developer options - Sprint HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I have enabled the developer options on my htc 10. Inside the menu there is a box that says oem unlocking does anyone know what this does??? I am assuming if you check it it unlocks your phone??? Just wanted to see if anyone knew before I started checking boxes. Thanks,

it enables you to un lock your bootloader via htcdev.com, does nothing by itself.

OK thanks have used htcdev before just never remember seeing that option. Didn't know if it was as simple as checking that to unlock

OEM Unlocking switch exists in Developer options!

Hey everyone,
I just received my ZTE Axon 7 from Newegg and have been poking around in the software. After enabling the Developer Options section in the phone, I noticed there is a setting to enable OEM Unlocking. I don't know if this means the phone can be unlocked and rooted already, but I am hopeful someone will figure out how to use it.
You could always try the "fastboot oem unlock" command. Although based on the company's statements I doubt that would work.
or
fastboot flashing unlock
Chinese model has same option, both commands didn't work regardless. The option is just something Google has put in, but oems need to implement it.
I thought I had read the chinese model didn't have that option in Developer Options, so I got a little excited

I know it was there on 12A. Also if you are on VS995 Verizon, why do you need OEM Unlock. I don't remember seeing anywhere in the dirtysanta instructions that you need to do OEM unlock.
I have checked on both firmware available for the vs995..neither has it as an option.
The instructions don't say to check oem unlock ..but they also don't say to make sure the phone is in debug mode either. ...and every dirtysanta tutorial I looked up had oem unlock and debug as prerequisites except for the xda tut...
...I tried rooting and got all the way to step 3 but twrp would not let me format the data ...I'll try one more time before heading to sleep.
We don't have OEM UNLOCK on Verizon V20. Did you finish the dirtysanta successfully?

my suggestion would be to ask for help in the dirtysanta thread, you will get more help there
That's a good suggestion but it wouldn't let me post in that forum... I should have enough posts now though...
I was able to go through all of the steps and get twrp and booted up but root checker says no root access
Verizon removed that option from the menu. No Verizon V20 has it. That being said--it isn't needed if you follow the dirty santa instructions.

oem unlocking disabled

I am trying to unlock HTC 10 sprint bootloader this evening.
Already enabled developer options but oem unlocking is completely greyed out
Please what other options do I have?
I just installed the stock nougat (android 7) RUU because I was about to install the New ViperRom and also just noticed that its greyed out but its marked checked. Any luck figuring out issue?
FYI just searched and another thread said "Yes the option is grayed out on 7.0 if your bootloader is already unlocked."
My phone was already HTC dev unlocked by me when I was running 6.

Fastboot oem unlock waiting for any device

Hello:
I am trying to follow the instructions to unlock the bootloader on my Sprint G900P Galaxy S5.
I installed the ADB SDK, the Samsung USB driver, turned on USB debugging on my phone, and connected it to my computer.
I typed adb reboot bootloader and the phone rebooted into a screen to download software to it.
Next, I typed fastboot oem unlock and I get a message on the screen < waiting for any device >
and it does nothing.
This is strange because obviously the computer was able to send the adb command to the phone so there is communication.
Why would is stop at the fastboot step?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Neil
Ummm dude your booloader is already unlocked since it's from Sprint. You just go into your Dev options and toggle on OEM UNLOCK and your all set

I went to Google Play Store and installed the Root Checker by Clivin Inc.
When I ran the app, it says: Your device is not rooted
I am not sure where to go from here.

Hi,
Just wondering what are you going to achieve ...
1. Don't bother with any "oem unlock" options as there is no any in your phone model. Your bootloader is uncloked by default and that's it.
2. Rooting is different story - if you didn't root your device yet then the root checkers will tell you exactly this -> so you need to root your phone to get different reply

I did not realize that. Thanks for the info.
I used the SkipSoft Unified Toolkit to root the device.
Thanks,
Neil

Huawei Nova 3i.. OEM Unlock and Root?

I'm quite interested in buying this device (Nova 3i), but it's very important to me that i can root it.
I've noticed that the option "OEM Unlock" is not greyed out, and can be easily enabled, at least in the devices that are sold in my country.
So the question is:
Is it enought to enable "OEM Unlock" in "Developer Options" from the phone settings to unlock the bootloader and I can simply install TWRP afterthat?
Or do I still have to unlock it using unlock key from Huawei Website (which is unavailable)?
And if not, is there any other way to root it? Has anyone had luck in rooting it (e.g. Kingroot, etc)?
Thanks in advance.
