Stuck in recover mode and power button not working - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone
lately i entered to recovery mode through adb but my power button is not working and when i remove the battery and plug it in and turn on the phone trough the charger and the battery it keep booting to recovery mode is there any way to get out of recovery mode without using the power button your help is really appreciated

Doesn't the recovery have a reboot option?
In case, your volume up button might also be stuck. The device can't enter recovery just with the power button.
Either that, or your OS is messed up.

I used adb terminal and enter it by mistake and my volumes button is working but the power button is not

Cant boot into recovery of fastboot mode

Hi,
I flashed TWRP and CM 10.1 but then I got problems with the phone not charging (still having that issue but will post it in another thread). Anyhow I decided to reflash the the stock rom and during the flash the phone randomly restarted. Luckily for me I was able to boot up and everything is working fine. the only problem is i can now longer access my system recovery (power and vol down) or fastboot mode (power and vol up). When trying power and vol down the phone starts up as normal. when trying power and vol up the phone vibrates, the bottom 3 keys light up and then nothing. I have to then hold down the power button to turn the phone off and back on. I hope someone can help me troubleshoot this as I have no idea what to do.
Many Thanks!

Recovery is accessed by volume up, volume down, and power held down simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds or until you see recovery. Not sure about fastboot. Have you tried to see if your in fastboot by using adb and checking for fastboot devices. You may be getting fastboot mode. I forget if it actually said anything on the screen. Good luck!

Can't get into recovery to save my life!

Guys, I'm wanting to get into recovery mode to wipe my Dalvik cache but for the life of me I can't get to it. I'm doing up+power+home and I go to screen saying 'Downloading do not restart target'. I guess this is download mode. How do I turn this off?
For kicks I tried down+power+home and it asks me if I want to enter download mode. Also tried up+down+power+home but this just does a normal boot.
I know this is probably something really basic but I just can't get in. I did have KingRoot installed a while back. Could this have caused the problem? Any help is greatly GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
Hold power and volume down, then press volume up when the OS warning screen appears = download mode.
Hold power and volume up = recovery.
Don't bother with the home button. You don't need it. Should the key combinations not work correctly, you may have bad buttons on the motherboard.
Thanks for the quick reply. I double-checked my volume buttons and they work as they should (up = louder; down = softer). I tried power + up and still get the download mode screen. I even tried adb to boot into recovery and it brings me to that same 'Downloading do not restart target' screen.
Prior to writing my post above I tested my S4 to make sure I was giving correct information. Both key sequences worked on my S4.
The only thing I can think of is that you have a hardware issue with your volume down button. To test, try pressing and holding power without touching a volume button. If you enter OS warning mode without pressing a volume button, then your volume down button is worn out and needs to be replaced.
My reasoning is this.
Button failures are the most common issue with the Galaxy S4.
You instantly enter download mode by pressing power and volume up while being unable to enter recovery at all. This means you're skipping a step in accessing download mode, which wouldn't happen if all the buttons were working correctly.
Maybe, but shouldn't my phone go into recovery when I send the command to enter recovery from adb? It just reboots and goes to downloading. My buttons work fine when using the phone when android is up so I'm doubting that it is a hardware issue.
It should, but something is interfering with that. I'd go back to stock using Odin, simply to ensure all parts of the firmware match. Then see if you can get into the stock recovery with the key combo. If you are able to, then you can restore TWRP and flash a custom ROM. Otherwise the device needs to be looked at.
Thanks for the reply. I'm running the stock os without root. All I really want to do is wipe Dalvik cache. Can I do that from adb?
Yep.

Hardware button don't work in bootloader?

Hey guys. I just got LG G6 H870 model. Unlocked bootloader without much problems, but issues came later. While being in bootloader I can't do anything, hardware buttons seem to not work. The only way to get out of bootloader is to use "fastboot reboot" command, but that prevents me from getting into custom recovery after flashing it. Only entering download mode works (holding volume up and plugin in usb cable). Non other key combination work until I boot into system.
Can this issue be somehow resolved?
I had similar problem myself with entering recovery more and the reason behind it was that I didn't press the button combo in proper way. what you actually have to do is while you in fastboot mode you press down and hold power button and volume down button. phone reboots after a moment and you should still be holding these keys and when lg logo appears you let go of power button for brief second and then press it back again and then when a prompt on white screen appears just go yes two times and phone shall boot in recovery mode . I had watch a tutorial movie to figure that out. other easy way is just to have adb enabled and reboot it with adb reboot recovery command via USB cable

No, because I had G5 and I know the proper way to do that. Problem is I can hold the power button as long as I live and the phone won't reboot, regardless of pressed combination or power button solo.
and the adb command way ?
Well... Nevermind, turns out vol down button isn't working at all.
still good way around is adb reboot recovery

Zte blade a7 2019 not getting into recovery mode

Hello i am trying to root my 1year old heavy used phone . I am Stuck at the very first step.
Also it should be mentioned that it got a little bit wet by rain someday and then the volume down button was stuck (not mechanicly) it forced the volume setting to zero and had no sound.
I soft reset it . Than no change. had a hard time getting into recovery but i finally got there somehow i dont remember how.
Then hard reset it.No change....
After one day the volume key fixed itself and everything is working fine.
now after one month i was curious if i could root it. But i am not able to get into bootloader state.
I tried everything.
Debug options and oem bootloader unlock switch enabled, usb debugging enabled.
Usb adb says no permission (serial n visible)
Entering Recovery mode at power off state by
Pressing vol up and power button gets normal boot everytime but much faster logo visible at about 3sec.
pressing power + vol down = it takes 25sec
Booting normal .. and the same happens when pressing both vol keys.
I am releasing the keys at zte logo visible everytime
Something was strange : one time when i was trying something it bootlooped 3 times and then it was safe mode.
could there something in the volume button be broken? but the button work fine. I dont know.
Thanks for reading
update:
ok the permissions was a linux issue(start the adb-daemon with su), i can use adb now on this phone,
i can boot it in recovery now, but cant boot into bootloader
adb reboot bootloader leads to normal boot
in recovery, the reboot into bootloader option also normal boot

Fix bootloop Galaxy Tab A 10.1 [SM-T510]

Hi, my device is boot-looping forever. I cannot enter recovery (I have TWRP installed). I cannot even switch it off.
What I have tried:
- normal switch off through power button (device is not switching off). It always restarts itself
- reboot to recovery (Power + Vol Up)
- reboot to bootloader (Power + Vol Down)
- force hard reset (Power + Vol Down for 7 seconds, then Power + Volume Up)
None is working.
Can I enter the recovery, maybe issuing some commands from a computer?
Any other option I could try?
Thanks!

No, the PC won't help. The trick is to hold power and vol down and as soon as the screen blanks, switch from VOL down to up, while keeping power button pressed. You have to be quick when switching or it will just bootloop again. And the cable shouldn't be plugged in.
Thanks, this helped. I recovered from the bootloop.
Hi, I'm stuck in bootloop too. The fix above isn't working for me. Could somebody discribe the process a bit differently please? Maybe I'm doing it wrong? What exactly is the time to switch from volume down to up?
My bootloop shows the Samsung logo then a warning about unlocked bootloader with prompt to press power and then the Samsung bootlogo again. Inbetween the screen turns of for a few seconds.
I was able to go to download mode by connecting the tablet to my pc and pressing vol + and - at the same time. Then I installed the nexus rom by Magendanz. Made a factory reset and format data in twrp. Everything is fine now.
