U won't quit lol! And i seem to be answering all your questions on various threads! So u might wanna get a 2nd opinion[emoji14]
Heating issue: 4/10
Mostly heats in 3 scenarios
1) Playing high end games for 5-10 minutes or playing a graphic intensive but not so heavy duty game for over 30 minutes.
2) Using camera to take pics for more than 10-12 minutes with hdr on or 15-16 minutes with hdr off. Using camera to take videos with stabalizer on for more than 2 minutes and without stabalizer for more than 3-4 mins. (sometimes it crashes/fails to focus after 1 min if ur device is already warm from other activities)
3) While charging till 80% with the provided (turbo) charger. This is the only acceptable overheating as quick charging does produce a lot of heat.
Battery backup (6/10)
While i feel battery backup is not that great, i am giving 6 coz the quickcharge makes up for it. But imo moto g3 backup was better even with a smaller battery, but it didn't have a FHD screen and had an quad core so had lesser battery requirement.
Camera (2/10)
While the camera quality is great, it will be a cause of embarrassment for u coz u will not be able to use it for more than 10 mins while taking pics n 2-4 minutes while taking videos. So if u r a person who never takes videos for more than a minute or never clicks pics for more than 8-10 minutes then the rating goes up to 9/10. But for me personally it's like having a supercar that will not run for more than 2 kms without u stopping in the side of the road and pouring water in it.
Slow motion
Am yet to try it out extensively so can't rate. Seemed ok for a couple of 10 secs slo mo that i took. Though u need to be in a bright place or the video will come out super grainy, but thats acceptable i guess.
Charger heating:
If u mean does the charger heat while charging then the answer is no. It stays pretty cool. If u mean the device heating while charging, then yes it does heat up quite a bit, atleast till it reaches 80% but that's a trade-off for quick charging on all devices that have quick charge. So it's pretty normal.
Yes it does support volte, but only on sim 1. Sim 2 does not have 4g support and u can use only 3g or 2g on it. Hope it helped u...

I bought the phone on 27th may.. So probably had the update pre-installed. I read somewhere that people who bought it on launch day got the update, but i haven't got any since i bought the phone. Moto/lenovo is working on a camera update but not sure if it will be a system update or just a camera apk update.
And the camera ui crash n overheat issues still persist for me atleast so nothing has been fixed yet..

Sony Xperia Z2 Review [Goods and Bads, Antutu Benchmark Score, Photo Samples]

Im using the device since Tuesday and here are my findings about the device.
Lets start with the Goodies,
Once you hold the phone you know you have got a piece of unique quality phone. It is designed really nice. If I would trust myself I would never use a case for this device.
Battery life is amazing. Nobody can complain about the battery life of this phone unless they have a faulty battery. First day charged it for 4 hours and lasted me 1 day 16 hours. I totally drained my battery and fully charged it and lasted me 1 day 17 hours. (5 hours of screen time on both charges). I would give 10/10 on battery life thats for sure.
Camera is awesome. There are no words to describe to camera quality. I was really worried about the camera quality after seeing some silly pictures taken with the device. So many options to choose on camera. You definitely don't need a third party camera app for this phone.
Recorded some videos at 1080p quality. I can only say "wow". I was mirroring it on my 3D HDTV, everything is so clear. When you upload it to Youtube you dont get as good as quality you have in your phone. Do not judge the video quality of the camera at youtube or any other video uploading websites. They always trim your video and reduce the quality of the videos.
Full Album of photos taken at Botanic garden
Defocus background Mode Photo Samples
Manual Mode Photo Samples
4K Video Quality Sample
Screen, it is really nice and clear. I was also worried about the screen as someone said screen is really dim. That guy must be blind. On highest brightness you cannot even look at the screen cos its shining on your eyes . When it is sunny outside if the screen brightness is not at full you can hardly see the screen but if it is full its fine for me at least.
Sound quality is pretty good on both ways either on speakers or headphones. It can actually be too loud if you are watching good quality movie or listening good quality songs.
Antutu Benchmark Score and Comparisons
And the baddies.
Notification sound and vibration are so low. You can hardly hear your notifications. I have changed my whatsapp notification vibrate to long one still sometimes cant feel it. Hope they will fix it with an update.
Double touch to wake feature is not responsive. I was like tapping 10 times to wake the phone up where I supposed to tap twice. I just dont use it any more. Also I believe it drains the battery.
4K Video recording is out of sync. I believe that cos the screen has to be 4K to get the sync at the right time. It is quite pointless to record videos at 4K unless you have 4K TV.
Fingerprints on back glass I mean it gets dirty so easily I even tried that by washing my hands and after playing a wee while it leaves the fingerprints on the glass is annoying me. I have got a case that problem is sorted but still something could be done for it.
Charging battery is seems so slow to me, takes over 4 hours to fully charge. Not too sure if I have got a faulty charger or everyone is the time as me but it should be quicker in my opinion.
There is no restart button on power menu all the other phones have it. I have no idea why they never put restart button on the power menu.
So far I can say those things about the phone but I will update it when I find out new stuff.

When I recorded 4K video it was getting warm I did record quite small length of video though 38 seconds.
I think everybody has got that issue it warms up or overheat while recording 4K videos.
I did record 6 mins of 1080p video it was totally fine.
Call quality is really good even with headphones.

Yeah I forgot to add the battery life at goodies.
Battery life is amazing 1 day 17 hours it lasted me on second charge. On first charge was almost the same.
Judging from your response on the charging time, I believe the charger provided by Sony has a low current. Since Z2 has quick charge 2.0, get a stronger charging adapter to get a faster charging time.

I have yet to receive my Z2 so I am not entirely sure as to where you can get the charger unfortunately.
I believe quick charge 2.0 mean it supports up to more than (>) 4Amp current compare to the ones provided by sony which is 1.5A. This explains how Oppo Find 7 charge its latest flagship with 70% in just 30 minutes since it is provided with 4.5A charger.
.. I could be wrong though.

I've used double tap to wake a lot, it has never failed once so far. Maybe you accidentally putt glove mode on?
My battery lasted over 22 hours, with 38% left (5 hours 33 mins screen time). Battery charged from 38% to 90% in about an hour, used Sony charger (microsd).
I agree about the ring tone and notification volumes being too soft.

I have checked the glove mode which is off.
I have turned my double touch to wake function on again so far so good.
Can you tell me what model is your battery charger? is it same as mine? (you can see it above) My battery was charged 54 percent in one and half hour and my phone was off.

My charger looks smaller then yours, I couldn't take a clear picture of it ATM.
Charger EP880 1269-4154.1
TYPE AC-0401-AU
INPUT: 100-240V~ 300mA 50-60Hz
OUTPUT: 5.0 VDC=== 1500mA
PSM08AU-050S
S/N xxxxxxxxx
Made in China by Phihong
This difference seems to be the input, mine is 300mA while your's is 250mA and made in different places.
I would just like to add I have the same issue with the tap to wake functionality. Its intermittent at best.
I have noticed it happens when the phone has been idle for some time. It will take around 4 taps to wake the screen. Once you do it once, it will pretty much do it perfect every time repeatedly. That's as far as my trouble shooting has established so far.
It is definitely an issue though and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
Where did you get your Z2 from? Wasn't O2 by any chance?

I just woke up about 1 1/2 hours ago and the phone double tap on first try for me, have all the power saving options turned on. I am not saying it's not an issue, it's just not an issue for me because it has worked for me 100% of the times I've tried it. Not sure if I'm just lucky or if I'm some kind of double tap master.

Apologies, I wasn't implying everyone has the issue but it's definitely an issue for a large amount of people. There is a thread about it on the Sony forums. Nothing acknowledged as of yet though.

its fine after the initial attempt from a long idle period though. Who's using the official flip case? I am. I'm wondering if the felt against the surface could be causing some kind of weird problem. Clutching at straws but trying to find some common/uncommon ground.

after updating to 2.19.40.22

I am using the indian variant so my merits and demerits might vary .
Merits -
None till now....only the network stability improved
Demerits-
The phone lags
The battery has deprived than the previous version
The heating is now more prominent
I hope the phone gets 5.1.1 and get rid of all this problems
Many are whinning about the problem and some say the phone is working perfectly...... idk wats happening with my phone....
But still hope asus has some plans for this all
PEACE!!✌✌

Indian user here as well and on the 4gb variant no issues at all 3.5 hrs of sot in 11 hrs of medium heavy usage that too with 2000 songs and 10 movies on a 64gb card darn happy with the phone would love 5.1 though

You should not fast charge the phone and use it at the same time. Fast charge creates a lot of heat, which will cause the phone to slow down. If you have to use and charge at the same time, use a slow charger.
Each update seems to slightly improve things for me personally. Signal strength in former areas where weak has improved (LTE Discovery/Open Signal).

Heat

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Samsung Galaxy S9 stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Just got an S9 today, I agree about the heat. Though I've found using power saving modes cpu limiter helps a lot.
my device only gets warm when its in direct sunlight, otherwise its staying pretty cool, ive had some people in our groups talk about it too but what ive seen people say none had the issues you said, that sounds pretty serious, maybe ask around in our group, its in my signature

I use my phone plenty. My wife uses here S9 a WHOLE LOT. Neither of us have heat issues. I am pretty confident that it is because they are not Exynos based phones as it seems most (If not all) in this thread that are complaining about heat are Exynos phone owners.
Exynos based model here, heat is very reasonable especialy when I keep my good old s5+ in mind. During light tasks like whatsapp twitter or watching video's the phone doesn't noticbilly warm up. Browsing the web (for a long time) and some 2D Games make the phone heating up a little but nothing special. Playing some graphicly heavy games does warm the device up but I've so far even with longer gaming sesions never got my peformance dropped signicantly. It just kept peforming like it should. in contrary to my old galaxy s5 which would throttle it's gpu clock within 10 (mostly within 5!) minutes of playing a graphicly intensive game. The device would become very hot. Altough this one can also generate quite some heat if you really push it, but holds up way better with prolonged gaming sessions peformance wise. Really can't complain about it.

Ya, we are indeed rocking Snapdragon models. It really makes me wonder why Samsung even bothers with the Exynos. They either screw them up or don't support them or don't include LTE support (S3) and so on and so on...
I had my phone overheat once, to the point it's really burning to touch. It happened just awhile ago while outside and installing the gcam port which they said has working portrait mode, I tried it, it does not fc but it does not get the job done, and it only makes my phone lag. I guess the overheat came from that gcam and the outside environment. I couldnt help but restart my phone, now everything works normal again. S9 Exy.
Experiencing some heat issues recently . Restarted my phone and wipe cache partition everything works fie now.

Well, the heat exist only because you have hot weather like me here @ Greece. Today with 34 Celsius without A/C. the device was untouched.. after the first update (i buy it today lol)
But i use it 5-6 hours all the time with 4g open, facebook, messenger, instagram, a lot of videos and photos and device was perfect without heat or something..
Btw i left from my home at 19:00 with 86% battery and i came home with 14% at 23:00 I think it's perfect.

S9 Exy.

Same thing happened with me today after installing the gcam mod, restarting phone helps, everything became normal again... Also S9 Exynos user.
I'm a heavy gamer (Exynos Version). The phone heats up to 43 degrees Celsius (109.4 fahrenheit) when playing for about half an hour.
Why? Because in the middle east the temperature is already 36 degrees Celsius right now.

Mine still get the same as it did out of the box. I'm on OB10 with great battery life. I average 45-50 hours if I'm not on it all day I usually get 4-6 hour SOT and still have 15% or so at the end of the second day. But if I'm on it heavy all day I still get 4-5 hours SOT and not have to plug it in until I go to bed usually.
Pics are about 3 days old but for example..

To explain it better, your SOT says 6 hours from last full charge, and on your third picture it shows a charge from around 25% to 75% then you've discharged again to 7%. So the SOT was from the full charge and then and 50% charge in between. So that 6 hours of SOT was from about 118% of battery usage.
So yeah, that's good screen time.

Have you tried the Sky Dragon ASOP Rom? The battery life is amazing.
I charge once a day/night.
I normally get over 5 hours. Here are my stats right now.

Yeah that was when I plugged into usb to transfer files to the phone that day I think...But wasn't long and I get around the same with no plug ins give or take a few %. I haven't tried any custom roms yet, but I'm starting to get very tempted with what's posted now. That is one I want to try though.

Yeah, I've tried a few and Sky Dragon is the best yet. FP is working in it too, just do a full back up and you can always just go straight back.

Cool thanks for the info. I'm new to this A/B thing so I need to read up on it a little more and about doing the backups correctly because I've seen that is different also. But soon as I get time to sit down and play I'll be jumping into it!
When you do a backup it's just the current slot it backs up. As long as you've not got multiple users you'll be fine.

Just select all the partitions and swipe. If you have any apk installation files,or anything else you'd like to keep you can move then to your TWRP folder in data/media, then they will get backed up too.
Thank you everyone fir taking their time n dropping suggestion

Yeah the problem lies with multiple users and parallel apps, which the current TWRP doesn't support.

Nice....It does get good life with usage and looks like it would do a lot better sitting idle like when I'm working and hardly on my phone. If not better than what I'm getting on stock/beta. :good:

Plus I used fluid to download 1.6gb then x-cast to watch a film on my TV, which is quite a high usage app.
I've had the McLaren since December 2018 running stock. I've not noticed any decline in battery life since the phone was brand new. However, I do not rapid charge my phones in an effort to extend their battery life. The exception was when my Moto X was dying last year.
Typically at the end of the day, the McLaren has about 80% charge.

My phone is a work "tool". At the end of the day, unless someone calls, I rarely touch it after work. I can charge it on Friday night, and save for some streaming in the car on the weekend, maybe a phone call or two, by Sunday, it still has 20-30% left. During the day, I use it A LOT, for calls, text, web. Around 1500 minutes on the phone per month, but rarely do I exceed 70% usage.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
So let me be the first to write here . I am currently at 5:40 h SoT, 21 hours standby aaaand....52% left. Unbelievable. I come from Note 10 Plus, great phone, but that battery...just cant keep up..
Google services installed, 4G version, in Europe.

I am using note 10plus now before that is p 30 pro. Only one thing keep me want to switch to mate 30 pro is brattery.
So you are happy switch to from note 10 plus to mate 30 pro so far?:victory:
Well...photos are better definitely, battery doesnt evwn compare, but... Note 10 plus is evenly smooth, because all are "legal" and in place. Meaning that Google is there from the start, on the Mate you kinda have to make a Frankenstein, from pieces. Some things dont work and so on. It has innovation, like Huawei acustomed us with every phone. There are little things that you will miss if you make the switch, I dont know, like for instance swap left or right on a Contact to call or send sms. You know what I mean?
For me, SOT destroys all previous Huawei phones I've owned, including the P30P and M20P. 6 hour screen ontime = still 60% left even though it's not set to max/75% brightness...
The new 7nm+ CPU, bigger battery and maybe even Android 10's software optimizations just makes this (at the time of this post!) the most energy efficient and powerful Huawei phone to date.

No no , I mean you know, when you are on a contact on samsung, and you can swipe right or left for different actions. Those little trick you wont find on the Mate. For instance I miss all those. The little bubbles with Sms or Wtp notifications that appear over the other apps, and so on.

On the other hand, and sticking to the subject : now I have 1 day 13 hours standby 9:50 h SoT and 13% left.... Unreal )

Yes, GMS installed; for me its unusually good, because I know that I use my phones the same way. So this is double the Note10Plus for instance. I used it to watch videos a lot, some Youtube, some G Maps, some phone calls (not very much), I dont remember everything unfortunately, wifi or data on. I will post the detailed usage page as well next time.
I thought I'm hard user but I changed my mind after few photos I saw here ?
I totally agree that this mate 30 pro is the most energy efficient and powerful phone to date.
