Xender File Transfer - Used it? - Onetouch Idol 3 General

Xender appears to be included in the marshmallow stock rom....after playing with it a bit and using it to transfer some TWRP backups from my phone to my pc it appears to work really well. Was curious what results others were getting?

I uninstalled it as I use OTG to get things on and off my phone to my pc. I think I might give it a shot if it's faster.

Xender works ok, I've been using AirDroid for a while with no issues, simple to use.

Works great for me. I can easily transfer files from my Chromebook and tablet. Fast speeds for me as well.

[Q] Access phone from tablet

So I just recently bought the Thrive not too long ago but I was really looking foward to accessing my phone from the tablet, unfortunately once i connect the phone through usb and enable file sharing the tablet just can't seem to discover the phone.
Has anyone gotten around this?
Have you tried Bluetooth?
That actually did work but keeps crashing the tablet, i'm pretty sure i'd be able to access the files through usb if i had an app that would simply give me the option to access the right directory.
I'm able to browse files fine through bluetooth but it's whem i transfer files that it crashes.
I'm using ES File Explorer to try this.
Try using WiFi File Explorer Pro. I have transferred 700 mb files between my Thrive and EVO 3D at Very Fast speeds! Works with zero problems.

Wow, I had given up on a solution, this solved everything!
Thank you so much!

Ways to transfer files from my Samsung NOTE-2 to Nexus 7

Not sure whats the trouble with my N7. My Win 8 laptop fails to see it in the MTP mode. It does see it sometimes if I change to PTP but then the data copying capabilities get limited.
I was trying to capitalize the "WiFi Direct" to move files from my Note-2 to N7 but looks like there as well are some problems. I can pair but I can't transfer no files.
Are there any options other than the USB OTG? I personally hate carrying extra stuff, however small it be. Since the phone would always be with me, its the most logical thing to carry all the data (have odd 40gigs available) on the phone and transfer to the N7 wherever the need be.
Anyone ?
Bluetooth?
If you don't want to go otg then I don't see any other option if wifi won't work.

Bluetooth is slower than a snail.
The issue is some frakked up rights issue. The devices pair fine via wifi. The transfer gets rolled down by some "Transfer not allowed" $hit. Even NFC doesn't seem to be complying.
I am very sure some custom ROM would get that fixed but then what is the point? I need pure google experience.
May be some app on play store?
In the worst case I'll sell this thing off. The Note-2 is good enough for most of my needs except for movie watching (and book reading (and internet browsing (and timely updates (and simplicity (and.....:silly))))

Good option while at my home but not when I am on the move. Transferring big files is again a hassle. Not to mention the data network dependency. I just need something which can workout directly between the Note-2 and N7.
Installhttp://fdmobileinventions.blogspot.com/p/fast-file-transfer.html on phone. It uses WiFi tether in your phone. On tablet to receive file(s) you need to connect to WiFi and enter link in browser. I bookmarked link for easy use.
No data connection on phone required.
I've used AirDroid to transfer files between two Nexus 7 tablets. They need to both be on the same WiFi network so it is not direct. Just install and start AirDroid on your Nexus. Then direct the browser on your Samsung to the web address and enter the password - both listed on the Nexus. Files can be transferred in either direction. No need to install AirDroid on the Samsung.
You can also connect your Nexus to your PC this way.
Nexus Media Importer is another possibility. It will import files from a flash drive to your Nexus over an OTG USB cable but will not transfer files from the Nexus to the flash drive.

Thanks to both of you but unfortunately thats not what I am looking at. I wish to have direct transfer, without needing any extra wifi router to be dependent upon. At home I have this Belkin N600 to which I can attach my 1TB USB drive and all the data is available over the network. Accessing stuff at home is not a problem. On the go, I don't have high speed internet or my LAN. Thats where I am seeking possibilities.

You haven't read well enough. You don't need WiFi router nor data conection with 'fast file transfer'. it uses wifi tether from your phone and sends files directly to your tab. Try it, its free.

Ultra slow wireless transfer.

Is anybody else experiencing pretty slow wireless transfers? I'm unsure whether it's just Samba on the Nexus 7 or what. I tried on two different LANs and both experience the same type of behavior. I'm toying around with a few different apps because I want to find a way to back up my tablet utilizing some sort of synchronize utility. That way I come home, open the app, hit sync, and bingo bango - done. Or else run a profile through Tasker so when I'm on my home wifi it sync's everything accordingly.
Problem is the transfer speed is just that braindead agonizingly slow it makes synching anything useless. 96 KB/s? Really? I left my Nexus run all night and I still woke up with it saying 15 hours remaining, and that was excluding music/videos/movie folders too...
I looked into rsync for Android, but I can't get it to connect quite yet. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Linux, rsync, and SSH keys are all familiar territory to me. I'll look into it a bit more, but even still, I find it mind boggling my speeds are this crazy slow with transferring over wifi via Samba.
Has anybody seen anything else like this? Or perhaps does anybody have an app that they use for wirelessly synchronizing their device in a backup fashion that they had better luck with?
I'm experiencing this problem too. Everything on Google Play, for example, is downloading very slow (4MB in more than 2 minutes sometimes) and the webpages are loading very slow. Everything is working very fast on my N7, excepting the internet. I explored many apps, but I didn't find a good one.

Wifi direct

If you are like me and have an S3 and a Note 10.1 but never really needed to transfer files between the two until later then read on. I wanted to transfer some music from my tablet to my phone without having to transfer to my laptop, then to my phone. So I did some digging and found a program called fast file transfer which sends files using port 8080 to any android device from another android device. It worked great.
But while digging around in my wifi settings I noticed this thing called wifi direct. I wondered what it was. So I turned it on, on both my phone and tablet, found the file I wanted to transfer and hit the share button. Then I told it to share via wifi direct and bada bing, bada boom, the file was transferred. Very cool. Far easier than fast file transfer. So I will use wifi direct for me and others with Note tablets or S3's and fast file transfer for the other non cool android people.
A bit of a newb moment? Maybe. But I never had the reason to use this particular feature until now. So I just thought I would share and throw this out there, maybe it could help someone else in the future. It was kind of fun to do also.

Well its news to me as its not something i ever bothered to look at in the past .
Useful to swap stuff phone tablet etc .

I found it awhile back much the same way you did and you are correct it is very good and reliable.
Athough WIFI DIRECT works very well with file transfers it is limited to files only. The solution to this limited ability I found is a app called Software Data Cable which allows you to transfer complete folders not just files. It can be found here

Thanks for the link, I will check it out.

This sounds like a use-case for a Wifi Direct file management app. I use HitcherNet to transfer files between my devices over Wifi Direct. It gets speeds up to 30 MB/s and is solid. You will have to check if your device is supported.

Lan transfer really slow after nougat upgrade

I am trying to copy files through LAN using ES file explorer and it is painfully slow.
That said, my wifi appear to be fast enough (I get 54Mbps up/down which means, it should write at few MB/s)
Does not matter whether I am writing to the internal storage or external storage.
Not just ES file explorer, midnight commander also is having an issue.
I am wondering whether Nougat upgrade breaks SMB access/stack for some reason.
Can someone confirm/verify?
Just checked and downloads from my cloud account is not affected so it isn't my SD card speed issue nor the wifi issue (I get solid 3.5MB/sec download from cloud).
Just tried to copy the same file on my windows tablet and I can do solid 7-8MB/sec transfer so it isn't the source speed either.
I just can't pinpoint what the issue may be. I can swear that the speed was just fine prior to Nougat upgrade.
BTW, when I say "painfully slow", it is like 2-300KB/s speed.
I just read that same thing was happening with Galaxy Note 7 as well. Very slow access to SMB/CIFS.
I enabled FTP access to my NAS and it is now transferring at around 9MB/sec.
I wonder why the SMB/CIFS access is slow.
