no screen backlight - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i know it's an old issues and few solutions are posted out there, but none worked for me.
symptoms: phone turns on with sound, vibration and top led, menu and back buttons all lit, but screen black, it even responds to touch from the sound it gives.
although, i noticed a way to bring the screen alive for sure is to plug usb cable to to charger then turn it on and screen comes alive.
i don't think it's hardware problem, or flex cable disconnected, because when it turns on it works flawlessly, and as many know dismantling the s5 to check is a real pain.
and if it's a software glitch, is the MM update that's coming out will fix it?
anyone with real knowledge of this issue and ow to fix it, please help!!!

flash stock using odin maybe? idk

Black screen on my P3600

Hello, I have a problem with my P3600: when I turn it on it remains on a black screen and does'nt go on, only the leds are flashing but the screen remains black. Sometimes (very often) it turn on completely but it's very very slow, I can't neither turn it on normally nor in bootloader mode. Do you have any suggestion? Thank you very much
Sounds like the flex cable may be loose. Do a search here, there are guides on how to disassemble Your phone and fix this issue.

[Q] black screen after calls

hi there,
i am getting a black screen after i call someone or they call me.
it must be the light sensor because putting it next to a bright light fixes it and the screen returns
i am using:
MDJ FroYo HD v.4.3 android rom
chuckysdroidrom
radio: 2.50.15
does anyone know how to fix this problem?
thanks
that's what happens to me too. I think it's the proximity sensor too
any thoughts on a fix?
I just started testing Android on my HD2 and I got the same effect. Even if I press the physical key to turn the screen on, nothing happens. My current solution is to connect the USB cable to charge the battery. The key comes back to life all of a sudden.
Unfortunately, this isn't a viable solution when you're far from your home plug :-D

Help. Atrix screen won't turn on

My Atrix's screen randomly stopped displaying anything. You can see that the backlight turns on and off but nothing ever displays. The screen isn't physically damaged and the touch sensor is also functioning just fine. If I plug it into my Lapdock - I can use the phone with no issues, I'll just never get any sort of display on the cellphone's screen (Outputs to Lapdock's screen just fine).
Any ideas or suggestions?
are you able to adjust screen settings when you're on lapdock? (and does this change anything?)
It does sound a hardware issue with your screen... maybe others on here can offer more help
Just tried playing around with the settings - no luck
Do you think maybe the display cable somehow disconnected? I'm not sure how the Atrix is designed but I think you'd normally have a separate cable for backlight, touch, and display. Maybe I'll try disassembling it and report back.

Q: Having a really big bug, wanting to know if this is anybody else

Hey guys, I've had my G2 for a couple weeks now, it's been great except for one thing. If I push down slightly on where the headphone jack / micro USB port is, the screen starts freaking out and pressing random buttons, until I turn the screen off and on. Anybody else getting this error ?

Can't confirm. You need to get a replacement
Never had that issue. Try doing it while the quickmemo is active and let us know what you see.
I believe there to be build quality issues, but I didn't see too many other people posting until you did. My first G2 was defective in that every time I plugged in to either the headphone jack or the USB port there was a chance the backlight would stop working. If I squeezed the LG logo it would start working again (note, the screen itself was fine and kept displaying an image and would respond to touch, but the backlight wouldn't illuminate the screen). There are probably a number of connections in that bottom area and it seems they're prone to failure. My replacement G2 is fine, though, and a Google search for my symptoms came up empty so it must not be widespread.

[Q] S4 i9505 boots up to black screen, no boot logo

Hey there, I'm having some serious trouble with my S4 i9505, I recently did a LCD and digitizer replacement, and the connectors are connected, but the phone boots up with a green screen (pic included) the blue led notification light turns on, and the boot up music plays, then the home row button backlights turn on, and it also makes notification sounds, so it's alive... but nothing visually so to speak. I've tried almost every troubleshoot suggestion under the sun; but to no avail. Anyone else out there who has experienced this and could give some insight as to a solution? Much appreciated, thanks.

If the connectors are connected then the screen is probably dead.

I doubt it, since the screen does flicker when I press the power button rapidly a few rings, and the LCD and digitizer are brand new, replacement parts I had ordered, so not sure what the underlying issue is... going to take it into a repair shop it seems.
