Asm mipi device fail! - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone.
I am currently using the N910G.
When I dialled *#0011# to get to the "Service Mode" I got the following saying that "ASM MIPI DEVICE FAIL".
But I am able to make phone calls and use data. The signal strength is very weak compared with my other Samsung devices on the same carrier.
Is the weak signal strength due to the "ASM MIPI DEVICE FAIL"?
Please help.

Replace FEMid?
There is no info on where to get parts or how to replace.
Also this issue can be software related to efs or csc corruption!

I don't have any signal and I have the same problem and error code. Mine just happened when the battery drained and shut down. I have an other device tho(J5 2015). Did you fix it?

Hi,
My problem was a bit different because it shows this sign on the notification bar that no service is available. Althought I fixed it, I am not sure if it will fix it for you too. Might be a different component or chip. I'm not going into detail here with my problem and my solution because I posted it already in the J5 forum and I will link it too, but basically what I did to fix it was to heat up the FEmid component. Before tempering with your device I suggest you make sure that it's completely a hardware issue. Also look for the pictures of the FEmid component for your device aswell. They should be on the site I found them (again look at my thread).
I hope you will fix your issue and I'm sorry for late respond.

Thx for the reply. I found it very useful.
@dma147
What kind of reply was that??? Useless and rude at best...
@saaduk
Anyway, search this forum, I remember a similar problem mentioned here. Otherwise try a hard reset and switch to a different radio rom. Sounds like somehow the software got corrupted?

Hermes Shutdown

Hi,
I have the HTC Hermes with AT&T service provider.
Recently I've been having trouble with the phone. It would randomly power off after being used for a few minutes. It also does this when I'm on the phone.
I tried flashing a new ROM on the phone, but that didn't seem to work either, not to mention whenever I would reset the phone, the battery would still be at a high percentage.
Does anyone know a fix for this? Thanks in advance.

Lg G2 No network, service disabled. with every simcard.

Hey, my LG g2 had water damage but happily worked after two weeks in the rice, now the only thing that's not working, (the rest works perfectly fine, even the battery) is the sim card reader, because the phone keeps telling me service disabled, I've tried several working simcards but it just doesn't work. Is this a broken simreader or a software error, and if its a broken simreader, would it be possible for my local phone repair shop to fix that?
Thanks in advance!
Bump
Most likely it's a hardware erro due to an electrical short caused by the water. If it worked fine before, then it is. You can always flash to stock to be sure. But my guess is harware damage.
BUMB Still have this error, people help please!

I also think Its possible to replace the simcard reader in your local shop, just go by and ask it first.

I did and they denied it because they said it might die because they could damage the printplate on the motherboard or something because of the water damage it had. other advise?

Hello everyone, my first post
My phone have similar malfunction but there was no water inside. The question is how your phone behaves? I mean that in my one every single function responsible for network is inactive (I cannot turn on data transmission whether chose preferred network mode). All those buttons are just inactive. I moved back to stock rom but same happens. How about yours?

I have the same intermittent problem. I took my G2 to the LG technical assistance and the diagnostic was a problem in the motherboard that would cost the price of a new smartphone.
In the youtube i found a solution, but I dont have the skill and the tools to do it.
In case you want to try: watch?v=AcdvkrtaLW0
Thanks but I have found that way of trying to repair it already... Now I have noticed that my G2 is loosing IMEI number... (ther is null). During another going back to stock rom I have found it out. For a while it was working but it stopped after a reset. Now I am struggling with solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701861
but stucked at step 5. I have MTP connection but QPST does not see my device. I tried all connections modes, some ports appears but QPST functions does not work (I suppose it needs to be MTP connection). I have also tried to solve my "sted 5 problem" as it is done here:
https://youtu.be/y2lHFy7AciE?t=413
But still QPST does not see phone on that port.
My question is that IMEI problem is caused by software or hardware? Is that possible that hardware issue can make it happens? I ask becasue I will try to correct soldering pads on that chip as newonmars says but this is the very last thing that I want to try.
EDIT:
After all software tries it does not bring any result. At the end I tried to work with hotair as it is in dinizariel link and it works perfectly. Thanks!

Null imei + baseband unknown.

Hi everyone ! I have been running cm12 5.0.1 for some weeks on my I9500 and now after i flashed stock firmware 4.4.2 i have no network signal, i can't make calls or receive and my imei is null. Any ideas ?
Just tell me 'the easy way' for that, i googled it and i found a lot of things but i can't use "EFS PRO" because it doesn't recognize my phone, i mean the phone is connected and it still says 'connect phone to continue'. -> I TRIED ADB off/on, 2 different cables, usb ports. ( Beside efs pro the phone is recognized without problem.)
Same issue as this?

you must search for a jtag service in your location
as antaresone says in their tool thread AntaresOne's IMEI backup/restore tool "if you lose IMEI and don't have a backup, you're lost"
But why does that happens ? I mean to Shivam Bhalla didn't do anything to his phone, and i flahed stock firmware, why would this happen?
I didn't backup imei before that, can i do something anymore ?
The solution is really simple, but I don't know if anyone is willing to help you anymore considering your last thread. You insulted some of the highest respected members here.
Eh, so what i may do now? I just want to know if i could do it by myself or it requires some special tools ? And is that expensive if i would take it to a service?
Wow no one is willing to help me for real, idk how i insulted them, it was just my suspicious personality about that CM, just soory if i insulted you, u may help me now 3,
Come on im just a retarded guy who wants to repair his phone.

Have you tried flashing Lollipop modem?
I didn't try anything yet. Anything to do before flashing a lolipop modem ? I have 4.4.2 kitkat.
I flashed this, it flashed in 00:02 seconds, the phone boot-up and nothing changed, same null imei and a lot of other problem .
I9500_UBUBMG9_MODEM.tar.md5 - can't attach, it says invalid file, it has around 15 MB

In this one post you...
1. Threw out a worthless apology and in the same sentence demanded help.
2. Played the disabled card.
I'm going to say, "you're screwed". If you don't understand how you insulted AntaresOne - a bigger crime than calling me "Mr. Impatient" - no amount of explaining will change that.

Send your S4 to the service center and pay for the repairs. Then keep that cost in mind as the consequence of insulting people who are trying to help you.

Note 3 N9005 Reception Issue

Hoping I can possibly gain some insight. The Note 3 I have had no other issues than a charging port had been broken off (wife was a little rough with it), and ended up having to replace the port itself. The port is the correct model and type for this phone, made sure of it. I factory reset the phone and I made sure to turn off the diagnostics for Samsung (since I know that can cause problems with cell phone reception). It worked for about....4 hours before it stopped finding the network. I did another factory reset and the signal came back. Am I going to have to continue to factory reset just to get service back? Or is there a workaround that I may or may not know about? The device is not rooted with the latest firmware (5.1.1 I believe), the APNs are correct, and the SIM works in other phones. I'm completely drawing a blank.
Possible loose connection inside the phone?
Possible wrong modem and CSC for your network .
But 4 hours working suggests lose connection or even faulty sim card .

I opened it up and checked the connections inside the phone itself, the wires are properly seated and tight. I'll flash a new modem with the proper CSC just to be safe.

The only way I know how to turn it off is that you have to factory reset the phone, and when you are in the initial startup (after selecting your WiFi) The very last option a Yes or No to send Diagnostic Data to Samsung. Don't know how to do it other than that method, if someone else knows, feel free to correct me here.

thanks for quick reply. yeah i have done that.
but i have issues with LTE reception. may be some other issue.
I also have the same problem!
GSM mode works, GSM/WCDMA has some failures, LTE/GSM/WCDMA has many problems! I have 1 bar or 0 bars all the time (while other phones with the same sim card have full bars).
I don't know if it is an antenna problem or really the main board problem (since software isn't an issue because I tried stock, cm based and note 5 port roms and everything has the same problem).
I'd like to troubleshoot things a little bit so I can get this repaired myself, anyone knowledgeble here so we can get our problem solved?
