one that doesn't work.....?
i'm not sure I understand.

just an FYI. the fastboot file ONLY boots into fastboot and recovery. and NONE of the fastboot commands work AT all. it cannot boot into the standard OS (as of yet) but you can go back to ZV3 if you ONLY flashed the ZV4 fastboot file, you should be good to flash the ZV3 tot and flashing tut from here.

I'm fairly certain that people wanted a fastboot that actually worked...

I think the G3 had a firmware that was designated ZV4, so probably roms for that

ok im not completely stupid when it comes to this stuff, and thats awesome that you guys got that far. any idea how close we are to being able to get root? I need my Titanium Backup and my FoxFi lol

Probably a dumb question but; Has anyone tried to flash TWRP through fastboot for the Sprint G5?

Yes! That was indeed a stupid question! Just teasing, but no, there are no public methods to unlock the bootloader, so no way to write a new recovery to the partition, except for T-mobile variants.

That's what I figured. Damn bootloader. Why won't LG let other regions have an official unlock?!

[Q] Install Recovery Image

On my HTC Hero when I flashed it to a new ROM I used this guide which is all done on the device.
I'm about to upgrage a friend's GT540 for him and wondered if there was a similar way of doing it?
Can I install the recovery after rooting the device? Or is the only way to find a Windows PC and install fastboot?
Thanks.
Yep windows pc cus u need to use kdz
Sent from my GT540 using XDA
Thanks bs828.
Was hoping it was going to be as easy as the HTC
we all did
the flash_image command can only be used after we flash a custom rom. i tried on the stock v20e from lg does not work.....

It should work if you push the flash_image binary to your rooted device. Try with this:

I realize this now after i made my second post of bricking my phone,
I did get recovery to work. The 2.6.3.5 i was using isn't loki'd so i went to down to the 2.6.3.2

Make sure you grab the right twrp file for your device. make sure you have your loki file in the ADB tools folder.
Use this Guide and it should work like a charm
i recommend changing the name of your TWRP '.img' to 'recovery.img' so its easy to type in the command window

Stock recovery question/request

I was hoping someone could help me out. I searched the forums but couldn't find anything. Is there any way to extract the recovery image from the firmware zip? I tried to do so on my PC but I received an error saying the zip was invalid which I'm assuming is because it's signed by HTC. I'm trying to avoid flashing the firmware in RUU mode since I then lose root. My goal is to be on the stock recovery with root so I can receive OTA's when they are available. If not, does anyone happen to have a copy of the stock recovery for the 1.19.605.22 software . I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

Great thanks. Saw this tool on a couple of other sites but only for Linux. Didn't know there was a Windows version. It's pretty straight forward. Feeling kinda dumb for missing it.

Either way will work. Andy's way is most likely is no wipe, no recovery so you'll still be on what ever rom your using now and twrp. Dottat ruu will give you the latest stock rom and stock recovery, it won't wipe but you'll have to reflash twrp, reroot, and if not staying on stock rom, you'll have to reflash your current Rom also.
I prefer the ruu and also keep the ruu as a emergency backup

The RUU that is posted won't wipe Internal memory.
It is certainly reccommended for a nice clean setup, but at the time same you could just flash the firmware (which is basically the firmware goods without the stock ROM) certainly wont, I thought you may be on a custom ROM so I suggested the firmware (I should have asked, my apologies), which you'd flash real quick and boot back to your ROM.
As for taking the actual OTA on your device, I'll have to look that up for step by step how to do that, I haven't done it yet so I'm not 100% sure the process. but we got some great guys in here for help, so we'll be good.
