinese TL10 works flawlessly and we will hear more news from EU user next week.:fingers-crossed:
And we highly recommend 3 GB RAM, or the premium version. You will notice significant difference when opening multiple APPS.
We will post a root instruction for xda community early next week so that it will be a more fun machine to have.

Hello!
I just came back from a trip to China. Bought my Mate 7 in Shanghai. Its the MT7-UL00 Version.
At the shop they told me it should work in Switzerland. They even installed the Play Store for me (good service).
At the Stop Over in Dubai I had no LTE. So I was a little worried. Now in Switzerland it looks like I have same LTE coverage like I had bevor with my LG G3.
Hope this helps you.

I bought the Gold TL10 version from ebay and had the international rom flashed on it. Works fine although i only get 3g hspa with tmobile (which is still pretty fast).
I want to unlock the 4g lte though like the TL09 versions so i cud see how fast the cat6 realli is. Regardless though, this phone is pretty fast to even be in 3g mode.
Can you buy the 3gb ram version from amazon fr?
Also how does warranty work on amazon fr? I live in the uk.
Thanks

It's amazon so warranty usually good if you buy from them. 3gb ram 2gb of ram wont matter much with the Chipset they are using. Feel confident that 2gb will be enough after all the video tests I have seen on YouTube. The 3gb is only the Chinese model which I would not purchase. Get the European model much safer bet.

Hey, I have my MT7 brought over from China. I am using it in the Czech Republic on Vodafone network. I can only get 2G connectivity. No 3G or LTE. in the Settings/Roaming Settings, it identifies my SIM card as "2G" only, and I cannot switch on 4G. I have a brand new nano SIM that should work with our local LTE.

You should inquiry before purchasing. The CL00 version, aka China TeleCom version, only recognizes their specific SIM, otherwise, locked at GSM only. Choose a reputable seller in the future.

Yeah I got this as a little gimmick to play with., but it certainly is a disappointment.
Do you think the CL00 version can be loaded with TL10 firmware? I can see CL00 and TL10 differ dramatically in the network and data connectivity support, and TL10 is what I need.

No. There is no way to unlock the SIM and flashing TL10 ROM will not work either. In addition, CL00 uses an additional chip for CDMA2000, which consumes more batteries (only 2/3 of battery life vs. other versions, stated by HUAWEI's website). If you consider TL10, we have Gold color version in stock.
We cannot help you on this version any more.

Differences between chinese and international

hi to all, i see flosmall and others start to sell chinese version of opo2, what are the differences? i know os is different, but i can install oxygen os to chinese one? there are others hw differences? thanks
Last year I ordered opo from china. You can unlock bootloader & flash oxygen os.All you have to confirm the bands match with the bands available in your country
Sent from my SM-N910G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can flash roms, but need to make sure the Bands are supported where you live. For the oneplus one people were able to unlock other bands. Maybe someone can unlock the bands on the Chinese version.
Chinese version is spied by chinese government. International is not.

It is dual sim, but apparently only has a single IMEI number, so can not be used with 2 sims outside China. Dual sim phones are pretty standard in China, they wouldn't remove such a key feature for that market.
The difference is the bands, especially 4G, and the OS. You can definitely flash OxygenOS as I have already done it. As for the bands, only time will tell.

The Chinese version is dual sim but only has 1 IMEI number hence outside China only one sim will work.
Can experts find a way to get over the same I know IMEI numbers are unique but there would be a way around it I am sure

The Chinese version will have very limited 4G compatibility in Europe and North America. More importantly, it only has one IMEI meaning you will not have dual-SIM capability outside of China. If you like having dual SIMs, do not buy the Chinese version.
So International version has 2 imei and dual sim support ?

buying le pro 3, some questions

I'm looking to buy this phone, but i am wondering which version should i get. I am going to use the phone in the philippines and i would need bands 3,7, and/or 41. Upon checking, the US version has bands 3 and 7. I dont really need the dual sim capability . Should i get the chinese/indian/eu variant instead? Also, where can i get this phone on the chinese market? because some articles say the 6/64gb variant is available for $299.
299$ is the price fixed by LEECO for the USA version (USA base band 4/64 mono sim) sold only at 2th November in USA in a short number of pieces, in bundle with three months free Leeco broadcasting service...(films and series in English?) You can get a better dual sim 6/64 worldwide baseband for less than 350$ everywhere...I should get for this version if I didn't live in Us

Thanks but $299 is already a stretch for me.If i could find the 6/64 or even the 4/64 international version for the same price, I would definitely get that.
Still kinda worried the US version doesnt have band 41, though my carrier uses 3,7, and 41.
I am thinking the dual sim 4/64 version for use in Europe.
I want to ask if the original Rom of this phone have Google play and if is safe?
When I say safe I mean without "backdoors" like other phones I had, oukitel k6000 pro, some Coolpads ets.
I asking just for original rom
The original Rom don't have the gplay store installed, and the software looks and feels safe, if u disable the Chinese bloat on it.
It's however very simple to install Google apps
Sent from my LEX720 using Tapatalk
the international band is either 4/32G or 6/64 G dual band ( same hardware as the Chinese domestic version). the band support: - see the attached
it comes with English Rom ( not Chinese apps at all) and google play store installed.
There is no international version at all. Only Chinese with worldwide band coverage, but Chinese apps. They don't bother at all and Google not installed. All the Google apps are already on the phone ready to be installed. US version is the only one which will have US bands and English software without Chinese apps. But it will be mono sim therefore the firmware of this version will not be compatible with the Chinese one. All other phones are equipped with no official firmware cooked by the shop that sells them. Some phone has 5.8.18s or 5.8.19s both are probably porting created by sellers from other Leeco firmwares not minded from leeco for the le pro 3...both have some bugs. The only official ROM, waiting the US version, is the Chinese 5.8.17s. Minded for the dual sim phone.

Which is the ideal version of the S8 to buy? Dual SIM international? Snap or Exynos?

Hi folks, I browsed this forum a few times and finally decided to make an account after all the wonderful information I've read here.
I realize there's probably no simple way to answer this question. But I'd like to buy the "best of the best" S8 I possibly can. I'm interested in the S8 specifically and not the S8 Plus. It's a phone I intend on keeping for a while, so long as nothing catastrophic happens. As such, I'm open to all possibilities.
I'm based in the USA but I would like to have the one with the most available bands to get the maximum availability on networks while traveling. I read on another thread that so far there are ways to unlock the bands in the firmware after flashing the Canadian firmware to the device. (I think this was referring to the Snapdragon North American version). But features such as Wifi Calling on T-Mobile won't work after that.
Because of carrier locks, it appears that certain models of phones only have certain bands enabled depending on which provider they were released for (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc). This is a bit of a problem, if for example, I wanted to use an AT&T phone on T-Mobile, or wanted to pop in a local SIM while traveling.
I'm presently on Verizon, but I'm not under contract and so I'm willing to switch to perhaps T-Mobile, AT&T, or whatever other GSM carriers are available. As such, CDMA capabilities aren't really a major issue for me. It would be nice, but not a deal breaker. I also get conflicting info where some sellers say their unlocked phones won't work for CDMA carriers; while others claim that the unlocked phones have all the CDMA capabilities unlocked as well.
I'm wondering also, if the Snapdragon or Exynos is preferable? The general consensus among developers seems to be that Exynos is preferable to Snapdragon when it comes to future mods, rootability, etc. What is the downside to Exynos?
Lastly, what do you think of the DUAL SIM version? My main reason for holding off on my purchase is debating whether I should get the dual SIM version or not. It would be a nice feature to have, for a phone I intended on setting up and keeping for a while. The only hesitation as far as this goes, is warranty coverage issues.
Would the international version have all the bands enabled? I've also read the Chinese and South Korean versions have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is pretty sweet.
Thanks!

Did you get your answers? I have same don't like doubts, specially related to processor and dual chip tech.
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
The only "downside" to the exynos version is the lack of CDMA support. It is superior in pretty much every other regard.
If you're considering a G950U.. I believe the AT&T model covers the most LTE bands. The Verizon version lists TDD LTE bands if those are useful to you. (But lacks other important bands)
To your question, the G950F/FD is likely your best bet.
Where do I found a list of models? I saw that in Brazil we have SM-G950, but what I see is here is only SM-G950F
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
I guess if you go with the exynos variant you will miss near fully playable gamecube/wii emulation. The exynos does other stuff better tho.
For the dual SIM variant, they have also just released a 6gb/128gb version, model number is SM-G9550. That's the best one you can get for the dual SIM variant: http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/business/business-products/mobile-device/smartphones/SM-G9550ZKGTGY.
Only downside is no Band 66 support though if you are planning to be on T-Mobile.

Hi, where can i buy the S8 Plus SM-G9550 (128GB, Snapdragon, 6GB Ram)?
thx in advance
Hi mate iv always preferred going for a G9xxF/FD version since They are Exynos in-case of Root or mods Exynos gets them first and if u get a FD added advantage of the dual sim. Good Luck
Hi codex1998, i don't need root and mods. My opinion is that the SM-G9550 is the better and most powerful phone.
Hi everyone, how about official firmware updates for different models ?
Is there any difference which models receives updates, which not ?
Some of my friends use different models and here is my statistic based on their phones:
s7 edge FD (dual sim): Android 7.0, last update August 2017,
note 8 (I believe its F model): 7.1 - August 2017,
s8 FD (dual sim) - 7.0 - Oct 2017,
2x s8+ FD (dual sim) - 7.0 Oct 2017.
