Anyone have any experience with using CVEs? (Finding root for ALL G5s) - LG G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

If there is anyone who has any experience or information about CVEs it would be MUCH appreciated. From my searches it seems that the only way to root the variants without unlockable bootloaders...
Please discuss ANY information that you may have on this. @autoprime would be especially helpful

I have a feeling that H831 will never get root.

Rooting Help

Im new to android and would like to root my Galaxy s5 running 4.4.4. I have tried the towelroot application and it says device not supported. I have tried the various modstrings and none of those work. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You didnt specify your model, but it seems like you are on a verizon or at&t model based on your android version, theres model specific forums for those with plenty of guides, please let us know of your model, and i can give you the link if you cant find it.

Have a rooted SM-G900V on Android 5.0 ... Need better kernel

I come from rooted HTC phones, and need some help. Samsung Verizon version seems particular. I am looking for better or best battery life, in comparison to my current kernel. Please see screenshots. Thanks!
As far as I know you can't flash custom kernels on the G900V, sorry :/

Verizon versions have locked bootloaders, no way to install custom recovery, so too bad.

Before telling other people to do research before posting - why not take some of your own advice

Verizon bootloader has been unlocked for days now

It's been unlocked as a proof of concept as part of private research, that is not released and for the masses its still locked.

Quadrooter Vulnerability {Possible Non-Engboot Root Method?}

Was browsing earlier today and came across this "Quadrooter" issue in Qualcomm chipsets. Any devs think this could be a way to achieve root without using the Engineering Bootloader?
http://blog.checkpoint.com/2016/08/07/quadrooter/
This looks to be promising and may be just what I need. The engboot works but the kernel is sh!t with an actual root we could use the kernel that is better optimized for our s7's. I haven't found any aio rooting apps that have been updated to use these exploits though but all 4 are vulnerable on our s7's.

Whatever happened to this?

Good question. First I've heard of root with the s7 and edge with this exploit being out there. Has no development looked at this?

jcase basically said it wouldn't be possible to achieve anything other than temp-root from this so the community dismissed it.
But with temp root couldn't you use the nexus bootloader unlocker to unlock your bootloader from on the phone? Then use that to gain full root?

How can i root my SM-G900v 6.0.1 Verizon?

I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S5 model SM-G900V with android 6.0.1 kernel 3.4.0, Build number mmb29m.g900vvrs2dqd1. Now i have read and read threw many posts here and i don't have a HUGE knowledge of what some of them things to do are. I Have rooted many phones before tho.
Is there a safe way to Root this phone? Can you please explain it step by step for me? Thank you very much guys!!!!
You might want to start here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=71202995 . Though I am not sure if there is a rooted version of the QD1 update you have. You might ask around for that.

Root for US Cellular V20?

Hi all. I have tried searching and looking through posts here but haven't been able to find anything specific for this.
I am thinking about upgrading to the V20 but the one thing holding me back right now is root.
I am not really interested in custom roms and don't really think I would need twrp. I would just be looking for stock but rooted.
I have seen several posts for the unlocked US996 and the mentions that they are not interchangeable, but nothing for the US Cellular version root yet. Has anyone tried root for it yet or know if it will ever be available?
Thanks.
