[GAPPS] Calendar app question

I have a simple question.
I wanted to know why most gapps packages out there dont include the new Calendar app with the blue icon?
The only gapps package that does is from ParanoidAndroid

It's in the play store
gapps, are Google apps that are not part of the playstore and not downloadable from google.
gapps are apps like:
Market
Camera
Wallet
Panorama in camera
etc
Are there any more that I am missing?

Yeah I know but then I have two calendar apps and the old "green icon" one causes some kind of conflict with the colors I set for events

Then how would I go about getting the new calendar on CM10.1 instead of the old without having both?

Just disable what you don't think you'll need, but avoid disabling system-ui and stuff like that
Here is my list:
Chrome
Google Play Books
Google Play Magazines
Google Play Games
Google Search
Google+
Hangouts
Life Suare
Life Square Log Manager
Slide aside
Voice Mate
VuTalk
And I removed several applications like the dictionary and translation along with the live wallpapers that came with the phone
Hope this helps

[No Root] Useful Apps (Stock Messaging, Lightbulb, Facebook Messenger)

Decided to make a post of useful Apps (with Nexus 5 in mind) that don't require root. I personally use these on a daily basis and haven't ran into any issues. Please report back if you do encounter any problems. Also please keep in mind, these are intended for those running stock 4.4.4 and are not rooted. As always, use at your own risk.
Messaging com.android.mms.apk
Android Stock Text Messaging (The "Attachment" menu has Sound Recorder "com.android.soundrecorder.apk" actions, highly recommend to install this as well)
Lightbulb com.paranoid.lightbulb.apk
Standard Torch
Facebook Messenger com.facebook.orca.apk
Installing this dummy apk tricks Facebook into letting you use Facebook's internal messenger without the need of the separate Messenger app. Please uninstall Messenger before installing.
CyanogenMod File Manager com.cyanogenmod.filemanager.apk
Basic File Manager
Just FYI, the stock messaging app is nice but try this one out. It's based of the stock messaging app but has a lot of additional features. It's really the best SMS app I have used.

I don't understand what the Facebook apk does. How is it different to the normal one?

Facebook is disabling the chat in it's main app and asks you to download it's separate Messaging app. This lets you restore the messaging functionally inside the main app. You can Google "facebook forcing users to download messenger" if you need to know more.

Is anything truly secure? This simply is a dummy apk that I compiled. It requires no permissions and you should never see it running. Facebook does a check to see if you have the Messenger package "com.facebook.orca" installed. This dummy apk contains the same package name and tricks Facebook. That is all!
That facebook apk is a godsend, THANK YOU!!
Thanks! I was looking for the Lightbulb and the Cyanogenmod file manager
Facebook messenger don't work anymore.
Can you fix it? Thanks

Dark theme for apps in Android 10

Am I the only one facing issues with the Android 10 dark theme not working on multiple number of google and other apps?
I have been reading articles about how changing the system wide theme to dark changes many apps into dark mode as well. Like Google, Discover Feed, Gmail, Play Store and Instagram(from today on wards).
But none of those have changed into dark mode for me. I have changed the system wide theme to 'dark' and wallpaper as well and restarted the phone as well but no changes yet.
If anyone knows the solution kindly let me know.

To my understanding, the apps have to have built-in support for the dark theme/mode. Google is gradually rolling out the updates for its apps, including the Google app, Gmail and Play Store. I got the update for the Google app, which now fully supports the dark mode for all conponents (Discover feed, Assistant, Search), but not for Gmail (even though I am on Gmail beta program) or Play Store yet. So, I guess this will take some time to complete the rollout...

Question About RCS

I'm not sure which messages app I am supposed to set as default to get RCS enabled. Neither one say Google anywhere, and all I have to differentiate the two are the icons. Can anyone tell me which one is "official" from Google so I can try to get RCS working?

The blue icon one is the google one.
Thanks mate. Any idea how to uninstall the update on that app?

Google Message is a user app, not a system one you uninstall it but can't donwgrade. To downgrade it's more complicated your must uninstall completely and download a previous version on Apkmirror for example, but I don't see the point of downgrading.
