S7 Edge or Note 5? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

I want to know that does edge screen really matter or not? Should I consider the edge (almost same in size as Note 5 is) better than Note 5?

As far I have knowledge, it is worth to own a S Pen instead of focusing edge panels., but you please give some solid suggestions with solid reason.

You can have the Edge features if you root the Note5.
S-pen is entirely up to you. Some people love it, some never use it. I used it for about a week and never touched it again.

You can have the Edge features if you root the Note5. but i prefer s7 edge

I would recommend you S7 Edge. I own both and I have to say that the s7 edge has a far better battery. It can give me 2 days while note 5 cannot give even 1 full day. Also, waterproofness and micro sd is a huge plus for me.

i bet s7e

I have both and while I love the S-Pen for me the addition of being waterproof and having the Micro SD slot override it. If The Note 6 is waterproof (not likely) and has Micro SD capability all bets are off.

It's the S-Pen that really makes the difference on the Note series and that, unfortunately, can't be ported.

The S6 plus =/= Note 5.
Forbes has stated that there is a rumour that the Note 5 may have a removable glass back cover. If that is true then the user replaceable battery and microSDCard slot should may stay with the Note 5. As for the S6 Plus , I think that will replace the Note Edge from last year.

Titanium?
No honestly, Samsung is just looking what customers will pay ... for me, glas is a no-go...why change something that is already perfect (at least for me). Metal will easily bend, glas is just stupid and everything else is just to expensive. So keep the plastic, it does the job for less money and it just feels better in the hand.

Because nexus comes with removable back and SD card !!!!?
Seriously? S Pen is still one of the reasons for me to stay in the Samsung camp, but if they're taking away the removable battery, I might consider a change to something like LG.
There are lots of reasons I chose the Note 4. Three of the most important were the S-Pen, the micro SD slot and most importantly the removable battery. Without that replaceable battery the choice might come down to the S-Pen on the next Note vs the quicker upgrades of the next Nexus device or the replaceable battery/micro SD slot of the next LG flagship.
Whatever my next phone will be, it won't be a Samsung just because it's Samsung, it will have to have the strongest set of compromises for my particular needs on the market at the time.

Same here. Dissapointed with the note 5 because of the restrictions.

Should I buy a S6?

So I guess some of you got a S6 by now so that is why I thought I should ask if you miss any of the features the Note 4 has or better put, what advantages you feel you got by running the S6 as a daily phone.

Aiiie!
You'd best get used to running around with a charger!
i tried the down-switch, it doesn't work. It's no faster than the Note 4, the pictures are no better, you can't save work to an sdCard and just carry the sdCard to whatever other machine you're using, you have to carry your entire phone and marry it to whatever other machine and that causes problems, you lose the S-pen and the big screen.... There's nothing there, trust me.
If you'd gone S6 first, you'd be fine but going backward, you. Will. Hate. It.
Trust me.
The very first time you find yourself looking for an outlet before noon and realizing you don't have your fast charger.....

I personally don't see the appeal. It looks nice, sure, but I don't think it's a huge step up from the Note 4. Plus, again personally, I bought the Note mainly for the big screen and the S-Pen, so I don't see me giving that up. But that's just me. If you feel the S6 would suit you better, then, by all means, go for it!

i have been using s6 edge and exynos note 4 for months here is my small review;
screen they are almost same for me.
camera both are even on daylight , at night s6 is better
with same apps and almost identical usage i get 3.5 hour sot on s6 , 6 hours on note 4
for me they are pretty much same on speed too whenever you check side by side app opening and browser speed etc. they are both faster than my s805 note edge.
general performance and stablity is abit different. note 4 is definetly more stable for me atleast you can know where it slows down( like camera to gallery switch and multitasking button) s6 is weird multitasking is totaly dead 1 app at a time, its slow on camera to gallery aswell but multitasking button is generally fast but it can slow down sometimes too.
ui looking is almost same also small differences here and there in addition to that there is themes.
finally, if you are s805 note 4 user maybe you can switch for abit better performance but other than that just go for note 5 or stick with note 4 if the size is ok for you.
Not sure why anyone with a Note 4 would want to upgrade to the S6. Still no AOSP for it, so you're doomed to slow Touchwiz so it will perform worse than a note 4 running AOSP. And like pointed out, who would want to give up the bigger screen ? That's probably the reason most people bought the Note 4 in the first place.
The s-pen, I never use myself, wouldnt care much about losing that though, but the screen would be a downgrade for me. And running Touchwiz of course too
Yeah i kind of agree... @gekkehenkie11 your support on cm12 is highly appreciated
no more samsung phone again.
they dont care about android updates.
I just swapped my S6 Edge (I use for 1 month) with my wife Note 4 Exynos.
The s6 E body is great and handy but screen is very small compare to Note 4.
S6 or S6 Edge + worth waiting? :fingers-crossed:
No not buy!! Bad battery!!!

S6 edge vs note 4

Hi guys
My father bought an galaxy s6 edge and told me that if I wanted to have it he would change it with my note 4,I don't know what to do is the change worth it or should I keep my phone ?
My phone is rooted I won't root the s6 edge
If you are having to ask then my 1st assumption is that you do not have any use for the larger screen and SPen? So I would say yes, go ahead and swap

Not really both phone have there pros and cons the I'm not using the s-pen that much but I love the screen because I watch all my series and movies from my phone. I will probably keep my phone but another question performance is not that much different with both phones or?

A friend of mine has a S6 Edge, and it is a bit faster than the Note 4, but not by much.
Its certainly not enough to swap. His Note 4 was stolen at gunpoint during an attempted carjacking. He got the S6 Edge to try out while waiting for the Note5, but he is hating the S6 Edge battery life, he says it is rubbish compare to what his Note 4 could achieve.
Is your Note 4 lagging? If so, maybe try do a hard reset, see how you feel after that then decide.
IMO, the Note 4 is a far better allround device than the S6 Edge.

S6 is way faster to open apps and smoothness seems to be better. I suppose game will be a lot better on S6.
On the other side, S6 has a RAM managment problem and apps in background are killed agressively by the system. Battery life is also far better on the Note 4.

Thanks for both of your answers I will probably stick with my note 4. It is not laggy I'm really satisfied with it's performance. One last question it is not an important aspect for me only asking out of curiosity the camera of the s6 edge is a little bit better then the note 4 right?

Yep. Camera in the S6 Edge is a step better than the Note 4, although they both use the same IMX240 Sensor.

Night shot will be significantly better on S6 but in good light both are comparable.
Note that camera software is better on S6 with RAW support and more manual control.

Anyone Upgrading to S7 Edge?

I sold my Verizon Note 4 on Swappa in less than a day, so I preordered the S7 Edge, I saw it at Best Buy first before I made the decision, it's an incredible phone. I didn't want to wait for the Note 6 and don't use the S pen much, and was waiting for SD storage to return and the S7 Edge fits the bill. Definitely excited but have to us an old Galaxy S3 for two weeks now.

Yeah, screen is tiny and battery is crap, but its my original, unlocked bootloader, rooted, running Android 4.3 , you forget how many improvements have been made to both Android and Touchwiz since the S3, the Edge can't come soon enough..
I just can't go back to a smaller screen anymore. My note 2 and now this the 4 spoiled me.
I almost never use the s pen. Only once in a blue moon for a novelty.
I don't like the edge phones since I can't put an otterbox on them.
So I'll wait until the note 6 comes out and if that looks good I'll pick one of them up. Or just keep my note 4 which is still going strong. Heck, my Droid x and s3 are still kicking and used everyday. I put that s3 trough nearly a new rom a week, sometimes 2 a week.
I can't go backwards on screen size. I'm anxiously awaiting a 6" or larger screen. Who knows if I'll leave Verizon for it. The only thing coming to Verizon that has a six inch screen is the HP Elite x3 (Windows Phone). I may considerate it. ( I use such few apps, I won't really miss any of them on Android.) I rarely use the S-Pen to be honest and screen and camera are what I consider the most important.
I wish HTC would make a decent phone again. I'm not sure if I can play the waiting for Samsung Updates Game again.
No, I like the big screen! I am waiting for the note 6 in the fall, or for something better for me along the way. I am excited the Micro Sd card is back, and hope it is in the note 6. I really wish the battery was exchangeable. So as I say, I am watching for something that would fulfill my needs. I am kind of waiting to see what the upgrade to the LG V10 might be I kind of liked that phone also. Ohh and Root-able would be nice I missed that with the Note 4 Argg Samsung and Verizon!
The sd card is a moot point since Samsung has disabled the adoptable storage feature. They are most likely to limit the memory on all future phones with 32gb because it's their marketing strategy. Thus still limiting the app memory to 32 gb minus the system & bloat space. I personally am done with Samsung.

@outcasted2003 basically your saying their like the HTC touch diamond but with an Android os .
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
I know nothing about HTC but Samsung is shooting themselves in the foot with their new marketing strategies. They want to be like Apple it seems. The new GS7 is nothing more than a GS6 with waterproofing, little bit bigger battery and a basically useless sd card slot to expand the internal memory.

Hi, can you update how are you feeling when you get the phone. From 5.7 inch to 5.5 inch screen, I am also using note 4 and plan to upgrade to s7 edge but I am not sure if that .2 inch will be a big difference.

I went and played with one at Best Buy, screen size difference is very nominal, however, the S7 Edge is a much smaller footprint (overall size), which is nice, as the Note 4 was big.
I personally hate going backwards in screen size for any reason. I still prefer a phone with a removable battery and if it must be a fixed battery I'd ideally like 4,000mAh+. Also, 32GB as the only storage variant was fine in 2014 but not in 2016 for a flagship. Finally, I'm bummed about no Type-C connector. If the Note 4 addresses all of the above concerns while still packing a microSD slot and launching Type-C support (remember, the Note 3 introduced USB 3.0 support back in 2013) then I'll make the jump. Until then I am hoping that the combination of Marshmallow (eventually) and a new 128GB microSD card can keep my Note 4 functional at least through this year.
I'm with ya hkklife. I was so keen on the upcoming LG G5 with its metal body and replaceable battery and SD card. But then I saw they went to from a 5.5in screen to a 5.3in screen. Now I need to rethink things.
Maybe when it does hit stores and I hold it in my hands, I'll feel different but going backwards in screen size is not something I want to do either.

Are you gonna upgrade Note 5 to Galaxy S7?

Just a quick survey to find out if and why
No. Only things better on S7 is IP68 and microSD slot. It will be great to see this in N6.
For the moment for me N5 is better than S7
Nope, none of the new features are a must have for me

- Better screen (size, quality and power consumption)
- Faster and better battery life
- I definitely prefer samsung bloarware

How is Marshmellow treating you?
It's a marketing strategy game, nothing is so that amazing with the S7/edge just few upgrades to the S6 which were on the S5, they are bringing back the old features to attract customers, and thats gonna happen to the note 6, micro sd, bigger battery capacity and maybe IP68
Nope. S pen and screen size. Will wait for Note 6

Yep Note 5 camera stand tall, nothing to be ashamed off. i would like to test the S7 Edge personally to see how camera perform in low light, then probably wait for Note 6 as it will have 4000mah at least.
No
I ordered an S7 edge, but keeping my note 5 too.
I am looking forward to the smaller screen in the S7 - I am not a huge fan of large phones though. Water resistance is also something I will use, so that's welcome.

Going to the S7 Edge because of the change to the Snapdragon processor. Should mean universal Rom support with AOSP & Cyanogen based development.

Yep switching to the S7 Edge for the snapdragon and hopes for asop and roms.
I absolutely love my Note 5 but that S7 edge is damn sexy. I'm really tempted but I think I'll try and wait for the Note 6.
Unfair poll, if it was a note 6 vs our beloved note 5 with outstanding features built in the upcoming note, our votes would be mixed then. I don't see much added value in switching to a lower powered version of my phone. Without a pen.
