Just got the Nexus 6p, anyone choose this over the Moto X Pure? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I had a s7 edge which was lagging bad (came from the Moto G 3rd generation) and I just bought the Nexus 6p from bestbuy and was wondering if anyone took back the 6p for the Moto x pure or took back the pure to get the 6p. Please help me understand my purchase.

I chose the Nexus over the Moto. Reasons:
1. Development.
2. Updates.
3. Ease in unlocking/rooting/modifying.

This is getting weird. Like the weather, it seems.
Now we must justify the choices of others.

As soon as the Moto Z Force comes to Britain, I will be swapping my beloved 6p for it

Same reason I sold my Pure for the 6P. Definitely was a good choice IMO.

Is it possible that it's just weird to you? As I've been browsing the forum it seems like you jump in as soon as someone talks bad about this phone. Weird indeed.

Well guys I had the pure and it just seemed....washed out. But that was back when it was still on lollipop. I went from a G5 that ended up bricking itself after 1 day, to trading it for a v10 (I paid $300 cash for the g5 brand new at&t) and got $50 cash on top with v10 trade. The v10 had this weird white spot and a burn in type effect and I asked to return it to my guy for a s7 edge with cash on my end. So I gave him $100 and the v10 and got the s7 edge brand new. Typing on it was a b**** and it lagged to open the app drawer and I just hated how delayed everything was. So I sold the s7 edge for $500 and was torn between the Nexus 6p (never had one) or the Moto x. The local bestbuy had both phones but only the Moto x was on display. It seemed dim but it looked OK. The Nexus 6p was Google blocked so I was unable to test it. I read everywhere people pick the Moto x pure and I just got the Nexus 6p and it looks great.

It's nothing personal, I'm just fed up with the constant whining about irrelevant stuff. Just move on! Buy another phone!

i been using iphone 6s plus for about 4 months coming from an s6 and i love the iphone its a nice phone just boring lol anyway i ordered a 6p and its coming today! so im just excited to be here!

I switched from the Moto x pure. The nexus is so much faster, less awkward to hold, and flat back is great! Tempered screen protectors actually fit,the 6p feels much lighter weight, and that gold is gorgeous. I do miss the Moto speakers and expandable storage, but I wouldn't go back.

Has anyone ordered or is considering ordering a OnePlus 3? I just did, I figured what the hell. 15 day no questions asked return policy and they pay shipping back. I also didn't get charged any tax. $399 out the door.
Other than a 1080p screen, it has monster specs. I guess the phone junkie part of me isn't gone yet lol.
I figure I will simply return it if I'm not feeling it. Anyone else?

I had the OnePlus One for a week or so and had no problems whatsoever returning it. If anything I will just get PayPal involved. I'm not worried in the least about that.

That would be the exception to the rule, especially concerning the One. But if you're not worried I guess it's full steam ahead!

Since it's only $199...

Right now I have the S2, and I've been debating on getting the Moto X for the past month but with the N4 dropping down to only $199, I'm confused. On paper both very similar and I don't care about wifi calling, I don't need it. I could wait for the Nexus 5, whenever that drops, but I'm not down to spend $500-600 on a phone right now.
So, the Nexus 4 and the Moto X are very similar, so I should go with the Nexus 4, right?
Yes I would personally go with the N4 if I had to make the choice.
And thats because these factors.
1.N4 has a huge community
2.It's cheapers than the Moto X

Exactly, and cheap enough to have a great back up device if the N5 is so out of this world that I have to buy it. Besides, I won't ever buy from Tmobile ever since their stupid monthly installment plan came into play.

I actually owned one for like 2 weeks about 6 months ago but ended up returning it. Not because I didn't like it, but because I was dead set on getting the HTC One and couldn't see myself keeping this $350 phone AND buying another later down the line. But yea, gonna get the bumper with it since its a slippery bastard.

For me, N4 is still the obvious winner compared to any phone out there. $249 for an unsubsidized/unlocked phone is a steal. Even if the next Nexus comes out in two weeks, I still won't mind having spent $249 yesterday for the N4.
I was lucky; I FUBAR'd my original N4 just two days ago, then the price drop was announced the following day!

Should I buy a Nexus 6P?

I'm on Sprint.
So I have a Nexus 6 now, which is fine. But the curved back with its wobblyness on a desktop annoys the hell out of me, it's basically a top.. That's my main annoyance with this phone. That and the missing fingerprint reader.
Aside from that, has anyone switched devices and never wanted to go back?

Absolutely. I had the Nexus 6 before I got lucky enough to get a 6P. The 6P is hands down my favorite phone ever. I also own a Note 5 and have used many other phones for my job and nothing for me comes close to the 6P.

Actually that's where I work. Best Buy Mobile. While I have seen the 6P online (in gold at that), our store has not received a demo unit in store as of yet. I am hoping it will be soon though. I can't speak for other stores, but your best bet would be to go to the largest Best Buy in your area. If there isn't one there, ask a sales associate to look up if there are any available at a nearby store.

I've had both. Hard to beat the Nexus 6p. You have to ask yourself if it's worth the ~$250 price difference between what you can sell the 6 for and what you'll pay for the 6p. I found the camera alone made it worth it, not to mention the smoothness and beautiful design. Nexus 6 is a great, fast phone though. It was a tough decision but I find myself without any buyer's remorse.
I have both. It's not much of an upgrade for $500. The camera is way over rated vs the original Nexus 6. Battery life is almost identical for me on both phones with my usage pattern. I say unless you just must have the 6p because it's a nexus don't purchase the 6p. It has its fair share of flaws also. Id wait and get something with a snap dragon 820. Those phones will perform much better than the 6p. Also you can root something with the 820 and make it vanilla Android. I like nexus devices but this was over rated because it was a nexus with a camera that was over hyped. I like the phone but it's just not an upgrade over the original N6 unless you're basing it off of looks. I've taken many pictures with both at the same time and I feel the og 6 takes better photos and I've put the pictures on my computer to investigate for myself. I also have had 2 6ps at once and the photos were identical on those two as I was wondering if something was wrong with my camera. There wasn't. Point and shoot the og 6 takes better photos with much less noise especially inside where the 6p should be the clear winner. Of courses this is my opinion and there will be naysayers. But I'm giving you an honest review and have based it off of facts having both phones.
Idk I think aesthetically it looks better. Plus it doesn't spin like a top when you put it on a table...
For me the 6P is a great looking device, I've only had it a day, I'm giving my M9 back for it, I'm more than happy with it.
I've heard good and bad about the nexus 6 but only good from the 6P. Go for it

Why wait for it to be in store? If you want to test the software, it's essentially the same as your N6, only with an improved camera and a few minor differences. As for physicality, it's obviously easier to handle because the footprint is smaller in width, lighter, and flat (something you desire). Unless the lack of qi wireless charging is a deal breaker, the 6p seems to fit the bill in many ways.
The 6p is advertised to work on all major US carriers. Why not order one, try it out, then decide if you like it? Playing with one at the store doesn't give you a proper representation of how you use a phone in normal situations anyhow.
Had mine since early December 2015. No buyer's remorse at all. And this is coming from someone who refused to pay more than $200 for a phone for the past 4 years.

For me its the iPhone C to the S as the X is to the 6P. For me there's no comparison..if you'd like this in a smaller phone then I suppose the 5X would be the device to get, in all fairness, the performance is there as its an extremely well made OS.

Any comments from a Moto X pure user to this?

Like the title states, I have a friend thats interested in my current phone, a Moto X pure. Of course, if he buys it, thats less I have to fork out for a N6P. My question though...is it still worth it to move to this device with a new phone possibly due in 6 months? Its $399 at Best Buy right now, so I'd be buying this phone for roughly $200 and then a new case. Thoughts?
Tough call and personal choice. The new Nexus could be around $700?
Your $200 is nice for the Nexus6p and XDA well developed roms , mods, etc.

Isn't that what the current one costs? Usually new doesn't go down in price.
No matter how you cut it, the new Nexus is going to cost more. I think the best plan of attack would be to sell the X, and purchase a used 6p off of Swappa. It shouldn't cost too much that way, and the 6p will still be worth more when the new Nexus is released, so it won't cost a huge amount to upgrade then as well.
As far as making the switch from the X to the 6p, I highly suggest it. I made the same move, and am glad I did. I was concerned about not having an SD slot in the Nexus, but the 64gb model works fine for me, and battery life is superior to the Moto.
I would make the move to the 6P for that price. Honestly, I don't trust Lenovo now that they have taken over Motorola. I don't know if they will stay update the moto x pure to android N at a good pace or not? I had the moto x pure for a few weeks last october and overall it was a nice phone. good screen and awesome speakers but i didn't see alot of development for it so i made the move to the 6P. Now if regarding what the new nexus will cost in the fall who knows but this year a 32GB started at $499 which was a great price. the year before it was like 700 with motorola. if HTC is to make this years nexus who knows how much it will cost? if anything, I hope the pricing that was introduced last year will be same but we shall see

I've gone back three pages and didn't see another thread on this...I'm sure they exist but who wants to dig?
Anyway, I've owned two of these devices and had issues with both. The first one at launch was the plain aluminum, which I sent back because I wasn't happy with the feel. It felt "hollow" for lack of a better word. I don't know how to explain it; coming from the Nexus 6, I expected this solid aluminum beast like the HTC M7 when it came out.
The second one, a couple of months later, was the black, which had the weird pinkish screen hue going on. On top of that, when I bought a couple of different cases, the removal of said cases caused the phone to tweak and bend. But not bend as in bend test videos, rather if you took one hand and grabbed the top, other hand grabbed the bottom, and twisted it (top twist left and bottom twist right). My phone didn't sit flat on a table after that, so I returned it.
I've read around that some of the most recently manufactured units have a fixed screen, so I'm thinking about giving this a third try. I've since moved on to an iPhone 6s+, but still have my Nexus 5, 6 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.

I have a thread created here that is similar, OP.
I want this device as well, but instead of posing a question "Do I ..." I posed the question "Would YOU buy this phone again tomorrow"
The question really isn't whether there are good deals out there for this device, it's whether or not a year into this device people are still happy with it, and on XDA that's a hard thing to get a yes on..
There were some things that have come up with the best buy deal... For instance it's my understanding that if you buy from Best Buy you will only have Huawei's warranty and not Google's... Might make you look elsewhere?
Anyways... Good luck. Ill be picking mine up this week somewhere

I have a V10 that is not going away. I really am picking this phone up to satisfy my flashing needs, plus it's a nexus phone!!!
It will probably be something I use as a daily driver at some point... Maybe... I have 2 batteries for my V10, an external charger for the spare, and a 200gb SD card.. I can't see me choosing the 6P over the V10 to keep with me on the go, or with my sim in it ... That may change...

I bought mine @ Amazon/PrimeDay for $370/64gb plus tax with Prime free same day shipping, so keep checking Amazon website.
I sold mine S7 Edge, then bought HTC 10 which was a disaster (battery life literally was going down 4-5% when idle) and decided to use vanilla android. i see no difference in day to day use/look & feel compared to my previous phones

For me, the most important difference that I like is that Google's phones are updating more frequently (monthly now) than others. Official Nougat is just around the corner for Nexus phones but others have to wait!!!
Just picked up a Gold 64G for $350 privately. Good deal I thought.
BUY....no WAIT....no BUY.....no WAIT.....I'm not sure....what was the question again?
I just picked mine up from Best Buy today. Love it, I'm going for a marriage license.

I am thinking of going to a LG V20. First I will check to determine whether it might end up having a Verizonized Interface like the Note 7. I guess checking in with the V10 and G5 owners be a good indicator. If so, bye bye VZW! If we keep the Note 7s, we'll never see Nougat (or any update). I might even put up with the crappy resolution and go with an Iphone 7 plus (401 or 402 ppi .......Yeacccch!)
I'm hoping they'll let customers keep their note 7's as they're not going to refurb them, since it's being cancelled altogether.
I haven't been able to confirm nor deny whether it's possible to keep the note 7, but I'm hoping.

128gb Pixel XL in Silver just ordered. I'm done with phone swaps. I still keep the 2gb monthly bonus data. Unfortunately the Pixel isn't eligible for the Annual Upgrade Program which was a big part of why I bought the Note 7 knowing if it was poor it was only for 12 months. Did it online so they charged a 20 dollar upgrade fee. I will be calling tomorrow to get that refunded along with 35 bucks for the hand laid carbon fiber case I bought for the Note 7 that is now worthless... even as a paperweight lol. I'm also going to make sure I get the 300 dollar (over 24 months) credit for the Note 7 trade in and the Daydream Viewer. Even if I don't get the 35 bucks for the case I can sell the Gear VR, 256gb SD card and Fit 2.... It'll work out.

Is Verizon gonna credit me for the $65 case that I bought from Best Buy and the car charger, wireless charger and extra cables etc...? I doubt it. Thanks big red.

why would they if you bought them from best buy?
Was a rhetorical question really. I wouldn't expect V to refund me for something I bought elsewhere. Still sucks though. I sure hope Best Buy will honor a refund given the circumstances.
The thing that ticks me off is that the N7 had pretty much dominant specs when compared to other 2016 model phones/phablets but it is what it is.
What other modern phones (on vzw) are root friendly and have big ars screens? Was eyeballing the pixel but No MicroSD is a big bummer for me and who knows about rooting Android N (7.1) Moto Z looks pretty nice. Apple is NOT an option. Made that mistake already for 4years.

Nah. It's not. Close, but not the same. The s7 edge curved screen sucks too. The note 7 is better, but i dont like either one.

Same here
Moving to the Apple world.. Dont like anything else in Android world.. It feels like my favorite new puppy just passed away.. Feeling extremely sad, gloated.. How am I going to survive without stylus.? Beautiful camera, stunning screen and lots of productivity.
May be iphone plus 128 GB and Mr. Softy's Surface for its stylus. will help me tide over for a year till the Big Beautiful Samsung Note rises from ashes...
