Yeah mine gets hot too

It's expected, but this doesn't mean it's fine. It is due to the quick charging capability of the N6P, and this will shorten the phone's battery lifespan after a while.
If I were you, I'd use a "regular" charger when you're not in a hurry. For instance, my N6P stays cold when using my N5's 1.2A charger.

Interesting, thank you. I plug mine in when i wake at 6am and it's usually charged by just after 7. When i first got it, i was charging it all night, but realised i didn't need to do that. I'll dig out my Nexus 4 charger and use that occasionally for a slow overnight charge.

Actually, Google or Huawei or both of them f*cked all of us over because Nexus 6P does not actually have fast charging. A full charge to 100% takes about 90 minutes (which is pretty fast) but from 100% to full it takes another 30 minutes. So, it is kind of deceiving to max out to 100% fast and still draw power for another half an hour.

Any chargers with above 1000mA should be fine.
The stock charger is fast and phone get hot.

Hi people... i think that Samsung has got a little of troubles of making batteries and charging philosophies.
I has got two devices that are the last technology from samsung, the nexus s and the galaxy s2 right now.
The nexus s has got a very strange trouble (until now not fixed) that battery never reach full 100% state in charging. And much very very long charging time.
The Galaxy S2 reach 100% but takes too much time to charge. It's possibile that never one has think about modifying this?
Where we can start to mod this ? Inside the kernel? Inside bootloader?
I think it's not only a mine trouble
i think its the battery charger not the phone, which makes it so slow

anybody know a program or a system commands that can show how much amp is going to battery?
5 views, 4 replies, justshows how desperately we want this...
Mine finishes very quickly. about 1-2 hours when it's at 25 percent. And you cant fix charging. Remember that it is a big battery.
Ever tried using an adaptor for a device that has a lower rating than the adaptor? Ever heard that pop and the smell that follows?
Learn to be patient. Last thing you need is for the battery to blow up and destroy your phone.
protip: turn off your phone while you're charging with AC and not USB.
it could be your USB (and by extension, your PC) is not providing enough power to the USB ports. It happens.
My phone charges in 4 hours with AC when the phone is off. 5 when on.
6 hours on USB, phone off. 8 phone on.
It can be "fixed" in the kernel.
Samsung made it charge slower so that it charges better.
Faster charging = more heat = more dissipation, and potentially other problems.
Even though its a safety feature, its ridiculously slow. Phones takes AGES for a full charge.
these new phone are strange
my old i8910 HD charges full in like 30 min
and stays without a charge for 3+ days
Mine charges slower than htc but no too slow.. I'd say 2.5 hours full charge

Do you guys not get more than 3-4 hours of sleep?
Do you guys exhaust the battery to the point where the phone turns itself off before plugging it in?
Can you not plug your phone in before you go to bed?
I always plug my phone in before I go to bed (usually with 10-20% remaining) and I don't remember a time where I wake up in the morning and the phone isn't 100%.
I'm not trying to be cynical...just curious what other people's routines are when 3-4 hours to charge a phone becomes an issue.
A complaint like this wouldn't even cross my mind.
I need a faster charge too. Not because I'm impatient but because the phone can use more current then it can charge, especially during car navigation.

Well, the issue here is obvioisly not when sleeping (and yes I slept 3 hrs last noght and got a full charge...bit when on car or @ work, lunch time etc...those little precious weird moments u get in a daily basis when u arent using ur phone and got a charger at hand....maybe it would be possible to make an app which would allow toggling fast charging or slow charging, that way we could have both....fast ( on the run) and slow (night) modes....that would be really nice......but wait....winmo had this remember?

Why is my Galaxy S7 charging so slowly

Today I bought a Galaxy S7 Edge from T-Mobile and it is taking forever to charge and discharges if your using it while it's charging. To charge it, I need to turn off the screen and it rises by 1% every 45 mins. When I run Ampere, it says 50mA. Is this normal? I though fast charging isn't supposed to take 40 hours with the screen off...
How much do people normally get when they run the Ampere app?

Well, something is definitely wrong with your phone if it takes 40 hours to charge. I've would had it sent back.
But first, make sure you enabled fast charge
# Settings
# Battery
# fast charge
Second
Make sure your charger isn't broken.
See if you can test on another phone
If the charger is OK, and fast charge enabled
Deliver back phone and get a new one.
But most likely it's the charger I quess
Are you using the original cable/charger?

Yes, the white one that came with the phone, and charging it directly from the wall
There is definitely something wrong if it's taking that long. Try another charger. That way you will know if it's the phone or the charger. If it's the phone, I would get a replacement.

What's your mA on Ampere?
Im looking for The same answer. Mine do not pass The 1000 mark. Not sure if this is ok or not. My Nexus 6p is doing 1,700.
Be aware that QC fast charging is disabled when the screen is on.

Fast Charge 4-5hrs?

just wondering how's everyone fast charge is, back when i had my note 7 it usually only takes an hr and 15mins for the phone to get fully charge, even in use. I'm currently using the stock charger and I'm not happy for it

Yeah....., did you plug it in and immediately take that screen shot? Are you using the stock cable with it? And lastly does it say fast charging in the notification bar?
Mine takes roughly an hour and a half to go from 20ish% to 100%

My V20 charges crazy fast. There has been 2 times where It seemed to charge very slowly but I chalked it up to a likely bug or something. Other than those 2 times the device charges as it should, even when I'm using it providing the screen brightness isn't all the way up.

I will say if its charging slow make sure the usb end is plugged all the way in to the plug that goes in to the wall. I noticed this morning I was getting a slow charge and when looked at the connection it was not in all the way. Once I pushed it all the way in it started charging fast
Sent from my LG-H910 using Tapatalk
As a v10 user I can tell you that sometimes (even using factory charger and cable) it doesn't go into fast charge.
Unplug it and plug it back in the lock screen should state "fast charging.." not just "charging.."

V20 doesn't charge as fast when using while charging. I am guessing that is a firmware thing or intentional to protect from heat, which I rarely notice.

that's understandable... back in note 7 it gets pretty hot but never exploded or smoked... but note 7 in use while playing a game will still charge the phone in 2hrs...
for me its a really big difference coming from note 7
thanks for everyone's input
using note 7 charger is actually a lil faster than the stock.... as far for my experience

How long does your s8 take to charge full from around 5%?

I have the feeling my s8 doesnt really fast recharge even if it's enabled (i'm on 2nd charge now)... how long does it usually take you guys to charge it full when its very low, around 5%? And how long does it say it takes on the notification? Thanks!

Mine definately took longer to charge than that the 2nd time (the first one i was asleep so i dont know) and with fast charge. Does it matter which side you plug in the cable or it's the same? I'm getting worried.
The side of the cable does not matter. I normally charge my phone when it's about 15% and with normal charge it takes around 1h40. Next time I charge it around 5% I will check but I think it's about 1h50 to 2h. My S7 was definitely faster in charging.
Takes about 90 minutes with fast charge
Around an hour and 20-30 minutes, a bit slower when I'm using wireless fast charging.
Did you notice a substantial difference between normal charge and fast charge? Lat time I checked it was about 10 minutes difference until full charge. I expected more, it was much better on the S7.
I think that fast charging got capped by samsung after all the note 7 exploding battery horror stories. And it got capped at 2.45amp fast wired charging and around 1.35 with fast wireless charging since the nougat update on the galaxy s7. when it was around 2.8 fast wired and 1.8 fast wireless charging on MM
Beside the charging rate cap, the fone is much cooler while fast charging now as it used to get crazy hot reaching temps above 42c while now it never gets over 36.smthing.
So while its slower i guess its a much better bet for the battery health and your safety.
Normal wired charging didnt change between MM and nougat and its around 1.7~1.8amp
These are my findings using the s7 and s8 exynos international versions and the statments above are purely my own opinion and experience which could be different for everyone.
I noticed that mine never goes over 1060ma while charging using Ampere. It takes about 1 hour 40 minutes to "fast charge" but it is cooler than any other phone I've ever had while charging.
The sad thing is that it REALLY takes longer if you are using the phone, like barely increasing its %. I even tried changing cables, chargers and places but now I know I'm not alone and this is how it works.
I have an Exynos.

IMO ampere is crap and slow to report, you need an app that can report as fast as cpufloat. As once you turn on the screen the charging rate will default to ~1amp regardless of the charging mode your using and thats when ampere starts to measure.
Use cpu float for info at glance
Or
Use accubattery to even help you distnguish which charging cables your using gives you the best charging rate.
Hope this helps

Back when I had my Galaxy S4 I used "CurrentWidget: Battery" which was really nice but is not working anymore so I installed Ampere.
I just tried both apps you mentioned and both gave me the 1050am right away. I'll try later on since I was at 90% and if I remember thats the point where it starts to throttle down the current.
I like the AccuBattery 80% cycle though, not sure I can really use it since I prefer to go with a full battery for the entire day.
Thank you!
Mine takes around 1hr 30 mins , The other night i turned fast charge off as i was going to leave it charge throughout the night but i actually forgot i had turned it off and had been charging for a few days with fast charge off..... surprisingly i noticed no difference! It still took around the same time to charge haha

You hit it on the nose. They slowed it to avoid the whole exploding battery problems just to play it safe. Also why they didn't cram a bigger battery inside it to keep heat down.
They lost a lot of money because of that. The only thing that really saved them was that some iPhones were blowing up too

Bear in mind that the charging rate will default to 1050ma whenever the screen is turned on no matter what charging mode your using.
To use my method in cpufloat app, open the app n keep it floating on your screen. Turn of the screen for awhile ( lets say 5 seconds) and n turn the screen back on. You will have a split second to read the current before it updates to the 1050ma. ( you can slow the update rate in the app settings btw.
Accubattery will have 2 readings, charging rate when screen on, charging rate with screen off.

What other difference you want?
The charging issues on the Galaxy S8 seem to be widespread. I was hoping the most recent software update would help resolve these issues but it hasn't. Extremely slow charging (71% charged, 3 hrs 17 mins to 100%) and random connectivity (wireless charging paused) with Samsung's OEM wireless charger. What I've found with respect to the wireless issue, if I leave the phone on the charging pad after a few minutes it will eventually engage to a slow charge mode. Direct charging with the Samsung 2.0 Adaptive makes no difference, still a very slow charge. The normal Fast Charge Notification which should appear at the bottom of the display has never appeared and the tab remains grey in the Advanced Battery Settings even when enabled. Prior to purchasing the phone I had read and was advised by a Samsung tech the phone was suited to accept Qualcomm's 4+ Quick Charge. That seems unlikely at this point. Just got off a live chat with Samsung Support, not surprising the tech offered no solutions which I hadn't already experimented with. Booting up in Safe Mode to see if the app(s) were the problem, clearing system cache, app cache, using a variety of adaptives and cables, updating software, checking the C jack for connectivity. The S7 Edge I had previous to the S8+ was a great phone, no problems whatsoever. I honestly feel that Samsung is dragging their feet and haven't yet gotten their hands around these issues. Seriously, do they really want to experience another wide ranging battery concern? I think not. I can get a refund or replace the S8+ (SM-G955FD) but I'm wondering if the problems may be so widespread it could easily be an issue with the replacement phone. From the research I've done these issues are popping up on all models, regardless of the manufactures location.

Heating problem

Last night I've put my phone to charge until morning, and I've put the phone under a pillow because I have a one person bed and I don't want to hit it with my legs. In the morning, when I took the phone out....
The phone was extremely HOT! And I know where the parts are in this phone, and not the motherboard heatead up so much, the battery! I was so scared because this thing could explode in my hands or could've exploded last night.
Also, when I saw the phone the notification led was blinking blue, but after cooling the phone I couldn't see any notification. Is that a alert or something to say that your phone is hot?
I don't want to have a "note 7" clone when charging in my house.
I have this phone for just 6 months. Also the battery right now drops percent like per minute, really weak.
Does anyone had this problem too?
Here are screenshots:
Also, I am not using original charger because was too slow. I am using an 5V 2A charger. Now my battery stays at "normal" at 40C°

I have found this in my manual. I will keep my eyes all day on my phone and will see if I will go to the service or not.
But I have bootloader unlocked, the phone was disassembled before, the water indicator is red, so I'm going to have to pay.
It happened to me. One thing I noticed that my phone was in wake lock. It never happened to me again. I think I was using LOS 14 at that time.

Every phone has heating problems. Few days ago i readed some articles and that stated: consumers should remove the custom cases when charging the phone. Do not keep your phone while charging on surfaces that stores heat (eg. your pillow), and try to not keep your phone on charge overnight. Even if its at 35-45% you should leave it so and wake up 30 min earlier every morning and charge again if you need more battery. 100% charge its not a good idea.
Remember you cant change battery easy, removing the back case its a pain, try to take care of your device, or you gonna buy a new phone soon

Of course not......You are using 2A charger.....It would obviously heat your device up
and yes ......2 A charger won't help with speeding up charging it would burn your IC instead..Your phone won't take in more than 1 Amp thats a factory limit and can't be unlocked without a custom kernel but still it's not safe.. Don't use that charger .....It's a placeboo that it charges faster ?
