Try using Solid File explorer.
Note: If you don't give necessary storage access and permissions, your USB drive won't show up. It also won't enable data transfer.

Its doesn't work if your pendrive is formatted in NTFS. Format your pendrive in FAT32 FORMAT then try with es file explorer again..

I found the solution to this problem by using Solid File Explorer. First Install the solid file explorer and then install the solid explorer usb-otg plugin from play store. This will allow you to transfer files from internal storage to OTG-USB.
This will definitely work.
Hit thanks if it helped you

I know this is late but i just had this problem on my note 5.
Try installing / SandiskMemoryZone.Apk should let you move pics and files on your phone now.
Hit the thinks if this help anyone

Moto g4 plus stock file explorer can do it for you without any issues. It has much features that you can use.
For copying and moving from otg to internal or vice versa use the below steps:
1. Plug in your otg. A notification pops. Click on explore in the notification.
2. Now you can easily switch between your internal memory, sdcard, otg by using options..
3. You can easily copy and move files between the storages.

[Q] Can't copy big file from USB to extSD or PC to SD

Hi!
I'm trying to copy movie file (2GB) from USB stick to my Acer Iconia A500 using ES File Explorer. Copying starts but progress bar doesn't move and in a minute I get message "copying failed".
I tried:
USB stick (NTFS) to extSD
USB stick (NTFS) to SD
PC (NTFS) to extSD (via Wireless)
PC (NTFS) to SD (via Wireless)
USB stick (FAT32) to extSD
USB stick (FAT32) to SD
Then I tried HD File Manager and it copied my file in a minute!
What I'm doing wrong? Are there any special settings?
My Iconia is stock HC 3.2
Thanks in advance!
Try "File Manager HD" by Rhythm Software.
Thanks Nova5,
as I said I did try HD File Manager and it worked.
But I read that ES File Explorer is preferred choice for a lot of guys so I'd really like to know why I can't use it for copying files.
But I must admit I start liking HD File Manager

Is the only one that works reliably. I even paid for it.
Does File Manager HD support sFTP? It's the only reason I've stuck with ES File Explorer. I love the DLNA access, sFTP/FTPS support, Drop Box support etc.
No, only LAN Networked devices. But you can keep both . I use Root Explorer and File Manager HD.

Same here. Only two I use! +1
The only one I need is File Manager HD. I use Wifi File Explorere Pro to move data to it across wifi.

Need to download an app called nexus media importer to have full control.
Are you stock ?
What filesystem is on the card ?
6P seems to like only fat32 (though I haven't retested this with 6.0.1).

I have this same drive. I didn't need an extra app to have full control. I can r/w and copy files back and forth from es files explorer. What exactly does media importer do?
Not sure what the problem was but after flashing 6.0.1 it seems to be working fine....

It doesn't give you a folder when you insert the flash drive. If you go to settings in ES while the flash drive is inserted you should see a setting to enable USB. When you check that it will show up in the local tab of ES.

MM & Formatting an SD card as internal storage

Hi!,
I have a 16gb Moto X Style with a decently fast 64GBs sd card and have it formatted as internal memory (mostly so I can put all my spotify music on it without having to deal with workarounds on the ****ty app). Everything works great and I'm quite happy and all that but I've been having issues with transferring stuff back and forth between my computer and my phone from day one and want to know if it's common or if I'm doing something wrong.
My issues are this:
If I connect the phone to my computer via USB Windows recognizes it but I can't browse it's content. It's empty.
If I use an app like ES File Explorer to transfer files through wifi I can save stuff and browse it on the phone but if I transfer a rom and then boot to TWRP it's not accessible.
TWRP can't make nandroid backups at all.
Are all those side effects of the sd card being encrypted? Am I doing something wrong?.
Change USB mode to mtp

I'm having the exact same problem. I too formatted my 64gig sdcard and can not make back ups. I get error code 5 in twrp, unable to create back up folder. I also can't browse some folders, I use fx file explorer and when I open some folders they say access denied. I have given the app permissions as well. If anyone can help it'd be much appreciated!
Haven't figured it out yet. Also can not install busybox using any of the install locations

cannot transfer files from my phone to pendrive/HDD via OTG

I run nougat(nrd90m stock+ by tupac4u), I tried to transfer files from my phone to pendrive using otg it works but when I try to transfer files from my phone to the pendrive I get a message in es file explorer saying operation not supported but I can transfer some image or video files! I face same problem with computers running windows too where my devices doesn't show up as a storage device, it only connects with ADB interface!
Thanks in advance!

SanDisk Ultra Dual USB 16 GB - problem with accesing to storage from my Pure

Hello there.
So I am using Moto X Style with newest 6.0.1 (May patch). I found a nice price for a OTG usb memory, SanDisk Ultra Dual USB 3.0 with 16 GB of space. I ve got it formatted to FAT32 with default allocation unit using my Windows 10. When I connect this device to my phone - it is recognized correctly and I can acces it using built it file manager. As you know, this file manager really su*k in functionality, so for a daily use I am using ZArchiver or Solid Explorer without ANY problems. I am also using SD Card (SanDisk Ultra 32 GB UHS-1 with 48MB/s max speed of write) formated as external memory and yes, it works very well without any issues. I can copy any files from internal memory to it, and delete without problems.
Unfortunatelly, mentioned above Dual USB drive did not work properly with my phone. It is recognized by my phone well, I can acces memory using built-in file manager. But in any other application as ZArchiver or Solid Explorer (or many more) and problems are very random - I can write a data to it (creating a new catalogues, files, copying files from internal memory or from memory card), I can open files saved on it using Solid Explorer or built-in file manager, but I cannot delete files or archives or catalogues using ZArchiver and Solid Explorer. In ZArchiver notihing happens, in Solid Explorer I have an error mentioning, that file cannot be deleted (without any details).
Also there is no information about free space or all available space in ZArchiver and Solid Explorer - this data is available for my SD card...
On my Windows machine I can do whatever I want with this USB. Also on my Meizu M2 Note. So I just wondering if there is an issue with my phone olny, or with that Dual USB Drive...

It looks like something was changed now, but why? I am now able to delete files from my two USB stick (one is that mentioned earlier) using Solid Explorer 2.2.8. I am now on 7.0, and some time ago (still on 6.0.1) I perform a full system restore (from recovery). Maybe some system files were broken or changed, and now, after restoring (or after updating to Nougat) these files ale fixed now.
If you have a possibility, try to restore your phone. Otherwise wait for Nougat update, meanwhile use this application:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidkitchen.filemanager
I used it in needed of delete files from USB stick, while I cannot perform this action in other apps.
