Lumia 950XL strange behavior - Microsoft Lumia 950/950 XL

I bought lumia 950XL when it was first released. At that time it was only sold through Microsoft store online. I found out that when I turn the power off, the 3 on screen navigation key turn on then battery become hot, the 3 key stay light up, and I have to keep hold the power key to force the phone tunn on again, then battery drop almost 3-4 percent in less than 2 minutes, at that rate 30 minutes would down 20-30%. I contacted support and they told it could be a hardware problem and at time Microsoft halted sales because of untold hardware problem, only option is return the handset.
I couldn't wait so I bought one ebay. It is a HK version single sim. I found the same problem again. I contacted support and they said it is HK version not supported in US. HK supported I have to ship it to HK shipping then send to repair center. The problem there is not only high shipping cost, the process would take long time.
Last week I went to a Microsoft store in a mall. I told them the problem, and they nicely give me new US unit and took my HK version. At the store the phone was charging use charger from the box, the has no problem.
This time again the I found same problem on the 3rd unit.
This is really strange. At home, I always charge the phone on PC use this cable came with a USB type C hard drive enclosure. I charged the phone with charger come with box, the phone would turn off completely, battery stay cold. I don't know what happened. Then I used the USB cable from the box, plug on PC, the phone would turn off completely no problem.
The phone behave like this because of the cable or it designed this way? or is it bug?
any suggestion ??

X10a wont turn on !

MY phone died the other night and wouldn't charge. It blinks red when plugged in and will blink numerous times when you press power. Sometime when its plugged in and i press power it will only blink red once.
Its rooted with 024. Im screwed eh?
Also im with Rogers in Canada
I vaguely remember having this sort of problem before.
What was happening was the cable wasn't working properly for some reason, and my phone wasn't drawing enough power to charge. Therefore it not working, and the red flashing light. It wasn't actually charging.
Is it plugged in to charge via AC or USB? It might not be drawing enough power if it is charging through USB.
If it is charging though AC, have you left it to charge overnight? If a Li-ion battery enters a state of deep discharge, it may take a while for it to charge enough for the phone to be able to power on. This shouldn't be the case though, the battery should have failsafes to prevent this from happening.
If neither of these things do anything, I'd try either swapping the wall adaptor and/or the usb cable or the phone battery itself, and if those things work, you're out of luck.
Hope that helps.
Have tried two wall chargers different outlet and my two pcs. left it overnight twice. Im screwed lol

Tell Rogers that one of their Sales Reps burnt the phone while trying to show you how to charge it
Im going to take it back to walmart it is only 3 week old
I had the same issue with mine... it completely died out and would not start charging. Found it weird the phone couldn't be charged while being powered off (my old KRZR could do it)....
Anyway, I called up Rogers and told them the situation and they exchanged it with a new one. I don't let the phone go below 5% now in fear of it not being able to charge if it the battery is completely drained XD
was your phone rooted?
No... it was on the original firmware and all...
For some reason I forgot you rooted it when you replied. Rogers might not want to exchange it... Wal-Mart on the other hand will probably not even look at it and just exchange it.
Other option could be to buy a new battery?
it actually looks as if the usb port itself is chipped.
ok, i had the same problem with my old SE phones.
everytime i tried to charge it, it did not charge. other phones were charging thru same cable.
the problem in the OS.
what i did is upgraded thru SEUS.
try to plug it to PC thru USB cable without battery. then go thru procedure as u would go for upgrade and then put the battery back.
it might not work if your battery complitely dead, thought worth a try
Yea, cant connect to seus
your batter yshould be fine. it's just dead.
dont buy any battery just yet. i would replace the phone if i were u. without spending extra bucks.
this is the quickets solution i can think of.
however, for the future reference i will buy me extra battery just in case
good luck
Just had it turn on and it said less than 2% remaining connect to charger. It was connected. This happened before and it just shuts off.
yeah mine would open from time to time but instantly shut down also. Seems like it didn't have enough time to detect it was plugged in...
try returning it
This may sound weird but it worked for me. Try taking out the memory card and leave it out and plugging it in.
Yea. I tried every combination. Brought it to walmart qndvthey gave me a new one. 30 day replacment woo. Im nervous to root now

same problem... no solution ?
Hi, I'm new to the forum and I found this topic is describing the same problem I have. I bought an x10 mini pro (U20a) unlocked and it doesnt turn on with my service provider SIM, but if I try another service provider SIM card or without SIM card, it turns on normally. It's the same behavior, cause it wont charge either. Other users are reporting the same problem in SE support forums and it is related to X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro. It seems to be related to software since a factory reset or a repair using PC Companion solves the problem partially, but for some users the problem starts again when their batteries dries out and want to charge their phones. In case anyone find a solution that really works, please post it here.

I'm disappointed because I have the exact same problem, but I'm outside of AT&T's 30-day return period (and they're being typical idiots about the issue). They have no replacement batteries (of course) so I've had to request one directly from SonyEricsson, which will take 5 business days to deliver. (!) Hopefully, this will resolve the issue; however, before you returned your phone to Walmart, I noticed that you thought you had a problem with a chipped mini-USB port. Do you know if that was part of the problem?

CHARGING ISSUE - shouldi be worried?

I bought a second hand HD2, however it arrived with a third-party chinese battery. I contacted the seller who apologised and said that battery was a replacement because the original didn't hold a good charge, and he would send the original through the post. The battery however was fully charged so I flashed all the neccessary files and installed NAND Android (my reason for buying it in the first place), however today - the same day it arrived - I noticed that the orange charge light was going off, usually when the phone screen went off. This necessitated plugging the USB lead back in again, and within sometimes less than a minute the same problem would occur. I have checked the battery prongs, reset the the phone, changed USB settings etc and the problem persists.
Just wondered of I should be worried...I am unable to find an identical problem to this on the forums so I'm assuming it's not a ROM issue. I am currently using the Desire port from DFT.
Would a cheap Chinese battery demonstrate this sort of problem?
The seller says he never had an issue of charging the phone.
My next resort is to flash Windows Mobile back on, but I'm at work and a bit anxious so was hoping for someone with some experience to reassure me!
All USB syncing etc works fine...it is literally just charging that's the issue.
Maybe it's your USB that's faulty. I had a faulty usb that would go on and off sometimes too. However I don't see why the battery would affect the LED light, as the battery has to be connected to the phone for it to stay on, and so the battery can't be losing it's connection with the phone randomly, so it's either your usb cord, or the port.
Word of advice, don't let your phone lose power cuz of the faulty charging. I assume you know that MAGLDR doesn't let you charge the phone while off, so a dead battery in our case, is a dead phone. Happened to me once cuz of my usb, luckily there was still a small amount of charge left after i took the battery out and placed it back in.
It's definitely not the cable as I've used an official HTC charger with it which does exactly the same thing. I've also tried with a Samsung MicroUSB charger from my Galaxy S
Maybe it's the usb port then... That's the worst case scenario because you'd have to get the whole motherboard replaced...
However if in winmo you don't experience the problems, then it was just some software problems, so try a different radio and build, and see if they work.
Edit:
Or maybe it's the LED that's faulty. (never heard of such a situation but anything is possible) >.>
Does it still charge even if the LED is not orange/on?
Thing is though I can pretty much get it to stay charging if I don't let it lock and the screen go off? Could this still be a problem with the USB port? I'm getting worried now as I don't like the hassle of sending things back through eBay. I'm wondering if the seller bought a spare battery thinking it was just a battery problem and isn't telling the whole story. Foolishly I didn't test the device with Windows Mobile, I just went straight into flashing as I had put Android on my friend's HD2 the other day in exactly the same way...his is even an ex Virgin Mobile phone like this one. Needless to say, he is having no charging issues.
Dude dont worry , the problem is the battery ! i got two chinese battery ones and both cant charge with the phone, i have to use eksternal charger Dont worry the red and orange led flashes constantly when i try to charge it
Just buy a cheap charger from ebay , and buy a oem htc hd2 battery
Hi thanks for your reply. Mine doesn't flash red and orange though: the orange light comes on as normal and the phone reports it as charging, but after a while (seems to be when the phone goes to standby most of the time) the orange light turns off and the charging symbol disappears. If I unplug and replug again the light comes back on for a period. I've not tested thoroughly but I THINK it will stay charging when I leave the phone out of standby with the screen set to stay on for 30 minutes. I really HOPE it's a battery issue but it sounds slightly different to yours as mine does at least charge to a degree. I'm worried there's a blown capacitor somewhere on the logic board that's making the phone charge malfunction but obviously there's no way of testing until I get a new battery.
It concerns me that the seller said he had no charging problems...he must have been able to charge it somehow as the battery was full when it arrived...could I have burnt something out when flashing?!
Mine do charge to about 50 % and then it stops
Im 100 % sure its the battery becouse the battery has a circuitboard inside of it, and thats often messed up considering its made cheap in china . But test it with your friends hd2 original battery You can 2 see if the wet indicatior has been activated
the " white " paper next to the battery poles should be white and not pink, alltso where the skrewholes of the phone that should allso be white just to make sure your phone is not waterdamaget
I don't think flashing could have burnt something out. Overclocking and generating a lot of heat can burn something out though.
Didn't you receive the stock battery? Why not try it with that, and if the problem stilll persists then it might not be the battery. Either way, it will help you to test out the phone with a stock battery.
I tried it again after a few hours and it charged for a fair while before the light went off again.
I don't have the original battery as the seller has yet to mail it to me.
Does anyone else think it's worth me trying out a stock Windows Mobile ROM to see if it works? Might be that Android ROMs are less forgiving of cheap batteries with dodgy circuitry..
UPDATE
Ok so I've flashed Windows Mobile onto the device and wiped Magldr. The phone now alternates between a green and an amber light on the charging indicator. Looks like Windows Mobile won't charge it at all!
Does anyone know what this means?
I've checked for water damage in the areas mentioned and there is no sign.
Well your best bet is to send it in for repairs. But I'd suggest you test the phone out first with a stock battery.
Well I Only bought the phone yesterday so I certainly won't be paying for any repairs.
Got a replacement battery today - a genuine HTC one.
Plugged in, switched on....flashing between amber and green
I have a nagging suspicion this is going to be an eBay refund nightmare.
have you checked that the pins on the phone is not bendt? pins where battery poles connect to phone
problem solved? fingers crossed
OK so as a last resort I flashed radio 2.15 to the device. Seems that this has completely fixed the problem as without even restoring the phone is now charging properly. It seems that a corrupted radio flash had affected the charge somehow....at least I hope so.
The same problem has not come back again today at all.
Might be worth throwing this solution in a problems and solutions section as I haven't found any reference to it on the net and it might fix things for others panicking over their handsets.
That's nice.
Good for you, since it's a hassle to deal with sending back the device and shizz like that.
was just searching is anyone had a similar problem like me. to the OP yours sounds like my problem.
Had these fake OEM batteries for a while now. Until recently they have been charging ang turning off in 1 1/2 minutes. put a genuine OEM battery in and the problem is gone.
My solution was OEM can charge thru phone but fakes cant, use fakes as backup and charge it thru a desktop charger. goodluck

Yu Yureka- Anybdy Else Having Charging Circuit Problem?

Yu Yureka Charging Circuit Problem
Hello Guys, Whats Up...
I am writing this article so as to know if there are any other people out there who are suffering with the same problem.
Basically YU Yureka got a much hype when it was launched for INR 8999. This mobile is well known for its killer features like :
Ships with Cyanogenmod OS
2GB RAM
Snapdragon 615 Processor
Stylish and Elegant Looks similar to One Plus One.
I purchased this device from Amazon.in on May1st, 2015 during an Open Sale. I was very much pleased with the performance of the device till a couple of days back though there are few minor usability issues like touch being not very good for its class, Slow loading of the call log/dialer etc.
The device is a powerhouse when it comes to gaming. The Processor, GPU combined with 2GB RAM mostly provide lag-free gaming.
On the fateful day, it all started early in the morning. My yureka's battery was low with about 15% juice remaining. I tried to charge it by using the supplied charger. Nothing happened. No LED Indicator and no charging symbol in UI. Then after fiddling with the charger for a while, I used the charger supplied with my one plus one. No use. Then I tried with all most all chargers ranging from Samsung and Sony to no avail. I even tried to connect the phone to my laptop using the data cable which did not work as well. Then I decided that there is something wrong with the charging circuit of my mobile and was still confident as the mobile is still in warranty period and there is pick and drop service available at my location. Unfortunately I could not call the customer support as it was a sunday. Then, On Monday morning after 10 O'Clock, I tried calling the customer care. The guy was very polite initially though he was talking in Hindi instead of in English. When I explained him about the problem, he promptly asked me to use any other charger instead of the supplied one. Then I told him that I used multiple chargers and I was able to charge other phones with those chargers. At this point, this guy has put my call on hold and after resuming the call he stated that I should do some troubleshooting by fully charging my mobile (LOL.. it was funny indeed) and doing the factory reset from Recovery. He also suggested me to use the phone in SAFE mode for as long as FOUR hours and guaranteed that the problem will be resolved. I told him that my mobile battery is dead and I cannot charge it as my primary concern is with respect to the phone not getting charged. Still, he insisted that I should get the battery charged by using any universal charger which I should buy if I do not own one. As long as I tried to explain that the phone is in warranty and I do not wish to buy any additional accessories, he still stood by his word confirming that he cannot do anything else and I should buy a universal charger. At this point I got irritated and told him that he was not helpful and disconnected the call after he again started to repeat the same troubleshooting steps including charging the device to 100%. I tried to call multiple times and all the representatives stated the same steps.
So, right now my Yureka, which is hardly 4 months old is lying on the table with a dead battery.
Though the mobile is having some good software and not so good hardware, the company(YU Televentures) is playing spoilsport with mediocre customer support.
At this point, I decided to suggest people not to buy any mobile from this brand.
P.S: I have actually ordered a universal charger online and will update the article once I get the charger and perform the troubleshooting steps on the device.
Yureka mobile not accepting any charger and data cable
My phone is not getting charge with any charger . what happened to it i dont know , very poor customer service . i am chasing them over phone last 4 days each time they are making me fool by saying do this do that . without giving me any discrete answer what to do for this issue . when ever i connect my Phone with charger the light of charger gets off. the problem is with internal software or some charging jack , but those guys are not understanding , i have send every thing like (images, invoice etc) . strongly disappointed with the service and Phone performance .
Fed up with Yuyureka
I have also same problem that you mentioned. My phone is not charging ,but it is not problem of my battery since my baterry got charged when i try to charge tha baterry to my friend's yurekaa. I had got similar bad experience from customer support even if my phone is in warranty period.when i called them, they wasted my time and money (2/min) for unnecessary hold. When I explained him about the problem, he promptly asked me to use any other charger instead of the supplied one. Then I told him that I used multiple chargers and I was able to charge other phones with those chargers. At this point, this guy has put my call on hold and after resuming the call he stated that I should do some troubleshooting by fully charging my mobile and doing the factory reset from Recovery. Next day I tried them again.then they said to send the image of my phone battery, port ,and invoice etc,I did all the things what they said ,Next day I tried them again ,then they saud that my picatures have no much clarity and said them again. And the next day sent invoice is not mentioning price there imay be another bill along with the product.all of us the phone is released on March ,so all phone s are in waranty period till march 2016.I fed up with this phone. I request to all yuyureka users ,to respond against this cheating .kindly stop to promote this brand and to buy this phones

hi, I think this is a hardware issue rather than a software related that is why it did not resolved by even hard Factory reset.so that replacement is the only solution since its parts are not available locally.so Try for replacement.I am trying for that by continuous calling to customer support. But no use
My suggestion to file a cheating case in consumer court against Yuyureka. I am ready for that

They will tell you to factory reset & then flash the phone. Tell them that when you cannot connect the phone to any PC or laptop how are you going to flash it.
tell them that there is a circuit problem and the phone needs to be replaced. send a mail to [email protected].

When I had this problem I did this and it worked for me!!!!
1.Try to connect otg with a pendrive. If it is not working try pluging and unpluging it more than 5 times quickly.
2.Then put it for charging the whole night(more than 6 hrs) even if it doesn't detect. Do not remove even it is not charging. If the problem is solved it would be charged while u wake up.
This really worked for me .Try this.
Now the phone is complete dead....zero battery....no charging in switched off mode

"Since one month yureka yu charging like anything"
hey folks,
If you wonder your yureka yu doesnt have any issue and still its suddenly stop charging. And letter you may have used lots of compatible usb cable or charger but ended with no results. Then, i think you must give a try for "AV connect USB cable" only on amazon. Its not costly may be around Rs.270. Let me know your results. Hopefully it will prove to be boon for many dispointed one.
PAS,
Time is very Near.
I m facing the problem since 1 year. Poor customer service(calls over 1 and half month) resulted in undelivered replacement mobile. Then after one month of the expiry of warranty I decided to sue yureka and complained to National Consumer Helpline. Later YU decided to give me replacement with 48 hour problem reporting. I refused saying I needed additional warranty period for their lethargy and resolution conveying method through email only. Now after 3 months more I decided to look in myself. I checked my battery in friend mobile and it worked fine. my charger and chord worked fine for other mobiles. I then checked the status using DMM(battery and pins). Noticed that the handset was not able to provide enough charging voltage. I tried to move the connector to usb and pushed it upwards using weight of books. I saw then that the charging current was supplied. Now after 5 days I noticed I had to change the direction of the weight to the port. Later on even this failed. I can on the basis of the tests say that the problem lies in cheap quality of port and dock connector. Also the quality of micro usb connector makes a difference. Both the port and the micro usb connector must be gold plated. I changed a port after a month and it started to work fine only for a few days. But normal wear and tear leads to sloppy connection at micro usb port resulting in fake charging. Actually charging circuit must take in account while designing stage these complications regarding normal wear and tear which was not done in Yureka. I have noticed samsung cords and usb ports are gold plated partially or completely which is why they easily adapt to any charger. Also after cm12 64 bit upgrade from cm 11 32bit power consumption increased greatly and it would take longer to charge. Kernel issues also result in bad charging. All these issues are present in Yureka Handset and official kernel. Now I have to change port every 2 months. I have used samsung chord which did not fail charging even when other chords failed. Meanwhile I m considering dock connector replacement.

S8 doesn't turn on anymore/died out of nowhere

About a week ago I put my Korean s8 on my nightstand to charge. It had 3% battery at the time.
I went to sleep and about 8 hours later I woke up and saw the notification light. I tried to turn on the screen but it didn't respond.
After a few attempts to turn on the screen I long pressed the on button to shut down the phone. It did shutdown... And since that moment it has not gone on anymore.
I took it to a few service centers here in Bali, Indonesia (on holiday) but they said they can't do anything because its a korean model so they don't have the parts.
They also said the IC and/or battery or charging mechanism is broken. They didn't do anything other than trying to turn it on though I believe.
I heard about the deep discharge issue where the phones simply don't go on anymore. I guess this is it. Does anybody know if there's anything I can do? I like the phone and want to buy a new one since I won't be in Korea for a while to get it repaired.
But if I buy another s8 will there be a risk the same thing happens?
Thanks in advance!
Did you try wireless charging? Check at a nearest coffee shop if you do not want to buy one before you know it works.

Galaxy S10+ shuts down randomly, does not turn back on.

Hello
So, I've got Samsung Galaxy S10+ AT&T model with a very very weird issue.
The phone has so far died 4 times already. After each time I take it to local Samsung Service center (I'm in Europe) and the technicians turn the phone back on after plugging it to a device which directly sends the power to motherboard, excluding the battery. But the thing is that solution is temporary, the phone developed this issue on January 10th this year and since then I'm kind regular visitor to the local Service center.
They can't determine what's causing the issue. If anyone here has experienced the same issue and found a solution for it I would be more than grateful if you could share it with me.
European authorized service center can't do anything with US models, basically Samsung's warranty works only regionally and not worldwide, well, shame on them for that. Will think twice before buying next Samsung phone.
Couple facts:
1. The phone does not force restart when dead.
2. The phone takes minimal charge when the issue shows up, the technicians at local service center said it takes about 200mAh when dead while it should be doing around 2000mAh normally.
3. Windows 10 PC does recognize (plays sound) that some kind of device is connected when hooking up the dead phone to it, but the phone does not show up in device manager. Also Odin or any other software can't detect it.
4. The only temporary solution so far is to hook the phone up to a Samsung device which sends the power directly to the motherboard, so the power does not go through the battery, but the battery health is excellent.
If additional details are needed I would be happy to provide them, let me know!
I have my old Note 3 (T-Mobile branded) that does that i could never figure out what causes it even after going back to stock original (unroot). Only difference is mine does take a charge and charges fine in your case either
1. You charging port is damaged in some way causing not to charge properly
2. (Unlikely) but battery is defective somehow and won't hold a charge
3. Your cpu is overheating causing a shut down

2. (Unlikely) but battery is defective somehow and won't hold a charge
3. Your cpu is overheating causing a shut down

Thanks for the reply.
Well I think mine is quite a different of a scenario
1. The phone charges fine until it's working, it functions like a normal phone before that random shutdown occurs.
2. I too had that doubt, but it lasts very well so not sure about that.
3. The phone gives no signs of overheating ever. Not even while charging. The random "death" scenario occurs randomly when not on a charger. The phone is sitting in perfectly functioning state and the next moment you take it to unlock and suprize, surprize... it's dead. So far only temporary remedy is to take it to the service center and plug it to the special Samsung gadget to directly send the power to motherboard.

If your phone is still under warranty i would ask them to replace the motherboard, it sounds like it's defective in some way.
