CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Interesting. Is the a version of cm13 on the way? Or other custom ROMs?

Ill try to finish a complete cm12.1 build and if this works well ill switch to cm13 if i find the binary blobs for Android 6 or if the old blobs works with MM

Excellent. Soon as I get a chance this evening I'll charge up the tablet and fastboot flash recovery your image.
Shocking to think a cheap Teclast tablet has had more use lately due to my ultratablet being essentially useless thanks to repeated freezes and occasional reboots. Shame really, as the physical device is fantastic. (I really should grab a logcat from the device to see what's causing the freezes but I've been busy with things and I suspect the logcat may not catch the problem. )

fastboot flash recovery 12.1-20160531-UNOFFICIAL-sk1wg_recovery.img gives the following error output
(I have to fastboot flash as root on ARCH.)

I, too, will test when available. Unlike TWRP or even CWM I've used in the past, the Cyanogenmod recovery does not seem to have the ability to perform a system backup. Is this something to be added or just do full backups via adb?
Thanks for all your hard work.

No cm recovery cant to backups, thats why i use cwm 6.0.5.1. I build it only for cm maybe is going official sometime.
As far as i know, twrp isnt posible, our device has the same limits like the Asus tf701t and there was never a twrp except a kang build. But i havent enough knowledge at the Moment, maybe after ive finished the cm build

No reason to apologize. Glad you are out of the hospital and hope it was not too serious. Insofar as your work on a ROM, we are grateful for your effort and in no way should you feel like you have to answer to anyone as to when the ROM will be available.

Thanks mate. Jide's kernel source is realy strange, they dont to it easy for their community to support custom roms. You've to change a lot in kernel config files only to build the recovery. Now im debugging why kernel wont Boot, maybe i need a null serial cable (usb to serial) to get some debug output to my host console (Linux).
Dont know if its serious for others and i dont know if its the correct definition in english, here in switzerland its called morbus crohn. But thanks for your support ?

Hi,
This is the XDA Assist section. The purpose of this section is to help a member navigate the site to look for their answers. You will have more luck asking your question in your device's Q&A section. Let me move this thread to the Samsung Galaxy S4 Q&A section for you.
One thing to check, is to make sure you flashed the correct ROM for your specific device.

1.Good gapps:
http://opengapps.org/
Use the arm.
2. Dont use Philz. Use the latest TWRP. Philz is not updated anymore. Using it can give you thing like not booting roms.
3 Always pick the latest CM. Pick the one in my signature or use the latest nightlies.

Custom Kernel Request for MM

We no longer have any custom kernel for z2 and z3,only advanced stock so im asking here:
If you are a dev and know how to compile a kernel - please try to make MM kernel with few most needed features for all of us who were using androplus kernel and really dont feel good on stock kernels.
Probably most people would like undervolting, one or two custom govs etc.We dont need all the great features of androplus kernel, just some of them..
There must be someone with enough skill to add some features to kernel, mayby our z2/3 community could get together and add some bounty for that.
Sony released the sources already:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/all-downloads/open-source-archive-for-23-5-a-0-570/
If you know how to compile but scared to test on your own phone, then im up for testing on my Z2.
Totally agree, best features would be underrvolting and one or two custom governors!
In great need of a custom kernel for MM. On the other hand, is it possible to keep LP kernel and flash MM ROM?
It is possible but MM wont work on LP kernel - different drivers etc.

Is it bootloop? Can a bootloopfix solve it?
No, MM differs a lot from LP on kernel side and there is no way to make MM run on LP kernel. What i meant before is that you can keep LP kernel on MM (you asked about it) but I totally didnt mean it will ever work

Meh its just a stock kernel with recovery, will do just right for some users but here we were talking about custom kernels, which give you more control over phone hardware.
I'm willing to create a custom kernel, I have some Linux background but I need help of course. I'm using this custom stock kernel for MM too. I just want the "zzmoove" governor on it, some underclock & overclock and QUICK CHARGE feature. I have the building environment set up, just need some help now.
Hear me, big brothers.
I know how to compile kernel from source, did it often with AndroPlus Kernel (to add QC), but I don't know how to add features to the kernel and how to fix stuffs and how to work with github...
Gesendet von meinem SM-T230 mit Tapatalk
Now I try to compile the kernel from source, getting nowhere with the Sony developer guide. It will be great if some one can shed some light on it.
I think we should invite AndroPlus or Myself5 to this thread, mayby together we could figure out something. If i remember correct there is a sort of a tutorial on androplus github but its not enough.Mayby creating a small chat group on whatsapp with some more expirienced kernel devs would do for you guys? I can try to ask a few about that.
On vacations I'll surely give it a try, lets better do it with Telegram, not everyone wants to give his number

Great! Conpiling the kernel from source is not that difficult, just to add features is not easy or fix bugs..
Gesendet von meinem D6503 mit Tapatalk
The kernel is not booting.
This might be difficult to debug since it doesn't seem to be from the kernel nor the ramdisk.
There is a xperia_readme inside Kernel folder. It says it's for C6543, not sure if that contribute to the issue of not booting.
I also just compiled the zImage. I just don't know where to get the ramdisk.img and commandline. Can someone help me out?
Hi, I think this would be a great idea, especially if the dev can add the multirom (kexec-hardboot patch) support.
Thanks

Why Jide wont release the Android Kernel Source

Ive opened a ticket requesting kernel source and device tree (both for Android not x86!)
But they wont, but why? Its GPL isnt it?

Google, dude. Google
Don't have my android device on hand, but I don't think the x86 kernel applies to Remix's android ROM. Shouldn't it be ARM?
And a look through the git repositories associated with the link show no activity for 5 months.

Thats a x86 kernel dude, i was asking for the arm kernel! The x86 kernel is incomplete several arm parts arent there! If you look inside the Android dir theres a ReadMe how you merge configs together and produce a .config file, but if i build it make fails with no wl drivers.
Cant jide do it a bit easier for custom roms?

That's strange... because the boot.img of the remix 2 rom is only 8mb, while the boot.img of the stock android 5 from teclast is 10 mb... Now I didn't compare the zImage [kernel] of both boot partition specificaly...
...For the Teclast x98 3g, the Remix kernel was clearly configured to prevent root access from adb, even by setting the 'ro.secure' and 'ro.debuggable' set to 1, while the original teclast kernel allowed it without any issue...
I had to install manually su binaries in the unpacked system image on my computer and fastboot it after repacking it to have root access.
On the Remix 2/x98 plus, i used the stock teclast kernel and rooted without issue, but it seems to me [I don't remember well] that the remix 2 boot.img didn't allow, once again, adb root access...
So, if it's not the kernel, where is the difference ?

The difference might be in the ramdisk (if they actually use something like that). Try unpacking the boot.img and see if there is something (other than a zImage).

I would say most of the thing lies in selinux configuration, in the kernel, or maybe the way they implemented adb.

Anyone already building kernel?

Now that the kernel sources are open sourced, is anyone already building kernel?
On my noname china tablet the following is not working:
* Camera
* Bluetooth (rtk8723 from realtek)
