This a port request to @LuK1337 @luca020400 @RukusX7 @nilac @imjohncarlo @rajlko @Fab2303 and anyone else capable of donating your time and effort to bring us something new and awesome. I think either would be a great choice, but those were on the front page today, so I thought they were great suggestions. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Lol if you knew my comp. Good ole Pentium D and a cheap AMD gpu because the onboard fried years ago...then there's the time I don't have to devote to it...hence this thread.
I only ask like this, because although I've very publicly disagreed with Cyanogen Inc in the past, you're work is good enough for me to eat my words and use it anyway. As a community, we appreciate what you guys do, and I just wanted to make a polite request. As always, if you can then you can, and if you can't, then you can't, but we appreciate you anyway.

I dont think @LuK1337 is gonna do it because he is much more interested in CM than stock/AOSP.He will remain on maintaining CM for the devices he built it for.
Also I once asked him about making AOSP from source using CM device tree and he told me that many things won't work on AOSP using it and there is no need to try it.So I guess until someone makes AOSP device trees for us, any such roms will not be possible.
also @LuK1337 will you please respond to me on hangouts ?

Nice.
And, apparently, OxygenOS isn't being open sourced after all. Just confusion caused by OnePlus updating some things on Github for the OnePlus 2. Bummer...

If I had that type of knowledge and patience I'd try myself.

LOL....they started CM7 without your help, starting from scratch and to my knowledge avoided referring to your "work"
And from the looks of it, they've accomplished more in 2 days than you had in weeks...
Oh, and this new thread isn't really necessary is it?

noobnl has done more for the epic than most people on this forum have, and only a handful of developers have contributed equal or more. most of the people who post here and make roms simply theme a few files and call it developing. what you need to understand that even though they have cm7 booting, noob had cm6 booting months ago, that isn't the hard part. the hard part is getting the radios and data to work, noob did this with help from very few people, and it took a long time (because he largely did it by himself minus help from skeeterslint forcystos and a few others) but so far not ONE other people have managed to accomplish this task.
:middlefinger:
I wish him the the best, and also we don't know what happened behind closed doors, metaphorically speaking. So lets just leave it at this.

You probably shouldn't run your mouth (fingers?) without learning a bit of history, not-so-ScientificOne. As others have stated, noobnl has contributed much of the early work that current development is built upon...
noobnl, thanks for the work you did to get us this far!
Appreciate your work man. I'm sure your sweat equity will be beneficial to everyone in getting this off the ground.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into both the CM6 project and the Epic as a whole. Your efforts have gotten us really far in this game. Even for the stuff you indirectly accomplished, like gaining the attention of some of the more seasoned devs, so that we could get more stuff done.
You're definitely a great resource and this community is better for it.
I hope I'm as cool as noobnl when I grow up.
+1 thanks.

My post may have been a little harsh, but obviously you don't know what you're talking about. In regards to CM7, the team of Dameon and others aren't relying on what noobnl has contributed. In fact, who do you think this blog post was aimed towards?
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/a-note-on-unofficial-ports-and-how-to-get-it-right
Dameon and others are trying to get it done the "right way".
It appears, to me at least, that noobnl is attempting (by starting this thread) to get some kind of credit for the work they're putting together, which is probably very little, if any. And if any, I'm sure he'll get the credit he deserves.
Sure, noobnl has done a lot for the community, I for one certainly appreciate it, but that's not what this thread is about now is it?
hmmm, so sounds like we have two dev-groups working on CM now because I'm pretty sure the recently announced group working on CM7 basically said straight up they had yet to even look at noobls progress bc it wasn't actually CM worthy and bc they started group up.
so using logic we can see that noobls 'transition' is to a different group. to bad he won't enlighten us on who that other group is. imagine that, half a statement that tells us not much at all and then some "look at me and what i did" statement, as usual.

[ROM][ICS] i9100 Android 4.0 port (For real!..)The General chat and Q&A section

Hi guys
As i said in the post in the thread in android development i thought i create this thread so all you guys can leave any messages you want to the devs who are trying to port ICS for us on our beloved S2...I am only doing this to help them out so that thread does not get to cluttered with thank you messages and people asking how long its going to take for it to port or saying stuff like it will nice to have it the weekend and stuff..
Leave all your messages good, bad(not rude though)or just pointless ones in here and leave that one for dev talk...So that way they can speed things up and then we will all enjoy a bit of ICS if we do it this way....
Ive got nothing to gain by doing this all i want is just like everyone else the ICS on our handset...But this way by opening this thread at least we can have our chats here than on the dev one..anyway happy chatting and leave what you want on here for the guys...
Enjoy
If you want to follow the progress of the porting over just click on this link to see the thread....But DO NOT and i mean DO NOT leave pointless messages there only ones that you think might help the team speed things up with getting ICS to us.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327600
EDIT:Looks like the guys have got stuck and they need the source to be able to carry on their work. I am no dev but if there is anyone who has been following my thread or the one linked to my post here please guys lend them a hand as they have been doing great strides to port it over....Much would be appreciated if anyone has more info to bring to the table and help the guys get back on track again..Many thanks
EDIT2:i have now put a link in my sig for people to read and to see if they know anything useful that they can come here and leave something useful for the devs that might help them get back on track with the project again...So if any of you know someone or you are that someone please follow the link above to the project and hopefully one of our devs can see the info..Or post it here and i try and pass over the messages...I am only doing this as i want to see the ICS as much as anyone on our handsets..so the more we can get involved the better
So just to be clear..If you have anything useful or helpful to say or give to our devs, either go to the above link and post your info or leave it here and i will try and either get them here to read it or i will PM them myself for you...Either way lets keep the project alive as we do not for sure when we will see ICS on the S2..thank you
EDIT3: Looks like the project is now dead since our devs have got stuck and need source now to carry on the work..Either way thanks to the guys for trying..
i will be the first one to say i want ics by the weekend.
Ehehe,
My thanks here ahahaha

Great idea for a thread - the other one was really getting cluttered with well meaning but ultimately useless posts. Pretty excited about this, and kudos to the devs for their hard work!
Noob question: Once we do have ICS compiled, if we wanted to flash one of the current modems (eg: on some Australian carriers, they need a specific modem to work), will that be compatible with 4.0?
just a question, i wanted to follow you on irc channel, but i can't see anybody... I put my pseudo, click join and now i can't do anything. If someone can help me ^^'

Sounds good but someone will take an unfair share ... so maybe if it went in to a single pot and then divided equally between them after a set period of time eg 2month
Ps, not saying I don't trust them all, but i just don't want any arguments between them

thats what i meant..one account or pot whatever you want to call it and then the amount shared equally amongst them..but how do you go about setting that up though?
Well we need someone trustable who could create an paypal account. Im sure all devs have an account. After a period of time the one we chose will transfer the same amount of money to the devs...or the devs create a team together with one account...or idk...there are alot of opportunities...we just need to find the best idea...

Samuaz, as a friendly advice; if you think the community does not give you appreciation or respect as much as you deserve, I honestly suggest that you discontinue work on your ROM'S, so people can understand your importance/value. I cannot donate to you because I myself don't have a job, thus there's no way in hell I can help you out, but I wish I could.
I have a lot of respect for you as I'm using your MeDroid CM7 ROM as my daily driver, and it works flawlessly; I can't thank you enough. Your ICS ROM was the most stable as well.
Just relax and enjoy your everyday life. Don't worry about unfinished work on your ROM's. It's all good.
All the best my friend!
i can unterstand this guy. Some guys really thinks its fun to compile android on a ATARI :/ I hope you will get something back from the community, and yes in this case every $ help. and yes, its sometimes the best way to show people how good something was if they losing it.
I for one am using samuaz ROM's for a long time now. I know a little bit of programming, and a little bit of android, and I can tell you that the amount(hours) of work he put in is huge.

Penetration Testing ROM-Testers Needed

Hello Everyone,
I am Tom Cr0w, owner of the Cr0w's Place and the Cr0w's Place YouTube Channel and I have developed a ROM for the HTC One that comes with the best apps and utilities for penetration Testing and anonymity.
Don't get too exited, it is not something fancy, it is stock ROM Zipaligned and DeOxeded with a little more customization. The thing is that I don't own an HTC One and if someone can test my ROM I will be glad. Keep in mind that is in very early face and I don't take responcibility for anything that happens. If you are intrested leave a commend bellow and i will provide you the link of my ROM and instructions in a PM.
Thank You...
I would like to test it buddy, but a word of warning, people don't look lightly on people who ask the community to test something be it a ROM, kernel etc on a device the OP doesn't own.

Looks like a nice idea mate. I have always used chrooted Backtrack on my droid for pentest's . Having a pentesting ROM and that too on ONE will be nice.
I am just trying to understand that is this ROM all about a STOCK ROM with some best of breed pentest apps pre-installed or you got some other features too ? If its just about collection of apps on and off playstore why not an AROMA package which any custom ROM can eventually use.
Apologies was not trying to challenge your idea and work but was just trying to think if the pentest collection can be leveraged/installed easliy on my existing setup..
Btw that please pass down the links of the ROM will love to give some feedback.

Hey everyone! Since XDA is a community-based forum, I want to hear your input on what ROMs those with the Qualcomm Moto E4 would like to see. I'm new to developing so I cannot 100% promise a fully working ROM right out of the gate, but I'll sure as heck give it a try because you gotta start somewhere, right? DotOS v1.2 is fully working other than the LTE CDMA issue due to LineageOS being the base, crDroid is almost 100% working after I solve the camera error, and in a few days after messing around with crDroid's cam I planned on attempting another Unofficial ROM for you guys. One final thing: Oreo device trees for the Perry model don't seem to be up yet, so as of right now please recommend Nougat ROMs.
Your efforts are much appreciated. However, I would suggest you build which ever ROM interests you. We previously had a dev here that asked which ROMs to build. He uploaded a bunch. Then when the ingrates started complaining about updates, broken features, etc... he pulled everything and closed his account. Things have been really slow for perry, so your ROMs are very welcome! I would rather you stick around than get aggravated and leave as well.
I'm on Verizon so I'd love to see anything that could support that. However I don't really need a custom ROM what with the xposed framework giving me all I need, but stock Oreo would be nice once that's possible.

Well I already compiled the two I use and enjoy the most on my other phones, I wouldn't mind building one more. Maybe I'll put up a poll
AospExtended (AEX) is my goto ROM when available and needed. That said, I will probably stick with stock on my rooted/unlocked XT1768 as Xposed provides access to essential customizations without having to go the custom ROM route.
haha if you were building for woods mediatek i would suggest tesla or ground zero roms ...aah well ..
since the qcom boys prefer xposed perhaps you can build blind for woods for practise ..

Once I get more familiar and comfortable with development I did plan on compiling a few things for the woods model. I'm also a part of the woods telegram group currently so I also have people who are willing to test

Dude, back off. Lol. You guys got enough. If we had lte on CDMA, more ppl would be jumping at it. Boost was giving these things away for $29. Best buy messed up and sent me 2 virgin mobile ones.

Bro, your work here is greatly appreciated. There are folks working on lte for CDMA. I'm sure your builds have already had tons of downloads.
I say don't get build happy and save some for others who might want to build and share something.?

So far only 1 other person has, and it's all gone. If someone was going to, they probably would by now. All are welcome. Especially if anyone has input on CDMA lte.

New people pop up for devices all the time. Especially when there are roms to build for them that haven't been done. Some of us are working on getting them fully working for everyone else. Just saying, it would be nice to not have all the good ones taken once that work is done. You shouldn't speak for everyone here. It is a community forum.

In my opinion, it was you trying to speak for everyone saying stop building. So, [email protected]
Dude didn't say he was going to build everything everyone suggested. He was just looking for suggestions

Ok, whatever. I guess you guys would rather have quantity than quality. I guess you guys are good. I'll just post what I was going to for owens and leave perry alone.

Sometimes I feel like the only adult here. Do what makes you happy. I do. Remember, we do this because we love it. The feeling of accomplishment when ppl use your build, and appreciate it. Some can even tolerate it when ppl just gripe because some abstract feature that only that one person uses is borked and they show no appreciation at all. Because they love it. As soon as you don't love doing it, stop. Before ya start to sound grandiose.
But what do I know. I build for myself and share privately.

Obviously the whole point of my first post went right over your head. I don't even know why you felt the need to respond to begin with, or to further instigate. I wasn't saying stop building, don't know why you assumed that. I was only saying don't get greedy, there are other people who would like to share their work and experience that "feeling of accomplishment when ppl use your build, and appreciate it" that you just mentioned. Troll much? Looks like the bat symbol goes out every time someone makes a post around here.
Edit: I even placed my vote for a rom. Only one other user has.
Edit-2: @fireball0093 I hope you don't misinterpret what I was saying. If you need any help with anything, feel free to PM me.?
